Cellyn snickered as Jurel's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "You didn't really think he'd welcome you with open arms, now did you?" she chided him with a shake of her head. Her, on the other hand - with the way things were going she'd snap up any man willing to kill things and get paid for it, no questions asked.
"I'm hurt, deeply wounded. More than the last time we met, even," the assassin complained, lounging against the wall to face the two of them. "Here I am, out of the goodness of my heart -"
"And boredom," Cellyn interjected.
"And boredom," he amended. "Goodness of heart and boredom...where was I...oh, I'm here out of all those things and I ask nothing in return except some payment at the end of wherever you're going and here I stand, rejected."
"Humiliated."
"Humiliated," he agreed.

Noj looked between Cellyn and Jurel with an eyebrow still up. They appeared to be getting along great... "Look, boy, I'm not here to play games. What stops you from trying to slit our throats while we sleep because you're...bored? Furthermore, I'm pretty sure I've humiliated you plenty already, what with killing half your gang and mauling you up single handedly." (ok, there was a warder) "What's to say that you're not out for Cellyn, but out for my life? It doesn't mean much to me at this point, but even so, I'd rather go out in a better way than being stabbed by a coward in my sleep." This man was an idiot, obviously never really communicated with a normal person. Noj had to admit he was a bit off color too, but at least he was able to differentiate between reasonable and moronic. "Tell me why you're really here? Because I doubt it's just to amuse yourself." Noj grasped a good bit of Saidin, even though it probably torch lit him to the world, and he was having a bit of trouble keeping it all from crushing him(he never really held that much before, it didn't hurt, it was just hard to control).

Jurel shook his head. "I sense great paranoia in you, short one," he said mockingly. His face turned solemn for a moment before he shook his head again, as if settling some inner debate. "I admit, I'm not here purely for entertainment alone," he admitted, casting a glance at both of them in turn. "I'm still hired by that little lordling to bring his errant bride-to-be back home, you see. But I don't like the little b*****d much, who could?"
Cellyn had narrowed her eyes but remained still. "So, what are you doing here, then?" she demanded. "You could have easily taken me while Noj was gone."
"That should say something in my favor," the assassin argued with a bored shrug. He turned to Noj. "I've got no orders regarding you, other than a humiliating, painful death. I'm sure I could accomplish it, but it's more effort than it's worth. It's not like I usually like the people who hire me, but this one is rotten. And I've never seen a woman who kicks like a mule and then climbs a tree instead of running into the trees towards her rescuer," he continued, grinning at Cellyn. She couldn't resist a smug smile. "So, I'm here to throw myself at your mercy. Unless you don't have any, in which case I'll be on my way. But it'd be in your best interest to have me around, the little lordling has hired others and while they might not be a challenge by themselves, they're a vicious bunch and there are safety in numbers."
The woman sighed and looked at Noj. Her mind was actually already made up - the assassin didn't seem like the type to string them along for betrayal when kidnapping seemed more his style. And she and Noj were hardly traveling together under normal circumstances, what was one more blade? Or three. "What do you think, Noj? I'm sure he could pay for himself along the way, if his bragging is to be believed," she remarked.

He hiked his eyebrow at the woman and sighed, using Saidin to form a net of Air and slam the assassin against the wall with it, pinning him about a foot of the ground. "Fine, but remember, boy, that you're at my mercy." Walking out the room, he sheathed his blade and cut his connection to Saidin, letting the man hit the ground, keeping a knife he slide from his sleeve in his hand just in case out of sight. If Cellyn were a fool enough to trust the slimy creature than let her, and she'd be the one to learn her mistake personally, he wasn't here to make decisions for her. Walking outside into the cool air, Noj made his way to the local smithy, which wasn't far off, and, after a little persuasion, began helping the blacksmith who ran it with some menial projects like horse shoes and the like.

