swampyface everybody is talking about "region band"? um...is that like IMEA? cause we dont have that in southern illinois.... what is it? Well, in CT we have CMEA...so it might be the same thing.
Region band is when you audition for regionals (eastern, southern, etc; basically the different parts of your state), and your score is high enough to play in the band for your region, and, well at least where I live, if your score qualifies, you can audition for the state band, too.

In the flute section I'm in there is alot of drama, because there is one boy in it. I love playing my flute, but since I am in Jazz Band and usually have the trumpet part I'm switching to trumpet. I know it will be hard and I will miss my flute tremedously. Just because I will start playing trumpet doesn't mean that I won't respect flutes. Flutes rule and that is final! No matter what other instrument you or I play on the side.

Except there are around 20 regions in the state, since it's so huge, and it's harder here to make state. They take the top 6 from each region, where about 120 people are trying out. Then three regions in an Area tryout again, and the top six there go to state, and receive new tryout music. Then at state, everyone who made it tries out for chairs, and there is a big concert.

Parmesan-Garlic Cheez-It I've been working so much on the flute in the past month or so; I've had pit orchestra rehersals for the musical, lessons, I practiced my regionals piece, and also I've had band class every day.
However, the musical is over, regionals is over, and I only have lessons once a week, so my schedule is a lot easier for me.
I did really well at regionals surprisingly. Flutes are so competitive (at least where I am), and my score was astounding (a 247 out of 270). At districts, which I guess are pretty much regionals, just a little bigger, I got a 100 out of 100. Second year in a row that i've gotten that.

last night in my lesson, after i play the all state audition piece, my instructor said that if i play like i did last night, in my audition, then i can easily make first chair.
now i'm freaking out because I want it so bad, and it's so much pressure to know that it's even possible that i could do that. ugh.
