Hard...she didn't know the meaning of that word but she took it as somethign negative. Not quite no which meant that he wasn't telling her that she wasn't allowed to do it. Thus she just kept listening, cocking her head as if thinking once more on things. He was given a nod. "Feel it when speaking. Feel it when the metal squeezes for far away attack." Relating what she knew from riders. When the metals of tack parts were pulled in a way that told her to use her breath weapon. She felt the same thing then. "Good, yes?"

"Just don't get all enamored like grandfather, or you'll start forgetting what day it is and the like." Shaking her head lightly, she'd be more interested in learning if she could still see...but when you more or less had to touch everything to learn about it...some things were just too nasty to touch or people were too uncomfortable. But a blink and stiffening a moment at the unexpected action before relaxing and hugging her friend back. "Love you too Shyrae...just be careful. I definitly don't want to make a puppet out of you."

"No I'm not." Okay so she was a little, and she had tried to remind herself that Kaznec probably didn't intend it like it looked like her did...his mind didn't work that way. But there were always possibilities of epiphanies. She swallowed both from the former piece of topic and then from the latter..how did she want to answer that. She couldn't...as if saying something made it seem too real and too true, and ruined what she thought was her life. After all...no one looked at the rider dragons as useful. They were more or less pets, beasts useful for few things outside of basic natures because that is what they had been made to be. Thusly just a nod to the question...the pieces seem to fit. Swallowing again to push down emotions better left in and taking a few breaths.

Already resting in the sand, he watched as ships went about their own thing, merely waiting and being patient and watching. Eagerness could be seen as something suspicious and he had his story straight for this place. At least there was that...and no doubt, the questions would come of both his existance and more importantly from Kaznec who would fuel the fire of trust with his newfound knowledge.

Fang stormed out of his cabin, and over to the cage, cocking his pistol and aiming it at one of them.

"What right do you have to be laying any claim or force on my ship you misbegotten little vermin!?"

too much planning had gone into this to let it slip by, and his usual calm demeanor had slipped as well. he had them. had them within his grasp, and these little beasts were making it slip through his fingers like sand. this was not part of his arrangement.

"I don't have it. if I had it, I wouldn't be needing to ask you for help."

before pointing out a place to call a port.

"Alright. once settled, mister richards, get us fresh water, and wood. anything edible, particularly of the plant variety, we need some restocking. this is not a pleasure stop, so don't think anyone is getting out of the work we need done. that means you elves as well. Shyrae, feel free to go with galley for anythng we might need out of this, Sav, keep watch on that dragon. any shift, any sense of him turning anything on us from your earlier report, and I want to know about it."

glancing up.

"Des, you get kanzec and gem, and lets have a meeting in my cabin. we'll let the blue stay with bell for that. just need a quick rundown on everyone's opinions and any information we have on blackie out there."

Des growled lightly...but shook her head and glided from one ship to the other, landing lightly.

"Kanzec, Gem...Hunter is requesting a group meeting in his cabins concerning our situation and the black dragon."

And so help her if they got all flirty she'd kill someone. not sure yet if it'd be gem or hunter.

Rather surprised that she understood his somewhat scientific, somewhat ambiguous language for a concept that was hard to describe in itself. And it seemed like it was actually he who was being confused here, communication issues as he had expected. What was metal squeezing? Brow creasing slightly at that but she was giving him usable information. "What kind of attack?" It was probably safe to assume that since she felt the "energy", then she was talking about her breath weapon, which would in turn tell him her element. That was indeed good and he nodded to her question, though he was interrupted before he could even attempt to teach her how to transform. "Yes, good Sky. But I have to work now so teaching will have to be later. Stay on the ship until I come back." Because the black dragon was still out there and still watching them... Giving Sky a firm look and a pat though, he moved over to the other ship as Gem did the same. Hunter had fired on the black before, he probably already had his suspicions as well.

They didn't seem scared of the strange object he held in his hand and pointed at them. Then again they hadn't seemed worried since they got here...but he did tuck behind his sister somewhat as she puffed up her chest and crinkled her snout lightly. "Daddy says we gotta play fair. It's not fair if he's not here. He told you that...you gotta go by the rules." Huffy look with him and hugging onto her brother, trying to soothe him somewhat.