"I think he's jealous, milady," Jurel remarked dryly, getting up stiffly and stretching the aches out. He'd be sore for a few days, he thought with a sigh, and chalked it up to the hazards of the job. He got no sympathy from the woman, who only shrugged.
"Hah, Noj? I doubt it. More than likely he's just suspicious, paranoid and mad because I didn't ask him to take your head off," she replied. Noj was definitely more aggressive than she had expected and wondered why. There was a difference between using someone and trusting them - and it seemed all three were just using the others for their own means, so what was the problem? Noj was more than able to take care of the assassin if need be, and she wasn't about to let her own guard down either. She shook her head. "Men."
"I brought my own horse and supplies," the taller man continued cheerfully, asif nothing had happened. "So there won't be any need for you to spend coin on me, yet. I'll sleep in the stables, Tysha gets a bit ansty around other horses if left alone for too long, so there's another expense gone," he said. She nodded, almost amused.
"So I gather I'm just supposed to take you at your word that you aren't working for that milksucker?" she asked conversationally. He shook his head.
"Of course I'm working for him. That doesn't mean I'm doing what he wants me to do. I'm just in his pay," he said with a wink. "I assassinate people and ask no questions. I don't kidnap women and drag them back to be beaten the rest of their lives. I was planning on keeping you for myself the last time, until you attempted to sterilize me. Luckily, I've recovered quite nicely." He winked bawdily at her and she snickered.
"Men only think with two things, and the latter far more than what they should," she finally said, unsure how to take the man's words. Let him hang around and see what would come of it, Noj's paranoia would just have to compensate.

Noj pounded away at the metal venting his stress through it, forming up some nails at the moment. When most people, or at least boys, think of blacksmithing they always want to make armor, and weapons, but in truth there was much more that could be done. Armor and weapons only went toward those that flirted with death, yet nails, horse shoes, cropping scythes, so much more that could be without the need for killing intent. Plus, making the little things was much better for one's stress levels, knowing that what you are crafting will help someone's life become easier, as opposed to taking it. Then again, at least when he tried, Noj had somewhat failed at his attempt to make a decent weapon. On a whim, Noj started channeling into the nails as he worked, not sure what he was doing, but knowing that it helped. Ever since he learned how to channel on his own, he'd been doing it a little. He was sure what he accomplished, but the work always came out the same as it would have looked before, so he assumed nothing. He felt some eyes peering into his back, probably that third rate what ever he was, since he had yet to prove his title of assasin.

"I hope you're not thinking of hitting me in the head with that," Jurel commented, just a bit nervously, as he approached the broader man. What the assassin had in height, Noj more than made up for in muscle. "I meant what I said, you know. I'm not about to drag her back to that beast of a lordling just for some pay. I'm an assassin, not some hired laborer. I have some honor." He spat in disgust, watching as Noj's motions didn't change. "You do know why I've been hired to get her, right?" he asked, suddenly wondering if he was incorrect about how much he actually knew about the woman.

Cellyn sighed and sat down on the bed, shaking her head. It definitely wouldn't be an easy journey if the two men were at each other's throats the entire time, but that was for them to settle between them. She shrugged and headed downstairs, where she was met with the innkeeper's grin.
"Will you be needing another room?" he asked hopefully, anticipating more coin in his pocket. She disappointed him with a shake of her head.
"No, that won't be necessary, thank you," she replied dismissively, taking a seat near the kitchen and ordering supper with more enthusiasm than she felt.

