Candace blinked. "I c'n still be yer view." She brought her legs up to snuggle comfortably on Tuck's lap against his chest. She had promised Rep she'd keep the PDA to a minimum, he should've asked Jerry and Tuck's sister that.

"I might, I ain't got nothin'--er...I don't have anything to hide." She cleared her throat and sat up a little straighter. The drink was finally starting to hit her. "Do I think you're pretty? I think I had to assure Rep he was pretty the other day. It's no big~."

"What if I asked you if you wanted to get outta here with me?"

Huge grin. Dimples for miles.

"Candygirl, I'm kinna drunk so my ears might be wrong, but I swear to s**t I hear an accent."

The grin grew toothier.

"What else you hidin'?"

"When the party dwindles down, sweet cheeks. I promised 'kota I'd make sure no one set his room on fire or blew it into itsy bitsy pieces." Candace gave him a pat on the shoulder and made a most displeased face at his accusation.

"Nope. I don't hide s**t. I'm a very honest and up front person."

Rep heard his name mentioned and glanced over at Candace - anywhere but at ******** Jerry and whatever he was up to right now. She didn't seem to be addressing him though.

He'd lost track of how much he'd had to drink. He still had hardly made even a dent in the stash Dakota had accumulated. He rested his head on the table while the room spun. His alcohol tolerance was completely ********, and for some reason that made him very angry.

He probably should have drank some water.

A crooked smile crept across Mimsy's lips as she realized where the 'truth totem' had just been passed. This could be even more interesting than the disaster she'd just been witness to. When there was a lull in the barrage of inquiries, she filled the silence with her own observation.

"Why do you place such emphasis on hiding behind the name of science? I have gathered more evidence to suggest that you prefer to..." She made a face and steadied herself again. "...sustain what appears to be some variety of a fetish for discomfort than work towards a legitimate pursuit of knowledge. Surely you have discovered the reputation that Life has earned over time - why continue to tarnish it?"

Not anything more than a curiosity, but any more personal questions were of no interest to her.

It was Tuck's turn to pout.

"That means I gotta watch my sister make out with dude over there. s**t suuuuuuuucks. We can come back later?"

He looked hopeful.

Melvin looked over at the Tuck, someone he didn't know or had ever met, but had seemed to just want to ask basic body questions. He thought about it, glanced at Candace and then Rin, and shrugged. "It's ..nice. Not ridiculously huge where you could put a platter on it and not a board." He answered, noticing that he did answer with an agreement, but also a slight elaboration. The ring wasn't just straight answers and just answers but wiggled a bit in your mind to spur you to gab. The bad thing was, Melvin liked talking and details. If he was so specific with questions, he felt worried about his answers.

When he heard Jordan, he steeled himself best he could. He knew that Jordan would probably say the hardest questions.

Avoidance. He couldn't pretend anymore, but Jordan also admitted why he ran off. Pressing his lips thing as if he could hold the answer back, he began. "The moment you said you studied psychology, I wanted nothing to do with you. I hate shrinks and everything to do with them. I knew you were observant and your desire to make a office to offer guidance and security to other hunters felt like you wanted to start your own practice and I'm not about to become a patient. I've had enough shrinks in my time that I don't need one here. I also think you knew the answer when you came to see me before because, like you said, you aren't stupid. "

He took a breather. He rarely ever said the truth so openly that if felt physically draining and weak. There was no control here. No way to keep himself from saying too much.

At the next question, he continued. "I never force people to answer my questions. I do continue because I like knowing everything I can to better understand who they are. Someone can always tell me to ******** off, lie, or just keep quiet. I think everyone wants to figure everyone out. I just don't care about being too polite with asking stupid questions like how is the weather when everyone at their very core just wants to ask what's really on their mind. Even if my life wasn't short, I want to get the most out of my time with people. I don't want to spend forever waiting to ask what I could have said ages ago in hopes of waiting for some perfect moment it would be socially acceptable to say it because who gives a damn about manners when people ask other questions when they deem they themselves know what's best."

He felt strained, a low heat boiling his system. "I learned from shrinks that asking questions lets you figure out people a lot faster than twiddling thumbs waiting for a polite time to say something you need to know." So what now? Congrats on everyone knowing he was a tad crazy growing up.

"Sometimes it's painful and uncomfortable not asking questions, and I learned too many times it's worse to be comfortable in a group of liars."

Candace blinked. They could come back later? Her alcohol riddled brain told her this was perfectly reasonable. She looked around to see if Dakota would notice her gone. Oh, he was over there...

...He'd be fiiiiiine.

"Mmm..fine. S'long as come back later." She climbed off Tuck's lap, straightening out her clothes and waiting for Tuck to join her. It had been a long time since Candace had drank this much alcohol in one sitting. "My room's down the hall. I'm not going down any ******** stairs."

"Why do you think nobody likes you?"

Melvin glanced at Rep, really not wanting to talk to him. "You think I'm not observant? I can tell when people rather I leave than hang around. Not the first time I ran someone off." Mia came to mind.

"The reason WHY I think it is because people get upset when I'm around them. Jerry jumped out of a window to get away from me, and you'd rather Rin be destroyed than have anything to do with me. I've been called an a*****e plenty of times by many people. I think that explains why."

Jordan eyed Melvin thoughtfully. "Are you lonely? Would you rather have information than connect with people?"

Rin still looked worried about other goings on... but she had a few questions of her own for Melvin.

"Do... do you trust me, Melvin?"
PostPosted: Mon May 20, 2013 5:09 pm

Rep opened his eyes blearily and looked over at Melvin as he replied. "So ******** hung up on that Rin s**t. And that's no why you think that, that's ...the ******** thingssh people do that make you suspect that they don't like you and whatever." If he'd had the energy he would have pinned it down to what Melvin thought was wrong with him, a self critical analysis of his flaws. But that was a lot of ******** words for a guy as drunk as he was.

"Never bloody mind."

That question made him stiffen, one gloved hand touching his bare hand and fingers placed over the ring. It was time to work taking it off as he knew that it had been reluctant before to come off previous hands. Best to start wiggling it off now, not that the heavy questions were already spoken.

Are you lonely?

He swallowed.

Would you rather have information than connect with people?

"Everyone's lonely." He remembered sitting in his room, the lights on in the middle of the night, knowing this when he was 12. "I need to know a person to find out who they are. I need to ask questions to find that out. If not, then how does anyone else even connect? You talk to find out about people to see if you can trust them with you, just like people have asked me questions to find out about who I was." Ever since he started seeing his own therapist who just asked and asked and asked to figure him out. "No one ever really gets a person so everyone will always be lonely in one way or another."

The ring felt like it was humming in his system, rejecting the answer as an answer. It felt like his own mind screaming when he needed to wash his hands. A need that had to be met to breath again.

He tugged on the ring more.

"I'd rather have information and feel safe."

Are you lonely.

The answer twisted his throat tight. It was such a stupid answer too.

"Yes." He took a breath, visibly shaken as he tugged on the ring.

Lucky had gotten sufficiently inebriated, and was becoming more sensitive to the negative vibe in the room. They all needed to lighten up. Hey... he knew a good game...

Mentally he leaned on his weapon like a crutch, stumbling for the words and slurring them in a heavy accent.

"Kill, ********, marry," Lucky held up three fingers, one at a time. "Anyone on island. And shhay who is vhat!"

The question by Rin had him turning to look at her, and he wondered for a second if he trusted Rin to the extent she might be asking.

"I trust you to keep my secrets and not to say a word about it." That was it. Nothing more.
