Raven would smirk...never a good sign for his opponent. "Genn, counter with Ice Fang, make her cold your own!" The young trainer commanded. It was a tricky thing to pull off, but it would be well worth it if it managed to succeed. Both would the Skarmory like the sting of her own temperature drop?
">GWAHAAHA! Birdsicle time!<" Genn shouted gleefully as mist began to flow from his mouth with very breath, his molars beginning to coat with ice, building until his teeth had turned to wicked fangs. Massive maw opened wide the Steelix would lunge forth, straight at his opponent with the intent of both crushing AND freezing her....least if he could help it!

The dive was stupid, and she would only realize it once those huge fangs caught a hold of her. The cold would threaten to steep into her bones as she flap furiously to get away ...as the cold wings would blow, and she would find herself trapped in it's maw.
It was her thick armor that protect her ...as she scream loudly.
"Sarah?"
Her trainer called in a high pitch worried voice. Unlike the heated battles from before, this cold battle had people watching with interest despite the cold. The fact that a few were shivering as they looked from one place to another wondering how this match was going to end.
A small chipping away of strength, eventually one of these metal titans would fall.
The announcer calls happily.
A few feathers in the end would be lost as she manages to pull away as she breathes heavily. That had been a very close attack ...a very close attack as she shiver in her metal feathers.
"We got to be careful, that snake is fast."
Sapphire hisses as she glares at Raven. This was indeed a much better match than she thought it would be.

Opposite his opponent, Raven didn't even bother looking the woman's way. She was little concern to him in legitimate honesty, this was an official tournament where the battle was held between their Pokemon. It was the Skarmory he needed to watch; and as the child clucked his tongue it was clear he was a bit miffed himself. Not because of any worry related to this fight, but rather that Genn had failed to make better use of such a magnificent opportunity.
"Genn use Ice Fang again. Show her why birds fly south!" In light of the Skarmory's tremendous defensive capabilities it was clear their best chance was to freeze the Skarmory solid before smashing her into tiny bits with a particularly large rock.
Chuckling faintly, Genn's entire body would rumble. Allowing the ice to melt in his mouth he'd begin do something rather odd...and perhaps a bit crude. Gathering the water created by the ice under his tongue, the Steelix would inhale, sucking it into the center of his mouth, before spitting at the Skarmory. Conveniently as his species lacked snot it wasn't a loogie, but the projectile was assuredly no less disgusting. When the Skarmory moved to avoid it Genn would strike, mouth opened wide, icicles developing quickly as he once more attempted to turn the Skarmory into a bite sized frozen treat!

The Skarmory would twirl out of the way of the attack ...thinking that the worst was over. She never saw it coming, those jaws as they would strike at her unprotected underbelly .....that gaping mouth that threaten to swallow her whole.
"UP!"
It was only the swift command of her trainer that got Sarah out of danger as she would power upwards without a second thought. The pokemon's icy teeth would scrap her sides as manages to get out of by the sheen of her feathers. She would float higher as she felt her side heave ...the screeching sound of metal as she escape made it clear how close it was if the specutators blinked.
She would circle once ..breathing hard.
"Dammit it ...we haven't managed a single hit so far."
Her Trainer would lose her manners a moment before she shouted out.
"Use Icy Wind."
There was no sense in coming in striking range this time as she flaps her wings hard. She would send down a swirling mass of ice ....as the wind became colder and colder.
"This is definitely a winter match."
The commentator would chuckle lightly at the two pokemon's display of ice moves ....back to back.

Raven audibly groaned in time with the commentary. That was just awful. This guy had to be new, nearly retired, or just terrible. Perhaps two of the three. As for any actual commands...now wasn't the time for them. Genn was more then capable of defending himself at a time like this, and it was clear to Raven they needed to re-access their strategy. It may be necessary to make the audience's ears bleed.
Tapping the end of his spaded tail upon the ground Genn would just twist his neck one way, followed by the other. Yup typical of a rock, or in this cast an elongated lump of steel, the Pokemon wasn't really planning on moving. It was just the wind after all.

She would fail in her attack ....her icy wind would hit hard, but it wasn't enough to get through that metal skin as she would screech again. Her anger was clear as she looked downwards at her opponent ...the only one she couldn't even scratch.
This was truly going to be a long battle.
Sapphire was pissed, but she would simply hold onto her anger. It was time ....they needed to stay one step away from their opponent otherwise they would be driven into the ground. That pokemon wasn't anything to mis-step with, and thus, she would give another command.
"GO up as high as possible. We are going to stay out of their range."
She would declare sharply.

"That won't do you any good" Raven commented, actually managing a smirk as he inserted his fingers into his ears. With an action like that it didn't take a genius to figure out where this was going "GENN USE SCREECH!" Bashing away at the Skarmory hadn't been working, so it was time to take things from a different angle!
Rearing back the massive Steelix would close his mouth tight, inhaling deeply through his nostrils. Oh this was going to be good. When that gigantic maw opened back up it would be to release a piercing scream, one which rapidly grew in pitch. If the Skarmory's ears didn't bleed she'd be lucky!

Though sound travels only so far, and as the Skamory went up and up ....she would literally out fly the attack. The pokemon would twirl as she laughs at the fail attempt before she would come plummeting back down. She was bring more than just herself in that fall as she drags a current of freezing cold air.
This time, she was going to chip past that pokemon's steely skin and cause the damage that she knew ...he deserve. That was her promise as she fell and as she came at him with the full Icy blast of Icy Wind.