Noj paused, taking the finished nail and quenching it, appreciating the hiss. "I know something about how he hired you to get her back, something about him being dishonored for it and being a complete if not imbecile a be damned fool. I don't question your honor, if your methods. I probably have no right, since the amount of life I've taken is past my counting as well, death is death, and once someone is dead, there's not much you can do about it, no matter how it was mete out. What I can't find an answer to, is as to why you're helping us, when you're being paid by another person to at least capture Cellyn, and if it was he that I saw with you, another order for my own life." He picked up an iron bar. "I'm not much of a gambler myself, despite my actions, but there are a few times when I can realize the dice are loaded." He put the hammer down, and the iron bar. "I don't know who you are, nor she, but it's the same. You know not who I am, nor does she, and frankly, I don't really care. Tag along if you wish." Noj turned around, leaning on the anvil, still warm from his work. "But you must admit that I have reason to be suspicious of you at least. But we are alike in a way, doing what we wish. My wish right now is to shelter her, since the only real way a killer can find any redemption in them selves is by protecting others from people like him. So that's what I'm doing, and if you ever come between me and that again, I won't be so kind as last time. But that will come later, for right now, you aren't doing anything to cross any lines in just existing and perhaps helping us in our cause. Besides, right now I'm on the watch for an Aes Sedai and a Warder, who despite seeming to have disappeared, I think are still hanging around." Noj turned back around to the anvil, taking the nail from the water with his hand, since the metal was now cool to the touch. Despite his channeling, the nail still looked the same, felt the same, and weighed the same, with no perceivable difference, other then the fact it's angles seemed a bit straighter than it should with the quality of tools available. "So, if you want to convince me that your presence is beneficial to our cause, then prove it, because words will do nothing to sway me, assassin."

Jurel's mouth dropped open - one would assume with shock - before he burst out laughing and clapped the broader man on the shoulder. "Well then, we'll get along fine! I don't intend to interfere with your duty again. You have no reason to trust me, but you will one day, you have my word on that." He continued to laugh and sat down on the floor, shaking his head. "An Aes Sedai is after the girl? Does she know about this, or is it something you're keeping from her?" The assassin peered at Noj curiously. "Women don't take kindly to that, you should know that by now." He settled back against the wall, looking faintly smug as if pleased Noj would be the recipient of her wrath instead of him. The man was a mystery to Jurel, but at least it would keep him entertained while they traveled. Neither trusted the other, but that would just make it all the more interesting too, in his opinion. "I will say this - only one person has hired me, and I won't do his bidding any longer. And there's no need to be jealous of me, the girl obviously prefers you to me," he said, satisfied with himself.

Cellyn picked at her food, wondering if the two men had killed each other yet and if she would have to pay to clean up the mess afterwards. "My life has come down to running and cleaning up after men's messes," she said to herself with a sigh.

Noj finished inspecting the nail before tossing it in the pile of finished ones, take another hunk of iron and letting it heat. "Yes, she knows about my suspicions, but she has labeled them paranoia, but Cellyn also isn't the most incredibly knowledgeable person in the world on how the world works, at least not in the fashion that we must now deal with it. The Aes Sedai finds her interesting, and if an Aes Sedai has her way, she'd likely kill in cold blood and dance on the corpse of any person king or nation to get it. Course it'd be spun a different way in their eyes, but I've come across their kind before. The seem to believe themselves all knowing, and what they want is more important than anything else, or I suppose, making things happen in the manner in which they want. They believe themselves to be final authority over the world with none higher than they." Noj took the hot iron out with the tongs, and hammered at it, separating a small piece for another nail. Noj didn't really care about his other two comments enough to warrant any response toward them.

"You won't get any argument about that from me," Jurel replied with a careless shrug. "I've run into one or two in my line of work. Nasty pieces of work, even if they're pretty to look at." He considered the situation for a few minutes, watching Noj work, before getting back to his feet. "I may be an assassin, not a bodyguard, by trade, but if you know an Aes Sedai is searching for Cellyn, why on earth do you keep leaving her alone? They have spies everywhere. You're only making my assumed job easier, you know," he chastised the man, before slipping out the door. He felt he had a point, if not being altogether justified in being the point to say it. But usually the bodyguards he met made a habit of staying with their charge, not leaving them alone.

