"********!" Victor shouted as the dog lunged at him and BIT him! The goddamn Dog Bit him! Donner grabbed him on one of his lower chest arms, and it certainly didn't feel like a n**, the dog's teeth scratching the scaleless flesh, drawing three red lines that immedately started to bleed. Nothing serious, enough to make a mess but not anything a few bandades couldn't fix.
But it did hurt, and would leave a bruise later.

Victor used his larger, stronger foreleg to push the dog back, shoving Donner in the chest.

"Call your Damn Dog off and get it away from me!"

Donner's action was the thing that snapped Amaya from her shock. "Donner! Stop now!" She reached forward and grabbed his collar, wrenching him back. The dog continued to bark and try to worm out of her grasp.

"I-... I'm sorry I-..." The girl fumbled, unable to piece together words or to tear her eyes away from the monstrosity in front of her.

Donner was a thing possessed, barking and snappin and not seeming to listen to any consolation that Amaya was trying to use to either calm him down or pull him off of Alec. He had threatened his female, and that was unforgivable.

So as the strong Donner wrenched from her grasp and went again for Victor, the... strangest thing happened. As Donner's jaws were just wrapping around Victor's scaly flesh, the dog went rigid... and then limp.

His body collapsed onto the ground, motionless except for a steady intake and exhale of breath. And so he would remain until Victor was no longer in the viscinity.

Victor didn't hear Amaya or her attempt to apologize for the incident, he was too busy focusing on the barking, jaw snapping angry Donner. He needed to get away, back to the village clinic to get something for the bite.

Holding his injured arm with a couple of his other ones, he glared at Amaya, he didn't care that she looked like an Iguana-lizard thing, her dog Attacked him, and it was just as well Amaya had done the deed herself.
"You keep the hell away from me!" Victor shouted and had started to scuttle away when Donner finally broke free of Amaya's grasp, and came at him again.

The lizardman froze, his expression quickly turning to a mask of fear as he pushed himself back, falling into the sand as he raised his scaled foreleg up to protect his face and throat.

But just as the attacking dog's jaws started to close on his limb, Donner's body suddenly became still, going limp and collapsing to the warm beachsand.

Victor quickly pushed the unconscious Donner away from himself with a leg, struggling as he got himself turned about and back on his feet, breathing hard for a minute, feeling his heart racing in his chest, looking at the fallen dog. was it dead? no, it was asleep, like the labs had buzzed it, just like they had done to the islanders before. The lizardman took the opportunity to get himself away from the dog, shooting another angery glare at Amaya as he started to head towards the jungle again, hoping to see a path nearby, but keeping an eye on Amaya and Donner.

"your dog..it jussst attacked me twicsse! you let it bite me"

Amaya let out another scream as Donner wrenched from her grasp and went after the poor disfigured man again. "DON-" But her protest was cut short as her pet went limp and then fell to the ground. Her hands went over her muzzle. They must have had chips in their necks too...

Then her attention was brought back to Victor. "I didn't mean to! You scared me! I- I-..." She fumbled for words to use, but couldn't find anything comforting.

"I ssscared you? Thatsss why I tried getting your attention before getting any clossser! Ssso you wouldn't freak out but you ssstill did" Victor ignored the fact that he had come up on her where she couldn't see him. But they were past that now, his arm was still bleeding, if only enough to make a mess, but the bitten area was already starting to visibly bruise on the scaleless flesh. He looked at the dog laying in the sand, making sure it was still asleep, the labs must have buzzed it or something.

"I gotta get to the clinic..get thisss taken care of.." Victor said as he moved up the beach more, then stopped. Which way was the path to get back?
The lizardman thumped his tail against the sand in annoyance, doubling back and moving past Amaya again, glancing at her, and the dog, worried it might wake back up.

Amaya flicked her tongue as she watched Victor shuffle back and forth to make his way to the clinic. She nibbled on her bottom lip, watching him and unable to think of anything to say for a few moments. "I know but I-... my hearing isn't that good anymore... and... I..." She paused, hesitating on what she wanted to say. Her yellow eyes stayed on his body as much as his eyes stayed on Donner.

"I've never seen..." She trailed off, sure her message about his freakish apperance would get across. "I'm sorry. I am." The iguana said sincerly... and she was sorry, because even though every time she looked at him shivers went up her spine, she knew it wasn't his fault and the labs did this to him. On the inside he was still a person.

It was just so hard to keep thinking that. He looked so... horrible. Like the failed experiments her and Greer had found during the lockout. "I've never seen Donner attack someone before. He's just normally growls. I... you shocked me. I was too scared to grab him." She admitted.

" I get that alot nowadaysss, not many people have ssseen many like me, but if the labsss keep up with it, you might have to sssee more" Victor stopped where he was and sat still for a moment, slowly looking over the jungle edge so he could find the path back to the village. "Nexst time, get a ssstrong leasssh for the Dog." He said flatly as he finally looked like the path and started towards it. Yes! there was the path, the one he would have come out on if he didn't take that short cut. Victor scuttled his way towards it, then stopped to look over his shoulder at the iguana lady.

"Whats your name anyway?"