Savvy's ears twitched to Hunter's voice and she gave a light nod before her attention went back to her friend, giving her another squeeze of a hug. What had she gotten her friend into this time?

Sky was not a happy dragon. What? No more? Just like that someone else was going to be taking his attention and waiting? But she didn't want to wait! She wanted to know now! A little growl of sorts as they headed off before she gave a snort and flicked her tail in agitated fashion. Turning a look over her shoulder...her eyes settled on the white one with the raven that was now on her person. Prancing over, she almost roughly nudged at Bell with her snout, causing the other to flail in balance a moment. "Teach change."

And look at that...the little thing had just interrupted their conversation and had come with demands as well. "Teach you what? What change?" Her tone a little clipped as she didn't like being close to the other, but was in a way relieved that she may not get further information from Eilynne...Bell feared the woman knew more about her than she was letting on..."Go play in the water or something..."

Gem nodded and looked to Thobias. "Mister Robins, my ship is in your care at the moment while I go play chit chat. Treat her well. An emerald says he's being paranoid." Thusly with a giggle of sorts she followed after the two dragons and on to meet Hunter in his cabin. "Alright then, what other than the obvious is there to talk about?"

Des stayed quiet by the wall, her tail twitching lightly, while Hunter glanced between both of the others.

"this stinks of a setup. So..we have any other knowledge about him, anything of any interest. even little things. we need to see about defensive measures when and if this turns sour. that little star eyed pest can't give me any assurance that she'll be 'allowed' to help us if blackie out there turns nasty. So I'm looking for suggestions, places of interest, anything we know about the terrain at all that can be used to our advantage."

Fang narrowed his eyes lightly.

"There was no rule that said I can't go and take care of a thorn in my side when the situation presents itself. maybe 'daddy' needs to learn that I am not one to mess with. perhaps taking care of one of you will get the point across."

pulling back the hammer on his gun.

"Unfurl those sails and get me unmired, or one of you is going to be an only child."

So apparently Hunter's thoughts followed the approximate train as his own, though the captain's were slightly overexaggerated. "He says his name is Saewelquin and that he prefers to exist in his natural form, surviving out in the sandseas by himself." All information that could only be taken on faith and he knew Hunter wasn't going to. He'd already fired on the black dragon before they made any contact whatsoever. "If what he says is true, then he also knows the area far better than us and nothing we do now could change that fact. We can't use anything to our advantage if we don't know what exactly we are fighting against. In a battle of purely physical strength, I know I couldn't win against him and neither will any of the group or your crew." A glance to Gem for her opinions on the matter.

"No one could take a dragon that size save another one, a mage of excessive power, or one who had the items required of rendering a dragon nothing more than a big lizard." Blinking and looking to Kaz, "No offense, Fire." Clearing her throat and looking back to the group in general. "But there are those valid points...frankly I'm going to be the optimist...we didn't see a black dragon ever, we didn't see an oasis ever either. Out of place isn't necessarily bad. He could roost right in this place." Shrugging lightly before tapping a finger on her lips that was then pointed at Hunter. "If he's going to want to eat any of us, you'd be first. Are you mad firing on a dragon?" Shaking her head. "But let's face it...we're all at the mercy of one who knows more than us, set up or not. Rats in a trap because we couldn't resist the cheese. Up to the cat if it's going to let us go....but I suppose it would be cattles and dragons in this case." Raise of an eyebrow to Hunter, this should be good. "Any other bright ideas aside from firing bullets in his eyes or a ship figurehead up his nose. By the SandSeas Hunter, he's makes our ships look tiny."

Still not scared. "No. You have to play by the rules. You'll ruin the game." Whispering something into her brothers ear and a point to the red energy that was their caging before they both seemed to settle again, one on either side of the bowl.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 06, 2007 7:33 pm

"the idea was a sound one. I've used it before. it startles them, they move a bit back so they can gauge wether or not I'm really starting a fight, and in the meantime I get room to get past without having to drastically change course."

