Sam nodded to herself as she saw Devlin pushed away from the Butterfree. She had figured the under-powered attack wouldn't affect the Butterfree, so it missing didn't change anything.
"Come on, Devlin, fight it! Try one more time! Anything Devlin, try anything!" Devlin didn't respond, though he began climbing high into the air. 'It looks like he is going for a Drill Peck...Good'. "That's good Devlin, keep going!" Devlin strained against the paralysis locking up his wings, and he eventually reached a satisfactory height. He hovered for a moment, proud of himself, before tucking his wings in for hopefully the last time, and diving for the Butterfree. Sam noticed that while his beak glowed, it glowed dimmer then it had previously. 'He was a fine just a few minutes ago, the paralysis must be really taking it out of him. If he survives this, he may just have to be switched...Wait can I switch? Crap I can't remember Bugsy's rules! Uh...Shoot. I guess then I just keep him until he faints. Which won't be long against the Scyther of his.' Sam turned her attention back towards Devlin who was now nearing the Butterfree.

The reassurance that Jaeshan gave her sent a surge of warmth through the redhead. She wouldn't raise a fuss if he hadn't really liked it or wanted nothing to do with her anymore. The fact that he wasn't mad at her or didn't want to leave her made her more giddy then after winning her gym badges. Grinning brightly at Jaeshan she nodded in yes and screwing up her courage she put her hand in his. "Yeah, visiting a pokemon center would be a good idea." Robin started to head off feeling that this day was really going very well.
"If you want we can go to the mines when we get to Oreburg so you can practice on some more rock pokemon. Or Ace and I can help you with a mock battle?" She wanted Jaeshan to be at his best if he was going to challenge Roark. Besides if she wanted her next badge she needed a lot of training to. She needed to work with Black*Star some to, he couldn't get into a battle right now but he could probably practice his moves.
Unlike Turtwig, Black*Star hadn't been embarrassed with his trainers displays of affection. Still they seemed to be moving on now and that meant that there were more places for Black*Star to leave his name! The more people saw it the more informed they would be on his awesomeness. He really needed a battle though to show how cool he was to that arrogant little Turtwig that thought it was the better pokemon then him! Plus he had to show up that Ace guy to, how could he ignore him like he did! Like he wasn't even worth the fire starters time!

The rocks thrust up beneath the corsola as she landed amonst them with a crash. But the coral pokémon wasn't down and out yet. Spikes of rocks surrounded her limiting her manueverability but also giving her a certain amount of cover. She hunkered down as she listened over the howl of the sandstorm for her trainers command.
Crush cringed just a bit as Kalikea landed hard right into the Rock Tomb attack. But he knew Kali was made just as tough stuff. "Kali! Harden your self up some more, don't let them soften you up!"
Kali heard the command and her thick hide got thicker.

"BZZZZZZZZZZ!" The beedrill took the taunt and launched into a fury attack its stingers sweeping forward again and again and again.
Booky hopped about in search for some seeds. Hop. Flutter. Hop hop. Flutter. It wasn't long before the Hoothoot was a distance away from the group.
Calculus continued to its analysis of the event before it.

"Anything else?" Mitsu reiterated, humming in thought for a moment. "No, not really. I guess they succeeded in my case." She placed emphasis and used air quotes as she spoke to the word "succeeded". Mitsu avoided looking Mike in the eyes, he'd always been good at catching her lies. Perhaps, just maybe, if he didn't see those lying purple eyes of hers he would believe her. Believe that nothing really happened, believe that she was really okay.
Hah. Who the hell was she kidding. But that wasn't going to stop her from trying. Inconsistent and in denial.

"Weather Ball!" Gardenia commanded, confidence ringing in her voice. She'd do the best she could to make Katie's victory as difficult as possible. After all, nothing was set in stone and her victory was not guaranteed!
Roserade's copies were situated in a line, making them easy targets for Katie's Staravia. The Steel Wing tore though the copies easily, even hitting the real deal but not before she got a chance to launch one last Weather Ball before the rain let up.

