Orin considered her words carefully. After a long time of mutual silence he spoke quietly. "I am uncomfortable," he admitted, "But John is a brother to me, in more ways that one. If you are to be his wife, I would want nothing more than to be your friend. As much as I have been negatively affected by humans, they belong in this world. They are equals, even if they themselves do not realize this. Some think they are superior. Some think they are inferior. No matter what anyone believes, they have their place in our world," he decided. He stood and departed, turning back at the door to recite from the teachings of his people. "There can be no day without night, no good without evil. Though bad things happen, they are necessary... and we should be greatful for them." With that final word, he left. She's certainly given me a lot to consider...

Keira sighed after he left. She took in his words and she realized she had far more to learn. She laid back on the bench of the harp as she looked at the celing. "It's not our land to begin with. We truly don't belong here." Even if the human race is excepted here, they are fragile creature who can easily turn into pure evil. Keira placed her arm over her eyes as she thought of it. "Humans din't belong here." Keira drifted to sleep. Nightmare...Darknesss...Coldness... Keira was standing in the middle of a field, no, a fimilar place as she been here before. "I'm dreaming." Keira looked around as she realized it was where the festival was held. Keira walked untik she saw some red puddle. She walked over and realized it was blood. The screams now filled the air as Keira watched humans, men and women with fearsome smiles. Keira turned as she watxh a human man rip the wings off a fairy. "Stop it! Please!" Keira's voice was nothing more than a whispear.

John stood over Keira; she seemed to be having a nightmare. He took her gently in his arms and stroked her hair until she woke up. "Are you okay," he asked. She's a bit cold, he noticed. "You didn't touch your lunch. Weren't you hungry?" He led her over to the table and sat down with her. "So, what do you think of Orin? Honestly."

Keira finally woke up as she looked into John's eyes. She at frist stll felt like she was in a dream until he asked her if she was okay. She blushed and smiled, "I'm alright silly. That bench is comfortable." She was glad he changed topic, "Oh my, I totally forgotten about lunch as I was un the mood to play the harp. I ignored my stomach." She than shifted her gaze on the food. "Orin, he is a great company and I am glad I got to meet him and he's a friend. Although he doesn't have to be friends with me because I am going to be your wife nor does he needs to bow. I don't want him uncomfortable."

John shrugged. "He's an odd guy, but he'll get used to the idea. I think you'll really like him once you get past all that serious stuff. Sorry to spring that on you, too. I know that probably wasn't the most enjoyable thing to hear, but I had to explain and get it out in the open." Suddenly, he remembered something that brought a smile to his face, "You know, Orin has a special talent; he can play any instrument he picks up. Maybe the two of you can play together sometime?"

E "No its alright, I suppose it was for the best but I rather have me smelling bad than what he with through. He's not odd at all. I'm the odd ball but like I said love, I really don't want him uncomfortable." She kissed his forehead. "Nor do I want him to feel obligated to be friends with me. I rather have him comfortable." Keira smiled.

John shook his head sadly. "Well, that bodes ill for him. Once he sets his mind to something, he doesn't stop until he - or the other person - is dead... Or he succeeds." He shrugged and stood. "Oh, well. It will be good for him anyway. And for you too," he said pointedly, giving her hand a quick squeeze.

"I suppose leaving when he is around is out.of the question than?" She asked looking at him as she gave a small smile. She didn't want Orin to put himself through that. To be frirnds because he has to.

"No, you can do what you like. He might be a little offended and worried that his presence upsets you, but I am sure he'll understand. But I will say this... if ends up your friend, it's because he wants to be. He'll try to the death, but he will not pretend to be something he isn't, nor will he pretend to be a friend just to make someone happy. He is honest; he will tell you plainly that he is not your friend. He'll never lie." With that, John stood and stretched. "It's been a long morning already, hasn't it?"

"I'm sure you're right," John winked. "I was thinking for dinner tonight, we'd go out. Somewhere special, perhaps. I know a great little tavern," he said slyly, "It's wonderful. They have the best food around; I've asked. What do you say? Shall we?"

Keira laughed and smiled. "That sounds wonmnderful but if course I am going to be tortured by all the maids making look pretty for you." She teased by kissing his cheek.

John laughed. "You could always order them out of your room. You'll soon be lady of the manor; they will have to obey you." He sat himself in front of the piano and began running his fingers over the keys randomly as he thought.

Keira kissed him until she left as she got ready for dinner. Keira was ambushed by the maids as they picked outfits after outfits, until they finally found something suitable. She saw the look in their eyes as they actually enjoyed getting her ready. Keira didn't have the heart to command them away so instead, she just enjoyed them playimg with her hair.

Orin bandaged the colonel without saying a word. They had closed themselves off in a back room of the tavern/inn, away from prying eyes. "You need to be more careful, sir," he said finally. "It's a good thing you are here to patch me up," Henry replied darkly. The air was thick with hidden anger. "There are some things I think you and I need to clear the air about..." "Like how you sent me to my fate in the midst of those damned beasts," Orin asked, his voice rising with his temper. "Six long years it took for me to find my way out of that cursed city! Six years of hiding in the forest. A white elk does not blend in. Several times I was nearing death. And where were you?" The colonel stood stiffly, "You knew what you were getting into when you agreed to the mission." "How could I know? How could I possibly know that there was to be no rescue if I was seen?" Henry straightened, drawing himself to full height. "by using your common sense. Was I to endanger everyone for the sake of one man? Be rational!" They stood there in heavy silence, each one fuming with rage. Finally, Orin's expression softened as he calmed down. "I suppose the past is the past. What matters now is that we're all here... and John is to be married." "Yes. Married to a human. I know you must not be too thrilled with that, but- " "I have made my peace," Orin replied curtly. "Now if you'll excuse me..." He pushed his way past the colonel and into the main room, turning to show a young couple to their rooms upstairs. "Try and keep out of trouble," he shouted over his shoulder, "And if trouble does find you, try not to bring it to my door."
