bluestarryskies Unfortunately, we only have one nice trumpet. She quit band because of sports. We have no nice trumpets out of a total of nearly 20. One of the female trumpets is so mean, she like encourages her section to be hostile toward other sections and likes to pick on us. So annoying, I'm glad she's graduating. That's our job. We're supposed to think we're better then everyone else, then prove it when the teacher still gives us all the solos. Trumpets make everyone else strive to be better, so it can be shoved in our faces. Hating the trumpets is a fun thing to do; even I hate us sometimes. You gotta admit, we have more fun then the safe, boring sections, hands down though. No?

Either the alto saxophones or the drummers, just because they talk way to much and we constantly have to stop for them.
Or quite possibly the tenors because both of them are obnoxious idiots who can't stop talking, can't play their instruments, and on top of that, Tory broke his mouth peice for a second time! After Mrs. Robinson had it fixed! It's not even his. stare

I've decided that I don't like trumpets.
Too much blasting, waaay too loud and just an annoying noise. I don't find anything good about them, at all.

Lizard1016 for us it's the drum line. they can't play together... everwow, really? For us, the drumline is the most intense section! Mr. Starnes is always like, "Why can't you guys be more like the drumline?" They NEVER talk and are ALWAYS in step. If they get more than one 16th not off, then they're made to do laps like crazy. Man... I so wanna be a bass drummer... Or tenors! Tenors are so cool...

Grr.. I don't like the trumpets either. They think they'll all that and are the best and loudest and "Main" instrument in the band. They make too much on an annoying blasting sound. So we just outdo them in everything....Including solo tests and section practice.

Ergh. I hate the clarinets. They're idiots. At least in our band. The people...their personalities are unbearable.

I think I posted in here before about the instrument's sound...now I want to harp about disliked sections in terms of personality.
Oboes. There are only two of them, but they are both cocky, self-centered, and...ugh. One of them plays really well, and I don't mind her quite as much as the one who had a solo on one song and instead of playing it, kept messing up and laughing.

It is my opinion that a person doesn't display the personality characteristics of their instrument until they've been playing it for a while (or are in the marching band). Therefore, I think it unfair to judge sections in their entirety, as their characteristic makeups vary from band to band. Every section has their strong points and weaknesses.
Those I dislike most strongly in my band are freshmen non-marching percussionists and (freshmen non-marching) trumpets, and the tubas. Not because of their instruments, though. Their characteristics are...highly undesireable and incomparable to their section's characteristics.
Simply put, they're not for the band whole-heartedly.

Masquanade I don't have one. sweatdrop Usually when I "hate an instrument" it's because of the person that plays them, not the instrument itself. Yah, same here. I love all instruments and their sounds. blaugh

In our band- the trombones... for a couple reasons ( such as the second chair can't play an actual note or buzz- so it sounds all spitty, and that the third chair talks during the song that the rest of the band is playing, and talks through parts where the entire band takes the rest for the dramatic or whatever feeling -stares at teacher stare - )
