King couldn't hope to match the weight strength of Matt Shanahan against his own, even this far into the match. He fought, though, tooth and nail for each step that he relinquished to Shanahan until the God of Punks had the Man That Time Forgot in his corner.

Once King's back was firm against the corner, he knew he had him pinned down in a tough spot. Seeking to capitalize, Shanahan pushed off of 2.0 to put a step between them. A mighty, yet hoarse roar erupted from his lips as he flew forward, aiming to smash his elbow right into King's jaw!

King was hit by the elbow to the face and it forced him to turn with it and drape his arms across the top rope, which was lucky because if he hadn't, he likely would have fallen over.

Shanahan stumbled back a few steps after impact; not out of will, merely out of exhaustion. He took a moment to wipe his forehead away, even though the blood had dried into place by now, before attempting to grab King and throw him back into the turnbuckle. If successful, he'd try to roughly lift the man up onto the top one!

2.0 was a little mumbly, being lifted up onto the top rope like no one's business. He tried to throw some punches Matt's way, but they were more like love taps at that point, being brought up to the top rope with little incident.

The tapping against Shanahan's face did little but anger the massive God of Punks. He grabbed hold of King's head and attempted to slam his right fist into his forehead; if successful, he would step up onto the middle rope and attempt to yank 2.0's head underneath his arm to execute a suplex position...

King was pulled up onto the top rope in suplex position. He was trying not to shake and make them BOTH tumble off the top, and instead tried to turn it into a match for his advantage. King struggled and punched Matt in the ribs!

The punches were connecting, but to stop them would risk backtracking; he had no time for backtracking. Managing to fight through the pain, he attempted to lift Kelly King vertical into the air, the only thing stopping them from falling being Matt's balance and strength. If successful, he would spin and practically collapse to the side, aiming to pull off a finisher he hadn't used in many years: the Seventh Act, effectively driving King's forehead into the turnbuckle for a modified, dangerous brainbuster!

2.0 was lifted and his world turned upside down. For the moment that his feet were in the air, the kicked slowly, as though time had slowed down, until he fell down head first on the turnbuckle. He bounced off that turnbuckle, toppling over the rope and down onto the apron of the ring, nearly falling off, with his hand gripping the bottom rope.

Much like King, Matt fell down afterwards. His back collided hard with the mats from falling off of the middle rope, causing jolts of pain to shoot up his spine. His crimson-masked face was a tale of anguish and suffering, but nothing was over yet. It took him a few moments to recover, but he managed to do so before King could risk falling off the apron. With both arms, he attempted to haul the man under the bottom rope and back into the ring. If successful, he'd go for the pin to end this war.

2.0 was hard to pull into the ring, his fingers still clinging to the bottom rope as Matt pulled him in. The referee wouldn't start the count until Matt had him fully inside the ring, and the Matt was on top of him.
One! Two! Thre-- NO!
Kelly King rolled his shoulder up off the mat at the last second. The first pinfall of the match had failed.

The fans let out the loudest cheers of joy that the arena would hear that night; King was managing to survive. Matt's face looked to be in pure disbelief for a split moment; then, the realization of just who he was facing kicked in. The Godfather of Professional Wrestling. A tight scowl ripped across his lips as he pushed himself up, taking a moment to catch his breath against the ropes once he was on his feet. The arena was alive with "KELLY KING!" chants, but Shanahan couldn't hear them. To him, the arena was empty right now; it was the open battlefield for him and King.

King was in another world. Reading from a different book than these fans or Matt Shanahan. Pure instinct is what drug his shoulder off the mat, not wherewithal or stratagem. King just lay on the mat, gasping for air, surprised as anyone else that the match was still going. He rolled over onto his stomach, slowly trying to stand up.

Matt stayed against the ropes for a long moment. If the Seventh Act couldn't put King away, maybe he needed to be worn down a bit more... A bit longer. His rage and waning adrenaline were all that pushed him off the ropes and forced him to turn to King. Right as King began to stand, Shanahan stalked behind him and attempted to rip his arms backwards and upward; what was he going for? The Full Nelson.

King was pulled up off the mat and locked into a full nelson! The man was bigger than him, but 2.0 would readily argue he wasn't smarter. 2.0 was more intelligent, if not in every way than at LEAST in the ways of technical wrestling. And love making. But that's neither here nor there. As Matt locked in that full nelson, 2.0 was put in and immediately started to struggle. It hurt, it was painful, but King countered; He bent his arms completely upward so that he would drop down and out of Matt's unready grasp, landing on his knee and then suddenly standing, flipping around and putting Matt's arm over his shoulder. Matt might expect the 2.0ver, but that's not what he went for. Instead, he hooked Matt's leg, bent forward and then suddenly tried to drop back, going for the first finisher he ever had in professional wrestling; the Flatliner! (Reverse STO.)
