Emi's ears suddenly perked. For a few hours she'd been sitting there mothering both dog and jars, doing little more than occasionally whispering soothing words to the spooked collie's ears. Her arms were sore from holding Toby close to her, only staying clasped together thanks to the struggle of earlier. One brown furry tipped ear swiveled on the spot, picking up Karma's yell. Was it really getting lighter out there?

Toby lulled himself out of his daze. His own blackened ears perked, paws testing the ground beneath them. Picking his first paw up, he stood on trembling feet. Stealthily he pushed himself away from his guardian. Once he could stand beside Emi, he shook his fur out. His stiff muscles blew out along with his fur as he shook, the two silver disks on his collar clashing together as he 'poofed' out. His fur stood on end for a few moments, and he could have been classed as a walking fluff ball had it not been for the recline of his fur a second later. Suddenly, his tail wagged once more.

Emi's arms unlinked. Stiff bones stretched out in front of her, before the furry pulled herself to her feet. She may have been very short, but the size of her smile made up for that. A relieved look passed from one ear to the next as her blue orbs caught site of the azure sky through the window. The ashes and dust were dispersing, and on top of the quilt sat the light of day. It was very patchy, but as the ashes began to subside more and more patches appeared. The smell still rang in the air, the rancid stench of smoke still filled the outside world.

"I think so. It's certainly getting lighter out there, here." Emi exclaimed, though no where nearly as loud as Karma had a few moments later. She extended her hand towards the male, knowing just how stiff he must be from sitting on the Griffin for the past few hours. One last glance down towards the jars in the case replayed her thoughts from earlier - all three of them were fine. Both jars sat happily within their folds of tissue paper, held to her side by the camera case they were incased in.

Tail wagging, Toby padded his way to Emi's side once more. He circled her paws, before lowering his nose to inspect the asleep Griffin. He wasn't close, but his dark brown eyes blinked - full of curiosity. His tail thumped from one side to the other, examining the creature from head to toe.

Sanar looked up from her place, still near Chao's legs. She'd been a bit unwilling to move too far away from her mother while the shaking was still going on and things were still dark, though she'd returned the playful headbutt from Makai with a small one of her own and had taken comfort from the other gryphons' presence and the music that had started up.

The Aerandir child gave herself a full body shake, accidently smacking her mother's leg with one long bound piece of hair before she stood shakily, looking curiously to the lightening window.

Chao twitched, having fallen into a semi daze during the long hours. Wincing she worked out a kink in her back and gave herself a firm shake, unconsciously miming her daughter.

Glancing at the radio Chao shook her head, "no word yet from Cetalu..." oh wow, was that an adult Aerandir? She honestly hadn't noticed Osero before, having been basicly chained to the radio because of her daughter and, really, she'd been hoping for another update from them at some point. "Is it really over?"

Hefting a water-filled bucket, Wyv regarded her fellow lodgemates. Lumped together in a tense situation for several hours and nobody killed anybody else. A good start, all things considered. "Wonder if we should go out and see the damage," she remarked to nobody in particular.

Karma continued to look out the window while she listened to the other guardians in the lodge talking. Everyone was starting to notice the change in the sky which was only getting clearer and clearer. After a moment, and a good pinch on her arm, Karma had made herself sure that it wasn't any dream. She turned away from the window, and towards the others in the lodge. Hearing Wyv's idea, the thought of what the damage to the huts must be crawled into her head. She may not have been near an erupting volcano before, but she had a very good idea of how powerful they were. "Perhaps.." Karma said quietly to herself. She peered out the window behind her again, maybe she'd be able to see part of what the damage was like.

Jizzy had fallen fast asleep about an hour in. She couldn't take it, the tension, the waiting. She'd just shut her eyes, and fallen to sleep. She mumbled slightly in her curled up form, barely taking up a whole seat on the couch as she huddled up.

Tobias was bored out of his mind. He'd rushed around, jumped around, hooped around, even examined the blue gyphon for a while, btu now boredom set in and he was layign down, like a spiky pillow on the floor. Bored out of his mind.

Progolo took the Furry woman's hand and allowed her to help him stand up, popping many joints as he did so. It occured to him that this was the first time he'd ever held a furry's hand...

Then again, this was also the first time he'd ever experienced a volcano or sat on Taal, so...

"Thanks," he said, nodding to the owner of the dog and then smiled. Then, to Wyv, he admitted wryly, "I'm afraid to look."

