You could probably find somebody with Brawl near your area and play without going to GameStop, in fact I played Brawl myself just yesterday. Where do you live?

I'd say Ike is a pretty bad pick. If you're opponent manages to get a kill, it won't be hard stalling for the rest of the match against you (especially since it's Ike).

Yeah, it's too bad. Luckily for me, the tournament I went to yesterday already had everything unlocked, hehe.

I used Bowser mostly (sometimes Marth for what Bowser couldn't handle) and I actually got pretty far in the tournament. I'd watch out for Toon Link though, he's really annoying, but not nearly as annoying as Pit. Both have extremely spammable projectiles.

problem is I don't know what control style is going to be used and I never touched melee in awhile so even if I play as vets I'm pretty sure I'll lose.

I still play melee alot. I won't be playing my Wii untill Brawl comes out.

I've been tiding myself over by trying to get good with characters I don't play as in Melee.
I tried using Sheik and Zelda, but I got bored with that xP
Right now I am using Kirby, I just wish I had neighbors that are good at Smash so that I didn't have to continually kick level 9's butts (Doctor Mario is a noob >=O )
And I might try to get good with Ness, just because Earthbound rocks. But I pretty much suck with him right now - I think it was a level 5 that beat me when I tried him the other day xP

I'm not sure about whether if you can switch from English to Japanese sounds, but I don't really mind (or care).
Even if Sonic was in the beginning roster, I don't think I would be using him. Unless I got really good with him durring the practice time, I'll still be using my ace Pikachu. Fast and Strong? Small and Cute? That's a pretty good combination. Sonic's got all of those, except being cute.

@Itako: That's awesome. Though, it pretty much sucks for me. No one in my neighborhood has even heard of Brawl/Melee, and don't even own a Gamecube.
Only about two of them own a Wii, and they're like 10.

Yeah, it was a blast, Brawl is the probably the most fun game I've played for a while.

This wasn't in my neighborhood, I drove for at least 30 minutes (which isn't really too bad) to go to Cheney, Washington. There were about 15-20 people there from all around Washington, too. I also got to meet a moderator of smashboards which was cool. I did pretty good for my first time playing, and I think some of my matches got recorded, so some of them might be on youtube eventually.

...And to think, i'll be busy with school while I have Brawl... I know I must focus on my studies, but who can pass up playing such a good game? Honestly!
