This time, the cheshire cat's riddle was somewhat easier for dotdotdot. "What is flat but sharp at the edges?"
Dotdotdot knew the answer to this one. "Is it a blade of some sort?"

He stood then a few minutes, the cat watching him curiously, waiting for it's chance. Something so clever even a riddler of riddlers wouldn't guess it? Not because he wanted treasure of course.
He just wanted to win.
After some time passed he finally smiled, staring at the creature curiously. "What is always unique, but never changing?" He inquired, watching the cat frown a bit before before sitting there to think, musing heavily on the words.
Finally chancing a guess. "Life?' To which a firm smile was offered. "Close, but that changes. Time does not. There will always be minutes and seconds, but each instant of it is different for a single person." There was an evident tone of triumph in his voice as the cat seemed to hunker down a bit, admitting it's defeat before offering up the prize a bit unhappily.
Thankfully enough, it did leave something nice. A card and even a pot of experience. As there was that happy little ding as the number above his head went up. Dotdotdot asked the cat "What can run but never walks, has a mouth but never talks, has a head but never weeps, has a bed but never sleeps?" It seemed to be stumped, and dotdotdot really hoped it was because she didn't think she would be able to come up with another riddle. Finally, it gave up and guessed. But it was wrong. Dotdotdot understood the joy of stumping someone as she said "a river".

Rhythm continued to wander around the forest for a while after completing the quest. Cheshire cat huh? Interesting, and it wanted to play a game of riddles? Well at least there was a prize if she won. "Very well, lets play" She responded watching as the cat faded in and out. Hmm what can you hide but never lose? Her twin came to mind, he all ways seemed to pop up when ever she went anywhere while awake. Of course not everyone had a twin so that was out. Hmm there where a lot of things, it could be looks or personality? You tried to hide it but the true you still shows? Or maybe light, no matter how hard you try to hid or put it out there will still be lights in the sky. On the flip side you had darkness, Without light there was darkness everywhere and even when you did have light there where still shadows. There where shadows during the night too, on the moon for instance. That sounded like a good guess. "Shadows?" She responded to the tree. She wasn't really paying much attention to the people around her who where also doing riddles with the Cheshire Cat, but she did hear someone asking where she was. "I'm right here!" She called back before realizing that she had just responded to her real name and not the virtual one. Which meant that they where probably looking for someone else, and would thing she was an idiot or something since her name seemed like it was not even close to what was called out. Oops, well at least this was a dream right? Not like any one in it was real or anything. "...What's black when you get it, red when you use it... and white when you--" Charcoal. It said easily, interrupting her before she could finish. Oh no he didn't. No one humiliated her. No one. She pointed at him. "...One more try. And then I won't bother you... until tomorrow." She said with narrowed eyes. "Just one more..." With the roll of its eyes, the Cheshire began to ask one final question, eyes trained on the young girls steely gaze...

Jumping up onto her feet, she looked around for a bit, trying to locate said individual when she finally managed to spot the barely visible cat that wore a smug expression on its face. "Why hello there. I was actually thinking of sitting down right here to rest my feet when you almost gave me a little scare there." She admitted sheepishly then gave a nod to oblige the Cheshire Cat's request for a little game.
Lifting a finger to tap lightly on her cheek, she was silent for a few seconds when it posed its question then smiled wide as she gave her answer. "That's simple. That will be a knife."

SugarPuss was pretty sure that she had the answer in the bag and grinned from ear to ear when the Cheshire Cat start to purr and mutter something about its posed question being too simple and almost not a riddle at all. "You had your turn so here's my question." She paused for a bit then settled for something that she managed to come up with on the fly.
"Why did the boy bury his flashlight?"
For a very long while, there was nothing but silence. The Cheshire Cat continued fading in and out at random, the smug look it wore still plastered firmly in place. "... because it wasn't working and therefore was of no use to him." It hazarded a guess in the end.
"Close but not exactly since the answer should be because its batteries have died."
Defeated, the Cheshire Cat curled its tail around the branch, bristling and looking almost as if it was about to throw a hissy fit at being thwarted at its own game. "A surprising twist, but I love surprises. You are quite the clever one, and for that, you deserve a small prize. Just this time, of course, just once." It finally admitted then poofed after leaving behind a small treasure chest as promised.

