Remus chuckled, understanding the dilemma. "You are quite welcome to take hours if you like, though I doubt you should want to at this hour." Beside her father, Lily's stomach rumbled softly & she blushed in sheepish embarrassment. Her father gently nuzzled the top of her head. Relm looked back from the window apologetically. "That's right: I was supposed to tell you dinner would be soon." Remus nodded his head thoughtfully, the dark bands on his ears showing their twitch more clearly. "Thank you, Relm. Perhaps, Kaleb, there is something you have been searching for? We could see if there is a copy tonight, & perhaps another visit you will be able to search the titles to your heart's content."

An almost mischievous curl turned the corners of the wizard's maw. "Of course, there are always new books finding their way to the shelves so it may seem an unending endeavor at times."

Kaleb blushed sheepishly, although he usually went to bed early and woke up early he could stay up all night without noticing it if he really got into his studies. "N-no, I can't think of anything in particular, but i-it would be really nice to look at the titles..." He trailed off, already spotting several books he was familiar with, and a couple he wasn't.

The kitsu smiled softly, recognizing the look in the audio's eyes. "You are more than welcome to, Kaleb. Just do not think you must see them all at once. You may return anytime." Relm cast the wizard a knowing smile, her brow quirking in an "oh, really?" gesture which caused Remus to blush. "Well, most anytime." He amended with a twitching smile, thoughts now on how Nari & he often spent their time in the library when they were not reading.

Liliana's eyes narrowed as she pouted, seeing from her father's reaction that he was thinking of her mother again & getting a little jealous. "Maybe a category? Narrowing a search helps."

Kaleb was oblivious to the subtle undertones of the conversation, he was too distracted looking at the shelves. "I-I w-would feel awkward just inviting myself over," he said timidly, only briefly glancing towards Remus before his gaze was drawn back to the books. Seeing a title he was unfamilar with, he reached out like he wanted to take it off the shelf to get a better look, but he hesitated and pulled his hand back. "I-I'm really interested in healing and shielding techniques," he said in response to Liliana, fidgeting a bit.

"You wouldn't be inviting yourself over: it's an open invitation." Remus gave him a comforting smile. "If it would make you feel more at ease, you could call first. There is always someone at home."

Liliana huffed with a burst of laughter as Kaleb retracted his hand from the book. "That book doesn't bite. Care of Magical Creatures would though." She nodded at his preferences. "And you're safe with those too. Seems the healer minded aren't of a mind to cause pain." Lily winked and giggled, feeling she had made a joke. Relm found herself smiling but Remus gave his daughter a reproachful glance that she missed entirely.

"I-I would feel better if I could phone first," Kaleb said, smiling as he glanced over at Relm and Remus, and then back at the book he wanted to read but was just too nervous to pull off the shelf. "I-I d-don't know any healers who would want to cause anyone harm," he stuttered quickly to the younger kitsu. He certainly didn't, it made him increasingly anxious just thinking about the idea.

Liliana giggled & her father shook his head slightly. "I think what my daughter meant is that there are a few books that might bite if given the chance, though the ones on healing are all quite safe. A few even seem to be embedded with a little healing magic of their own."

Relm was looking at Kaleb with an incredulous shaking of her head. "Will you just take the book already, Scholar? And call. Yes. For books or to study the door's magic or anything." With one hand on her hips she waved her brush in the other impatiently. "You're a friend." She said as if that explained everything.

Remus raised a brow. "Interested in the magic of the magic door too, are you?" Father & daughter chuckled softly. "I cannot say I blame you there. The Weasley Twins & I melded some fairly different magics for the spell that enables it to work."

Kaleb blushed brightly and reached out to take the book off the shelf, but he didn't open it right away. "I-I would be very interested in studying that magic, I'm still looking for ways to improve my own portal spell. Relm showed me some of the weaves that were similar between the two magics, but I would love to spend some time looking at how they differ." He had perked up a bit, finally starting to feel more comfortable.

Remus & Lily shared a glance and grinned. "Yes. That would be most interesting for all of us I believe. Perhaps we could even get a chance to study Relm's magic, now that Keme has tamed her."

The pictomancer blushed crimson. "Hey! The wizard gave her a look as if daring her to refute it & Relm ducked her head in embarrassment.

Kaleb was too distracted by that point to reply, he had carefully opened the book and was now looking through the table of contents. It was exciting, just the kind of book he would expect to find in a library that catered to a variety of magical styles, containing primarily theory rather than actual instructions for producing the spell effect.

Liliana dissolved into giggles to which the artist spun to snap something at her but right at that moment there was a knock on the door. Following it, Trelweny's voice could ber heard calling "Dinner! For those that want it!" Oddly enough, her voice had an echoing quality to it that those that lived there did not pay any heed to. At times like that, the speakers voice could be used to project into all the rooms that might be in use at once.

The crimson furred kitsu straitened up immediately & quickly cleaned her tails to make them presentable once more. Remus nudged his daughter gently towards the door & Relm slipped her brush back into her pocket. "Want to join us, Scholar? Ginny's quite a cook."

Remus eyed the mage thoughtfully. "Perhaps it would be more kind of us to bring him a plate, Relm. The family might overwhelm him, even if not everyone is present.

Kaleb's ears perked when he heard the echoing voice, finding it rather odd that he couldn't quite pinpoint what direction the voice came from. He blushed a bit and set the book back on the shelf where it had been taken from. "I-I wouldn't want to impose," he said to both Relm and Remus, although the thought of a well cooked meal was certainly appealing. It also made him a little nervous though, he wouldn't want them to mistake his naturally small appetite for disliking the food.

Relm nodded absently at Remus' suggestion but balked at Kaleb's comment. "Not imposing at all, Scholar. I'll go grab you a plate of something. Save you from being groped by Bubbles." The wizard swallowed a cough quickly as the females shared a knowing look with laughter in their eyes. " You're safe here. She doesn't read. Not even sure the bimbo knows how to use the door." She muttered the last under her breath as she waved & hurried out the door. "Be right back!"

The kitsu followed soon after. "Feel free read something if you like. It was a pleasure meeting you, Kaleb." "Likewise!"

Kaleb looked a little surprised, and more than a little nervous, he certainly didn't want to be groped. "I-it was nice meeting you too," he said to Remus and Liliana as they left, since he hadn't had the time to react to Relm's quick departure.

Finding himself alone in the library, he hesitantly took the book he had been looking for earlier off it's shelf, and walked over to one of the comfortable-looking armchairs. Being close to the fireplace warmed and cheered him, and he carefully opened the book and started into a chapter on reflective shields once he was settled happily in the large chair.

((sorry. blanked on a response. not that this is much better.))

Ever so quietly Relm tiptoed back into the library with a tray of food and drink. Mindful of how the scholarly minded could be when reading, she had taken time to make the dinner served everyone else into managable sandwiches -slices of fresh cooked roast beef layered with steamed spinich between two "slices" of Yorkshire Pudding in place of traditional bread. The soup -tomato- she had thoughtfully put into an insulated cup both to keep it warm as well as make it more manageable to ingest without a mess. Having forgot to ask for a drink preference there was a large water as well as a smaller orange juic & milk; all with straws. Setting the tray on a nearby table Relm dragged the entire thing over within reach of Kaleb's hand. With a silent chuckle she ruffled his hair before heading back out of the library to have her own meal.
