Devlin didn't have time to react before the air wave struck him like a ton of bricks. He tumbled over in the air, before he stopped and righted himself. Sam saw that he was still hanging on, but very weakly. She had never heard of Vacuum Wave, but it was very fast and Devlin probably couldn't take another hit. She bit her lip, hesitant to declare Devlin done with the battle, but she would rather send out Star who was more likely to land a good solid hit then Devlin who was exhausted and paralyzed. He had done a great job, but he was still young. Sam held up Devlin's Pokeball. This would be the first time she had pulled one of her Pokemon out of a battle before they were done, either fainted or too exhausted to move a muscle. She shook her head, hoping she wouldn't regret this, and Devlin would forgive her. She pressed the center button, and he was enveloped in a red light. He squawked tiredly in protest, but Sam noticed that once he was safely ensconced in his ball, it didn't twitch. She stared at Bugsy across the field.
"Devlin's done. I'm bringing out my last Pokemon now," she said simply, hoping she sounded like she knew what she was doing and wasn't afraid of breaking another rule. She eyed the Scyther warily, before tossing Star's Pokeball in the air. The Marshtomp burst out in a torrent of water, plainly showing off. Sam noticed to her surprise that there were now ice crystals in the water as well. 'I hope that means that she is ready to use her new moves.' Sam was suddenly very happy she had bought Star the Ice Beam TM. And she could always use Surf as well, since it was still a very strong move, even if it didn't have the type advantage. Star posed as she hit the ground, thinking she must be at a Contest of some sort. Sam rolled her eyes. "Star, concentrate. Your opponent is very fast. You are my last chance. Got it?" Star nodded, waving a fin.
"Yeah, yeah, sure I got it. No problem. Quit your worrying and let's get on with it!" she chattered, though Sam only heard garbled "Marshtomp!"s. Sam cringed mentally, and shut her eyes tight, hoping that Star would actually take orders correctly for once.
"Star, let's try this one out! Ice Beam!" Star stopped mid-bow, and thought about it. Ice Beam? Oh hey, she knew that one. Somewhere...way back at the back of her mind. She had practiced conjuring ice already, but it was much different to actually shoot lots of it in a concentrated beam. Star drew in a very large breath, then exhaled, her breath misting. From her mouth, a large glowing blue orb grew to the size of a baseball, before firing off towards the Scyther, tiny ice crystals trailing behind it. Sam was surprised that Star had managed such a good attempt, but she quickly saw that the beam was growing dimmer as it approached the Scyther. 'Not enough power behind it...' she thought absentmindedly. She figured that would come with practice. She crossed her finger as the icy blue beam came closer to the Mantis Pokemon.

After a few minutes of walking in silence, Claire began to get bored of just walking. Not that she was the most conversational person in the world, but you could only go for so long without chatting before awkward silence began to set in. But, just as she was formulating a topic to discuss Rajasi spoke up.
“We’re almost there.” He noted as the red roofed building came into view.
“Right.” Claire agreed as she confirmed the Pokemon Center. “So do you think Moti will already be there? I feel like our battle was a little fast for him to finish a lunch.” Claire added, suddenly realizing that her stomach was lightly grumbling.
“I dunno. I guess we could go inside and check first, then grab some of our own food.” Rajasi said with a nod. “I’m pretty hungry myself.” And so it was, the young trainers entered the building to find absolutely no one that they knew inside, although there was a growing crowd of trainers awaiting the evening’s Pokemon Contest.
=====
Meanwhile, Moti had been hammering out plans for the upcoming days.
“Okay, so you’ll keep an eye out for this ‘Professor Maple’ guy and let me know if you hear anything.” Mag said with a final nod from Juliet. “And you said our Picker is already in position at the site?”
“Yes, he’s acting as the head of security right now. So you should be able to make your exit without too much trouble.” Juliet grabbed a full tray of dishes and passed it on to one of her Ludicolo, which then danced off to serve the customers. Moti continued to clean some of the remaining dishes other customers had left behind--he couldn’t get his room and board totally free after all!
“Well, I’ll have to give the details fo the escape to the Picker when we get there then. Seems like I’m all set.” Moti said with a smile. “Thanks for all your help Juliet, I’m sure we’ll be seeing each other around, this being a small world and all,” and with a wave Mag had left the shop for his trip back to the Pokemon Center.

