Esme arrived at work and stowed away his bicycle before letting himself in. Looking around, he did not see Gideon and he was not sure if he was relieved or disappointed by this fact. Well, at least it meant that he was not blushing from his hairline down to his toes. At least he felt like he must have been blushing that much last night… Esme suddenly realized that he was touching his lips again and quickly yanked his hand back down to his side in embarrassment. He moved quickly to the back to clock in and get a fresh apron, also taking a moment to just calm himself and try to get focused on work. When Gideon did walk in, he couldn’t just fall to pieces and become useless.
Some part of Esme knew that there was no preventing that. The moment he saw Gideon again he would become tongue tied and embarrassed. But he still told himself that would not happen and marched himself out to the front to prepare for any customers that might get an early start on the festivities. Maybe it would be very busy today and he would not have time to think about how it could be that lips pressed to his would send such an electric tingling through his body, right down to his toes. Oh… oh, he was thinking about it again… Esme took up a bar rag and busied his hands and mind with wiping down the already immaculately clean countertop. He really needed the distraction.
He could keep his hands busy, but soon enough his mind began to drift again. He tried to corral those thoughts and focus his mind elsewhere. He had been a little lax on practicing his music, hadn’t he? The excitement of moving in and redecorating had eaten more than enough time already; he should get back to his violin. Oh, and he should talk to his parents. His father especially would want to know that he was doing well and in high spirits. And he genuinely was, though Esme would leave out the part about being worried for Edin. That was one black mark on a primarily very enjoyable start to his stay. Esme’s thoughts briefly drifted to telling his parents about his friendly and fun coworkers, but he quickly thought better of it. How could he tell them about Tsukasa and especially Gideon without becoming far too embarrassed? He had been in Soleil for less than a week and had his first kiss!
Oh… oh, he was definitely thinking about it again. Esme bit his lower lip and kept his head down as he looked for more surfaces to reclean and keep himself busy.

● the Captain's Deck ● mischievous ● with Esme __________________ ___ _ Pleasant humming and singing joined a bell that marked the presence of a new person within the bar, and that individual was no other than Gideon. He was singing to Shakira's Hips Don't Lie. But of course, in Spanish! The sangria haired man approached the bar without a care in the world, only smiling and giving Esme a wink when he saw him. Far above any embarassment from being caught jamming out and singing along to a song with headphones in, Gideon continued his tune as he walked back to clock in and formally change into his bartending clothing. If watching, one could even see he bobbed his head to the beat and occasionally, indeed, shook his hips.
It appears they did not lie, either. When all was said and done, and Gideon's belongings were in his cubby, he washed his hands and made his way to his rightful throne: behind the bar. Leaning his elbow on the counter to address a rather embarrassed and shy looking Esme, the Spaniard could only grin and look incredibly amused. He was in a rather good mood. "Buenos dias, Esme. Good morning. I trust you slept well?" He kept his eyes glued on the blue haired boy's expression, reveling in his reactions. Specifically if he was to take it out on the rag or not. Gideon wasn't meaning to be a tease. In fact, even if they had not kissed prior to this interaction, he would've said the same thing. Small habit of being a bogeyman, it seemed. The sangria haired male also made a mental reminder to possibly share some of the cookies his neighbor had given him with Esme. The boy seemed like he would have a nice sweet tooth, and would appreciate them more. They were certainly wrapped rather cutely.

The door bell chimed and Esme looked up with a ready smile, expecting to greet his first customer of the day. Instead it was Gideon who sauntered in, singing in Spanish. He approached the bar and gave the blushing Esme a smile and a wink. The blue haired waiter was speechless, eyes a bit widened and mouth working though no words spilled out. His blush grew even hotter at the wink. What was wrong with him? He had just been telling himself that he needed to not fall apart the moment that Gideon walked in! But he was doing just that in spite of his best efforts. And just as quickly as Gideon had appeared, he disappeared into the back. Esme watched him go, blinking as he saw Gideon’s hips shake. It made him smile a little in spite of himself. It was such a strange sight… but Gideon looked like he was having such fun! Esme almost felt a little jealous; he wished that he could behave in such a carefree way and not feel at all embarrassed.
Soon enough Gideon was ready and had returned to the bar. And Esme had quickly looked away, once more wiping down the already clean countertop. He tried to pretend that it didn’t fluster him when Gideon leaned on the counter so casually close to him. Esme fidgeted and looked to the man, though his eyes didn’t rise past Gideon’s chest. And what a nice chest it was; he could still remember how it had felt under his palms. Esme bit his bottom lip and wrung the rag in his hands a bit nervously. Wait… Gideon had spoken to him; he should really respond. He should just look up with a smile and say ‘Good morning!’ as he would have just the day before. Esme took a breath, looked up… and immediately looked down again, covering his face with his hands. He did not even put the rag down first.
”Go- good morning…” Esme managed at last, the words muffled behind his hands. Had he slept well? Oh, yes. And he had such a wonderful dream that he was trying not to think about starring the handsome man he was trying not to think about. But it was rather hopeless trying not to think of a man that was right in front of him. And he knew that he was being ridiculous, covering his face, but it was just too hard to look up at the handsome, smiling face. It was barely easier to talk from behind his hands, but it was easier."Um, I um... yes... And you?"