The right side of Mike's lips sunk into his mouth as Mitsu continued to play him for a fool. "You know," he said, walking slowly towards her. "I may not be a sanctioned doctor, or have a PHD in psychology, but I do know a bit of how the mind works. You could say in terms of self-denial-heehee-I'm a practiced professional." He crept up to the girl, leaning over her right side, then quickly, and silently, whipping around to her front from the other side, staring right in her eyes. "Such lovely eyes. You've always had such lovely eyes. They have always been able to tell me what your words could not. Like a window to your soul." He smiled as he gazed deep into her expression; her face like a road map to her sorrows. "How long have the nightmares plagued you?" he asked, the question nearly directed to himself. "I can see that they have assailed you for quite some time. You get these little marks around your eyes from them. Very small, almost invisible, but I can tell. I can see. I saw them grow on my own face."
He giggled at Mitsu's silence. "I see-oh wait! I do see! Oh you're having the headaches too! I know! I know! The way you react to my voice, it's like a wheel of nails peeling out on a chalkboard. OH, is it terrible! The headaches that is, not my voice. I've always thought I had a nice voice." Mike clapped, continuing his examination of the obviously disturbed Mitsu. "Nag. Nag. Nag. That little voice inside your head must be screaming. Telling you to not to tell me everything. It comes from right here." he placed a gentle finger above his right ear, and did the same on Mitsu's head. "I know. I know it well." he continued, his eyes not leaving hers. "It begs you to stop, because it can't handle the truth. It can't wrap its tendrils on the truth-the truth that there is something terrible in your mind-in your memories." Mike wore a strange expression as he spoke. It was as if he sympathized, but there was a hint of pride, joy even. "It screams for you to withdraw, to withhold all those tasty tidbits, but you want to let them out. You want to shout them to the world, to share with someone your pain, your agonies, your sickness. Aha-ahaha!" Mike clutched the side of his head as he began to laugh. "You see, Mistu! I never said being like me was a good thing. In fact, it's-HAHA-quite terrible! I walked down the same-hee-PATH-HAHA-as you! I held it all in. I bottled it up. I convinced myself that nothing was wrong! Ahaha! And look-haha-look where that got me!" His emerald eyes widened and his pupils thinned to narrow slits. He let loose a chilling giggle. "You try to stop yourself-the voices-they call out for you to stop! To halt! TO CEASE!" He took a step backward and held his head, the laughter never ceasing.
"I-haha! I don't know what would be better! Would I more like to save you, my friend? Would I like to staunch this flow, or would I...would-heeheehee-would I like a partner in MADNESS!" The boy threw his hands out and shrieked a horrid, haunted shriek. It was barely human. "EEEEEEEEE-HEE-HEE-HEE!" He flailed about, reveling in his own insanity. "Hee-hee-ha-ha-HA-HA-HA! The best part is! THE BEST PART IS! I'm not even done yet! There's more to this story!" He stomped his foot down and threw his head forward, staring deeply into Mitsu's eyes. The haunted and understanding look was now gone. This was Mike as she'd never seen him before. He was frightening her, and he knew it. He loved it.

Kasiya had to stop for a second as her hood had been ensnared by one of the gnarled ends of the cut metal, and she was careful not to tear it as she untangled herself. She felt and heard the fence rattle loudly above her though she didn't know why, assuming that Keegan had grabbed it and started shaking it for some odd reason. She pulled herself up to her knees and brushed the dirt from her hands, looking up in time to see Keegan land on the ground in front of her in true ninja/acrobat/amazing style. She stared in amazement for a moment or two, wondering if a feat like that required applause. "Wow Keegan, that was awesome!" she said, getting to her feet. She tried not to sound and look as impressed as she felt, though her eyes clearly gave her away. "Could you teach me how to do that?" She hesitated for a moment before holding out her hand to help him up, wondering if hopping the fence like that had aggravated his already-damaged ribs. Even fully-clothed, she could still see the large, colourful and ugly bruise decorating his bare skin, and she bit her lip as another stab of guilt burned in her stomach.
=-=-=-=-= Jake's cheeks flushed again when she put her hand in his, and suddenly he felt too hot in his aviator jacket, which was still badly in need of dry cleaning. He idly wondered how he'd be able to get it cleaned while he had no money, turning his head to look at Robin as she mentioned the mines. He frowned a bit at that, as even though he knew more practice against all those Rock-types would be great, he really didn't want to go wandering around in some deep, dank, dirty old mine. Somehow, the thought of the cool dampness made his skin crawl and for a moment he could see the darkness encroaching upon him, leeching into the corners of his peripheral vision. "Maybe, we'll see," he said, shivering involuntarily, though he tried to shrug it off.
