I'm far too ADD for my own good, but here goes! (just keep in mind that this is just some random idea that I pulled out of my head while typing tonight, just in case it seems really stupid) XD

The king and queen of dreams emerge of the hall of mirrors, descend the steps of the spiraled tower, and observe their vast realm. They give each other uneasy glances as they watch Gaians decked out in masquerade attire flood their newly crystallized world. Upon arriving at the castle, they find that their gardener, guard, and sorceress have already been entertaining the guests; they are so excited to have Gaian dreamers visit their realm again that they completely ignoring the fact that anything is wrong. The king and queen emerge in the room with strange gravity that cuts the celebrations short. They explain to the guests what is going on in their realm, and they ask for their assistance. They explain that the borders of their realm have been slowly vanishing, and that areas that guests had ignored have become crystallized. They go on to explain how things that they know and love have disappeared without a trace. Just last week, all of the rubber duckies in the land just vanished, leaving a certain centaur gardener very very sad at bath time. The king and queen are distraught as to what is happening, but they're not sure how to fix it. They just know that the guests are the key. Meanwhile, a certain glamorous goblin sorceress has been digging through her collection of tomes, trying to find the spell to make berry flavored lipstick. She absentmindedly throws a book throws a book wide open on the table, and the sphinx guard examines it, ready to make some snide remark about the goblin's bad fashion choices. However, the guard realizes that there is something odd about the old runes, something she had learned long ago. In the book was a message that said, "The heart of the realm is but a dream, and the dreamer is the heart of the realm. When crystals cloud the dreamer's reason, then the dream will be crystal clear." The sphinx ponders this a moment, commenting on how it doesn't sound like a make-up recipe. Thinking it might be important, she takes it to the king and queen to share with the guests. The guests ponder the riddle, and each person in the room will take the guests in different directions trying to figure out what it means. Along the way, new clues will be found amongst seemingly unimportant items. When the guests finally realize that the only way to save the realm is to declare to the dream itself that they love dreaming, the world will heal, and a magical masquerade will begin. However, a few people will decide to slip of to the hall of mirrors, and explore the fun that the other worlds have to offer, and an unlikely school girl or two might step through the door and exclaim, "I don't think we're in chem lab anymore..."

    <3 this. So much.

Okay, Miss Riddles, you are too good at this!
    What does the riddle mean?

Oh that? I just stole that from the school dream's plot ideas. rofl

I'm glad you like it! But, by all means, throw out more ideas! I can churn out ideas all day long, but they're pretty much poo poo without being refined by others. biggrin

Btw, I love the harlequin avi! It's gorgeous! Maybe you could use that for your character! We need to make you one, btw. heart

OH!!! And for anyone who's reading this besides Green, I kidnapped Green for our room since she's super awesome and the reason why I joined the ball staff in the first place. xd

    Hurray!

And thank you! <3 I worked really hard perfecting her.
    I know it's not really creative, but I can't help using all these Saint Ciel items together;
I worked really hard to get the two I have,
and the Laced Blessings I finally got recently!

Mmmmkay, what kind of character do you need/want?

If I am still on here in twenty minutes, kick me off because I need to sleep!

We can decide that in the plot meeting tomorrow night. Whatever it is, it has to be fun and funny! heart

What if the guests started dreaming about dragons because of our setting, and dragons came to life because of it? They would attack the kingdom and provide a great distraction for the guests. Then, the guests can defeat them by dreaming them as friendly dragons who like to yodel and serve tea! biggrin

Our plot is due in a week to keep on schedule, and it's important that our room be a good role model for the rest of the rooms. Therefore, I propose we start making mock-up plots, and changing things from those rough drafts. I'll start off:

The King and Queen of Dreams descended the spiral staircase and observed their vast realm, not sure what the would happen now that hoards of excited and frightened Gaians were emerging through the portals into their world. Though uncertain, the pair keep up the appearance of composure as they approach the Ivory Palace. Half wilted gardens of roses line the ascent, and something like green foam gushes forth from fountains depicting mythical beasts of all kinds. It's a happy castle, indeed, the the lands surrounding the palace area dull sort of grey with tinges of pink where crystals have taken root in once lush environments. Entire roads are missing as crossroads now lead nowhere, simply vanishing into misty haze in the distance. These roads once led to other dreams where much shifting took place, but the pink mist keeps all who inhabit the land from venturing to these places just as the mirrors no longer offer a means of transport. Despite these problems, the Ivory Palace still offers a beacon of hope for its inhabitants.

Day 1
Guests arrive and explore the world. The king tries to give advice as he can, but he's not sure about solutions himself. Convinced that beauty is the way to solve the problem, Gertie tries to give guests makeovers using magic, which doesn't end well. She also tries her techniques on the butleress (Green), which results in much hilarity (minigames) The gardener/centaur (Ink) is so excited to have guests that he forgets the problems, and tries to engage everyone in a game of badmitton or some other sport. The guard (G-Fire) is not amused at this lack of disciple and focus, and chatises everyone to get on task. She tries spouting off riddles to guests using latent knowledge that she's sure will help, but these riddles don't get anyone anywhere. (mini-games) Meanwhile, the Queen is tending to her rose garden, exasperated at her self for not knowing what to do. She and the king realize what's going on, and try to keep order in the madness.