"Granted, you've never took a pot shot a dragon that can use the Chimera as a bath toy. But as far as physically...maybe Kaz, bell, and me could put up a fight, but we'd still be hard pressed to outdo him just on brute strength. just because he's big doesn't mean he's slow."

Glancing at Des, before looking back at the other two.

"So physically, we're outgunned. magically, well..we're not sure as to the complete level of power of our two elves. they may be much stronger than they let on, and the little pest is still up in the air for her ability to help us. we're in no man's land, the only person that has charts for out here is Fang. but this just stinks of a setup. far too much for my own tastes. it's one thing if it was some color that might blend in someplace. but a black dragon we should have seen well before now simply because he's so contrasting."

looking up at Kaz.

"Get everything you can out of him. any and all information is valuable. I don't care what you have to do. and if he won't talk to you, get Bell to cozy up to him. and if that doesn't work, we'll sick Des on him. I want to know everything about him that we can possibly leak form his mouth, and anything he knows about this area."

Fang looked at them both, moved his pistol toward the more brave of the two.

"I don't play 'games' when the rules change on whims."

and fired.

Neutral expression stayed, even at her subtle insult which she apologized for but he just didn't really care for such things right now. He didn't like the direction the conversation was headed though but chose not to phrase his own concerns, mostly because they were related to more personal issues and that could very well be bias information. "Using that strategy on a wild dragon isn't the same as if he was civil, like the black. And I wouldn't call the Laerethe 'pests', they have their reasons and their methods." Probably the means to destroy any that angered them as well but that was only a speculation. Golden eyes settled on Hunter though, narrowing slightly to betray a certain irritation he felt. "Jae will not be sacrificed for information. I have my suspicions about him as well but until he proves a definite threat, we should approach assertively instead of threatening him ourselves. I can talk to him again but don't attack him again, Captain Hunt. You could be ruining the very opportunity we seek for information out of the desert."
PostPosted: Thu Dec 06, 2007 8:52 pm

"For once I agree with Desi. Whomever implied a large dragon was a slow creature must of caught one on a lazy or lame day." Shaking her head lightly and crossing her arms, a wrinkle of her nose then. "Your bright idea is to seduce him with a dragoness if all else fails. Granted that is one way...men after all. And I'm allowed to say that so none of you men fuss." But apparenlty, Kaznec wasn't going to have that...it was funny. He'd let Desi get thrown to the proverbial wolf but not Ice...her romantic side was fanning itself, damn those womanly tendencies. Back to the matter at hand. "One elf does apparently know dead...making...things...and didn't she pick up that...skeleton? This convesation is getting odd...for goodness sakes, I'm only human." Then a shrug. "Maybe he flies at night...black would be lovely for that. But I think I'll agree...Fire you were able to approach without concern, you may be the best to ask of things...at least get some information to make charts out of."

They flinched of course, huddled together covering their ears from the sound of the pistol firing...but the shot never got near them. The moment it came to the caging, energies flared and disentigrated hte metal mid air, leaving particles to blow away in the wind. "That's a bad noise! It hurts..."

A slight smirk at Kanzec.

"What's the matter. don't think Bell has the goods to convince Black to give up some information? Or is there something else that makes you hesitant."

before glancing at Gem.

"Necromancy. it's the magical art of manipulation of the dead...among other things. none of which are particularly pleasant, let me assure you. and even flying at night...Des would have seen him, or the pest, or the elves might have felt something. they seem to pick up on magical...wakes or signals or whatever it is they call it. but we need information. however we have to get it. and if it means forging some sort of emotional tie in one manner or another that can be used as leverage, then we do it."

looking directly at Kanzec.

"Please remember this is not your city. anything goes out here. if using sex appeal gets you an advantage, you better be ready to use it. I can speak for Des and myself that yes, some of the bodies in our beds over the years have been strictly because people will tell lovers some things that they probably shouldn't."

Des crossed her arms at that one.

"That was a long time ago. and it had better been for you as well. but either way, I get the point."

glancing at Kanzec.

"I suggest you get as much as you can out of him. I don't particularly want to tempt fate, literally, with that one. however, don't think that I wouldn't. and I don't want to hear about any morality or codes if I'm forced to."

