Sabin Duvert
Gaius awoke again with a distinct jolt and a tingling to the back of his neck. Around him, surprising enough, slowly materialized his own duplex room. He was lying, dumped unceremoniously on the floor in an uncomfortable position. Vixen was lying, breathing slowly and apparently asleep, a few feet away from him.
His wounds had only been tended in the barest minimum to make sure that wouldn't be dangerous, and still certainly hurt like hell in the absence of any sort of pain medications. However, beyond the previously sustained injuries... Gaius wasn't missing anything, or hurt any further.

He groaned, trying to push himself up, but the arm that'd been pinned under him had gone numb during his unconsciousness and was all pins and needles. An attempt to roll onto his side brought a sharp yelp from the horse-man as it twisted the tender injuries of his back. Even the act of moving his neck was agony - it seemed something'd gotten pushed the wrong way during his flight into the window. A minute of burning pains and awkward shifting got him up on one elbow at least, and he got his first look around.
"Wha..." he began, about to ask the obvious. What'd happened to him? But of course, he'd been buzzed. That much he remembered. His attention suddenly became alert. And the jar? Inadvertently he jerked his head to the side in his attempt to see around and was rewarded with a blinding flash of agony down the length as the bruising protested. "Auuuugh..." he groaned.

His prize - the jar of Lucas's eye - was missing. As was the panic button that Vixen had briefly seized upon. The light was off in his room, but enough light was filtering in from the daylight outside to still see by.
However, Gaius had not been awake for more than a few moments when he heard a familiar beep coming from the intercom speakers.
"Good morning, Gaius." Came an irritated, flat voice identifyable only as belonging to Dr. Duvert.

Understanding came to Gaius along with a mirthless smirk. "Of course. The 'good' doctor, going to do the dirty work for his pet again..." He pushed himself up to a sitting position, doing his best to suppress any outward expression of the pain now that he knew he had an audience.
Sabin Duvert
There was in immediate tingle in the back of his neck. A warning. Sabin's stern voice boomed over the intercom along with it. "I have WARNED you not just once before, Gaius. You antagonized him, and this is not the only time. But apparently my warnings were not taken seriously enough. I liked you Gaius, I liked your enthusiasm enough to gift you with one of my special serums. But you have slowly but surely worked your way onto a progressively worse list."
Gaius Harper
The pegasus-man stiffened, lips drawing back in a grimace at the obvious threat implied in the back of his neck. But whatever humanity he'd thought Sabin had shown that one time in that conversation over the intercom had been blotted out by the recent revelation a certain eyeball had presented. "Alright, I did, but I was there to avenge"-he relished the word-"a wrong you lab people did. Apparantly a friend of mine is now missing an eye thanks to you. And that's not the only thing I could bring up." His face flushed as his voice grew louder, only emboldened by Sabin's anger. "Should I mention the barcode? Or the time-prank? Or the fact you took my HANDS from me?!"
Sabin Duvert
There was a derisive snort. "You prefer a situation of utter lawlessness? Were you not aware that Lucas first removed Zachary's eye? I suppose that you would suggest something as meaningless as incarceration - when everyone here is already away from their own lives. Perhaps you are not Aware that the most basic of laws do in fact say an eye for an eye. I proved a very serious point. THe point that I will not be taking offenses so blithley anymore. I have seen good lab men KILLED, and islanders attacked." Sabin did not mention that there were certainly other unrelated things that were chewing at him, Moreau's presence on the island had silenced the questions he needed to ask a certain someone.
"I did not take your hands - and there are many other things that others have missed more. ANd they seem perfectly functioning to me. But perhaps I SHOULD remove your hands and give you the hooves of a horse, perhaps you would do less damage to those around you. If you had a problem with me, then you - the BULLY that you are, you take it out on those weaker than you, who have nothing to do with your aggression. You refused to be civil to Zachary. And then you refused to even stay away from the man. Now I will ENSURE that you do. If you go anywhere within 25 feet of him, you will find yourself buzzed. You can get close enough to speak to him if you need, but not to threaten him. But that is not the extent of things. To show you that I am not playing around, and to somehow get it through your thick skull that pissing me off will only result in more and more problems for you - the same result will come from you getting within 25 feet of Nita."

Gaius sneered. "Eye for an eye? Whatever happened to turning the other cheek?" While he wouldn't admit it, the fact that Lucas had attacked Zach first did disturb the horse-man. "It's your own fault there's a mad wolf-woman out there. I would've thought anyone half as smart as you would've realized that maybe you were doing something wrong when you start creating crazy monsters..."
He snorted at the comment on his hands, but riled at the bully label. "Well, if I'm a bully, then it's just another fault of the labs. I'd rather be a nobody back in America than anything here," he muttered, but Sabin was continuing. Gaius narrowed his eyes at the intercom, the only thing he could address in that room. So that's how it would be? Well, he'd have to deal with it. He'd expected as much since breaking the promise...
"the same result will come from you getting within 25 feet of Nita."
Gaius's eyes shot wide open and he jerked up to his knees. "Wait! What?!" he cried. "No!"

