Jaster looked took the medicine, and felt overwhelmed. The peace, and healing feeling he felt was astronomical. It didn't come without it's price though, the pain of the bolt was still there. It would have to be removed and cleaned later. As he watched Kernyel fall to her back, sound asleep in the mud, he took his pouch from his side and set it under her head. He whispered, "Thank you. I feel much better. I hope this sets us even."
The sun came out, and he saw Alhana. He also saw a new player. He had Alhana held, and defenseless. Jaster was in a sorry, sorry, shape, but he was more than willing to do this again. He looked at this new person, and said nothing. He made no move towards him, and only acknowlegded his existence. His eyes, however, said something quite different. His eyes asked this newcomer why. Why, why have you kidnapped this woman. What has she done to you that you must use such deadly force?
Then his eyes turned to fire. He knelt down and one knee, and set his sword into the ground before him. He bowed his head, and said a prayer. As he did so, a beam of white light encircled him, and then faded away. In it's aftermath, his longsword glowed a brilliant white, and what could only be described as mystic runes shone against it on the steel. He whispered, "When there is darkness, let me give light." With that, his sword flashed an incredible white light, then faded back to it's previous state. He held it before him, and watched the new player with firey eyes, but made no move to attack. He waited for a move to be made on him, and was ready to defend himself.

Arkayid jumped up, and drew his sword, his wings flaring up into a threat display. "Let her go..." He snarled at the newcomer.
Alhana wondered what the hell was this man asking for, and why he wanted to know where this monk lived. Last time she was here, there was no monk here. "I don't... Know." She coughed. She didn't want to reveal to the poor sucker that she was really in control. She could easily grab his energy blade holding arm, dislocate it at the shoulder and flip him over her shoulder. Of course, such thoughts were rarely true, in her expierience.

His red eyes glared at them all. He knew there was no way top avoid battle. The girl he held, could easily grab his energy blade holding arm, dislocate it at the shoulder and flip him over her shoulder, from the way she was standing as he held her. He relized this girl was of no use anymore, she had the upperhand. So he unsheathed his energy blade back into his wrist. From there he punched her in the back knocking her into a cold dark slumber. He layed her aganst the wall of the building. He then looked at the ones who opposed him. He unsheath all of his energy blades from his back and arms. He looked at them with no emotion on his face and said, "You care for this girl's life do you not? Yet you bring emotions of anger and purhaps friendship into battle. Low life bandits as yourselves can not hope to win a battle with those on your side... before I do what I most do, know this... Emotions that get into your way will destroy you, secondly, darkness is something that you will never hope to defeat, it will always come back, it never dies, letting emotions run wild will lead to you to pure darkness overtime. Then... other have to pay for it." At that moment Shad looked at his energy blades then looked at the enemys before him. He sheathed his blades and turned around. "She will be fine, just give her a day or two then she'll come back to you. She is lost in dreams, her hope will lead her back. The rain, had stopped and Shad walked away into another house looking for clues.

"Jasper, that's your name yes? Do you know what that was about?" Arkayid sheathed his sword and went to Alhana. Crouching down, he checked on her and nodded. "Two days for maybe a normal person, but not a dragon." He said confidently. "See? She's coming around now." Arkayid said. Alhana stirred like he said and sat up. "What was that about, Arkayid?"
"You tell me. He blathered on about emotions and left. He also called us 'low-life bandits."
Alhana said something in draconic, which sounded quite gutteral. Arkayid's pale gold features turned almost white. "You wanna do what with kitchen implements and him?"
"You heard me."
"Well sure but..."
"That's enough, Arkayid."
"Yes mother."

As the man turned and walked away, Jaster's sword faded to it's usual cold steel. He sheathed it and thought on it. He didn't like showing his edge and not using it. Every bit his enemy knew about him made the enemy that much more dangerous.
He turned to Arkayid and said, "The name's Jaster, sir. And I've no idea what that was about. I presume if I did know, I'd be on his side, and not ours." He flashed a toothy grin and added, "Though next time if he engages these 'low life bandits' in battle, he won't be so lucky."
He listened in on what he could of their conversation, and smiled inwardly at Alhana's comment. Though he didn't understand it, Arkayid said enough to make it crystal clear. He limped off to where Kernyel lay sleeping, and knelt in the mud beside her. He put his hand on her forehead; it felt warm. Then he checked her heartbeat on her neck, and found a pulse. Smiling to himself, he said a prayer for her recovery, and waited for her to come to.