● the Captain's Deck ● mischievous ● with Esme __________________ ___ _ They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and so badly Gideon wanted to take a picture of Esme's current face so he could capture the poor boy's embarrassment for all of eternity. The sangria haired man knew without a doubt in his mind that he wouldn't ever be able to look at such a picture without grinning ear to ear. Esme was truly much too cute for words. It almost proved to be a source of frustration for Gideon. What was he to do with this darling bundle of joy? He was afraid if he teased the boy any more, he would burst.
A simple kiss on the lips proved to change his coworker's demeanor almost completely. Could Esme even look him in the face? What were the others to think? Hazel and Tsukasa might make the jump that they had sex at this rate. Not quite yet, but a man could dream. "I didn't sleep at all. The night was far too beautiful and solicitous to pass up." Gideon admitted this casually, turning to take a look at the drink selection. It was New Year's Eve. They couldn't go running out of liquor when customers would no doubtedly be coming in for a nice drink prepared by the most charming of bartenders.
After the sangria haired man's gaze passed over each of the bottles, he turned his attention back to Esme and reached for the rag between his fingers, instead gently grabbing the boy's wrist. "Esme. Look at me." It was more of a request than a command, but came out wonderfully huskily. "I could give you a real reason to look away...But your face is much too cute for that. I want to see your beautiful eyes, your smile. Don't hide from me." The almost sultry smile he previously had on his face faded into one of true kindness and generosity.
Gideon's grip left the boy to fix him a glass of water. The rag was taken away and used to playfully scoop the younger boy's chin. "Did you have a good time?" The Spaniard left the question intentionally vague and open.

Esme was also afraid that he might just burst if he became any more embarrassed. But he naively believed that Gideon was not teasing him deliberately; it wasn’t the handsome bartender’s fault that he was so easily embarrassed. And it certainly wasn’t his fault that no one else had ever kissed Esme before. Why would he blame the man just for being the first? Of course it had never occurred to the shy waiter that anyone would smile at seeing his face so red. He always thought his awkward behavior was annoying and something that he should change, but he just didn’t know how to.
He also did not know how he could look at Gideon when he was still thinking about that kiss. And he couldn’t stop thinking about it; he had tried! He would have to try harder, though. He knew that. What would the others think if he couldn’t even look at Gideon? At the very least they were sure to think he was having inappropriate thoughts; he should be focused on working. Gideon hadn’t slept at all? Esme pulled two of his fingers apart to peer at the man as he checked over their selection of liquor. The way Gideon spoke was so poetic that the waiter couldn’t help but to be drawn in despite his embarrassment. But he was not quite ready to uncover his face or look Gideon in the eye yet.
And he was not expecting the bartender to take matters into his own hands, taking the rag away and grabbing his wrist. Esme looked up into the bartender’s lively eyes more out of surprise than because Gideon had asked and he was quick to avert his gaze again. He just couldn’t… Looking at Gideon made his face feel hotter and set his hear to racing. It was especially difficult when Gideon used that voice; it made the waiter feel all tingly inside. He should really take a step back and get some air… ”A real reason to look away?” Esme repeated breathlessly, meeting Gideon’s gaze with curiosity in his lavender eyes. What did he mean? Esme didn’t think on that for long, however, as he couldn’t help smiling a little at being told his face was much too cute for that.
Gideon let go of him to bring over a glass of water which the waiter gratefully accepted. He hoped it would help him to cool off a little; he must look like a tomato by now. Gideon asked if he had a good time, a rather vague question, but Esme’s mind went directly to one thing. And he had to drink down two thirds of his glass of water in one go before he could reply. ”Th-that was… my first kiss…” After saying it, Esme felt foolish for doing so. Gideon could surely tell that he had never been kissed before. It was probably awful for the sangria haired male… Esme couldn’t be a very good kisser with no experience. ”I really liked it, though.” Esme admitted very quietly. He almost couldn’t hear his own words over his heartbeat. And for once, he couldn’t tear his eyes away from Gideon’s. What if… what if he really didn’t like it? Or… what if Gideon laughed at him? No… no, he knew that, no matter what, Gideon wasn’t going to laugh at him for that. He just didn’t think that the bartender wanted to be mean to him.
There was something else Esme wanted to say, but it was the hardest part to say aloud. Still… if not now, then he didn’t think he ever would. So the waiter steeled himself with a deep breath and smiled up at Gideon. ”Thank you for that… I know I’m not… um. Well, I know I’m not much. But I felt really special… So, thank you.”

