"Ah but my friend...quick wit isn't always the same as instinct. One is done without thought, the other is done with a second of thought. That's mostly the differance." Cocking her head as he had cocked his. "Well, new experience for you then. Just keep an eye on your socks." Giving a giggle and a wink at him then watching at he looked over to the ice dragon. "She's feeling better I take it? I think the break will do us good...too many women on this ship." Which is why she didn't have any women in her crew...caused problems.
Sky was just basking as much as he'd let her and it seemed he had no limit to what he had to offer, meaning more nuzzling and what not for him before she watched him and blinked a few time as he asked her questions. She cocked her head as if to think. "Grey. Only grey dragons. Like Sky."
"If a human was smart, they would know exactly which dragons are better to mess with and which ones are better left alone. I wouldn't mess with something that feels like that and I'm an elf who practices necromancy." But a raised eyebrow then at what Shyrae was worried about. "You think one female will go after the other because one may have a crush on him or something of that nature? I've not studied dragon behavior, though usually males are the aggressors when it comes to that sort of thing. Do I need correcting in that thought?"

He was going to toss her overboard. just pick her little prissy a** up and throw her.
"then why is it not your question to answer. that's what I want from you. the assurance that when this turns sour, as I am sure it's going to and probably at a very inopportune time, that your much lauded power and ability will be at ready to assist with it. that I won't be looking over my shoulder and find you gone, or have you waiting until we're almost all dead before you step in. I want the assurance that your abilities will be ready in a proactive manner to deal with a very bad turn of events immediately, not a minute after. not after you discuss in a council with that other one or do whatever it is you do to decide when and where your abilities are 'allowed'.
pinching the brow of his nose.
"I'm begining to really regret this decision."

Shy nodded, "That's true the male usually is. But in this case, I truly believe that the two of them have put a subtle mark on the other that their instincts will both recognize. So, if a male dragon were to take an interest in Jaebelltiah, Kaznec would likely get upset the very same way Jae is now that Sky is cuddling up to him. There are exceptions to every rule but this could just be nothing to worry about at all. I just don't know..." Shaking her head. "I know that makes me sound like I'm talking circles but it really does worry me."
Eilynne shook her head, "Once again you miss the point, Captain. Having great power does not mean that it should always be used. My power may or may not be exaggerated in your eyes but that has no bearing on whether or not my assistance will be given. I cannot give that answer because it is not mine to give. I do not determine when I intervene, you do, the plane does, and the circumstances do. That is all the answer I can give, Captain." Turning to glance around at the others. "Faith is important especially at this stage, Captain. Find it and use it or you shall be setting yourself up for certain failure."

How could a person actually differentiate between no thought at all and a second of thought? That confused him to no end. Weren't all conscious creatures constantly producing new thoughts anyways? That would mean that instinct didn't even exist, yet so many had told him that they relied on it sometimes... Yes, all in all it was just a bad issue to be dwelling on in this situation. He looked down to his feet for a moment, pondering her socks comment before his gaze traveled back to Jae. "She said she was well enough to come topdeck with me. Why is having many women on a ship bad?" Pirate superstitions perhaps? But Captain Gem was a woman herself... A woman who just confused him really. Attention back to Sky though and some of his suspicions were shot down, which was a good thing. If she had never seen the black or any other black dragons, it probably meant that he had no connections to the Riders and that should put his mind at least somewhat at ease. "Good, Sky. Thank you... Why did you want to go to him?"

"You think that hm? Well, I can't see such thigns so you would know better than I do. Then again it wouldn't surprise me. I've heard and felt of stranger things." Shaking her head lightly. "If it worries you than just keep a watch out and if need be I'll do something fun and necromantic to keep things from ripping other things apart...despite the opportunity for new puppets."
He looked confused...which was a rather cute look on him. But that aside she was amused by him as well. "Because having so many on one ship means they're all confined to the same spaces. Women are competitive with one another and territorial as well. Not to mention when biologies kick in it's never a pleasant thing. Not that I think dragons would fall into my ways, but your females all do have their own as well. It's the world of women."
She nipped at him lightly, knowing how not to hurt him easyily from rider exposure and what not. "Big dragons new. Learn new things." More nipping and purring before just watching him again.