"Kill you?" Mike asked in confusion, his eyes losing their razor's edge and slowly returning to their normal shape. "Ah-hah-hah-hah-hah! I'm not going to kill you!" he laughed hysterically. The very thought! He, kill anyone! Especially Mitsu! "H'ya ha ha ha! Oh, this is a terrible misunderstanding!" Mike clawed the right side of his bangs away from his face, breathing heavily as his adrenaline started to wear off. "That's-that's not what I meant. Not at all! I just...wanted to show you..." He took a step back, suddenly feeling quite awful. He wanted to show her what would happen if she kept going down that path. "No secrets...at least not to yourself. That's the breaker..." He said meekly, taking another step back.
"I don't want to kill you, Mitsu. I w-would never. Never! I just don't want to see you end up like me! I mean, hahaha! LOOK AT ME!" He pointed to his face, wracked with wear and tear from lack of sleep, constant abuse, and hygienic neglect. "I must look like I'm fifty!" He exhaled deeply, a dark plume of smoke wafting from his mouth. "And to answer your question, I do remember when we were more 'normal'." It was him that used finger quotes this time. "And, I remember something else." Mike slowly approached the cowering girl, and sat down slowly next to her. His voice became soft and gentle, like it used to sound when they would spend time together. "I remember when you and I were very close. I remember all of the times we shared together, the battles, the captures." Mike ran a gentle hand through Mitsu's hair, slowly brushing the girl's deep purple hair. "I remember how we made a promise to each other to defeat all the Hoenn gyms together. And if I recall, we're almost there." Mike looked down at his friend and smiled. With her all curled up like that, it reminded him of all the times they had fallen asleep on the Pokemon Center couches together. It seemed like ages ago. He was a completely different person then. They all were. It had only been months, if that. Even so, with all the crazy things that have happened, it seemed like years. If he had to guess, five, at least.
------
Sasha jumped at the sudden voice in the hallway. "K'eel'eek? I-my room-everyone else-EET WON'T WORK!" she wailed, grabbing onto the boy's legs. Or at least she would have if he hadn't already walked over and unlocked her room door. "Oh..." she said, grabbing onto Kilik's hand and pulling herself up. Even though she pulled with all her might, and she had been eating a little more than she should have recently, the taller boy barely budged. She felt so light and delicate. "Uh, merci, K'eel'eek." She awkwardly slinked away, rubbing her hand.
She shut the door behind her and let out a deep sigh. "J'ai besoin d'arrêter de pleurer. Mike compte sur nous pour l'aider. Et je ne vais pas aider par assis autour et en sanglotant." Sasha checked to see if anyone was in the room before moving to the bathroom. She took her backpack off and set it on the counter, then proceeded to undress. She placed her beret atop her bag, and untied her tie. She pulled it through the collar and let out a light breath. She then unbuttoned her shirt and unclasped her skirt.
Sasha Jennings Beauchamp the Fourth looked at herself in the mirror. Despite some smudges and dirt and runny makeup, it was manageable.

Kasiya sucked in a sharp breath when Keegan took her hand, not even really paying attention to the fact that he took her hand out of sheer politeness rather than need. She did notice his pained expression, even though he tried to hide it with a smile, though his comment about refusing to teach her how to climb the fence the way he had was mildly insulting. She frowned, wanting nothing more than to yank her hand away but she didn't, and instead gave his a light squeeze, knowing he was probably right. "If you say so," she said quietly, not fully agreeing with him but deciding that she didn't want to push the subject anymore. It was at that very moment that she realized Keegan scared her. It was unsettling because even though she'd been up on the mouth of a volcano with a boy who was certifiably insane not that long ago, she hadn't been as frightened as she was right now.
She chewed a bit on her lower lip as she'd started to walk towards the dilapidated building, still holding tightly to Keegan's hand even as she tried to understand what it was about him that scared her so much. She looked up at the mansion, wondering if it could even be called that anymore, and shivered a bit. It truly was creepy, probably even more so because it was the middle of the night. Without really thinking about what she was doing she huddled closer to the redheaded boy, still staring at the building in awe. "It's really creepy looking," she said, not caring that she was stating the obvious. It had seemed like a good idea to come out here at the time, but now she wasn't so sure.