"anything else we might need I suggest we get in short order. I've already sent crew to gather supplies. we need to get what we need, and get back outta here, as fast as we can. the less time we spend within claws reach the better."

Fang smirked lightly. so that wasn't as much to keep them in place as it was to protect them from things like this. but, leverage is leverage.

"that noise hurts, does it. well I can make much more painful noises than that. and unless you want me to, I suggest you get my ship ready to move again."

He had no reason to concern himself with Desdemona's safety, both she and Hunter had made it quite clear on several occasions that they only answered to each other. Jae, on the other hand... "Whatever you're insinuating, Captain, is irrelevant. Jae isn't fully healthy yet and she shouldn't be charged with that kind of task. I've spoken with the black dragon once, I can do it again." Not to mention, his curiosity was weighing on his mind too. But a glance over as Hunter and the female dragon fronted him with each other, gold eyes blinking for a moment. "I will use what methods I want to, just like you did before. Morality is set by your own person anyways. I have no interest in yours." Turning to Gem though, he gave her a nod. "Information for mapping charts."

Thus it was back out to the deck with him, taking to the air soon after that and gliding cautiously over to the black dragon's side. Well, his uncle apparently but that was still under prime scrutiny... "You were right about the oasis and the ships are benefiting from it, we thank you for that. But why are you still here? Do you expect some form of repayment?"

She wasn't being left alone and Sky was getting literally pushy with her. "Fine, fine!" Frowning at the little creature she feared so much. "I'll teach you the way I was taught..." She hadn't learned the traditional way, seeing as there just hadn't been that type of attention to give her. All in all...it was fairly easy really once one got the hang of it...instinct kind of took over. Holding up her hands in front of the little dragon, she wiggled her fingers. "See these?" A point to the dragon's paws. "Make those look like these. Make a picture in your head." She wasn't sure how much was getting through to the creature...but unknown spite didn't let her break it down further.

Sky blinked, not quite sure how to handle this. Watching and trying to put things together...oh wait she got it. Paws were like hands...or were supposed to be them. Picture it in her head? Imagination was a new concept to her, but she knew what she looked like and she knew what Bell looked like...so then let's put them both together in our head. Confirming noise and an expectant look back.

Bell kicked off her boots and pointed. "Okay, now these." Wiggling her toes and then pointing to the dragon's back feet. Those look like these. Make the picture." Waiting again for some sort of confirmation. Stepping closer she placed her hands on Sky's chest and pushed on her to make the dragon more or less rear and then rest back on her hind legs. "And you stay like that. See? Like I stand." Another confirmation noise and then there was that rise of silvery mist around her own body. "Make the picture in your head again...now make yourself misty...like sand in the wind. All over, but it's warm. Feels like sand under your paws. Make the picture complete." She knew all it would take was a trigger, and this was how she had learned...she assumed Sky was over ten years old, so it should be easy.

It was hard to follow, but she kept up easily enough. It was about making her body look like the white one's right? It was mimicking. Like the water reflections. Then there was this sand concept...and even if she was calling it sand, the Rider dragon recognized what she was meaning. Same thing Kaz Kaz was talking about, energy. The tingly feeling. Thusly the little dragon concentrated...and sure enough something went off inside of her, a warm feeling before a fine sapphire mist shimmered around her and clouded her figure.

Bell tilted her head at the sight before her when such magical mists started to fade. Standing in front of her was little Sky, now in that neutral form and standing awkwardly and bare as a newborn. It was odd...in this form she was no more than four feet tall....but by her body proportions...she was cleary and adult. Were rider dragon's stunted in height in this form too? That made her worry more...Bell knew she was shorter than most females in Ilindal that were full grown as she was. Another brick added to the wall.

Sky smiled down at herself before it seemed she was inspecting this new body of hers, different features and what not and the different feeling of balance and weight distribution. "Good, yes?" Her voice was indeed that of an adult's tone. Her hair was dark brown, falling to the small of her back and messily around her horns, still sporting her wings and tail in sky blue scaling, a few patches of blue scaling at her forearms and backs of her hands, as well as almost forming a necklace just at her collar bone and rounding to run down her spine. A shakey step, wings and tail tried to keep her balance. "Heavy..."