A glint, like a spark from flint would appear in Raven's eye as the Screech failed and the Skarmory went on the offensive...providing him the perfect opportunity. "Genn play catch with Ice Fang!" The boy ordered, pointing in the direction of the oncoming Skarmory with a touch of dramatic flare.
">Hehehe<" Genn chuckled like a school boy upon hearing the order, his mirth clear as his entire body rumbled ">GWAAHAHAAHAHA! Now we're talking!<" The Steelix bellowed, slamming his tail tip against the ground as if clapping before throwing himself forward. Heaving big frosty breaths, Genn would open his mouth wide as ice coated his teeth. Following the position of the falling Skarmory as best he could, the Steelix would utter a garbled ">I've got it! I've got it!<" Like a left fielder on an eighth grade baseball team. Attacking via a sharp descent could very well prove to be a poor decision on the part of their opponent~!

It would finally happen ....teeth would grab ahold as the bird would scream as metal started to be dented inwards ...as blood leaked down the sides of the Skamory's side. The pokemon was caught, and if that wasn't bad enough ...those snapping jaws would start to enclose the pokemon in ice. This attack had gone from bad to worst as she tries to curl in on herself. She tries to defend herself as best she could as the ice becomes all consuming to the point that she disappear within.
"SARAH!"
Sapphire screamed loudly.
This battle had taken a much more dangerous turn.

Exactly as Raven had hoped, the Skarmory was now left defenceless in a full block of ice. Another strike would end this quite definitively; but even from this distance he could see the cracks already beginning to develop in the ice. This battle was far from over. "Genn go for another Ice Fang!" Raven commanded, every second they wasted that Skarmory was closer to freedom, if they didn't end this now it was straight back to the grindstone.
Genn would follow the command of course, Raven had gotten to be quick enough on the draw for him not to have developed his own plans by this point. That didn't mean he wasn't going to have a little fun with it though!
Adjusting the Skarmory's position with his tongue, Genn would move her to the end of his maw, griping the ice with his teeth, and with a sharp jerk of the head sending it upward into the air. He was going to catch it again, and as new ice developed around his teeth, it was plenty clear he planned a repeat performance! ">Look ma, no hands! GWAHAHAHAHA!<"

It would end in a single finishing move as the girl scream in her own ....anger. The Skarmory was trying to break free, but she wouldn't make it ...as the move would shatter the ice and her within. The bird dropping to the ground from the resulting explosion out cold.
This match was over, and it would seem that Genn was the winner.
And with that, the first round was over for him ...with the best 2 out of 3match ...he had won it as Sapphire would drop to her knees in anger. Though, there was nothing more for her to do as she recalled her pokemon.
"Fine, you win that one, but be aware ...you won't win this match."
She declare heatedly as she calls out the Steel/Fighting type as the Lucario appeared upon the field. The pokemon crossed her arms as she gave a bit of a snort.
(That lame bird fail again ...didn't she?)
She asked, the arrogance was practically glowing on her as she looks at Genn. Though her trainer didn't understand a word that she said as the woman would caution her pokemon.
"Laura, this is your fight, ...don't underestimate him ...that pokemon has a move that can freeze you solid."
"Lack of caution is what ended the last one" Raven stated calmly but firmly, looking directly at the woman's Lucario as he spoke "Tell me are all your Pokemon this arrogant?" He shifted his gaze to the opposing trainer for this question. Really with an attitude like that he could hardly believe the creature had ever evolved...or perhaps this was something which came about post evolution. He wondered if such a thing would occur with his own Riolu...though given the 'spirited' personality of his own, he somehow doubted that...
As always Genn merely laughed with a hardy ">GWAHAHAHAA!<" Be it in the face of danger, adversity, or a Stantler with a glowing red nose, it was all the same to him so long as things were interesting! ">Let's tango pipsqueak!<" This was his first encounter with a Lucario, that at least was something to look forward to!

"If you mean confident ...they have ever reason to be. Think how many trainers do you think can beat a Steel type? It takes a lot and then ...you need just the right blend of pokemon ...they have every reason to be overly confident."
Sapphire told him, and then looks back at her own pokemon.
"Though, i have no clue how you can figure out they are confident at all. I mean, is it their poses?"
Unlike Raven, most people couldn't understand their pokemon as she points at Genn.
"Let's end this quickly, use dragon pulse."

For an instant Raven would give the woman something of an odd look; an expression which was promptly followed by a sigh. Right. He'd spent so much time surrounded by his own classmates to varying capacities that he'd neglected to recall normal people didn't understand a word of what was coming out of their Pokemon's mouths. Shaking his head, Raven would speak up in the wake of the woman's attack "Genn defend."
To which the Steelix would reply ">Boooooring.<"
"This is neither the time nor place for foolishness" Raven stated, glaring at the steely behemoth.
">It's always the time and place for that! GWAHAHA!!<" Genn laughed uproariously before promptly throwing his weight forward, plunging his head into one of the holes he'd created with an earlier rock throw. Yes it appeared he was defending like a scared Doduo, by burying his head in the sand.
An action which would cause an audible groan from Raven. It was times like this he wished he was a deaf to the Pokemon language as others. Genn's actions were bad enough without fully understanding the mentality behind them.