=-=-=-=-= Jake nodded, trying to envision in his mind the things Robin was explaining to him. So this Roark fellow was also a miner, which seemed pretty obvious to Jake once he thought about it. Of course a miner would take interest in Rock-type Pokemon and fossils and the like. He tried to picture what the Gym Leader/Miner looked like, coming up with a mental image of a man in his mid to late forties, scruffy beard, toned and muscular and covered in coal dust. Of course, he had no idea that his mental picture of Roark more closely resembled the young man's father, so the day he eventually challenged the Canalave gym he'd be in for quite a shock.
Turtwig had noticed his trainer's strange behavior and had positioned himself right at the boy's side, no longer interested in what the Totodile was up to. He recalled how scary it had been when Jake had started screaming and clutching his head in agony, all over a silly signpost, and he wanted to be ready in case it happened again. Jake paused and peered into the cave they were about to enter, doing nothing to disguise his frown. "I'm guessing we do have to go through here, right?" he asked, his tone cold and flat.
=-=-=-=-= Ikouma couldn't hold back a wide grin as the Beedrill lunged, her stingers jabbing forward again and again for a vicious Fury Attack. Her reckless, almost wild thrusts were easy to evade, but unfortunately her rapid series of attacks and his agile dodging left no openings for him to counterattack. Even still, he knew her rage-fueled strikes would hurt if he braved even one to try and attack, so the clever Sneasel continued to focus on dodging, hoping the angry Callistra would tire herself out.
Karrigan watched the two, her face faintly showing traces of concern. Ikouma was quite clever, she'd give him that, but overconfidence was also something the Sneasel had in spades.

The second attempt was goign to be his only attempt, or at least that's what Poliwhirl was thinking. Not good enough? Impossible! No one could hurt someone like he could, not one! The cries of pain, the look of humiliation after complete dominance, only he could do this! Poliwhirl concentrated hard this time, gathering as much energy as he could in both of his hands before attempting to make his barrier of ice again. He continued to pull from his reserves, charging his hands until they started to frost over from the overload of power. Not good enough? No no no no no no no NO! That simply wouldn't do! There was no way Poliwhirl was about to let Crenu toss him into storage, to be replaced by some second rate pokemon. That contest was going to be full of pokemon to hurt and people to cheer him on for doing it! Crenu wanted him to build a stupid wall? Then he'd make a stupid wall! Poliwhirl jumped up into the air, pointing both hands at the ground before him as he unleashed a mighty blast of cold that froze the ground solid instantly, quickly building up on itself. Poliwhirl didn't let up, he kept pushing it and pushign it, unloading everything into this attack and moving up with his hands as he came back down to the ground. It all happened so fast, yet every second of it ticked by clearly and slowly to the both of them. When Poliwhirl was finished, he fell back completely exhausted, looking up at his creation. Heh, how's that for a stupid defensive wall?
"...Well done." Crenu said as he stood arms crossed several feet away. Before him was a wall of ice, wide and tall enough to hide Poliwhirl behind it, and hidden the Tadpole pokemon was. Crenu cocked his eyebrow as he looked at the structure, a little overly ornate but functional. Not only had Poliwhirl made a solid looking shield, but the outside face of the wall was covered in spiky protrusions, perhaps giving Poliwhirl the image of a pokemon smashing into this thing was a mistake. Anything ramming into this would surely be impaled, which was obviously Poliwhirl's intention. They would have to work on that, Poliwhirl seemed to enjoy hurting others just a bit too much. "Next time don't fall back after using this Poliwhirl. Time lost is a match lost, you will have to be able to counter attack right after. Now. Get back up and use Brick Break again. I want no trace of this wall at all when you're done. Your Brick Break needs to be stronger, more devastating. No trace of the wall. No trace of the opponent. Got it?" The round blue pokemon was still panting as he sat there admiring his wall, but no sooner had he started to take in his magnificent reflection in the ice had the order been given out to knock it down. It was a shame, he was such a handsome pokemon after all but he could never say no to smashing something. This wall wasn't as flimsy as the last, and Poliwhirl went to work on breaking it apart laughing way to much as he did it.

