You walk through the dark, shadowed forest. In the middle of a clearing, with one single ray of light centered on it, is a mirror. What do you see when you look at it?
I see my reflection - I see who I really am inside.
I see who I have become - all my past efforts and endeavors roll before my eyes.
I see potential - the future, with all its possibilties, becomes clear to me.
I see my inner demons. I recognize them, so that I may conquer them.
I see darkness; the mirror is not a mirror, but a window to my soul.
I see someone else - the mirror is not a mirror, but a window, showing me my heart's true desire.
I refuse to examine the mirror. It is an illusion - I do not need it to tell me what I already know.

Perrault, a tad worried, gulped down his drink and ran out the door. He had to follow Remido; his curiosity demanded it of him. Quietly, the elf sprinted after them, keeping a fair distance as not to attract their attention.

-----

"I-I think I cracked a rib," groaned the elf, "but I think I'll be fine. Where... Where are the others?"

He could not reach the man's hand, for he was bound in place by the rubble.

-----

"Yes, Lord Bael." Telgove bowed low to the ground before he turned to relay the orders to the Baeltan soldiers.

Minutes later, cheering was heard, and the armies of the Northern Mountains split up and began to move steadily toward the two directions specified by Bael. It did not take a scholar to know that there would be blood tonight.

((I have to plan my post for Ralendine. As for Tanessa, post a stall, so we can continue. I guess. xD))

At about a half-circle around the current rung of Halbrontr on which Perrault resided, along the entire side, traveling vertically down and up, was a pulley system. Perrault would find one being used by Remido and the blue-haired woman, whilst another rose in that descending one's place.

Waiting by the area where the next pulley was soon to appear, was another blue-haired man--this one a youth with human-colored skin.

~

Dakon sighed, moved forward two inches, and took hold of Diine's hand. He gave an experimental tug, testing how difficult pulling the elf free would be.

~

Bael deliberated within his own mind once more, before deciding what his personal course of action should be, from this point on. Though he could not teleport, a black, iron-clad warhorse had been designated for him. Bael moved into position to travel with his fellow Mindbreakers.

~

Tanessa glanced around, then found the presence of mind to check on her possé. "Yoohoo?" she called, head swiveling left and right in an attempt to locate both Irwin and Cedric. "You two all right?"

((Agreed. Miiiiinefiiiield...))

((As for our Mindbreakers, take the wheel, Fatal.))

-----

Perrault stepped quietly to await the pulley, as the other man did. This blue-haired man... his very look sent chills down the elf's spine.

-----

Diine winced in pain, his ribs being pushed lightly up against the rubble.

"How bad is it?" he groaned.

"Negligible," was Dakon's reply. "Unless you wanted that leg there..."

This was a difficult position. Diine might not be released with two whole legs. Understandably, this posed a large problem that was easily solved, but not very easily acted upon.

Leaning precariously against the pillar, which separated the path from a deadly fall, the stranger glanced in Perrault's direction. "You're an elf," he stated. "What crime did you do to end up this pit?"

Diine cringed at the thought.

"Is..." he started, "Is there no other way?!"

-----

Perrault's mouth drooped in thought.

"I didn't commit a crime..." he replied, "What do you mean?"

More small stones crumbled down from above. Dakon glanced up, and noted that a substantial amount of debris would fall as a balcony soon collapsed. "There isn't much time," he said, emotionless, still looking up. "If you want to live, I suggest you come to terms with the loss of a leg."

He was not trying to be cruel--but life was doing that for him.

~

"Tch, figure of speech," the blue-haired boy said cynically. "Never heard of it?"

The next lift shuddered into place, while the thick ropes used to suspend and lift it eased into their creaky places. Without hesitation, Perrault's neighbor stepped on, before turning to raise an eyebrow at him.

"Getting on?"

Farfarello, feeling extraordinarily bored and under-appreciated, slunk back into the crowd. He moved quickly, avoiding the stares of Eopians and searching for excitement.

((Mindless bump.))

Raedou limped along the cleanly swept passageways of the town Eopia, searching for a certain shop in which he would purchase his essentials, such as new curtains for his caravan. He looked down at the sleeping Tascalon, who snoozed peacefully in the little pouch the Ganzi kept tied to his waist, unmoved by the noise of the crowds that pushed and shoved past him.

He smiled.

Soon enough, he saw a peculiar pair of horns sticking out of the crowd, which either belonged to Farfarello or a Glubin, a hideous horned monkey-like creature which was commonly kept as a guardian sort of pet. These monsters disgusted Raedou to no end. The Ganzi moved closer to the horns, with the intent of indulging his curiosity.

-----

Perrault took a step forward, hesitant to board the elevator.

"Where does this one lead?"

-----

Diine grinded his teeth at the thought of missing a leg. Then, in a sudden fit of panic, the boy began to thrash about in his marble prison, hoping to somehow shake himself free so he could escape. This only disturbed the crumbling balcony further, however, and soon it was sent sliding down the slanted slanted above which it stood. Its fall was unavoidable.

Irwin groaned, "Gramma, I don't want any more of the black stuff..." It would take him a bit to stumble out of disorientation.

----

Hashmal felt rather hungry now. It was a city, there was tons of food about. there should be no trouble finding something to eat that was free...

Farfarello paused in his tracks and cocked his head. He looked immediately left, then more slowly to the right, eyes scanning the crowd before bolting to his left, scurrying low to the ground, tail whiplashing behind him.

Without hesitation, Dakon raised his long, wicked-sharp sword and in a flurry of movement struck the ground below him twice in rapid succession. In the same movement, he threw himself down at Diine's side, kneeling at the same level of height, grabbing hold of the elf. The balcony above finally dropped, and Dakon pushed against nearby rubble with one braced foot, rolling out from under falling death with Diine in tow. The whole, entire act had lasted roughly three seconds, from the first warning groans of rock, to the final stop of the two... minus one leg.

In the first stroke, Dakon had sliced the blade across bare stone--inches away from one of Diine's hands--and in the same after-stroke he had amputated Diine's leg. The blade had caught fire in the first slice, and so the second, cutting blow had been white-hot, slicing cleanly and searing the wound. Infection was impossible, because of the heat that had tempered the blade during the cut. The pain would be immense for a few seconds, but then it should fade away, Dakon decided.

~

"It heads down to the Core," the boy standing next to Perrault explained. "I'm going to watch as the Core reacts. It'll be a spectacle, all right. Colorful, too."

"That demon had best return with news of a real blade soon... I'd hate to fight with my hands... again..." Hashmal growled in displeasure. She sniffed the air and uprooted some plants from a house flowerbox, stuffing them into her mouth in one smooth motion. actually, some water to clean my armor would be nice...

Unfortunately for Hashmal (and possibly Far,) the demon had no intention of finding another sword. The Draon could be content with what he'd found or find her own sword.

He was only focused on regaining his own weapon back.

This in mind, the demon dashed into an alley between two Vatican-esque buildings, leaving the others to what they may.