● the Captain's Deck ● mischievous ● with Esme __________________ ___ _ Despite being so aware of Esme's innocence, he found himself completely caught off guard when the young man admitted that Gideon had been his first kiss. It seemed so obvious and yet, when said aloud, sounded ridiculous. What's more, Esme needed almost a full drink of water to admit it, too. The sangria haired man's eyes widened at the confession and subsequent statement. He didn't doubt his kissing skils. Hundreds of years of practice had made him pretty good. The blue haired boy was simply being so...forward. Gideon liked it.
After a deep breath, Esme let out another surprise. The boy was just full of them today, wasn't he? Gideon refilled his coworker's glass and pressed his lips together, thinking of how to answer. The boy looked nervous, but that smile of his was so darling. "You don't have to thank me, Esme. Not you. Never you, love." He pat his friend on the head gently, feeling this was the only appropriate action for this moment. "You mean a lot to very many people. Including me. Don't put yourself down. And even if you still decide to, I'll be here to continue making you feel special, because you are, and you deserve to know that." The Spaniard once more offered that kind smile of his, kissing the top of Esme's head.
This was beginning to get difficult for Gideon. When first meeting Esme, he had not expected the boy to give him such a run for his money in the way that he did. The blue haired waiter was so cute and dainty...Despite Gideon being used to such things, he still managed to become surprised. Perhaps it was Esme's strong morality and sense of innocence. Nevertheless, he held onto the boy's company. Gideon didn't see it becoming a nuisance anytime soon. He could only see himself benefiting from it for now.

╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.- Aldous Huxley ╚═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝
It was hard for Esme to admit to just how inexperienced he was, even when it seemed to him that it must be obvious to anyone. Twenty two years and he had not been kissed before last night. It was embarrassing and it made him feel a little like a child, but he wanted Gideon to know. He wanted the man to know that it was his first and also that he was happy about it. He did not think he could have asked for a better first kiss than that. But actually saying the words aloud was difficult and he was a little surprised that he had managed it. But he was glad that he had. Esme wasn’t really sure why it was important to him, but it really did mean a lot to him that Gideon understood it all.
And it was important to him that Gideon knew that he was grateful. He knew that he was not very attractive and he certainly wasn’t at all seductive, so he could not even imagine why Gideon would kiss him. But the sangria haired male surprised him again, this time by saying that Esme didn’t need to thank him. And Gideon did not just say it; he said it in a way that made it seem silly to question it. And once again he was making Esme feel special, arguably more so than before. Esme wouldn’t have expected Gideon to boost his self esteem so much. Was he really that special? Gideon certainly sounded like he believed it and it was hard to argue with the man when he smiled so kindly and spoke this way. It was not his seductive tone of voice; Gideon was being his friend.
Esme’s cheeks were still faintly pink, but the embarrassment had died down quite a bit by the time Gideon kissed the top of his head. He was still the handsome, incredibly charming man that had Esme so flustered he couldn’t speak, but he was also a good friend and right now he was being more of the latter. ”Well, still… thank you. I’m lucky to have met someone as nice as you.” Esme plucked up a bit of courage and stood on his toes to give Gideon a kiss. On his cheek. With that, Esme took a small step back and beamed up at Gideon, pleased with himself even if the platonic little kiss had still made him feel a little shy again.