"Nice Thunder Wave counter," Riza commented, glad to see that Faustus could think for himself during battle. All her Pokemon seemed capable of that so far, except for maybe Eris. The young Quilava allowed her emotions to rule over her during battle and that often got her in over her head or carried away. Even still, she'd learned Flame Wheel, which was a sign that she was growing steadily stronger. Plua gave another indignant squawk and continued her struggle to stay in the air. There was a malicious glint in the Fearow's eyes, and suddenly her whole body shimmered a bit, and before Riza, Akima or Faustus could figure out what was going on, that same thin coil of electricity snaked out from the bird's body and blanketed itself over the Dratini. The dragon Pokemon let out a pained cry as it was his turn to be paralyzed by the Thunder Wave, though he had no idea how the Fearow had done it.
Akima had jumped to her feet in surprise, very much wanting to know how Plua had done that, but Riza had already taken her Pokedex out and was checking it over. "Oh, that must have been Mirror Move," she said, touching her finger to her lips. "It copies the last move used by the opponent. Wow, that's gotta suck, being attacked by your own attack," she mumbled, snapping the device shut and looking at Plua. That Fearow certainly was a crafty one, and Riza wondered what other tricks she had up her proverbial sleeves, though at the same time she realized the battle might be a little slower paced as both Pokemon struggled against their paralysis. Plua pulled it together first, not surprisingly, and flapped her wings, shooting forward like a brown comet towards the Dratini, beak ready to jab. 'Fury Attack,' Riza thought, as it seemed to be Plua's weapon of choice.
Faustus wasn't so lucky at staving off the paralysis this round, as it looked like the Dratini was trying to dodge. His sleek body crackled with static and he seized up like a board, making him easy prey for the Fearow's angry jabs. The pains shooting through him seemed to snap him out of it though, and he reared back with his tail and let it fly, catching Plua in the side with a strong Slam attack. Though he was still quite timid and shy, the Dratini had some power behind his attacks, and Riza knew that if she could break him out of his shell, he'd be a fantastic and reliable Pokemon.

That laughter! It drove her further and further into despair and fear for her life. Mitsu felt very vulnerable and weak. She began to quiver and shake, trembling quite obviously. The heat in the general vicinity began to pick up as the boy sat down next to her. The words he spoke hardly managed to reach her ears and the heat wasn’t helping. She felt more flames licking at her skin, burning her brilliant purple hair. Fire. Burning. Yes, burning to death, what a fitting end for the girl who set fire to the Viridian Forest. . .
Whatever Mike had said before hadn’t registered itself in her mind. Her breathing sped up as he gently took a seat next to her. She was terrified, but this time she was too scared to scream. Mitsu continued to shake, visibly disturbed. Tear were forcing themselves through her closed eyes, pushing themselves forth and spilling and rolling down her cheeks.
. . . Though when he ran his hand through her hair, just like earlier, and spoke with that caring, gentle voice she was so accustomed to hearing, Mitsu began to calm down. The heat morphed itself into a comfortable, cozy heat, the same that she had felt earlier just as she fainted. It was like old times. He was the Mike that she remembered, the one she’d grown so attached too. Her rapid breathing began to slow, though the tears continued to fall freely. She sighed, relieved to see that her friend was still there, that the monster at Slateport hadn’t completely consumed him.
And then it hit her. He was running his hand through her hair. He was close. Too close.
“N-no! G-get away,” she stuttered loudly, shooting upright into a sitting position. She scooted back a few inches, her arms wrapped around her body. “D-don’t touch me!” She started to shake again, the red aura surrounding her body glowing as bright as ever. Not bothering to brush the tears away she held her hand out before her, palms up. “Look Mike,” she began, looking him in the eyes, now that they had lost their sharp edge, “My own body wants to kill me. I-I don’t know what to do!”
Mitsu shook her head, hands clasped around her body again. If she didn’t want to be consumed by whatever this red aura was, she’d have to calm down. She knew it. To calm herself down, Mitsu took a few deep breaths, exhaling the warm air. “Friends. We’re friends. Gym battles, Pokemon,” she whispered to herself, repeating all the things Mike had said. The red aura dulled itself, but was still present. It was becoming harder and harder to banish easily. “Promise. We-we have to battle Tate and Liza next,” she said, trying to smile.