The darkness slowly shrank back after a few moments, leaving his vision fully intact and clear, but he suddenly felt cold, despite the warm flush he'd taken on after the kiss he'd shared with Robin. His palms felt icy and clammy and he let go of her hand, rubbing his own two together in an attempt to bring some warmth back into them. When that failed he jammed them both deep into the pockets of his pants. Even though he knew it was only his mind playing tricks on him, he could suddenly feel the icy cold water on his skin, feel the burning of the salt in his nostrils, in his throat, and he coughed, though it did little to ease the fire in his nose and throat. His body felt heavy, like gravity had intensified, and suddenly, right then and there, he remembered exactly what it had been like when he thought he was drowning. "I was drowning... at sea?" he murmured, both intrigued and terrified by the memory. How he'd managed to land himself in the sea was still a mystery to him. He shook his head and blinked a few times, snapping out of his little daze. "So uh, Oreburgh then," he said quickly, tugging his jacket a little tighter around his shoulders. "What's it like there?"

Cerulean city had a nice breeze running through it, probably blowing in from the water and down from the mountain. Having used some left over cloth from his discarded jacket, Crenu had tied the icepack to his left hand to keep it in place while he trained. Looking out into the horizon and spotting the huge mountain and thought about it for a moment, maybe he should try going through Mt. Moon later and look for a Moon Stone. "Hmm, the Moon Stone evolve Nidorino and Nidorina, as well as Jigglypuff Clefairy. I've no interest in Jugglypuff or Clefairy, a Nidoking or Queen might be good additions to my team...though I don't really need another ground or poison type." If he recalled there were no pokemon worth his time in Mt. Moon, nothing worth catching or battling on the direct path from Cerulean to Pewter. No, after this contest Crenu was probably going to take the badge of this town and then head back home to Johto. Riza had mentioned heading back home as well, but in all honest he didn't really care where they went after this. "...huh." He found it odd, he didn't think he or her, he thought they. Crenu's mind automatically put them together now, his plans were no longer his plans, now it was their plans. Shaking the thought from his head Crenu centered his thoughts back to the task at hand, that which mattered now. Going from left to right, Crenu touched every pokeball on his belt lightly, not releasing any of his pokemon just yet. Fearow was his battle choice for the contest...or was it? Fearow had been trying the spirals and was getting better, but for some reason Crenu just didn't feel like this was the right more. his gut told him otherwise, and while Crenu normally ignored his gut and went with his brain, this time he couldn't help but to listen. "There isn't enough diversity in his moves. He might get past an appeals round but I don't think Fearow is made for contests. But that only leaves...him." Crenu shook his head, he really didn't want to do this. He had avoided the idea from the start, but now that he'd gained some badges and gained back lost ground with his pokemon by trading away the rebellious Hitmonlee, it might have a chance of working. Really, the more Crenu thought about it the mroe it was clear that he had no other choice. "...damn. Poliwhirl, get out here." He said roughly as he tapped the third pokeball from his right.
Again pain shot through his arm as the burned away flesh from his right hand made it impossible to touch anything without making him cringe. He was going to have to get over it or find a way to numb his hand, because he couldn't afford to show any expressions of pain during the performance or risk losing points. Not to mention he didn't like showing signs of anything to begin with. As he contemplated his options for dealing with severe burns Poliwhirl had already materialized before him and was giggling like mad, probably just happy to be out of the ball. Unable to contain his fits of laughter Poliwhirl jumped onto his hands and started laughing even louder. Crenu finally snapped back to reality, eying Poliwhirl curiously. He was a natural at showboating, made for the crowd and the fame. He was sure to fill the role of contest battler, but at the same time he was arrogant and loved to play around too much. On top of that, Poliwhirl definitely had a sadistic personality, it made him great for battling but when the time came to stop or to go on the defensive, he was more concerned with putting the hurt on his opponent to listen to reason. All in all this made Poliwhirl a powder keg that could end up blowing up in his face. This was either a very good idea or a very bad one, and Crenu was leaning towards the latter.