● the Captain's Deck ● content ● with Esme __________________ ___ _ "I'm flattered you think that, Esme. Thank you." Another kiss was placed atop Esme's temple shortly after the boy kissed Gideon on the cheek, thinking the action very sweet if not extremely brave. Gideon could've very well turned his head on the boy to engage in a quick peck on the mouth, but seeing how Esme got with kisses on the lips in the first place, the notion was turned down. All of these experiences were conducted with Gideon leaning over the bar counter at an acute angle. Esme was so short that he realistically had no choice. The Spaniard was almost a full foot taller than the blue haired boy.
He turned to look back at the liquor selection, reaching for some bottles to inspect exactly how much was left in some of them. As he sorted their vodkas, his thoughts went back to Esme. The sangria haired male wasn't the type of person to take advantage of people. He was lazy and most definitely preferred the easy way out, but did not take advantage of others. Well...not immediately, anyway. It was interesting to see how contorted he turned when a person showed him they had feelings that wouldn't go away. When that person was persistent. If it meant lying to them in order to get a lay, or using them to show someone else his dark side, then he would use them. It was only when push came to shove that he turned into that type of person.
If Gideon had a healthy conscious, he would've called that his worst quality. He didn't show all his cards in the beginning. This was something any person would know when meeting someone new. Their temperament at that moment would not be their temperament for all eternity. In everyone's mind, eventually, is the thought, 'are they telling me everything?' Perhaps, even, 'what are they hiding from me'? Gideon hid very little from people. He was open about his parent's death, rough childhood, adolescence, and vagabond ways. No one could see into the depths of his cracked soul. It wasn't anything anyone could fix, or could call upon him to let out. That wasn't realistic and it certainly didn't happen with anyone.
Gideon wasn't a fragile little child who could break down in front of a person. He had deep seeded problems that could never be coaxed away by tears or pleads. He put the vodka back on the shelves and cast another glance Esme's way. Gideon told himself that if someone fell in love, nothing would bring him back. It was painful to do that every time. To leave and forget wonderful moments, and a possible future. But in truth, he liked the pain. Because he thought he deserved it.

"If dreams can't come true, then why not pretend?"
Hazel was running a bit late, well late for her standards. But she manged to get up and get in her work uniform looking pretty nice she thought. Her hair down and nude light makeup. Worry began to wash over her if she was going to be late. She was usually an early riser, a morning person but this morning however she felt like she was made of lead. Was she catching a cold? She took some cold medicine she had brought with her and got an orange juice box from her home. 'I need to go shopping soon..' She thought to herself, most food she had currently was dry and frozen foods. She usually had much more fresh foods.
She entered the bar to notice Esme and Gideon already there, so far she grew to like them the most. Esme seemed quite caring of others and how others are treated. She respected that, Gideon well...he was just so relaxed all the time she couldn't help but wonder how he does it. She smiled to the two "Good Morning!" Hazel greeted cheerfully.
╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.- Aldous Huxley ╚═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝
It took about as much bravery as Esme had to place the chaste kiss on Gideon’s cheek, but he had wanted to. The man was being so very nice to him. And the waiter was surprised to find that he felt much more comfortable around the bartender after opening up a bit and saying what he felt. Esme felt lighter and he all but skipped out from behind the bar, turning to give Gideon one more smile. Of course that was a mistake to do and he tripped over a stool as he was rounding the countertop. Fortunately he caught his balance before he could topple to the floor. The waiter rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly and was about to scurry off when he heard the front door open.
Esme turned, then smiled brightly to see Hazel had arrived. ”Good morning, Hazel!” the waiter chimed brightly. Had she seen him trip over the stool? Would she laugh if she did? Esme decided that either way was alright; Hazel was such a nice person that he knew she wouldn’t mean anything by it anyway. She was the person he was the most comfortable around so far. Esme almost thought she could be like a sister, but he was honestly getting along with Hazel better than he generally got along with either of his sisters. ”How are you today? You are looking well.”
Esme stepped closer to his fellow waiter with a smile on his face. He almost wanted to tell her… but what was there to tell? She probably wouldn’t think it was all that exciting; it was just a kiss, right? But it was one of the most exciting things to happen to Esme in… ever. Oh, wow… he was boring! Maybe he shouldn’t tell Hazel about it after all; she really might laugh at him if he made a big deal out of being kissed. After all, he didn’t have a doubt that such a pretty girl had been kissed a lot more than once. Well, not a lot in a bad way, but… definitely more than once, he felt sure!
Feeling quite cheerful, Esme was completely unaware of the thoughts that clouded Gideon’s mind. He was naïve and a little gullible, perhaps, but he honestly never even imagined Gideon taking advantage of him or anyone. The man had been too nice to him for Esme to think something like that of him. He knew that he didn’t know Gideon very well, but that was still what he believed. He did not even try to think about what would happen if he fell for the sinfully tempting man more than he had already started to; even Esme knew that was dangerous ground. He was happy to be Gideon’s coworker, friend and… well, someone he might even kiss again? He wouldn’t let his thoughts get more complicated than that, if he could help it.