------------===========-----------
“Good job Roserade!” Gardenia complimented as her signature Pokemon took down another opponent. However, while it didn’t seem too obvious to the challenger, her Roserade was getting really tired. Noa had done an excellent job of wearing her out, and giving her a few dents to boot.
“Oooooh,” the Grass Leader cooed as she watched the fire monkey use Taunt. “What a clever move!” Truth be told, she was planning to just start off with another Rain Dance. It was obvious that Katie had been stalling for a Fire type, they generally hate the water after all. But you’d be surprised how many Chimchars and Monfernos came by whose trainer’s weren’t smart, or quick!, enough to use the attack. Though, she had to admit, Katie was a clever girl and this was well within her area.
Roserade was getting tired; Gardenia could tell if they were hit with a Fire attack now, it’d pretty much be the end. Well! They’d hit back hard if that’s how Katie wanted to play! “Use your Weather Ball!” the leader commanded.
Roserade concentrated, pulling the air from the open roofed arena into a swirling sphere before launching it at the Monferno. It was their strongest attack, somewhat weakened with the lack of rain, but both she and Gardenia knew it could still pack a powerful, punch!

Mike jumped back as Mitsu recoiled, quite shocked himself at her reaction. As he looked at her cowering in fear, being consumed by her own emotions, he couldn't help but feel like he was looking at a mirror. It was kinda funny in a wa-no! No laughing! Mike slapped his hand to his mouth before he could even start. That wouldn't fix anything, stop it! He took a deep breath and tensed his shoulders, feeling the oncoming laughing fit die down within him. "Mitsu, calm down. I am not, and was not, trying to hurt you." His words retained their gentleness even as he began to become a little scared for his friend. "I was just trying to scare you a little. Tough love, you know?" She was glowing very bright red, a crimson, blood red. It didn't look natural, or comfortable. "Your own body?" He wasn't sure if Mitsu was telling the truth or just in hysterics. "Of course we're friends! Yes, Gym battles. We need to finish them together!" He said as he tried to ease her out of her fit.
A smile of his own worked its way to his lips as he saw Mitsu force one through. This wasn't like her other smiles, the ones that covered up her feelings, this was her, the real Mitsu, trying to push through. Despite all the pain and anguish, she was smiling. He once again tried to get closer, holding up his hands where she could see them so she would feel safe. Granted, there were a whole list of things he could do to harm her even with his hands out in the open, but he wasn't going to, so it was the formality of the act that counted. "In order to help you I'm going to need to know just what you have. Tell me. After you're done I'll share what's happened to me so you don't have to feel alone. I'm with you on this Mitsu, we can do this together. Do you need any help up? I can get Nitro over here, or Portabello if you'd like that."
It's so strange what life throws at you, he thought amid the mass of voices in his head.

Train returned to the two boys just as Carlos voiced his distrust for Maz. Maz, however, quickly responded by pulling out some sort of weird badge and announced himself as a member of something called “T.E.A.M.” Train blinked and looked at Maz, her head tilting ever so slightly to the left. ”What's 'T.E.A.M.'?” She asked. Apparently he was some sort of good guy though, if he was “on the lookout for suspicious activity.”
”Uh…” She said, unsure of what she really thought about him, honestly. Though she did suddenly realise just how little she knew these boys, though it wasn’t like she had particularly trusted either of them in the first place. Right now they were simply just traveling companions, though she supposed she should be a little more careful in case she did happen to run into someone who wanted to mug her in a cave or something. ”I guess not. I mean, I don’t know. I don’t really know either of you very well…”

Carlos eyed the badge cautiously, he'd never heard of this T.E.A.M. before. "Rather quick to show your badge no? Still, a badge is something that I lack. Forgive my suspicions Mr. Maz, but as you say one can never be too sure." He sure was energetic, and a little odd, but if Maz really was a shady person then he probably wouldn't be so outgoing with his targets. For now Carlos decided to drop his questions and beleive Maz, as Train brought up an excellent point. Neither of them knew each other very well, he'd only met Train yesterday and Maz today, so there was no real trust or distrust to be had yet. Maz seemed a bit odd, but the T.E.A.M. thing of his seemed to give him an excuse for probing, and if protection was his game then it was alright with him. "Well, whatever the case may be we should get moving." Carlos resumed playing his guitar, his melody no longer harsh and accusing. ((meh, bad post. Not feeling so hot tonight.))

