RuiZhi turned his keen gaze to Sable, watching the man. He was clearly uncomfortable, but why was anyone's guess. "You know why I'm here," he smiled a little at the older man, "although none of us should be. I'm surprised the teachers haven't tried to ship us off, honestly." He thought for a moment, turning over Farlest's major ins his mind; while it was altruistic that the boy wanted to help, he really didn't know what any of them could do. As for himself...
"Saying you want to be a doctor and being able to are two different things," he said with a silent shrug. "Maybe I wont be able to stomach seeing people badly hurt. O-or, maybe I wont be able to think clearly when it's my friends and family that are patients." The boy turned his solemn gaze around the gathered, folding his hands into his sleeves. "Maybe it's selfish, but I'm here to challenge myself, knowing full well that my family has a way of getting in front of harm, and to offer my knowledge of this place if the worst should happen."

Ah. Okay. Sable felt a little better now. So RhuZhi's journey here wasn't entirely for the good of mankind, some of it was for betterment of himself. Sable could handle that. He nodded, regarding the student with a thoughtful gaze. "Shouldn't sell yourself short, you know," he said finally, nodding. "'Cos, you know. You could surprise yourself. And I've heard negative thinking affects one poorly." He shrugged. Human psychology was something he did not understand nor care to. He would deal with people, and he would be surprised when they did strange things, and maybe he would observe, but he wasn't going to go digging for a deeper meaning. That wasn't his thing. Sable had a hard time grasping 'absract' concepts...if one could call psychology 'abstract'.
Sable shrugged again, pushing his glasses back up his nose. "I mean, I wasn't anything special as a kid...except I was really small, but I still got into a really good college. It's not about being cut out for it, you know? It's about working your a** off to get what you want. As long as you want it, you can get it." He nodded. It was really quite a speech for the man; he rarely spoke to his bosses that much. "Right now, I'm just a lab tech, but that's only because I don't know what I want to do." He grinned sheepishly, fiddling with his glasses nervously. He must sound so cheesy. "If I have to do it the rest of my life, I really want to like it!" he tried to rationalize. It made sense.
The lab tech finally fell silent, glancing around the small group, suddenly feeling very, very small. By that, we mean smaller than normal. "...er...right. Sorry," he muttered, looking down at his shoes. "So..." Please, someone change the subject...

The boy grinned at Sable, getting caught up in his enthusiasm. The older man didn't strike RuiZhi as the type to be generous with words, although he agreed with what the other was saying. "You do no one any good by being unhappy in your profession. It's good that you have that goal in mind." He smiled reassuringly at Sable. The poor man seemed to be so uncertain and at a loss, as though he felt he was expected to do something. RuiZhi would have none of that!
He turned to watch the gathering of the teachers, his gaze lighting momentarily with fondness on Greg, turning to almost embarrassed joy at the sight of Herei. The boy's attention eventually turned to Kenth, where it lingered the longest; this was the man that had finally put his feet in motion. This was the man that did what no one else could, and in a stunning amount of time. And, if he wasn't mistaken - which he was pretty sure he wasn't - this was also the man that his sister had some sort of attachment to, whether she realized it or not. He smiled a little, feeling a little sheepish at the prospect of finally meeting the doctor.
"I think we're going to be moving out," RuiZhi stated thoughtfully, absently reaching back to touch the bag on his back. He was ready to go, not having wanted to be here long in the first place. Even if it was safer, it didn't really feel safe, and he'd feel more at ease outside where he could get his bearings.

Dante had been watching the students from the corner of a room and contemplating.
He hadn't agreed with Norman on this issue--and he doubted Herei had, either. This place was too dangerous for the students to be here--when they should be focusing on studies. Let them learn MORE so that they could be useful in the future.
Nonetheless, he stepped forward. "I am here, Professor. What seems to be the issue?"

Elijah listened to each of their responses as to why they were there and each struck the teen as interested. They all gave quite a bit of detail about the student’s personalities and logic which intrigued the boy fully. Understanding them allowed him to understand them, though not to the extent of someone who has known them for some time. Now he had to contemplate his own reason for being there. The answer came quick. 'I guess my reason for being here is similar to Farlest's reason. All I really want to do is help out,' he thought all of this as he listened to Sable's words. No doubt he agreed with what RuiZhi had to say to him.
Looking back he noticed what RuiZhi was talking about and making sure his shoulder bag was with him he glanced about the teachers wondering what was about to happen. Having not been directly involved with their doings before he knew he had to pay close attention to actually make some use of himself while here; after all, if he didn't then why did he come in the first place? He was eager to get some work done and help out the people here no matter what it took.