Very slowly trudging into more foreign territories and she would just get more of that apparently "cute and confused" look she was amused by. Wasn't it supposed to be males that were naturally territorial and competitive? "As long as everyone knows their place, it should be relatively normal right? You are the captain of the ship and I know all the females acknowledge and respect that. Aside from Desdemona perhaps..." But logically speaking, that was merely because of history and not gender. Golden eyes back to Sky as she nipped him and he blinked at the new gesture. It didn't hurt so that meant it was merely affectionate. "You can only learn from someone you trust. Trusting means you have to know them, so not the black because he is a stranger. Understand?"

"Places sometimes aren't truly known or taken by others who don't know that a place exists for another person. And I'm not talking just about my authroity as captain. But more as just woman, beings in general. As much as we all enjoy order around ourselves, Fire, sometimes that is just an ideal." Shaking her head. "And Desi listens to no one." Carefully adjusting course and nodding as indeed said oasis was in view now. "At least we know he wasn't lying about the oasis." A look to her crew and Thobias then, "Alright boys we're making ready as if to port, get on it!"
And nipping was good apparently and accepted since she didn't get swatted at or anything of that matter. "Do not know black, do not trust black. Yes?" That's what she was getting out of this anyway. What he did or said next would just confirm or deny that for her and give more understanding to everything as a whole. But she also had other things on her mind. "Teach time?"

"Faith is for priests. I rely on my own skill, and the ability of my crew. faith is what people have that lack skill, and hope to survive against the odds."
before letting the little annoyance do whatever it was she was going to do, and taking a look out at the oasis they were approaching.
"Keep course. but I was to keep distance between us and the dragon."
Fang was coming close. one more hour, and he'd be in perfect range by his estimates and his calculations. then he'd take the claw, and her woman captain. though those..things, were providing a bit of annoyance. hopefully one of his crew would make a decent enough replica to trade the model of the Serpent for.

"It probably seems silly and overprotective, doesn't it?" She knew it did but she couldnt' help but consider all the possibilities. Savvy was right though, they could always employ some sort of magical something and stop things before they got too out of hand. "No new puppets out of any of those three, Sav. They've become more than just dragons on this voyage and you know it."
"And yet you have it just the same." Shaking her head since he'd just told her that his crew and Gem's crew and everyone else couldn't handle the dragon. She knew what he was asking but there were rules involved with this and she was treading carefully so as not to upset the Goddess. Giving a nod to Hunter, she strolled off and moved back over to the Claw, landing on Jae's shoulder as a raven. "Methinks I sense some raw emotions coming from you Jaebell. What's going on?"

Oh dear, she was being ambiguous. In his mind, at least. What was all this talk about places and not taking them or taking them but in the wrong way...? He could understand what she meant about order being simply an ideal though. That was how life at Ilindal had been since the Orb disappeared, but even among the chaos, certain standards and protocols were observed. He left the captain alone though as she focused on maneuvering into port and he glanced at the black dragon briefly for any suspicious signs. None... still unsettling. "Yes, good Sky." A nod and another semi-pat semi-brushing of his hand on her cheek. Teach time? His mind drew a blank for a moment but he looked out to their newly arrive destination and pointed for her to see. "Oasis. Fresh food to eat, fresh water to drink."

