I also found an artist before I even got my person.
Sadly my gift if only worth like 5k tops so I'm going to have to get another couple of things to add to it. (Really, it's such a good gift though, I refuse to commission someone else altogether.)

lmao, Anetra. That's true what you are saying about auctions. I bid on an auction because of the name but then got shitty art that looked half assed. What I been doing now is look at the post count in relevance to the bid. Like if the bid is 20k and there is less than 20 posts then there is a good chance I might like the art. It saves time looking at auctions that have poorly drawn art. If the person has just set up their thread and has no bids I'll have a look too. If there are 2,000 posts and the bid is 20k then there is a high chance that the art is not something I'd like. 2,000 bumps/replies and they still can't get higher than 20k? You know something is up with that. It may sound stupid but that's how I do auctions. I don't rely on names anymore! This system has been helping me find some good people with quality art that aren't known at all.
This one big named person whose art style never appealed to me had an auction a few months ago. They always got multi million bids but then left Gaia for a very long time. I only bid on her auction because it was so low and I thought I was getting a good deal. She was very popular in the exchange and for being friends with popular artists. She pulled out of the group/separate auction after her personal bid was only a few hundred thousand gold. The people who she was very popular with that had been bidding extreme amounts on her art probably left Gaia themselves or other reasons.
I had an auction myself with a friend with us both offering full bodies. Our auction got a million but that's it. Her art is stunning and deserved higher bids and so did my own. I won't brag but I'm a pretty good artist. I always thought it was because our names didn't stand out that well.