If asked, Akane would not have been able to say how she got to the Pokemon Center exactly. All she knew was that Nurse Joy took Twinkers with a forced smile and had a pair of Chanseys carry her into the hospital wing on a stretcher. And now the young trainer sat on a couch in the entry foyer alternating between staring at the floor and staring at the clock. The clocked seemed to be broken - whenever she looked it was as if the clock had forgotten to keep ticking until Akane's gaze reminded it to keep going. The only thought running in her head was the mantra "pleasebeokay pleasebeokay pleasebeokay" repeating itself over and over.
Time dragged on until finally (or was it soon?) Nurse Joy came back out, surgical mask around her neck. Akane's heart seemed to be in her throat. Her eyes trying to ask the question her mouth forgotten how to. Why was the nurse walking so slowly? It must be bad news! Oh no, not Twinkers! She let her best friend down, she should have just given that nasty boy the money right away and Twinkers would be okay. If only ...
"I'm sorry ..."
Oh no! Twinkers! Akane's eyes shot wide showing her sense of horror and dread.
"... for the delay, Another patient had a complication that needed my attention. Your Clefairy is doing fine. She will need a little more bed rest before I will release her.
Akane felt the wave of relief flood over her.
"You should get something to eat and maybe have a rest yourself" added the concerned nurse.
It was then that Akane really looked at the time - 3:14 - and realized that she still hadn't eaten lunch. Nurse Joy smiled reassuringly at Akane and motioned towards the trainers rooms before she went back to the hospital wing.

Since Jaeshan's discomfort seemed to filling the air Robin actually noticed for once! Glancing back at him she gave him a concerned look a small frown on her face. "Whats up? Do you not like caves?" Puffing her cheeks up as she thought Robin let out a loud sigh wondering what she should do. "Well, it's not very long, I mean you can see the other side right there." Robin pointed to the other side of the tunnel just as there was a loud crash followed by an even louder roar from an enraged pokemon. "Eh?" Was all the redhead could say before Black*Star came crashing out of a small side tunnel he had entered while his trainers were talking.
A few moments earlier.
Black*Star was sitting outside of the cave waiting for his trainer and slowly getting really bored. There was probably a whole bunch of pokemon inside the cave that didn't know how awesome he was! Not wanting to wait any longer Black*Star slipped inside the cave and turning left, he started to wonder around. There weren't that many pokemon in this tiny part of the cave. Just as he was about to give up he spotted one! Aha! He was gunna show them how awesome and strong he was! Running forward Black*Star stopped behind them, wow it was a lot bigger up close, and then without a thought that this might be a bad idea blasted them with his Water Gun.
It turns out that Machamp's do not like surprise Water Guns from behind. The Superpower pokemon turned smashing some rocks around him as he did, and glared at Black*Star before giving a loud roar as he picked the Totodile up and tossed him outside of the cave. That wasn't all though the Machamp took off after the still flying high in the sky Totodile.
"Black*Star!?" Robin cried not sure what to do. In Black*Stars condition he really couldn't land on the ground from that hight! It would hurt him to much and set him right back to the start. Leaving Jaeshan, Robin ran after him in an attempt to maybe catch him. "Black*Star try to make your fall softer with your Water Gun!" The redhead called out hoping that Black*Star could hear her. Oh there was no way she could catch him in time and Black*Star didn't seem to have heard her as he came tumbling towards the ground. Just as all seemed to be lost for the poor Totodile a large shape flashed by both of them grabbing the Totodile right of the sky.
"What the..." Robin stopped her run and stared at where Black*Star had disappeared from in front of her. Blinking a few times and wondering what had happened to her pokemon Robin looked around, maybe she had missed him. As she was looking behind her she didn't hear the soft hum of tissue thin wings, she did hear the happy screech though, whipping around Robin could only jump back in surprise, quickly lose her balance and fall to the ground. "Oh wow!"