● the Captain's Deck ● content ● with Esme and Hazel__________________ ___ _ "Buenos dias, amiga." Gideon greeted Hazel happily, giving a customary wink and wave. Luckily he hadn't noticed Esme's little trip, being too preoccupied with checking the drinks. "Would you all happen to have Tsukasa's personal number? I need to let him know about some basic necessities. Kitchen needs to be restocked, too." He pulled out a piece of paper that would serve as an inventory list to document all of the things they were missing. To start off, they needed more Gin. Plenty of the expensive kind, not very much of the cheap. Tomato juice, herbs, and fruits were a constant necessity. Much to Gideon's pleasure, despite this job requiring a bit of work in-house, when he went home, he didn't have a single worry in the world. Gideon didn't have to come in early, and he certainly could've changed his schedule if needed. The man recalled being told that Alex worked as a bartender, too. He was curious to know if the man had it laid back as much as Gideon did. Remembering Alexander's demeanor from the party and his overall chill-ness, the Spaniard would've guessed yes.
There were a bunch of people's numbers he needed to attain for purposes of convenience. If Gideon felt like going out to eat and being a nice person, texting someone to ask if they wanted to chow down late at night was the perfect opportunity to do that. Though he supposed all would come in due time. The sangria haired male had only been working here about a week, after all. Once the paper had been sufficiently filled out with details of the items the bar needed, he found a piece of tape in a cupboard and attached it to Tsukasa's office door to make sure he saw it after finding and filling out the kitchen list, too.
Returning to his spot behind the counter, the register was checked, money and change accounted for. Once all was said and done, Gideon washed the glass Esme drank out of, picked up his newest book and began reading while leaning his pelvis against the corner ledge.

"If dreams can't come true, then why not pretend?"
Hazel placed her stuff in her cubby in the back but she brought her phone with her just incase. It rested in her back pocket, walking back out she sat down on one of the bar stools since it didn't seem too busy. She was prepared though to spring into action to work. She decided to make some small talk with Esme, since Gideon seemed a bit occupied with his book and she didn't want to intrud. She looked over to the blue haired boy. "So, what's new in the life of Esme?" She asked with a smile.

"Oh, I'm sorry... I don't have any of your phone numbers." Esme replied apologetically to Gideon's question. Hazel returned from the back and sat on a bar stool. It wasn’t busy yet, so Esme moved closer to her, sitting on a nearby barstool. She asked what was new in his life… and Esme immediately blushed. He had only just decided that he really shouldn’t tell Hazel about the biggest new thing to happen to him and so he fumbled for a response. ”Oh, well I… Well, nothing really! Um…” Esme was a terrible liar and he glanced at Gideon before looking away, his face getting redder. It was definitely not nothing, especially not to him. ”No, um… what I really mean is I’d rather talk about you. Yes, so… what’s new for you, Hazel?” Esme tucked a few strands of hair behind his ear and dropped his gaze with a sheepish smile on his face.
Silvia walked in to Captain's Deck and noticed it wasn't so busy. She shrugged her shoulder and slipped her coat off while looking to see if she knew anyone in the place. She spotted Esme and Hazel talking to each other then Gideon standing off with a book. She gave a smirk seeing the little group since they were a nice bunch but her smirk slightly dropped when she didn't see Zara here which she was used to seeing. When noticing that Tsukasa wasn't visible she figured that him not being here would be a good reason why Zara wasn't there. A smirk appeared on her face once more while she waved over to Hazel and Esme if they looked up at her during their conversation. She made her way down to Gideon and laid her jacket on a stool. Sitting down next to it she looked him over and took in the view. She liked how his shirt fit on him and really made his skin tone pop. She had wished she could see lower on how his pants fit him but she would wait maybe he would have more customers to help later. Sitting down she let out a relaxed sigh then gave Gideon a smile. "Bonsoir, beau," she greeted him in French and called him handsome, "been trying to come down here for a drink for the past few days." She rested her hands on the bar and looked around to see if they had a menu not spotting one she came up with an idea. Looking up at Gideon, "Can I get the best drink you can make?" She was building her nerve up a bit since she wanted to give Gideon a proposition. She looked over to see if maybe Hazel and Esme would be heading over to join them. She hoped for a few minutes that they wouldn't do so since she didn't want to share what she was just yet. She knew they were humans and she didn't want to scare them away since hearing Succubus they automatically thought soul sucking demon. Sure it was true but that's not all she was there was more to her being a sucubuss. Maybe she would wait till she got that drink to ask him it wasn't like she didn't have all night to bring it up. Plus why loose the opportunity of looking at him since he was nice to look at even if he was just standing there. She leaned forward a bit to look at the book he was reading. "Something good?"
