And there were the ruins again. A damnable sight if he ever saw one.
This time, he wasn't going to be leaving until that place was in the hands of the mining company. He was moving slowly at first, one sword, nearly six feet long, in his right hand with another about a half foot shorter than that in the left. The moment his foot touched on the ground, Athan took a deep breath, settling himself down.
There was a man there, encased in fire that didn't look natural in any way, shape, or form.
He already had an idea who that was, but that was irrelevant anymore. What was relevant was the fact that he was right in his path.
His right hand tightened its grip on the Kel'Drin as he walked forward, a tiny yellow orb beginning to filter its way into one of the holes within the base of the sword's blade. If anyone had been aware of that at the Shade's base before, they would know what to expect.
As the tiny ball of energy filled up, he could already feel the weight of the sword grow. It was nothing he couldn't wield efficiently, but with just one hand it'd take a little longer to swing until he released that energy.
And he kept walking towards the ruins.

Kami was off like a bullet, his body burning away a portion of the alchahol in his bloodstream for a sudden burst of physical strength. It would only be an instant, but that was enough to propel himself towards Vahn with more than impressive speed. His other hand flung itself out of the oversized sleeve of his kimono, whipping out his sectioned staff. The chains between its seven segments remainded extened and whipped out in at Vahns arms in an attempt to prevent the downward swing. The ofuda circling Vahn meanwhile, swirled about and attached themselves to the blade he wielded. Being that they were set to subdue anything of the fire element (yes this includes heat), they should do well to cut off most of the heat about the blade and hopefully ruin the vacum. Kami meanwhile was hurtling towards the berzerker.
The rooks now began to turn their attention to stacking masonry in front of the massive gap that was the entrance. The archers and Null bishops up top keeping an eye out for anyone heading their way.

He was... still... HERE.
So laying low while the rest of the unit retreated made them think he was gone as well. s**t, he was the boss, not Fourteen, who was his second in command, and the order for everyone to fall bac would not be followed by him.
For all the Shades knew or cared, he was either dead or had retreated as well. And, being still in chameleon form, he'd begin to scale the south wall of the fortress, using the darkness of night as cover.
Infiltration, sabotage, and assassinations were what he was best at.

Hitting the dirt Quin layed on his back, thankful for the night's darkness cloaking them. He could see the bands of green that showed where life was and there was always those flames just looming inside the ruins, casting those horrible shaddows.
Was it that monster from before? It seemed the rest of the team was doing well. Being mortal and fully knowing he had limitations he would wait tell someone else gave away their positions.

Shouyin entered from the north, Crescent Plains and all that. Taking a quick surveying glance he'd run forwards, taking swift cover behind the nearest clump of ruination. Back to the wall he'd siddle to the side, holding pistol at the ready as he peered around the corner, trying to gauge the target, which he assumed was that big fortress in the middle.
He'd tilt the radio towards his mouth, tucking his chin in and to the right and pressing a button to SEND.
"This is Velvel to any miner troops in the Lakeside Ruins area, I've entered in from the Crescent Plains, going to approach the fortress, over," he said in a hushed voice, hoping to avoid any friendly fire amonst his comrades. Although, he was even sure how many of his teammates had radios to listen or respond with.
The transmission finished, the half-golem would start moving in, silenced pistol held barrel pointing up beside his face, combat knife gripped with the blade pointing down and away from his body, positioned about two feet in front of his chin. He'd take it quickly, moving from one set of ruins to another in the direction of the fortress with only brief pauses to gauge enemy activity. Which seemed pretty hefty what with that guy with the sword... it couldn't be.
Vahn?

And yet, Athan didn't seem too concerned about giving away his position. His right hand still squeezed tightly to the to hilt of his weapon. He wasn't getting close very quickly, but within a matter of moments he would most definetly be spotted.
A second yellow orb was already beginning to fill up. Another charge of energy, another addition to the stockpile. And the sword grew heavier yet. A grunt escaped his lips as he leaned slightly to the right, shifting his arm so he could better carry the burden of the pent up force that rested within the sword, threatening to break its way out if it was not released soon.
"Gonna tear this place apart..."

With a blur of movement coming from his side and pheripheral vision catching said movement, he wasn't all surprised to see somebody coming at him.
His left arm was free and used to fend off the chains.
All that had done how ever was alter the trajectory of his intial swing as any wards that attempted to seal themselve sonto the Fang during the shot would be burnt to a mere crisp through the staggering power that only the Avatar of flame's own sword could create (It wasn't called Efreet's Fang for looks).
The projectile went hurtling into the side of the fortress (more right than left or center)-- presumably taking a deep chunk with it or maybe causing a chain reaction of the entire structure becoming unstable and collapsing, only the builders of said ruins would know.
The remaining wards attached to the Fang, and steam would be continually emmitted as eventually one by one each slip would burn away.
"You're... not---"
With the Fang lowered, Vahn's left arm would pull in tugging at his assailant via the chains along his arm in order to send himf lying. "--HIM!"

He moved over high ground of the walls, and as everyone was busy looking out to the shore where the shade leader had gone out to fight a man, they probably would never notice the small black hockey-puck shaped mine fly through the air and land right at the doorway by the rooks' feet. Hey, didnt that look familiar? Quote: M2 Concussion Mine: Ji Long carries two minor concussion mines with him on his lower back. The mines are non-lethal and produce a great burst of force which can throws objects up to 200 lbs within ten feet a good distance, cause disorientation, and give people concussions. These mines are remote detonated by a controller installed into his CORE. Every time he receives new mines, he must install its specific coding into the CORE in order to be able to detonate it. And then it would detonate, throwing the stone masonry and rooks up into and around the air, striking anything in its path, loose stone blocks heading in the direction of both Kami and Vahn. And with that, Ji Long had his pistol out at the ready in his right hand, and in his left, his combat knife.

Once the rocks went flying, Athan was jogging forward. The weapon at his right side was now risking to drag itself against the ground, his eyes narrowed to slits as he threw his arm forward once, towards the shades that had been erecting the walls. The crescent blade leapt out like the previous one, four feet in length, practically unstoppable cutting power that would continue through the majority of the camp before simply fading from existence. If the shade workers there weren't able to avoid being disoriented by the concussive blast, the quick-traveling energy blade would cut them down in an instant.
In this case, that also happened to be a section of the main building and any person that happened to be near the four foot marker of height.
The second charge was reserved for anyone that got in his path the moment that he set foot inside the complex.