Behind Robin was a huge, bigger then most people, dragonfly with huge spikes on it holding her Totodile. Said pokemon seemed to be squirming out of the other's grasp before being let go and running back over to Robin. The Totodile glared at the large pokemon, he could have saved himself! He was working on a totally awesome save! Robin though was just staring at the large dragonfly with wide blue eyes from her spot on the ground. The two of them stared at each other for a long time before Robin asked sure but not very sure. "Raz?" The large dragonfly let out another happy cry in affirmation.

"No, no help," Mitsu managed to say, still trying to force back the horrible memories and the voice that plagued her mind. "N-no one can touch me when I'm like this. It's. . .it's a horrible side effect. You see, humans weren't meant to be mixed with Pokemon – haha – it doesn't work. Something went wrong and . . . and I don't know." She paused, breathing, trying to calm herself down. The growing anger inside her swelled, demanding to be released. It was beating against the cage that was her mind with angry fists, each time sending a wave of pain through her body. She clutched her head again, trying to somehow reduce the incessant throbbing in her temple. “It’s simple. Green means heal, red means my own body is sucking away energy,” she coughed, “In theory, I’m killing myself – haha – I get like this when, when I remember or I am too emotional.”
Mitsu remained sitting on the ground, though not for long. Even the mere act of sitting became a chore and Mitsu collapsed onto the ground, huddled in pain and confusion. Anger and hatred were twins, partners in crime, in Mitsu’s thoughts. They yelled at her to lash out, to fight back. Mitsu struggled to get a good look at Mike, prying her eyes open and looking beyond the waterfall of tears. She wanted to tell him her sorrow, to share the pain and burden. He was warning her wasn’t he? He cared, he didn’t want her to lose her mind. He. . .
“Don’t . . .wanna remem. .ber. I want to . . . tell you. But, b-but you. Yooou. I trust? Trust. . you? I do. I lo– d you? No, no. I-I . . . why is it . . . so hard?”
She paused, breathing unevenly, puffing out her breaths. Too many thoughts were occupying her mind, each wanting their own say. Oddly, the voice had yet to speak. Had she beaten it back this time? The red glow was starting to dim again, thought it still refused to completely disappear. It continued to drain away Mitsu’s energy like water chipping away at hard stone.
“M-make it stop,” she begged, looking at Mike again, only seeing the gentle, kind hearted soul who had spent months traveling with her, “I-I. . .I didn’t mean to kill them. I promise I didn’t.” Her voice was shaky, but she was trying her best to calm down, forcing the words though her nearly clenched teeth and quivering lips. She really did was to explain herself, the guilt eating her alive was not something pleasant. Her eyes begged Mike to understand, she hadn't meant to, really, she didn't.

Both Pokemon were still struggling against the paralysis with all their might, though Plua was the first one to recover, even after being slammed in the side of the head by Faustus' tail. She let out an ear-piercing screech and kicked off into the air once more, her left wing working a lot harder than her right. She seemed to be flying in awkward half-circles, but her gaze never strayed away from the Dratini. Her body began to glow with a white shimmer as she moved in for an Aerial Ace. She was feeling pretty good about herself for turning that Thunder Wave back on the little (ok not so little) dragon, and she wasn't about to stop now that she was on a roll. Unfortunately, at that moment the Fearow's other wing decided to lock up on her, and she flailed a bit comically in midair for a few seconds before she crash-landed onto the ground, causing Akima, who was now watching the battle carefully, burst into laughter. If Plua could have raised her head to glare at her she would have, but the Fearow was currently fully paralyzed.