Day 2
The centaur is in the library with Gertie as the two have a blooming relationship. A book falls of the shelf, and the centaur notices that the contents aren't Gertie's usual selections. They realize it's a prophecy left by the Spinx guard's grandmother. It gives clues about power blooming in the land, and eventually leads up to a massive scavenger hunt that reveals the roses as the source of power. All of the cast gets in on these games, cheering on the guests. The guests sucessfully complete the tasks, and the room is transformed into a lush paradise with open roads for travel. The king and queen are so happy that they throw a lavish masquerade ball. More random and fun contests happen.

Day 3
Now that the roads are open, it's time for crossovers. I think the school dream would be a great room to plan one with seeing as though no one has planned anything with them yet. Plus, I can see how a magical school and a fantasy land could come up with some super fun plots!

I don't know. It still seems pretty weak in my opinion. confused It also seems like our room is now almost identical to what the Whimsical Room has, thogh I think theirs is better executed. Would you hate me if I suggested scrapping everything and reforming our plot/characters in a serious midnight oil burning chat session? We need to get back to the masquerade, masks, and air of mystery that made our room stand out from the others in the first place! Without even realizing it, half of the rooms have become shockingly similar. xp

I was thinking something like this was what we were aimimg for. Somehow we got off track. We started with a mysterious, slightly dark, strangely romantic, absurd, grotesque, and yet beautiful fantasy. We're currently in the realm of non-serious hilarity. confused

crying You mean no more horsey men or sphinxes or goblin seamstresses? Bu-but...I dunno. I guess if it has to be done, it has to be done, but how are we going to change things?

Edit, Saturday afternoon: Y'know, looking over our plot and the Whimsical Room plot again, they really AREN'T that similar, let alone identical. The only things that they share are royalty and a plot centered around a garden, and we could always change the garden part to something else. The Whimsical Room has people trying to usurp the monarchs' throne, and that was never a part of our plot. Nobody (neither their room nor ours) should have to give up the royalty part of their room, because royalty is a part of A LOT of stories without any plagiarism on anyone's part. Yes, our plot still needs work and we need to find another central focus of our plot other than a garden (since, as you said, the Whimsical Room is already doing that, and doing it better), but I can't help thinking that scrapping our WHOLE plot and character list would be a bit of an overreaction. YMMV, of course, but that's my two cents.

What kind of tone do we want our room to have? That's the thing. It currently has a humorous and adventurous tone. How about one of mystery, romance, strange, grotesque, and beauty? We wouldn't have to scrap everything, just re-imagine a few things. And, everyone wear masks! Somehow, we got away from our first idea. sweatdrop

Well, if it gets too serious, it turns into a nightmare! wink

Hmmm...maybe each character's mask represents his or her own insecurities? (Like Gertie is insecure about her looks, so she makes her mask beautiful, etc.) I dunno. I kind of stink at coming up with original ideas. blaugh

Maybe the masks can even play a role in the plot. For example, maybe everyone is missing their masks, so they're not really themselves. Or, maybe the masks come off at the end once they discover they don't need them anymore.

Oooh, I like that! They've been hiding behind their masks, and losing the masks gives them the courage to step out and be themselves! heart

What if everything were slightly re-imagined? Look at my examples:

Bubbles floated through the air as the inhabitants of the fantastical world danced in the beautiful yet grotesque eternal masquerade. Strange, sweet music came from the air, lulling all who heard it into a blissful haze. The masked dancers spun with perfect timing as the silent clocks were neglected. High windows seemingly stretched to the ceiling, letting in a soft, silvery light. Outside the castle walls, exquisite topiaries greeted all who entered, keeping ever watchful eyes on those who passed. From the mouths of mythical stone beasts, white sand poured like a never-ending fountain, the sand of dreams. The moon shone its pure white light from a gunmetal grey sky as blue clouds skirted the horizon. A silent chill struck the landscape of soft pink crystals where fields of wildflowers used to grow. A murky fog hovered on the outskirts of the castle grounds, erasing the crossroads to nowhere. As masses of Gaian dreamers descended the staircase from the Tower of Dreams, a few inhabitants took notice.

Possible characters:
Elegant goblin – Sophisticated, beautiful, refined, aloof, but very intelligent and learned in the ways of magic and sorcery
Harlequin – Perhaps the wisest person in the land, a trickster whose intent is always shrouded in mystery
Guardian – The great protector of the castle, armed with a rapier, loyal, romantic, was never given a name so he seeks one from a dreamer
The keeper of keys – A mysterious lady, no one knows from whence she came though she seems to take quite an interest in the legends of the land, generally a good person, but who believes that nothing ever comes without a price
King Samanus – A proud king who never wanted for anything until the dream blight struck the land, a lover of music, a great man and leader, but who has a short temper
Queen – A peculiar woman whose ideas do not always match reality, a lover of gardening, and a gracious host

Hmmm....What if this takes on a more dark and twisted Brothers Grmm kind of feel to it?

Of course Chibi's last post was a beautiful description as well. I like Masquerade themes as well. heart

A witch's spell might work, but we'd have to figure out how to make that fit with problems because of lack of dreamers. Actually, having a good antagonist might not be such a bad idea! biggrin

Maybe not too terribly dark... Remember there's a nightmare room. lol