It was a long while before Kernyel came around again. When she did, it was to a very sunny, very muddy afternoon. Her head was pounding and she felt like she'd been dropped from a three story window.
In a rush, she sat up, looking around for her companions. Only to see her world tilt and spin violently before she fell back on her 'pillow' and swallowed hard to keep the nausea at bay.
"Oh, gods, kill me now...." she groaned disgustedly. She felt around for her bag, and finding it, took a potion from a tiny pocket that she kept from most of her other supplies for just such occassions as this. Taking the bottle out akwardly, she took the stopper off and put the blue-green liquid to her lips, eyes shut the whole time for fear of what a look of the world around her might bring again...
With the foul tasting brew down her parched throat, she took a deep breath and felt her body righting its balance and energy begin to seep slowly into her limbs. She would still need plenty of rest, but at least she wouldn't have to be carried anywhere if they didn't go too far.
The reality of what she had almost done had not really hit Kernyel yet. Sitting up slowly, she saw the scythe and her belongings and her friends huddled together only a few yards away. It didn't even occur to her to be grateful they were still there; it just hadn't clicked in her yet. Beside herself, her staff was no longer the dark brown wood it had always been, but it was slick black and the intricately rune-engraved bronze rings and designs that crept around it in dizzying arrays now had a dull, tarnished look; like it hadn't been polished after being set. The normally grayish-white, heavily included orb that had graced the top was not an opaque black, inscrutable and thick. She shook her head slightly at the sight of it and immediately stopped herself with a whoosy breath.
There were obviously wounds to tend to, and she knew a little of that. Raising herself slowly with the aid of her staff, she made her way over to her friends, mud thick on the whole backside of her dress and caked in her hair.
Turning to Arkayid, she spoke faintly "Do you still have the herbs i gave you?" They were meant for the men, to stem infection and speed healing whether applied directly or taken internally; the effect would be the same. She hung her head weakly and begged, "Let's get somewhere with a bed...and a bath" with a grim look at the back of her sleeves. "I cannot stand much longer..."
A curious thing was lacking in Kernyel's head. She neither knew nor cared about the intruder that had taken her friend, or about how such a wicked scythe had come into her possession. Her mind had simply blocked out all the events of this day before she had fallen, exhausted, in the mud. Perhaps she would remember, perhaps she would not; gods help her if she did....

Jaster looked up, and Kernyel was standing. She seemed groggy and out of of it, but standing nonetheless. He looked back to Alhana and Arkayid and asked, "Either of you know anyplace nearby? The last time I came this way I was leading an attack force." He grinned a bit and said, "We were the stealthy ones, we didn't really have time to stop and rest. I know there's a small village a good few miles to the north, but that was years ago, and their Inn may not be well equipped."
He walked back over to the ground where Kernyel had laid and picked his pouch off the ground. He winced at the crossbow bolt protruding from his abominals, and then stood. He looked down at the platemail and sighed. He should have known better than trust Alexander to take his time and make a stong, well built piece of equipment. When they got to Domachi, he would need to have a word with his old friend, and show him the 'damaged merchandise.' And if that wasn't enough to convince him to make a new set, Jaster may just have to resort to showing him the other piece of steel. The one he carried in the sheath on his back. Extortion? Yes. But at least it'd get the job done. For now though, some polishing and perhaps some jury-rigging repairs would solve it. Maybe he'd just take one of his foot-plates and weld it. Nah, he thought. He'd just leave it as it was.
He picked up his dented shield, and then went to the others. "Alhana, Arkayid, Kernyel, are you all alright? My damages are minimal, thanks to your potions. I pray your damage is as minimal. And unless either of you knows a better place to stay, perhaps we should be headin' out North?" And with that, he looked up to the heavens and whispered loud enough for only he to hear, "Thank you."

"Not really, Jaster. Arkayid, yank that bolt out of Jaster please. I can create shelter if need be, I mean, it would not be that hard."
"You want me to do what?"
"Yank his newly gained bolt out. Give it to him and tell him have a nice day."
"Mother, are you particu--"
"Flustered? Yes."
Arkayid shrugged and approached Jaster. "Well, two things. One, I have to remove that bolt from your chest. I'll have to yank it out. May want to put you out for that, and two... Thanks for showing up."
Alhana approached Arkayid from behind. They looked very similar, except Alhana had more... feminine chracteristics then Arkayid. "I'm quite fine, Jaster, thank you for asking. Kernyel, on the other hand is 'bout ready to pass out if you ask me."