Taal opened his eyes, and was met with the blackness of Progolo's jacket. He clacked his beak lazily, and prepared to fall back asleep...but what was that noise? His funnel shaped ears flickered. He felt watched. The griffin raised his head and looked in Toby's general diretion, but didn't see anything, obviously. Birdbrain that he was, he assumed that since he couldn't see the dog, the dog couldn't see him. In a stroke of unusual bravery, Taal emitted a cat-like hiss at Toby, the feathers on his back rippling.

Wyv returned Progolo's grin with one of her own. "Me too," she admitted. "but leaving it for late isn't gonna make things better." She looked grim for a moment, setting down a bucket to open the door. "'Sides, fire bad." With a determined step, Wyv set outside.

Makai fretted, torn between following Wyv and staying with his new friend. The music had been nice, his green one hadn't played anything like that for him, but now he needed something to do. Like Tobias, he was bored and anxious to get outside.

"Don't mention it," Helping the man up to his feet, Emi finally flashed a smile. Her attention didn't linger for long, rather the furry turned her view to the window panes. The sky was certainly clearing, but then was it really over? Or was this just the eye of another storm waiting to brew? Stopping herself from falling into the irritable habit of chewing on her bottom lip, Emi merely pulled the jars around her waist closer. Who knows what would be out there, and more to the point what they would find when they got out there.

Opening her mouth to suggest the very one thing she was afraid of at that moment, she promptly regarded that piece of conversation as useless. Rendered without speech, Emi fell quiet again. After all, did she really want to go outside and see what damage that earthquake had done to her little house? Her tail flicked from one side to the other, and the tips of her ears tilted towards her skull once more. It was just another nervous gesture. No matter how much she'd rather be out of here about now something deep down didn't want to face up to the wreckage outside.

Toby, head still cocked to one side continued to watch this creature. Protruding his muzzle out towards the griffin he was just about to get a little closer before it emitted the hiss. He jumped back, diving between his owner's legs. Whoever hadn't heard of a dog being scared of a bird hissing certainly had now. Toby's tail folded back between his legs, dainty white paws continuing to paw at Emi's ankles to get out of here. He didn't want to be anywhere near that thing anymore.

It was a spot of amusement for Emi. Watching the feathers ripple on the back of Taal's back, she moved as the bundle of fur dived between her legs. She knew he wouldn't hurt a thing, after all - Toby wouldn't kill a fly if asked. He was just curious, and curiosity sometimes got the better of him. Stationing herself so the shivering dog could rest behind her, Emi took a few moments to glance at the door. The wooden door loomed up in front of her, the opening to the outside world.

"Do you think its safe outside?" Emi questioned. Her tone full of worry, she tightened her grip on the black camera case held to her side. The two jars 'chinked' against each other, making their first soundly appearance to prove they were there underneath all that canvas. Her question was answered only a few moments later as Wyv set (rather bravely) outside. Pausing, the furry contemplated following her lead. Deciding she didn't really have much to lose, the furry waited for a few more guardians to trundle out of the door.

"Agreed," Chao replied with a nod in Wyv's direction, "the sooner we see what the damage is the sooner we can fix it," standing Chao stepped delicately around Sanar and the other gryphons and picked up one of the spare pails from the table then headed after Wyv.

Sanar quickly stood on unsteady legs and whined slightly when Chao began to head over towards the door. Taking a few shaky steps she grabbed onto the teen's hand as she came back over.

"You want to see what it's like outside too San?" Chao asked with a grin and led her daughter towards the door, making sure she stayed behind her as they got close, just incase.

Sanar looked over her shoulder and motioned for Makai and Tobais to come with them, not wanting to leave them behind.

Ash, ash everywhere. It was like a bag of flower had exploded in a very small area... only ashier. The sudden flurry of activity as the guardians and wards left the lodge made her sneeze.

"Gah," she announced, rubbing her nose gently. All we are is dust in the wind, went the song, there was defiantely enough of the stuff floating around to agitate her sinuses. Truth be told, Wyv had no real concern for the state of her dwelling, beyond the vague realization that eventually it would have to be fixed and cleaned. All she wanted to do was go home and go to sleep. But the ground outside was not as appealing as the floors of the lodge. Damn her, she had to be practical. Hence the pail and the impromptu firebrigade. The sooner this was done, the sooner she could collapse somewhere.

Tromping over to a small hunk of burning rock, she poured water onto it, then covered the impact crater with sand and dirt. At least that was in full supply. Not that it was likely to burn outof control, being surrounded by all directions in by nothing flamable, but it didn't hurt to be carefull.

