Hatori remained silent for a moment or two, a dark shadow falling across his face. After a moment, he looked up and smiled brightly at Akira. "It's just my last name." He spoke quietly before looking down. "A horrible name...ne....?" He walked Akira to a seat and pulled out the chair for him, smiling.

"I guess. But, it could be put as a good way too. Since, it's a guardian of death. You can save people from it. You are a doctor aren't you? You can save people from death. So, I don't think it's that bad..." Akira said timidly. He sat down as soon as the other held out a chair for him. He wasn't really used to a place this fancy. It made him a little nervous. Although, he tried his best not to show it.

Akira felt a little bad asking, since he could tell it hit a bad nerve. So, he just didn't continue on with that subject anymore.

Taku walked back to his box room completely lost in his own thoughts. He kept running through the conversation with Kou in his mind and yet he still couldn’t come up with a defiant course of action. Eventually he changed into clean un-sake smelling clothes and phoned the hospital to make the appointment to have a blood test. It seemed he caught them at just the right time. One of their patients had just had to drop their appointment so there was a space free if he would be happy to meet the doctor in about half an hour. He thanked to women and told her that would be fine. The sooner he got this sorted out the better. Then again that little unwanted thought kept pushing it’s way rudely into his mind. What if he was negative? Could he really go back to Kou then. He shook his head and grabbed his things since it was a half and hour walk to the hospital anyway he should make it just in time.

When he reached the hospital everything went rather smoothly. There was a fifteen minute wait after which he explained his situation to the Doctor with a lot of blushing and nervous stuttering, although he left out Kou’s name and anything that might give him away, the doctor got the idea thought an took the blood with a evilly long needle. Taku looked away at this part, he hated needles. The doctor told him that if he would care to wait then he would have the results in a hour or two.Taku nodded, he would wait. But not feeling much like hanging around in the waiting room he slipped back out onto the street thinking of getting tea at one of the tea rooms nearby, almost unconsiously he headed in the direction of the condo which Kou shared with the colourful bunch.

Hatori smiled sadly at Akira before sitting down himself. There was already some appetizers there of calimari, italian bread, and several other fancy things. A waitor came in and inquire as to their preferred drink. "What's the best wine you have? We'll have that." The waitor bowed and then left. Hatori looked down at his plate, his mind seeming preoccupied.

Looking over at Hatori he frowned a little. There was an awkward silence growing between the two of them, and Akira hated awkward silences. He knew he was being nosey, but he hated seeing Hatori like that. "Mou, daijoubu Ha-kun? You seem troubled." he said with a small pout. Folding his arms on the table, he rested his chin on his arms as he looked up at the other. Although Akira was rather hungry, he decided to eat later. After he found out what was up with Hatori.

"Hm?" Hatori looked up. He loved the way that Akira called him Ha-kun. He had always wanted to be called that, if not Hatori-kun, but the children at school always called him 'Shinigami'. A smile graced Hatori's beautiful, pale pink lips. "Just some bad memories, is all." It was true, he had been thinking about some memories...although not all of them were about his childhood. The waitor came back in with a bottle of deep red-purple wine and he poured some in a glass for Hatori. Hatori took the glass and took a sip of the wine. The waitor waited, standing beside him, watching his face to see if it was a good wine. Hatori smiled and swallowed this sip. "I think this will do finely, thank you." The waitor nodded and filled his glass before filling Akira's as well. He then placed the wine in a stand filled with ice and bowed his way out of the room. "Tell me, Akira...exactly what is it that you do?" Hatori tore off a piece of Italian bread and placed it in his mouth, chewing with an elegance that indicated that he had been raised to do everything with a heavy-handed measure of propriety.

Akira sat up again and nibbled on the bread cutely. Brushing his hair out of his face he grinned happy that the other was smiling again. "I'm a translator. I translate books, anime, movies, stuff like that. Mostly books. Like the one I'm working now, I'm translating a Japanese novel into English." He said and took another bite of his bread. Chewing it a bit he swallowed.

"I'm also a part time voice actor. For cartoons and anime and stuff. I'll go from kids shows to explicit yaoi. My most famous characters are Daisuke from the anime Escape and Kamui from this one yaoi anime." Akira said and grinned proudly.

Even though Akira wasn't brought up so well to adapt to a fancy enviorment like the one he was in, he could be pretty proper. He tried to be anyways to the best of his abilities. He was glad that they were in a private room and that no one could stare at him if he messed up. He was still rather nervous.

Hatori's face flushed when he mentioned yaoi and he quickly took a sip of wine. "That sounds great! You must be very famous..." He smirked. "You sure you want to be seen with a lowly doctor like my--" Just then someone came bursting into the room, crying hysterically. The waitor stood by the door, mumbling an appology that he couldn't keep the man out. The man ran up to Hatori and hugged him around his waist, burying his head in his lap. "Thank you so much, Shiniga--- I mean Hatori-san!! I finally understood what you said! You're right, I shouldn't think of the situation that way! I tried what you said...you're a life-saver!! I can't believe this, that this was all caused by the children in my school!! Thank you so very much!! I owe you my life!"

Hatori blinked, looking down at the man. He turned and gave Akira a sheepish grin before patting the man on his head. "Don't worry about it, Kosuke-kun...It's what I do, you know that. Now...I'm entertaining someone here...he's very special to me...so...if you don't mind...?"