"...Poliwhirl, that's enough." He said with a look of cold steel, but Poliwhirl wasn't buying it. As if to test him, Poliwhirl balanced himself on one hand and pointed the other at Crenu, a stream of bubbles blasting out all of a sudden and whizzing by his trainers head, one of them actually grazed Crenu's hair and popped. But Crenu didn't move. He simply kept staring at Poliwhirl, ignoring the sting from the bubble that burst on him. "Here. Now." Poliwhirl held his hand up still, staring Crenu down ready to shoot at him again. But as he stared into Crenu's eyes his hand started to shake, his trainer meant business! Hopping off of his hand and back onto his feet, Poliwhirl crossed his arms and looked at Crenu, annoyed as hell that he wasn't getting his way. "I'm going to enter you in the contest. Fearow's out. You're one of my stronger pokemon and I feel you can do this job better than him. So don't let me down." Poliwhirl perked up a bit at Crenu's words, chuckling a bit. Of course he was better than that stupid bird, Poliwhirl was the best pokemon on earth! He could swat that golden pigeon out of the sky any day, it was good of Crenu to finally admit that he was the best choice. But still, he wasn't on board with this contest thing and showed it by turning slightly away from Crenu. "...heh, don't get to full of yourself. Just because you can probably pull it off better doesn't mean I have to use you. You can stay in this pokeball for as long as I see fit, letting you out to compete for me is a privilege. Now, think about this. You out there, on stage. Hundreds of people watching you and only you as you battle it out with another pokemon. Using your playful moves to bounce aroudn the stage and make the other pokemon look foolish, make them look like utter trash while you destroy them. Sound fun?"
That was the ticket, Crenu hit the nail on the head with that one. Poliwhirl started giggling darkly, that sounded very fun! Tone of people watching him play aroudn with some chump and humiliate them, cheering for his greatness while the losers sat in pools of tears and shame. Wonderful! He was all ears now. "That's what I thought. But like I said, this is a privilege. You have to obey me now. Do as I say, and only as I say. Stop when I say stop, move when I say move. Attack and defend as I see fit, listen to me and you'll annihilate the opponent no problem. If you can do that then you're free to enjoy trouncing every pokemon you meet as you see fit. Do you think you can handle that Poliwhirl? If not, it's back in the pokeball for a long long time. Very long. I'll send you into storage and forget about you. And don't think I won't, there are plenty of other pokemon waiting to take your place. Is that clear?" That was a no brainer, Poliwhirl was sold as annihilating other pokemon. Uncrossing his arms he nodded, this was exactly what he wanted to do. Crenu replace him? Ha, never. Poliwhirl was number one, and he would make sure no one would think otherwise.

Being that Robin's pokemon ability at times seemed to be Oblivious she didn't seem to notice Jaeshan's momentary discomfort at the mention of the mines. He had muttered something but it wasn't really her business to listen in on something like that. She wasn't quite sure what was going on between them but she wasn't going to pressure anything, so when Jaeshan let go of her hand she wasn't to upset. So as they walked on the approached the entrance to the cave, Black*Star was surprisingly waiting for them. "Hey there Black*Star, waiting for us?" Robin asked with a small smile on her face.
Turning back to Jaeshan who asked about Oreburgh she gave him a grin to as they headed into the cave. "Oreburgh is pretty cool, there is a lot of mining equipment there that looks really cool. The mines are awesome to! There are all these cool caves and stuff, though you can only go in the main tunnel since you don't work there. Still I had to find Roark in the tunnels, he works in them you know? He has two jobs a gym leader and a miner in the tunnels, that's really impressive isn't it?" Robin actually had the intelligence to not mention that Roark was also super cute to. Not as cute as Jaeshan though.
~~~~~~
According to the map Dante was at the wrong exit. 'Great, just great.' Dante thought to himself before steering them towards the correct direction, he didn't feel like walking through town again so they just walked along the border of it. The two of them walked in silence Dante checking his map on his phone every once in a while before putting it back.
What if the stores did sell the desired items? He probably didn't have enough money for them now that he thought about it. Maybe he would have to challenge some trainers or something for money, though he wasn't to much of a hustler. Maybe he could challenge the gym in that town? Did they have a gym? Well they probably did if it was a big enough town to be the shopping center of Sinnoh. He still needed to get Kenny to evolve in order to get him to his final form. Geez he had the Duskull for a long time, and a time that he didn't have it either. It had been in the spring cherry blossom festival when he had hatched. That had been ages ago! Even though Dante didn't have much pride, or to much of an ego, the fact that Kenny seemed to be so neglected with so little time spent with him, stung Dante's small bit of trainers pride. Sighing Dante figured he could use the other in a few more battles and spend some more time with the tiny ghost. He should be spending more time with all of his pokemon actually. Glancing over at Apollo he couldn't help but be glad that he was spending time with the fire horse, then again he spent the most time with Apollo.