Kenth looked at all the teachers. Herei, Irame, Dante...and Greg. There were 5 of them all together.
Well.
Kenth glanced over at other people in the area. It had occured to him that there were also strangers in the group. Most of them adults, so perhaps they could take the responsibiity as well. That would include four more adults into the group, making a total of nine. Kenth nodded to himself.
"There are nine adults all together. We are splitting into three different subgroups, each one will bring a few students." Kenth counted the students again. There was RuiZhi, Wei, Rylenn, Elijah...and two kids that he did not remember seeing. Kenth frowned. There were six students that will have to be divided into three groups.
"Each group will take two students. No more than that." Kenth said quietly, "go ahead and choose your partners, and when you are ready, we shall meet at the gate."
And with that Kenth turned, debating whom he should choose.
He'd rather go alone.

Rylenn moved a bit nervously. He looked from side to side. He had kept to himself.. it was one of those... too many people he didn't know. He decided it would probably be better if he stayed quiet. He wanted to go with Dante... he wanted to cling to the man. He knew that nothing bad could happen with Dante there.. but.. he didn't know if he wanted someone else to go with the elf. For protection reasons.
He looked at all the teachers. He only knew Dante. He had heard of Kenth, but didn't know much about him. His eyes roamed around, looking for Weiyuan. He noticed RuiZhi, but he didn't think he would be wanted there. So he simply stood there and waited for one of the teachers to pick him. His eyes lowered and his head tilted to the side. Why did he even come here?
His eyes floated to Wei. Oh yea... I wanted to protect you...
It was worth it then... yes it was worth it, but he began to realize what kind of danger he was really in.
"I'll go with anyone who wants me." He said softly, a hand moving through his hair.

Herei turned his gaze around the other four teachers; these people who had willingly abandoned the safety of their home to help a cause that wasn't their own, not in the sense that it was his, or the Chinese students. He turned to look at the students, some scared, some eager. As much as he wanted to take certain ones for himself, he decided it wasn't the best decision for everyone else involved. "Might I recommend that those who don't speak the native language here, take those who do. If I'm not mistaken, there are four or five of us that speak it fluently, the doctor and myself included."
That would make only one group that needed to have Chinese speakers with them. He had to make sure everyone was covered in case they had a run in with the locals. The only thing worse than encountering them would be doing so with a group of foreigners.

Farlest noticed just how quickly conversation ceased when the white-haired doctor began to speak. He had to give him one thing...the man commanded authority...and eyes were naturally drawn to him.
Glancing over his shoulder, his gaze immediately went to Ka...and he slid away from the group of students he had been with to stand beside his friend. He really wasn't at all sure he wanted to be separated from him at this point...in this unknown country.
Ka had said he wouldn't allow him to go alone...did that still count...even though there were other people here? Farlest rather hoped it did. Didn't want to be without his friend in this strange place...a place that quite steadily was growing darker and more dangerous on all accounts.
He could feel the fabric of his coat brush up against Ka's arm, and it was somewhat comforting. Farlest would have been touching more than that...but he didn't know what the other would accept...what he was comfortable with. Ka'hmesh was quiet, and that could mean anything.
Green eyes looked towards the teachers...wondering just how the students would be split up..praying he and Ka could go together. As friendly as Farlest could be, the familiar would be wonderful beyond words to have.

Dante examined the children in front of him, all aflutter with bewilderment and worry. I'm sorry you all got dragged into this.
"May I also suggest that those students who are magic students pair up with science students, and vice versa? A balanced group never hurt," Dante said. Plus, the magic students and the science students, depending on their studies, would notice different things.
Which meant, of course, that everything would be covered.
From where she was on the cot, Lina's eyes blinked open blearily, focusing a little bit but mostly still just drifting as Kenth began to talk.
Wait, they were going somewhere? Well, she couldn't just stay here.
So she sat up, rubbed her eyes and stood--and then stood still a moment, breathed deep, eyes squeezed shut. Then she blinked them open. She would be all right.
Now to find a partner....