Vrinn and Nera sat by a tree, Vrinn with his spellbook and Nera napping. "Ah, it's been a while since I looked at this. Good thing I can now, or else I might lose some spells from my memory." He looked around at the scenery. "Well, this is very pleasant, I wish I had the time to relax more often." Enjoying your rest, are you? Ah, Kail, you've finally showed up. No thanks to you ditching me. It all turned out fine, right? Whatever. "Let's just go." Kail said from behind them. "We're meeting up with the others." "Why?" Nera woke up. "Hi, Kail! Good to see you back!" "Because it's safer with a group." Kail said a quick "Hi." and then; "Fine. Just don't let them know about your specialty. You'll take all responsibility." "Of course. Let's go." You just like having company, right? How can you read me so well, Nera? 'Cause I'm your familiar? They all set off, in search of the other people Vrinn and Nera had started their trip to Domachi with.

Jaster was injured, and suddenly someone else stood between him and Arkayid. grasping the bolt lodged between his ribs. He blinked, and realized this person was none other than the assailant that had taken Alhana hostage. His instincts took over, and his warrior training kicked in. He heard nothing of what this monster said, and instead spun and bent this being's wrist backwards until it let go of the bolt. Like a cat, he leapt back a few yards and drew his sword. He looked squarely at his assailiant and whispered, "Where there is hate, let me bring peace."
At this point, the steel should have erupted into blazing white fire. But nothing happened. It stayed cold steel. The only way this could have happened is if the assailant wished no harm upon him or his allies. He let his sword fall to his side, but did not sheath it. He narrowed his eyes at this man and asked, "What is it that you want? Why do you ambush us so? Ambushing a group of wanderers is not very good for your general health, and more so for this group here."

Kernyel had watched this scene unfold in apparent slow motion, devoid of any sound. Her mind just wasn't keeping up with anything. She made a frustrated growl low in her throat, which unbeknownst to her only came out as a choked-sounding whimper.
She looked a Jaster and slowly swung her head to the strange new man in their midst. Who would be so foolish? her mind wondered vaguely. No one just popped up, pushed Arkayid away, and grabbed a weapon that was lodged in someone else; what an idiot.... she mused, a slow smile of amusement at this thought creeping over her features. If she'd been able to see herself, she'd have thought that of all of them, she looked most like the town idiot. but, thankfully, she had no such advantage and her mind began to sink further into a fog of odd connections and sleepy images.
Her dazed eyes found Alhana's and she blinked a few times, very slowly, and stood there with a stupid, secret looking grin on her face.
Shaking her head suddenly, things cleared up a bit. Enough for her to see things and understand them accurately. This time she really did let out a frustrated huff and rolled her eyes; much to her nauseated dismay. When she'd righted her balance again, she peered crossly at this new intruder and actually stomped her foot softly. "I don't have time for you." She said softly, almost inaudibly. Her body was more than spent, and her mind was soon to follow if she didn't get some rest very soon.
This being said, she actually turned herself around and began walking. She wasn't trying to be rude to her companions, but she truly didn't have time for this impudent stranger's little games... Turning to her right from the crumbled shambles of what was once the small towns wall, she walked slowly towards what she knew would be some water. It had begun to call to her almost as soon as she shook her head. She was too tired to do much less than follow the prompting.
Once she had gone into a clump of woods just outside the town, it took her less than a moment to find the small pond that seemed to be fed by a mountain stream huddled in the green shade of the trees.
With a sigh, she promptly dropped all she owned: staff, bag, scythe, gown, cloak and boots and began her slow decent into the water. It was cool, but not cold and revived her a bit almost instantly. When she finally found herself immersed up to her chin, she reached around and felt for the clasp at the end of her thick braid and released her muddied locks to the water.
The depths of this suprising pond (shall i call it a lake? 'tis not stagnant..) were clear and calm and held a carpet of soft, green weeds that swayed gently in the current. She sighed under the surface of the water and closed eyes in a smooth and relaxed face, losing herself in the feeling of the water.
It was not long before all one would see, looking into the depths, was a painfuly bright entitiy. All blue and gold and silver and green. She had no real form, but just lay there, dispersed in the waters, and slept.