Ryka had no idea how to come up with an appeal strategy. No idea at all. Sitting under the shade of a tall oak tree, the purple-clad coordinator thought and thought, but no ideas could come to her mind. She absentmindedly watched her Espeon and Pikachu frolic about in the grass, wondering what their appeal should be. The possibilities were endless...
As if inspiration suddenly struck, Ryka frantically reached into her backpack, pulling out a purple (surprise) rectangular object. She flipped it open and pointed it at Iris. The machine scanned the Pokemon, brought up a description, and fired off a list of moves.
"Espeon's list of known moves are as follows: Tackle, Tail Whip, Helping Hand, Sand Attack, Confusion, Quick Attack, and Swift!" The machine barked. Ryka pictured the battle between Riza and Fantina. Remembering how Riza had combined Double Team and Thunderbolt, Ryka thought about which moves of Iris's could be combined to form a beautiful spectacle. "Well...we could focus on her speed, combine Swift and Quick Attack..that could be very pretty." Ryka couldn't help but to picture Riza'a combination, though. It would never beat that electrical cage..
As if hearing the cry of desperation in Ryka's situation, Allegra suddenly decided it was her time. In a flash of red light, Allegra took center stage. Almost immediately, she jumped on Ryka, knocking her over, and nuzzled against her face. Boy, was she happy to be out of her Pokeball! Upon spotting her tail floating around behind her, Allegra ran around in circles trying to catch it. This made Ryka giggle, and a big smile grew on her face. Just then, she realized that she had no idea what Allegra's moves were, either. She pointed the Pokedex at the kitty Pokemon, and it went through the same process.
"Skitty known moves are as follows: Fake Tears, Fake Out, Growl, Tail Whip, Tackle, Foresight, Attract, Sing, Doubleslap, Copycat, Assist, and Charm!" The Pokedex seemed to take a deep breathe after speaking. Ryka examined these moves carefully. There's quite a variety here...a lot of cute attacks. Maybe... A bit of information that caught Ryka's attention was the fact that Skitty evolves with a Moon Stone. Some ideas were starting to form.
"Hello, Allegra! I'm sorry if you really wanted to be in the contest. I thought that since we hadn't really trained together before, it wouldn't be a good idea, but..." Ryka trailed off, for she wasn't quite sure if the Skitty was paying attention. Allegra stopped spinning and looked up with a quizzical expression as soon as she stopped talking, however, so Ryka continued. "Now I'm starting to think that maybe doing a contest together will help strengthen our bond. Do you think you'd want to?" Ryka bent down to Allegra's level and put out her hand, as if offering a confirmation handshake. Allegra stopped her spinning long enough to give an affirmative mew! and extend her paw as well.
By this time, the frolicking Iris and Blitz had come over to see what the commotion was. "Iris, do you think that Allegra here could do the appeals instead?" Ryka gently asked of her Espeon. The dear fox was so understanding, of course she said yes, but that didn't stop her from feeling a bit let down. Ryka gave Iris a scratch on the back. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to make you upset. I feel that doing a contest together will strengthen our bond, you see? Allegra is new to our team, and we all need a chance to get to know each other." Iris understood, and nuzzled her trainer. No, she could wait until the next contest. As long as she was with Ryka, it didn't matter!
Ryka again focused her attention on the Skitty, who was now chasing a group of Butterfree that were fleeing from her terror floating by. Ryka called her over, and to Ryka's surprise, she came right away. Not that Kassie hadn't trained her well, of course! The Skitty just seemed so easily distracted that Ryka was a bit worried that she might not want to train. But when Ryka asked of it, Allegra was totally focused. "Alright Allegra! Before we start training, I have a question...How much do you want to evolve?"
Mike’s piercing green eyes burned, yes, burned. Mitsu winced as he held her gaze, fixed, like a puppet on strings who couldn’t move without the permission of its master. How he had so much control and power over her, she did not understand. His words also stung. She knew they hurt because they were true. They were true. True. True. True.