"Akima, stop that," Riza growled, giving the Sneasel a light smack on the head. Akima didn't even so much as flinch and kept right on laughing. Faustus struggled into an upright position, deciding to capitalize on Plua's current immobility. He let out a soft cooing, and then his body shimmered lightly. His ear fins twitched a bit, and he looked apologetically at the Fearow before he reared his head back and loosed a fearsome stream of bluish flames that washed over the Beak Pokemon in a hot torrent. * * * * * Genki energetically hopped from foot to foot, small wisps of flame flickering from his blazing tail. He could see that the grass and trees around him was wet, like it had only just stopped raining. He shivered a bit as a drop of water from a tree overhead fell onto his head, and he looked up in time to hear the pretty lady (she had orange hair too, just like his Katie!) give her command. The Monferno tensed up, watching the flowery foe (that looked remarkably like Seraphim, go figure!) form the Weather Ball. It looked like a strong attack, and he was sure he could dodge it no problem!
Katie took a deep breath, knowing that without the weather changes to enhance it, Weather Ball lost a lot of its punch. It was still a decently strong attack though, and she twirled the ends of one of her long ponytails in her fingers. "Don't worry about it, Genki," she said. "Take it, and give 'em a Flame Wheel in reply." The Monferno nodded, and darted forward on all fours. his flaming tail streaming out from behind him like a fiery banner. The Weather Ball hit him hard, but he didn't allow it to slow him down. He fixed his gaze on the Roserade, his body suddenly becoming wreathed in flames as he neared her, wanting nothing more than to prove to Katie that she could rely on him.

If you say so? Keegan repeated mentally, raising an eyebrow. What, no insisting she could do it? No yelling? No childish tantrums? Who is this impostor, and what the hell had she done with his Kassie? He glanced down at her, unable to believe she had given in so easily. He figured she'd probably bring it up again at some point though, and was just too tired and stressed out to argue it right now. But, he'd managed to impress her, which was something, at the very least. He felt her shiver and he pulled her a little closer to him, blissfully unaware that he was the real reason for her sudden unease, and not the creepy mansion and atmosphere around them. "It is creepy," he agreed, squinting up at the massive building, wondering what sort of things were lurking inside. It was his turn to feel a rush of excitement, and his arm tightened around her as they neared the front doors. If his assumptions were correct, this place was sure to be teeming with strong Pokemon, and the prospect of training some of his own Pokemon against them was almost more exciting than the rumors of this place being haunted.
He picked up his pace, green eyes wide with anticipation as he practically kicked open the front door, but seeing as it was nearly rusted off its hinges he barely so much as had to touch it. The place was definitely worthy of its condemned title, as there was dust and debris everywhere. Parts of the ceiling had caved in, leaving large gaps that gave clear views of the second floor. Keegan gazed upward, wondering if a meteor or something had come shooting down out of the sky and punched a hole all the way through the building, as he could see stars twinkling down at them, and he gave a low whistle. "Whoa, talk about your fixer-uppers," he mumbled, relinquishing his hold on Kasiya as he ventured further inside. ===== Bugsy nodded, understanding Sam's decision. After all, he'd just withdrawn his own Butterfree, and he could respect that she knew when her Pokemon had reached their limits. "No problem, he did great," the young Gym Leader said, nodding. His Scyther returned to his side, arms folded across its chest. Both trainer and Pokemon looked on in confusion as Sam's next Pokemon, a Marshtomp, gave a bit of a flashy entrance. Bugsy couldn't help but smile a bit; a spirited Pokemon meant a good challenge. Ice Beam, huh? he thought, still grinning as he gave the nod to the Mantis Pokemon. She really has done her homework.
"Agility," Bugsy said quietly. These moves, while effective against his Pokemon, didn't seem very practiced, though that didn't mean he wanted his Scyther to stand there and be target practice for the Marshtomp. The Mantis grinned, feeling all its limbs loosen up which significantly raised its speed, and it darted off quickly to the left and out of the way of Star's Ice Beam. ===== Miharu couldn't help but feel a little smug for having helped Sam prepare for this match, though there was also a small feeling of guilt. She frowned at that thought though, realizing she had nothing to feel guilty for. All she'd done was give Sam some handy advice on type match-ups (and sure, she'd recommended highly usable moves and even loaned out her HMs) and help to build up her confidence. That was the kind of thing friends did for each other, right? Miharu wrung her hands in her lap, watching the Scyther's quick movements as she wondered if she'd done the right thing in helping. She sighed deeply and concentrated on the match in front of her, knowing that Star would have to be quicker, stronger, and more accurate with her Ice Beams if she was going to bring down the Mantis Pokemon.