Another brick. She was top heavy...her tail wasn't bladed and there was no counter balance on the bottom, thus the center balance was off...also like herself. She didn't want it to be true, even a possibility...how could she go back home knowing such things to be true? "You'll get used to it...happy now? So leave me be and go put some clothes on..."

Blink. "Clothes?"

"Uh huh...something freaky in other words. Magic...so wonderous and so unsettling at the same time. Glad I don't have any...I'm sure I'd be irrisponsible with it anyway." Shrugging lightly. "Magic detectors are they? Well that's at least useful." Thus it seemed things were going to be resting on Kaznec to give them a little more comfortable standing to their current situation. "Sorry Fire, but thems the Sandsea ways." Personally she didn't think that the dragons even prescribed to such methods...not that she knew much about how dragons did those sorts of things for leverage or otherwise. Turning a look to Hunter. "You better start praying the clouds part and the salts get some solidity back to them then." Giving a nod back to Kaznec, "Good lad." Watching him go before turning her attention to those in the room. "Well...call this a good turn of events for all it's worth. We're like newborn babes out here."

He was picking at his talons when Kaznec glided over and settled. "Of course I was right, I know the salt beds. I make stops here often as well. Nice relatively sheltered place." He doubted they all thanked him, after all it was natural to be suspicious...the polite was supposed to keep him at ease too. "No repayment. In all honor, I should be looking out for my family shouldn't I? Can't have you wandering around in these dangerous parts...besides, you'll scare all the food away. But aside from that...as I said, I roost here when my needs call for it."

"You're a bully." Sticking her tongue out at him and plopped down behind her bother, curling her tail around his hooves and whispering to him again before plopping her hands over his ears...and he reached back to plop his hands over hers in return. Stubborn little runts weren't they? But games were important. Games were what was fun...why would he want to ruin the game by being a bully?
PostPosted: Thu Dec 06, 2007 10:43 pm

He was being so civil... And yet, Kaz still had that uneasy feeling that wanted to be appeased by stories about his mother and father, and their connections to this apparently lone black dragon. "If that's how you reason it, I suppose so. You've never looked out for me before though so it makes no difference. I don't know you aside from your name." Merely staring back at the very large black dragon for a moment then, calculating certain things in his mind. "If you know the salt beds well, then you must know the closest way out of them. Which direction would that be in? And are there any distinguishing landmarks close by?"

"Clothes." Tugging at her own clothing to give the visual indication to the little Rider dragon...who seemed to now think that and odd thing...facial expression could say so much couldn't it?

"Why?"

Why? Well...that was a good question really. Modesty? "Because...you don't have scales anymore to help with your body temperature." That sounded so much better than modesty and it was true too. Watching her though as she continued to test her new walking patterns, learning to balance herself as best she could...much to the ogling of a few crew members. Giving an exasperated sigh, she took off the wrap around her waist and walked over, draping it over Sky's shoulders and between her wings, covering her up. "That'll do for now..." Not that Sky seemed to care...

"No I haven't. You've never been in my territory before now have you? I'd say that makes sense. I stay away from Ilindal, you stay away from the salt beds. Of course...if you'd like to take the wild route and fight me for your right to be here instead of me, then by all means do tell me." Seemingly stretching his neck some a moment, seeing as he had to look down. "A dragoness doesn't speak much of her clutch mate once she finds her life mate. We were close, but we did have seperate lives. She preferred Ilindal and your father. I did not." And the funny thing was that he was telling the truth really...he had memories of him and his sister pack traveling and what not till they came across that ruby scaled annoyance. And look what happened...Lycear had brought nothing but ruin to Laricalu as far as he was concerned. "Yes I do. If you travel northwest, you'll come to the tapered end of the recent chasm that's opened. To the north is a Rider camp as well as several small outposts that grow thicker the more north you go. Look like almost tower like outcroppings of rock. Af far as ones that would mark a course to your wanted way out...not many. Sand currents maybe...from where the sand shifts enough to flow into the chasm."