Lies. Truth. Lies! Truuu. . . lies.
. . . Yes, they were lies. Of course. Lies. Who would believe such a sick and maddening person like the one before her? Clearly, clearly Mike wasn’t the one telling the truth. She was! She knew what was true. He couldn’t read her! He didn’t know, he didn’t understand! The thoughts swirled in her head, crashing into one another as if they were helpless boats caught in a storm, forced to smash into one another over and over until nothing was left but muted silence. The thoughts ceased, and one single voice was left.
Mitsu could not deny the fear that coursed through her veins as Mike cackled and laughed, enjoying his torment of her perhaps just a bit too much. And that’s when he shrieked, when he stared at her with those frightening green eyes. Mitsu was scared and she felt threatened. Her life was at risk and she could feel it. The voice told her so.
He’ll kill you! the voice screamed in her head. Run!
“I can’t,” Mitsu squeaked, her voice barely audible. Unconsciously, she began to step back, inching closer and closer to the cliff behind her.
Then you must get rid of him. The voice echoed in her head, the single monotone voice bouncing around in the emptiness of her mind. It even had the nerve to use a stupid euphemism.
“But he’s my friend,” Mitsu whispered, her eyes not staring at the boy before her anymore, only seeing an empty space where he was standing.
Then you will die.
The word “die.” It was horrible. The voice, the all knowing voice, knew which buttons to press. It knew how to make Mitsu believe. Her purple eyes snapped back into reality, the voice gone for the moment. She eyed Mike wearily, her own purple orbs reflecting fear and horror all at once. “Y-You can’t kill me – haha – NO! You can’t have my life, it’s mine! HAHA. MINE,” she screamed, laughing from fear and something else that her conscious mind could not properly place. And yet Mike’s eyes never stopped their horrible, horrible glare. “G-Get away from me!” She stumbled backwards, falling onto the ground just before the edge of the cliff. Just beyond the edge of an uncertain demise. She screamed again, clutching her head with both her hands and curling up into a ball. Her body began to glow a sickly red color before flashing to a brilliant crimson. Slamming her eyes shut, she tried to block out the words and eyes of the boy before her. What she could not see, could not hurt her.
"Alright Poliwhirl, no that we've got that out of the way, you've got to train. I'm not throwing you into the contest with no practice, it's a battle but it still requires preparation. Bouncing around and doing handstands may impress the judges a little but using your attacks in a flashy an effective way is what will win us the contest. Ice Beam, Mud Shot, Bubblebeamthese are disruptive moves that you can use to stop opponents attacks. Brick Break is your strong move for breaking through in close quarters. Body Slam once you've broken their root is a good follow up attack to any of these. Now go on the defensive and show me an ice beam. Use it to protect yourself by erecting a wall of ice." A simple task, nothing that Poliwhirl wouldn't be able to handle by now. He'd used this technique once before against another foe, but that was a while ago and Poliwhirl had become less defense oriented since then. Poliwhirl was a little sow to start at first, not really wanting to do this. "Look if it helps any, just imagine the opponent charging in and smashing up against your ice wall." This of course caused Poliwhirl to giggle maniacally, that was something he could get behind.
He could picture it clearly, a nice big mean looking wall of ice that would smash everyone! Without a second to waste Poliwhirl was aiming at the ground, releasing the beam of pure cold that crackled in the air and released a wave of frosty energy as it made contact with the dirt. Within seconds ice had begun to form and as Poliwhirl focused on the imaginary target it began to build on itself. Unfortunately this was a bit of a slow process, building up a wall from nothing took more time than it would for a pokemon to attack. "Not fast enough Poliwhirl. Knock it down with Brick Break and try again. Put more energy into it, no need to hold back here. You're not going in if you can't even do this." Poliwhirl looked at Crenu and shook his head, no way was he being left out! Fist aglow with power he slammed it into the small wall he had just made, shattering it into small ice crystals that scattered about like glass.