"So far, so good," Wyv called over her shoulder, sounding weary, but trying to be encouraging to those behind her. She managed a smile at Chao and Karma.

Makai needed no encouragement. He sprang along behind Sanar. That long hair of hers was really tempting, hanging so low. But his green one didn't like it when he nibble her hair, so probably this one wouldn't either. Such a shame, it looked like fun.

And then, he saw the dust and became the first gryphon to learn to make dust angels on the ground.

Chao nodded in what she hoped was Wyv's direction, it was hard to see with all the ash floating around, and had followed suit on another patch of burning rock not too far away.

There were quite a few hunks of rock scattered about, but it looked as if most of them had already burned themselves out.

Sanar blinked at the onslought of dust and flapped her wings a bit to disperse it. Catching sight of Makai rolling in the ash she smiled and hopped onto the ground as well, making an dust angel besides Makai's.

It was now or never. Following suit of Chao, Karma, and Wyv Emi walked on outside. Ash hung thickly in the air and on the ground, making the furry cough. Her nose scrunched up, doing her best to ignore the rancid stench of smoke all around. With an oversensitive nose that really wasn't possible- Emi had to live and bear it for now. Her tail swept the floor behind her, sending a flurry of ash up into the air.

Toby followed his master, being careful to stick to a few paws space behind her. The cloud of dust blew right into his face, the dogs light brown patches around his muzzle now turning a shade of black. His whiskers around his nose twitched, and a confused look crossed his features. His paws took another step, leaving white paw prints on the ground around the lodge. What was this stuff?

"Wait..." Emi had turned to gaze over towards the houses. Her eyes squinted, trying her best to pick out the end of the last house. She took a step forward, scrutinizing her eyesight. From the end of the houses she could just make out a blurred blob. It wasn't easy to see through all the ash and smoke, but it was enough to check it out. Her gaze darted from Chao, and then back to the landscape in front of them.

"Something's different," She spoke. It wasn't very loud, but it was loud enough to inform the others. Brushing soot off the top of her jars, she pulled the camera case right to her chest. For a moment it looked like she was about to bolt off towards the other side of the island, one foot set in front of the other. She halted where she was, turning to look at the two individuals playing in the ash and the other two pouring water over a a few rocks.

"Well, I mean I know it's different with the ash, but the landscape looks different. Here, look over here, I thought the end of the houses ended this Island," She started. It wasn't directed at anyone, rather more set at anyone who would listen. Maybe she was going crazy, maybe the others wouldn't be able to see what was there. After all, being cooped up in a lodge with ten rather tense individuals couldn't have been good for anybody.

"It might just be my eyesight, but..." The last few words were hushed, the woman's ears pinning back to her skull. Her tail flicked around on the floor, sending the odd pile of ash flying into the air only to fall gracefully back down a moment later.

"Fhr rhr?" More of a vocalization than actual words, Wyv turned and regarded the rather anxious looking furry. Following emi's gaze, she looked out towards the the edge of the island. Or where the edge of the island had been. It did look different, through the haze of ash.

"Kinda looks like a sandbar," she said, thinking out loud. "You're astute," she told Emi. "I pro'lly wouldn'ta noticed anything." The airborn dust was slowly settling, and yep, there was definately something out there. Spying no more guttering flames, she abandoned her bucket. "C'mon, let's go see the sea," she said, nodding at the furry to lead the way, if she was so inclined.

Twittering in delight, Makai flipped over into numerous spots making strange and unusual shapes in the dust. Most resembled distorted versions of the letter 'S' but a few manged to look like the so called angel shape, even if that result was unintentional. Rolling around in stuff was fun.

Jizzy was woken slowly by the sound of rustling and people leaving. She'd always been a very heavy sleeper, so she'd been rather unphazed by the whole experience. SHe looked around slowly, blearily to notice noone was there, not even Tobias. She leapt up, her heart racing, before she heard noises from outside. She looked out, spotting the people and let out a deep sigh.

SHe got up slowly, ruffling her hair up, fixing her shades and hitching her bag higher onto her shoulder before heading out. "What'd I miss?" SHe said, yawning right after and coughing as she inhaled a large portion of ash.

Tobias had left with Sanar. Thank goodness, they could finally go out. He leapt around in exitement, playing with the ash and dust. As he watched Makai's dust angels he hooped in delight, flopping down to try to imitate it.

His quills prooved to be a problemn though. When he stood to survey his work he seemed to deflate at the sight of the blob he had created. It wasn't pretty at all.