"While I am certain that my mother would roll in her grave, I am no Christian, Gaius. I believe that the peace cannot be kept by ignoring offenses. And I have nothing to do with Angharad, her arrival to the island, OR her insanity. But I am certain that pinning blame on me will somehow make sense in that addled mind of yours. MY monsters are not crazy." He sniffed.
"It is your own damn fault that you have turned into more of a Bully than Zachary has ever been. He doesn't push women or attack weaker people because of who they decide to put their trust in.
"And. Yes. You decide to ignore my warnings, and you will be punished. Apparently I need to treat you like a child and take away your candy in order to make a POINT."

Gaius stared at the com unit, his insides a raging mass of conflict. He didn't want to be a bully! He didn't want to be what he was! But he couldn't put any weight on what Sabin called him. He wouldn't! It was only more trickery by the labs. They'd as soon turn on him again if he did behave, and then what? He would be no lab lacky! But Nita...
Clutching his face in his stubby hands, Gaius threw back his head and let all his pain and anger and frustration combine into a horrific cry that ended in a more horse-like shriek. Then he fell back to his hands on the floor, his head pounding with the pain of his neck. Through clenched teeth he muttered, "I wish... you'd never found me. I don't want this life. I can't live like this..."

Sabin sat back and laced his fingers as he watched Gaius throw a temper tantrum, silent as he watched. While it did bring a mote of satisfaction, Sabin was still by no means pleased.
"Yes yes, whaa waa waa." Sabin finally chimed in after Gaius started his pity party. "I might have more sympathy for you, Gaius, had you not been insisting on turning yourself into a meanspirited a** who has been taking out his displeasure on those few people here who have carved a real life for themselves here. You are a bully and you can't stand to see people happy. Misery loves company and you have insisted on making those people around you miserable as well. Perhaps I am doing Nita a favor in this restraining order. And perhaps, just perhaps, you can get over your self and find out that you are not the only person going through this. And that almost everyone, a few obvious exceptions, else has been able to handle themselves like a decent individual."

Gaius's face flushed a shamed red as Sabin belittled him. Sympathy from Sabin? The idea was laughable. But Gaius, like anyone else, disliked having his sizeable nose rubbed in his mess. The jabs were pointed and well-aimed, stinging at places he'd long denied, or new worries he'd never considered. Could Nita's unhappyness be his own fault? Had he somehow driven her and that Lauren apart? But she'd seemed so happy with him, or at least content.
"I know I'm not the only one going through this," Gaius snorted, his head hanging low. "How can I not when we're all painfully aware of it every day of our lives?" He lowered his head and sighed. "Just leave me alone..."

"Well you certainly seem wrapped up with your own problems and no one else's. You refuse to try to identify with most of the other islanders and roll in your own pity parties about how haaard your life is, how you can't take it. You take out your aggression on Zachary because until this point, he has been the better man and not struck back. And yet you still pride yourself as the proverbial white knight and the "good guy". I will say this, perhaps black is more your color, after all. Zachary, Emerwyn, and poor Miller who just was offering Lauren the comfot she needed after breaking up with Nita. But... I suppose that you don't think about these sorts of things. Of course you're the "good guy" Gaius! You'd never attack someone weaker than you... someone who is happy before you stick your big nose in their business."
"I will leave you alone as you wish, but not before this: Watch yourself. I certainly am. You continue being problematic and I will make sure that you are kept away from other people whose lives would be better without your interactions. ANd if you try to be 'smart' and orchestrate some other sort of retributation against Zach - who, by the way, has no input on what I am doing to you - then I will make things miserable for you. And perhaps I could show you what it would REALLY be like without hands."

Gaius leapt to his feet, faced creased with rage. "SHUT UP!" he bellowed, grabbing his chair - the one he'd made - and crashing it against the wall unit. The wood cracked and fell away, to no effect on the unit.
His energy spent and aching worse than ever, Gaius fell back against his desk heavily, panting hard with bubbling frustration. He hated the labs. He hated what they had done to him. He hated this duplex and the walls that even now suffocated him. Yet he couldn't supress a shudder at the thought of losing even the psuedo-hands he still had. They'd taken Lucas's eye, so why not something more?
Gaius turned away, his head hung low, and limped toward the door. He needed some kind of fresh air.

The tantrum and intercom-smashing was effective in ceasing Sabin's voice from coming through the duplex (for now), but not the dark chuckle coming from the man himself miles away in his office.
Gaius Harper
The one thought that plagued Gaius's anguished mind as he stepped out into the warm air was... how was he going to tell Nita?