Riza's mind was partially paying attention to her Pokemon, and partially considering her options for tonight's contest. When she'd first left home, Pokemon-less, all she could think about was obtaining a partner so that the two of them could start their training as a coordinator and performer. She'd never really considered having more than one Pokemon with her, even after that kind woman had allowed for Akima to go with her after her accident in the Ice Path. Now, here she was, with six undoubtedly talented Pokemon in her care, all of whom with their own strengths and weaknesses. Yula's evolution replayed in her mind, and she knew that a beautiful, graceful and elegant Pokemon like her would be perfect for a contest, be it appeals or the later rounds. Akima's attacks were all better suited for the battle rounds as well. Riza sighed, and closed her eyes. Why did this have to be so hard?
She idly looked back to her Pokemon, where Plua was squawking loudly and diving at the Dratini with what looked to be a Peck attack. Riza wondered what young Faustus would do, as he looked utterly terrified. The dragon's eyes suddenly glowed with a golden yellow hue, and electricity rippled along his sleek serpentine body. He waited until Plua was within striking distance before unleashing the electricity in a weak wave. It crackled loudly and coiled itself around the Fearow's body, quickly tingling down her spine and making her body feel sluggish and unresponsive. In return she delivered a sharp peck to the Dratini's head, and he recoiled a bit, resisting the urge to flee the battle. He remembered his training back in the Dragon's Den, knowing that he had to be fearless, but it was easier said than done. He steadied himself and watched Plua as she struggled to stay airborne. He could do this, he could do this! Could he? * * * * * Katie knew that if Noa had been in top form, evading that watery Weather Ball would have been a cakewalk. Noa didn't even have enough energy left to cry out as she hit the ground, water sloshing all around her as she skidded to a stop. Katie smiled ruefully and recalled the fainted Staravia. "You were awesome, Noa," she said, hugging the poke ball to her chest. "Better than I could have ever hoped for." She put the sphere back on her belt and took a deep breath before removing the last one, and she looked at it for a moment. 'Don't let me down,' she prayed silently as she gently tossed the ball to the arena. The rain had let up now too so she stepped out from under the umbrella.
Genki's appearance on the field was quite welcoming to Katie, and not because he had an advantage over Gardenia's Roserade. It was because this Pokemon had been with her for two years now, and she felt very comfortable with him at her side. The Monferno looked over his shoulder at Katie and winked, giving her a thumbs up. He wasn't sure he could win, but he'd do his best to make his orange haired trainer proud.
"Start with a Taunt!" Katie said, her tone sharp and authoritative. The Monferno nodded, looking back at the Roserade, a playful grin etched on his face. His flaming tail swished back and forth several times before he pivoted on the spot, now waggling his butt at the Bouquet Pokemon. He looked over his shoulder and pulled down his eyelid, sticking his tongue out at her in the most taunting manner he could manage. It was a bit childish, yes, but taunting the Roserade into attacking would prevent it from using its Rain Dance again for quite some time. * * * * * Roxanne watched her Geodude through the sandstorm, knowing it wouldn't last much longer. She had few options available to her right now, but her look of determination didn't falter. She enjoyed a good challenge, especially when the odds were stacked against her. It made awarding her badge to the winning trainer much more satisfying.
"Don't let up, Geodude," she said, nodding. "Rock Throw!" Again, she didn't think her Geodude would be able to damage the Corsola enough to eke out a win, but she intended to weaken it as much as possible before it was taken down. The rock and ground-type began snatching cantaloupe sized rocks from the gym's floor and began hurling them one after another at the Corsola. Several bounced off the former Rock Tomb that served as her cover, but both she and Roxanne hoped a few might possibly get through.
All around him...all he could hear was screaming. Loud, ear-drum piercing screams. He held his head and fell to his knees, groaning. He grit his teeth. "Shut uuuup!!" he cried out, thrashing. The crying and screaming continued. Despite it being so bright and beautiful, all that existed was that screaming. He stood up and clenched his fists to his sides, closing his eyes tightly. "Will you go away!!!" he roared before he opened his eyes and shot up like a bullet. He was panting heavily. What a dream. The boy glanced over at Themis, who was still sleeping like a baby. Yet the screams and crying were still going. They sounded close-by.
"What the hell is going on out there?" he hopped off the bed and haphazardly put on his yellow shirt, buttoning the bottom two before opening the door. In the hallway, he saw the pink haired Sasha crumpled on the ground, crying. He walked over and knelt down next to her. "Hey, hey," Kilik whispered, putting his hand on her shoulder. Beside her rested the key to the room. A red light was flickering on the handle. I guess it's not working? he scooped up the key and slid it through the slot and heard the door unlock. He opened it slightly and looked down at Sasha. "The door's open now," he laughed, holding his hand for her to take so she could stand back up.