They were still rather content to sit where they were on the deck with their instructions in mind. After all, that was daddy and they had to listen to him and he told them to keep it secret. "I feel daddy."
She nodded. "I feels him too. Doesn't that mean we're supposed to...you know."
"Until he comes back right? Because some people are rule breakers and daddy says rule breakers ruin the game."
Another nod from her as they were whispering among themselves and then both laid hands on their ship model. First they drew up sails before pressing it down into the little bowl of salt slush they had to sink it in, all actions intended to slow and stop the ship dead in the sand so to speak, bog it. After all they had to make sure the game was fair. Daddy said it wouldn't be fair until he came back.
Had to listen to daddy. Something about hu...hu...those things that weren't like them.
Savryn raised an eyebrow to her friend and looked more through her than at her. "You've made friends with them?" As far as Savvy was concenred she had no friends outside her family and those that were considered family. For some reason it always seemed to think it startling that her own friend could make friends with others with no problem.
She startled lightly as the raven landed on her shoulder and then spoke in her head. The voice recognized, she settled lightly and gave a sigh. "I feel strange again. But not like I'm sick...just strange." Shaking her head lightly and looking over her shoulder to the little blue who was now nipping and what not. "She scares me, the rider dragon..."
Yes, she expected him to teach her things now. Seemed she could get them to do that when she asked so if she asked she would receive. "Oasis. Fresh food and water." Tilting her head. "Break Point." Not that she recognized this one and it seemed easy enough to tell she didn't simply because of the way she watched it as ships slid into sheltered natural sandy harbors. "Teach change now?" Seemed bigger things were on her mind.

"Not friends, exactly. At least not yet though we aren't far from it. THey are valuable to the voyage though, just like the Laerethe are and if you start turning them into puppets because they got themselves into scrapes, it's not going to be a good thing. Remember what happened when they thought you murdered that man in Ilindal?" Not a very pleasant memory but it was better to bring that up than some other issues Savvy had had over the years because of her necromancy.
Eilynne nodded though the raven's head nor beak moved. She shifted her weight for a moment and then studied the pair before the two of them. "Strange? Why do you think that is, Jaebell? There must be a reason. Does it have to do with Kaznec or is it because of her looks?"

"But you intend to then." Nodding lightly...it wasn't her place to be selfish of Shyrae and hoard her all to herself. All it meant was that she would probably be spending more time alone, but she was used to that. "I remember, they're all quick to jump. But fair enough, no puppets from stupid actions." Crossing her arms lightly as Chy shuffled on her shoulder. "You have my word, no worries." Grinning to her friend then.
"Strange...I don't know how to explain it." Didn't surprise her...she had been behind the learning curve on draconic nature when she was younger simply because she wasn't exactly raised by those that had all the knowledge or the ones that did didn't have the time to relay it. Wouldn't surprise her at all if it was one of those things. But a shake of her head, "Kaznec, he..." Trailing off some before letting that go. "...She looks like I do. Only smaller." But she was small for their kind too and Jae was already full grown. She hadn't put on even an inch in ten years. "I'm scared of what that means...dragons aren't supposed to be like me and her are..."

"Good." Nope, he was not a teacher by nature. He was a commander; he told people what to do and they just did it, no questions asked. But this little dragon? Well, she was asking a lot of questions and he didn't even know what "break point" meant but took it by its literary sense. Change... He knew that she meant the draconic transformation process because that's what he had taught her to call it by. How to teach her to change though? He couldn't even remember his own experience, just that it had mostly been his mother who had taught him... "Change is hard." A pause, followed by a glance to Shyrae though he doubted she could help. "Do you feel... energy in your body? When you speak in dragon language with me, you use it. You need to use it to change too." Another problem, he didn't even know what elemental category she belonged to...

"I don't think it would hurt me or them to get to know them a little better. I could easily compile the much needed information on their kind." She wasn't worried about how Savvy would take knowing that she wanted to befriend the dragons since Savvy rarely got upset with her. It was a rare miracle to see the other elf grinning and Shy wrapped her arms around her friend and hugged her tightly. "I love you Sav."
Nodding again, she felt out the emotions behind the words that Jaebell was saying. "You're upset, not because the sky blue is showing Kaznec attention but because Kaznec is reciprocating." She knew far more than most thoguth she did even without an introduction into certain topics. And then it was back to that same issue that Jaebell had likely been dealing with forever and never even realized. "Are you afraid that you might be a Rider dragon then, Jaebell?"