Kosuke looked up and actually saw Akira for the first time since he had burst into the room. "Oh! Excuse me!" He said, a blush creeping up his neck and into his cheeks. He bowed himself out and the waitor closed the doors behind him.

Hatori shook his head and took another sip of his wine. "My appologies...Kosuke-kun has been going through a lot...."

"It's fine." Akira laughed sipping the wine. He wasn't really much of a wine fan, or a fan of alcohol at all, since he was a lightweight and got drunk easily. He avoided drinking as much as possbile. But a sip wouldn't help every now and then. Watching the other who barged in leave he just grinned back at Hatori.

"Iie, that's not true! I like you Ha-kun. And you must be really good considering what that man said. And you can pay for an expensive place like this. I can barely afford staying in my condo." He said laughing nervously and scratched the back of my head. "That's why I got a roomate to help me share the rent." he said.

"Soshite, I'm not that famous. They spelled my name wrong in a lot of the credits." Akira laughed and shook his head taking a bite of the calamari. "So, no one really recognizes me right away. Except for Otaku. Who recognize my voice whether I'm using my character's voice or not." He said and shook his head.

He suddenly remembered being mobbed by that odd girl that morning when he was heading towards the subway.

Hatori was silent for a long time. Perhaps he was good at fixing others, but...inside...Hatori was the most broken of all. He avoided examining himself, afraid of what he would find there. Hatori seemed about to say something very important when the waiter came in, bearing two large platters. They had not ordered, which was strange, but Hatori didn't seem startled. The waitor knew him so well, he knew what he would order, and he assumed that his date would want the same. The waitor set the platters down in front of each of them, and then bowed out again. The platters were covered with miscellaneous food: lobster, steak, chicken, salmon, pork, salad, vegetables, fruit. Hatori smiled and looked down at his food. His favorite dish, comprised of a little bit of everything, and yet...at the moment...he couldn't touch a bite of it. He was suddenly very queasy at the thought of food.

Akira fidgeted, he was always uncomfortable in silences, and could never stay still. Maybe he had that ADHD mess. He wasn't really sure. But the food that appeared suddenly seemed a lot better than he thought it would and started to nibble at a few things here and there. "Oishi..." he cooed. Akira loved fish and when he took a bite of the salmon, his eyes seemed to sparkle at the taste of good food.

However, he noticed that Hatori wasn't eating and stopped. Once again he pouted. "Mou, daijoubu? You seem really distracted tonight...I didn't do anything did I? Not moving to fast? I didn't say something I should've? Or said something I shouldn't have?" Akira asked starting to get worried. He didn't want to ruin his first date from some silly mistake.

"Ah?" Hatori looked up at him, confused. Then it dawned on him...he was being very rude and making Akira uncomfortable. "O no! I'm so sorry, I'm just...I'm not feeling very well at the moment, that's all." He smiled. "Please don't pay me any heed. You haven't done anything wrong." Hatori smiled and reached across the table to take his hand. "I promise. I'm sorry I'm so distracted. I'll try to be better." He smiled brightly and then turned to his plate. He took a bite of lobster and smiled at the taste. Then it hit him: how hungry he was. His eyes widened and he began to eat faster, without losing an ounce of grace as he did so. After finishing a few bites, he took a sip of wine and then spoke. "Akira...I'd be willing to pay for your condo, the whole thing. And if you're having financial troubles in anything else, you can always ask me for help. I don't mind. I'd actually enjoy the chance to help you."

Akira was glad that the other was feeling a little better and started eating, and he didn't do anything. He relaxed a lot more after that. Still holding onto his hand, he smiled then let go and started to eat. But when the other offered to pay, he dropped his fork and it landed on his plate with a loud clatter. His dark eyes going wide.

"Iie! It's okay. Really! Thank you though! I just need to get another job or something. I'll be fine! I really will. I have a roomate and everything." He said blushing deeply. "Arigatou gozaimasu!" he squeaked out.

"And, it's okay if there's something on your mind. I may talk a lot but I listen pretty well too...so, if you wanna talk about it...I'll be more than happy to listen." he said pouting slightly again. But in a cute way.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 21, 2006 1:49 pm

Hatori smiled. "Another job? Not a good idea. Believe me, being overworked is hell. I'll at least help pay for it. No 'but''s and no excuses. I'm helping." Hatori stared at Akira as he told him he could talk to him and then he let his gaze drop to his plate. He had never once told anyone what went on in his heart. It was a delicate place, a place of chaos and uncertainty. Most of all, uncertainty. He looked back up at Akira and smiled. "Perhaps another time, when we can speak in private." Hatori knew that the waitor was listening at the door and in all honesty didn't want the man to know his problems. "And...thank you, Akira-kun..." He took another bite of lobster, chewing it delicately. What a kind, intriguing person.

He sighed then pouted a little more. "Fine. But, don't spend too much. I can still pay for it if I ask for a raise. I am a senior at my translating business. I'm sure I can get a raise easily..." Akira said making a fish face then went back to eating picking up his fork again.

"Okay. That sounds better anyways. I think someone is listening anyways." he said glancing over to the door and chuckled.

"I can deal with the other job. I mean, I would have a lot of free time if I didn't force myself to finish translating a book three days before the dead line then asking for another book..." He said. He just laughed nervously and scratched the back of his head then went back to eating.