A certain canine tank of sorts had wandered away from a land of cake and treats toward the tree line once more, rather pleased with his agreement he had come to with himself. Protecting people was good. They both liked that concept.
He might have just started laughing to himself at the little adventures he started to come up with in his head(for he was a grand adventurer) when he heard the voice of something. In the direction of a tree no less.
He quickly looked to it and stopped, tilting his head a bit.
...there was not face. Further up finally showed him his companion. A cat that was coming down to a lower branch as it spoke of riddles and stories. "I would love a story!" Though... it started instead back to riddles. Nope. No story time apparently. Still, it seemed rather interesting as he listened to it speak, smiling as he waited for a turn to see if he could figure it out.
It had mentioned a prize after all!
"What kind of plant grows but never dies?"
To which he got the most blank stare of all. What kind of plant...? "They all do?" The answer came a bit too quickly. Because all plants grew up again and again right? The cheshire seemed amused with him, it's head shaking as it corrected him. "The answer is poison, thick and prevalent in the heart, it will poison a soul for eternity and then move to the next."
One could visibly see the 'oh' on tufffluff's face as he stared at the thing. "I... guess that is right." Yea, it was definitely a bad thing. Why would he make such a bad riddle? "I hope that does not happen." Because yea, that wasn't pleasant.
The thing didn't seem too concerned and instead started on about it being his turn. Couldn't he come up with such a clever riddle though..? Pinkie skipped after Wiz, but they somehow got separated. Ah, well, she figured she could find her later. And then they would collect all the samples! She giggled a bit, thinking Wiz was funny about her samples, but it was also pretty fun. "Hello," says the tree, "Have you come for a story?" The tree smiles, or rather, the space above the tree, just at the very nook, above one of the signs, to the left over the overhanging branch. "Are you here for a story or a riddle?"Oh, yay! Another talking tree! "I'd like a riddle, please!" she said and smiled. And then the grin appeared, followed by a cat! Or, well, half of a cat anyway. She really wanted to try petting it, but it was far too high for her to reach. It was giving her the riddle now anyway. "What has three legs but only uses one?" She blinked, completely confused. The riddle made absolutely no sense to her... Three legs, but only uses one? Huh? She chewed her lip in thought, pink brows furrowed as she racked her brain for the answer. When, twenty minutes later, she was still standing there and no closer to an answer, she shrugged. "I dunno....a three legged dog with one of those wheelchair contraptions on the back end?" Yeah, that was totally it. Not. "That so doesn't make any sense," she grumbled a bit. He really had to think about it. How could he make it hard to guess? The creature watched him in silence as he thought before finally perking as he opened his mouth.
"W-what does not speak... but is always heard?" He tilted his head a bit as the cats paws curled around the branch in though, the think musing a few minutes.
'The wind.' It looked less than pleased when the canine shook his head, a slightly confident smile on his face as he lifted a hand to his chest. "The heart." Because in his opinion the statement was very true. The cheshire didn't seem the most pleased with it, but it merely nodded before calling him clever. It was then he was offered up a small prize, a ding along with a new card as the cat scampered off saying it was just for this ONCE.

It took him 2 seconds more than normal for him to respond. "A mountain. He said. OCTOPU55Y fumed. SHE WAS GOING TO DO THIS. "I'm sure you could ask me one more. Just one... One won't hurt..." She tried her best at convincing... and it paid off! The cat said one more, just one last one...

SLC moved through the forests, agitated with herself, with everything. She took a deep breath when she saw a wicked smile floating above her. The cat faded into view and smiled even broader. "You may call me a Cheshire cat," it begins, fading in and out of sight at random will, "but just one of many. We reside here you see. This is a nice place, and we so very much do enjoy a good riddle. Let us play a small game, if you will so indulge me. I'll give you something nice of course in return. All right, here goes the riddle" "Wait!" She cried out and the cat flipped over itself to look at her upside down. "There are more of you?" But the cat ignored her anyways. "What turns around and around and around but quite rather slowly?" "The earth?" SLC asked unconfidently. Thoroughly happy at your answer, right or wrong, the cat purrs. "All right, now it is your turn. Ask me a riddle, and give me a second to think. If I guess right however, I win. If I don't guess right, then you win, and I will give you my treasure. Come now, ask me anything. A riddle is as good as a story." "You didn't tell me if I was right?" But the cat just looked at her, waiting for her to answer.