-*-
"An ambush?!" he said, feeling his honor totally thrashed by such a foolishly foolish comment! "Me, capable of something so underhanded! You sir, are quite silly. Very very silly!" he scooped his badge out of his pocket and held it up. "Detective Mazarin of T.E.A.M. I am merely on the lookout for suspicious activity around Mt. Moon. Though I am not inclined to believe you all are capable of 'suspicious activity', one can never be too careful!"
What an assumption! Mazarin, doing something suspicious! Haha, the very idea was maddening! Silly, even! He looked at Train. "I certainly hope you don't feel the same, See-nor-ee-duh. I'm only here for both of your safety!"
Keegan couldn't help but feel somewhat elated by Kasiya's impressed expression, though when she held her hand out to help him up, he stared at it as though it were made of the fragilest porcelain and would shatter at the barest of touches. No, he definitely wasn't feeling guilty for his earlier actions. He grit his teeth with the realization of why she was offering to help him, and on cue his ribs throbbed feverishly, sending ripples of heat coursing over his whole body. He could see the unease on Kasiya's face and he forced a smile, taking her hand though he did get to his feet under his own power. He felt infinitely stupid about not thinking that through all the way, but then again he'd never been one to fully think anything through.
He grimaced inwardly at his own lack of foresight and shook his head, though Kasiya's request made his green eyes go wide with disbelief. "Teach you? How to climb a fence? Yeah, sure, right away," he scoffed. He was quite sure that would go over well, as he could already imagine her falling on her head and hurting herself, possibly even breaking bones, and he quickly dismissed the subject with a wave of his hand. "You'll hurt yourself, and I'm not going to have that on my conscience." ===== Butterfree drifted back sluggishly as the Murkrow came in for a Drill Peck again, the paralysis making him easy to read. Even still, the severely weakened Butterfly Pokemon couldn't quite put enough distance between itself and Devlin, its wing getting painfully clipped in the process. Butterfree fluttered to the ground, breathing heavily. Its face was still one of determination, and it seemed eager to fight to the end, but Bugsy wouldn't allow it. He knew his Pokemon was done, and he wasn't about to let it get needlessly hurt because of his pride.
"You put up a good fight, Buddy," the young trainer said, glancing across the field to Sam as Butterfree was pulled back into its PokeBall with a beam of red light. Despite her few mistakes with rules and respectfulness and whatnot, she was doing quite well. He tossed the Net Ball onto the field once more, revealing his ace (well, not his true ace, but one of his signature Pokemon, nevertheless). The energetic Scyther quickly struck a battle pose. Bugsy smiled, feeling better now that the Mantis Pokemon was back in the fray. "Vacuum Wave," he said, his voice quick, and sharp.
The Mantis didn't so much as utter a sound or twitch an eye. Slowly, it raised both scythes, fixing its gaze on the Murkrow. The faintest hint of a smile appeared on its face as it took a step forward and slashed both arms in a downward motion, sending a burst of air speeding towards the little bird that was too fast for the human eye to track. ===== Miharu said nothing as the Butterfree was withdrawn from battle, too tired to continue. Her little outburst from before still had her feeling pretty embarrassed and she was reluctant to make any more noise whatsoever. She took her badge case from her bag and opened it quietly, her eyes tracing the shape of each of the five badges that lay neatly inside. Each of these badges seemed to have their own story behind them, and she smiled faintly as her mind quickly went over each battle.
Her match with Falkner had been her first, and hardest match, and even now she wished she'd waited a little longer before challenging the Violet City Gym. Her own match with Bugsy had been fun and fast paced, and she could remember just how swift and deadly the Mantis had been. Her battle with Blanca had been fast-paced and action-packed as well, as the acting-gym leader had been quite the trainer. She remembered the aggravation she felt as she fell through the strange, dark floor of Morty's gym, and her glaring mistake of having tried to use Starrie's Swift against his Ghost-type Pokemon. Lastly, her battle with Chuck was still fresh in her mind, as the large man had been not only intimidating, but very passionate about his training, as well. She looked up at the ceiling, wondering what her match with Jasmine would be like.