(( *skitters back in from con* ))
Ka had been standing more or less in the same place Farlest had left him, watching his more outgoing friend go and meet people and have a conversation. In fact, he had just been about to go and join the other when Far pulled away and came back to him. Ka blinked slightly at that, also feeling the other male brush up against him like that.
The thought of leaving Farlest hadn't even occured to him - even though there were others around, he really didn't know any of them and neither did the dark-haired male, though he had met a few just recently. Raising his head a bit he murmured quietly to Far, "I think I'm glad now that I picked science." It meant they should be able to pair up for this little venture without any problems. He was a little surprised that none of the students (and there were a lot of them) hadn't gotten into trouble for coming along. Not that he was complaining ...

Sable glanced down at RuiZhi. Moving out? Oh. To the actual site of all the chaos, they meant? That must be it. His thoughts were interupted by a man addressing the whole group. The lab tech could only assume he was the group leader. He swallowed. Was he considered one of the adults? He must be. He certainly wasn't one of the students. He didn't even look like them. He was as short as them, fine, but he by no means looked thirteen. He mumbled something to himself and shuffled, glancing around.
...they were supposed to pick? But...the only one he really knew was RuiZhi...and he might want to be with his brother and sister, or something. Audun unnerved him a good deal...and that was it. He sighed, pushing a hand through unruly hair. He took a step back and glanced around the group. Well. It was probably best to let someone take him. They wouldn't leave him behind, right? As long as he didn't get left behind, he didn't care.
It was like dodgeball. It would probably be a...less than pleasant experience, and he'd probably get picked last...but that was okay! He still got to play, right?

The Advisor smiled at Dante, inclining his head in agreement. "A good idea, Professor Araquenosse." His dark eyes skimmed over the new students - he hadn't met them, but he knew of them - doing a quick count. "Three science, three magic. I couldn't have planned it better myself." He knew the students would look after each other as well; although there was uncertainty and tension, he could tell that they would do what was necessary to support each other. He truly felt he had the best batch of students possible for the given situation.
RuiZhi glanced over to Sable, who once again looked lost. He nudged the man gently with his elbow, his hands still folded in his sleeves. He was still a boy, so it didn't occur to him that Sable's concern could be for the danger they were about to face. "Don't worry. You know enough of us that you'll be paired with someone you know." He smiled as reassuringly as he could, trying to impart comfort without showing how eager he was to move on. Nothing was getting solved inside, and although it was dangerous, it was out there in the chaos that they needed to be.
Alex watched everyone's reactions with detached emotions. Some of the students were huddling together, already seperated into their respective groups; Weiyuan and Rylenn, two new boys she couldn't see well in the back, and RuiZhi and a cute but quiet boy from earlier. The first two groups seemed uncertain, but - bless his stubborn heart - RuiZhi was trying to play the peacekeeper, even comforting the 'adults.'
Then there were the teachers - Kenth and Herei, Dante and Irame, and poor Greg would likely get stuck with the rest of them. Alex issued an unlady like snort of laughter, closing her eyes and leaning against the door with her arms crossed over her ratty tank top. It didn't matter to her which group she went with; she'd met them all, and while she favored one or two, she worked well with anyone she had to. She knew in her heart that the boys could handle themselves...at least for now.

Along with the others, Elijah looked to Kenth, listening to his instructions and wondered now where he was to head. Watching other students group together he wondered where he should head, not really knowing anyone here, but after this realization he figured waiting till a group needed a member would work out just fine for him. He looked over to Sable as well as RuiZhi as they talked before glancing around uncomfortably.

RuiZhi looked towards Farlest, a little smile on his lips that the kindly boy had a friend he could rely on. His gaze then shifted to Weiyuan - who was looking at Rylenn - knowing that the older boy would want to stay with his boyfriend. And Rylenn...still wasn't comfortable around RuiZhi, and the boy didn't know what to do to calm his fears. He took a breath, eyes flitting briefly between Sable and Audun, before looking to Elijah.
The poor boy seemed as uncomfortable as Sable. RuiZhi uncrossed his arms, making a beckoning motion towards the shy boy. "Looks like it's you and me. Hope you don't mind." A lesser, more immature side of him wanted to feel bad for being the 'leftovers,' but the mature and dominant side of him simply didn't care. This wasn't school, or an issue of who was more popular; it was a comfort level, finding peace that each person sorely needed. He didn't know Elijah, but he was willing to try, and hopefully be some sort of rock for the people who needed one.