The teenager nodded sadly. "I've seen some of their failed experiments before..." She remembered watching Greer put the tiny, deformed mouse out of it's misery and how she had cried for it and cursed the labs for hurting all of them. Victor was the same, but instead of being put out of his misery he would be forced to live on in a deformed body... at least until he died or decided to take his own life.

"Amaya." She said, watching as he left. "What's yours?" Amaya left out her last name, wanting to forget it herself... it tied her to things she wanted to forget. To a life she wanted to forget. Remembering being human was too painful.

"Really? I get to sssee one every day when I look in the mirror, thanksss for reminding me" Victor said, unimpressed and not caring Amaya had seen 'failed' experiments before. The lizardman hissed just under his breath, taking one more look at the Iguana.

"Victor, now have a good day" He pushed himself over the sand and to the junglepath, not bothering to turn around and look back, he had to get to the clinic, and was worried what jungle predators might do if they could smell his blood.

He had meant to go to the beach with Emelyn, but he was here by himself. The dogs, Dasher and Rueben, were back at the duplex. They probably would have enjoyed this trip, but he didn't want to spend the entire time chasing them, trying to keep them from running off and out of trouble. Emelyn had not come back that night. She didn't come back any of the following days. Reuben had once again become a guest in his duplex. The labs weren't forthcoming with information. All he knew was that she was uninjured and in good health and to stop calling. He could only sit around waiting to know what had happened, but at least he felt certain she wasn't hurt.

How tempted he'd been to head over to the bar at the beach. It was right there. And he could certainly use it. Everything that had been happening recently had him in a pretty low mood. Sitting in the sand, he stared out on the ocean. He wasn't thinking about anything in particular. He just relaxed as the wind blew into his face, causing his hair and fur to whip around him. He did briefly wonder why he hadn't worn his bandages there. With his bangs flapping all over the place there was nothing to cover his eye. But it wasn't much of a concern. There was no one around.

Things had not been well either for the island's resident pegasus-man. The past days since his conversation with Nita had been torture. He'd thrown himself into everything he could think of, but nothing held him. Woodcarving was an exercise of frustration as the tools continually slipped from his clunky grip. Anything less involved, like jungle walks and visits to the entertainment room, left him with too much room for mental wandering, and his thoughts always came back to the same depressing cycle. Zach, his family back in the states, his fate as a winged horse, and his new separation from Nita.

And there was the blasted itching of the shaved area. Hair was STILL growing in after almost a month.

Finally sick of it all, Gaius set out from the village, Vixen at his heels as his constant herd/pack-companion. His pace quickened as he went, until he was full-out running, hoof-feet pounding the dirt and mane flapping behind him. He might have been able to go faster had it not been for his sizable wings catching the wind awkwardly despite his efforts to fold them against his back. They were like small parachutes, too willing to catch the air beneath them. He could feel the tug at his back. What would full-sized wings be able to do...?

His goal had been to run on the beach. Run and run until he fell down and couldn't run anymore. Lose himself in the pure physical exhaustion. It seemed those plans would have to be put on hold, though. Gaius stopped short as he spotted a dark figure against the late afternoon sky. It was difficult to make out the details with the sun relatively behind the figure, but he could make out the generally canine-like features.

He wasn't all too keen on being social, or at least pleasant (since company always brought a sense of safety), but he knew it'd be impolite to ignore them. Lifting a hand, he called, "Hey! Enjoying the breeze?"

There had been plenty to alert Lucas of Gaius' approach. The man's scent, the sound of his hooves on the sand and the ruffling of his wings from the breeze. But he missed them. Or ignored them. Instead he watched the rolling waves and only took notice when the man spoke. Words that broke into his daze.

Reaching a hand up to hold his bangs down, he tried to make it look natural, not like he was trying to hide something.

"Oh, hey, Gaius. Yeah, I guess you could say that." He glanced back down at the water. "Enjoying a run?"
PostPosted: Wed Apr 25, 2007 8:15 pm

Gaius missed the self-consciousness of Lucas's movement, but he recognized the voice in an instant. He was instantly feeling awkward himself in light of recent developments. He'd not even seen the dhole since before the eye incident... The last time had been that truth or dare party months ago. His tell-all ears flicked nervously as he slowly walked over to stand on Lucas's right side.

"Hey Lucas, didn't realize it was you..." His tone was a lot more somber than it'd been in his initial greeting. "...You doing alright?"

In the meantime, Vixen'd bounded past the two, not stopping as Gaius had, and was crashing out into the surf, despite the still-healing scratches on her face.

It was different because it was him and not someone else? He might have wondered if the man was just disappointed it wasn't someone else. But not only had he caught the change in tone, but the phrasing of the question, as well. Not 'how are you?' or 'how have things been?' For a moment Lucas wondered if the other man had seen his eye. Could he have been told? Who could have told him?

No... He released a slow breath of air. Perhaps Gaius just asked that because he was sitting out here on the beach, alone, and probably looking pretty miserable.

"I'm...fine. How about you?" He had not noticed anything wrong with Gaius' wing and Vixen was too far to give him the chance to see the scratches.