"Usually only Aes Sedai are brave enough to eat alone," a man remarked, taking a seat across from Cellyn and peering at her. "Even if it isn't a tavern, a pretty woman runs lots of risks being alone."
"I'm not - " She stopped when realized she was - both supposed guards were nowhere to be seen. "Probably too busy arguing over who's better," she thought dismally. "And who are you?" she demanded, setting her fork down and staring him down.
A shrug. "Just someone sent to do an assassin's job. I'm being paid a lot more than normal, but after the last debacle you caused he doesn't want to risk anything. Don't start screaming, you'll just start a barfight. Come with me nice and quiet and I won't hurt you," he assured her solemnly, not even a hint of a grin on his face.
PostPosted: Sat Jan 21, 2012 8:58 am

Noj sighed, supposing the assassin did have a valid point all and all. Putting down his work, he apologized to the local blacksmith and left, making his way back to the tavern. It was only a quick jaunt, like maybe a minute, since the smithy and tavern were within eye shot of each other, and Noj was certain that after the assassin had finally been able to wrestle out a good idea he probably ran back to prove it, but Noj had to admit that something felt wrong, not like shadowspawn, but wrong nonetheless. Sighing, he jogged back, and peered into the room, seeing Jurel approaching a table that was occupied by Cellyn and another man. Well, a good point indeed. Pulling up the hood of his cloak, he made it so his vibrant hair couldn't be seen and made his way to the bar near the table. Jurel could handle anything out of sort, and Noj doubted the what appeared to be hired man would start anything in the middle of the tavern. Focusing on Saidin, he slowly began cutting the legs the chair the man was sitting in using Air, hoping that Jurel would be smart enough to take opportunity when the man fell on his arse.

"Are you harassing my lady friend?" Jurel asked politely, taking a seat beside Cellyn and peering at the man as if he was an interesting sort of bug. "I sincerely hope not, because she's the temperamental sort, you see."
"The lady and I were just having a chat," the man replied snidely, knowing full well who the assassin was. "Speaking of jobs and suchlike. None of your concern." Cellyn leaned closer to Jurel, not at all pleased about the situation.
"Where were you?" she hissed.
"Giving Noj a lesson," he whispered back, just as the man's chair collapsed underneath him. Faster than anyone could blink, Jurel was across the table and straddling the man, one hand pulling his head back and the other at his knife. Without a word, he slid the knife into the man's neck, so cleanly there was hardly any blood on the floor as he stood and moved next to Cellyn.
"That is how you properly dispose of pest like that," he said in satisfaction, a hand dropping on her shoulder. "I'm assuming he didn't hurt you?"
"N-no," she managed, startled by the man's speed.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 23, 2012 8:32 pm

Noj sighed loudly, making sure to give the assassin a good whack on the head with Air. He didn't need to kill the man, at least not in plain eye sight, after cause such a ruckus. Acting as if the man was just a drunk friend, Noj shouldered him rather easily and dragged him across the inn and out the door, refusing help. Going round to the side of the inn he slipped into the gap between it and the next building, making a quick hole with Earth and dumping the body in, before covering it, using his hands a bit because Saidin refused to let him fill it in without physical effort. Whatever. Making his way back in he sat at the table, lowering his hood and staring at the assassin, the to Cellyn, and back to the assassin. "While your intuition is correct, please remember that we're trying to stay here to recover without anyone chasing us out. Killing a man in the establishment in which we stay in such a small town is bound to have consequences, especially if one just leaves the body there." Pushing back on his leg, Noj tilted his chair back on the rear legs, leisurely rocking himself back and forth.

"I'm an assassin, you want me to smack the back of his hand or something? Who said I was going to leave the body?" Jurel asked indignantly, folding his arms across his chest. He smirked after a brief moment of pouting. "And I've already spoken to our good host before I approached you two. I warned him you tend to be followed by the sort of people who need putting down." He winked. "He promised just to charge extra for each body, instead of tossing us out in the streets. And with one gone, the others will be less likely to come sniffing around. Sometimes you need a body." The assassin shrugged and could have cared less what Noj thought. He cast a slightly-nervous glance at Cellyn, however, as if fearing his family jewels might be in danger.
She shook her head, not particularly happy about the death but duly nothing his logic. "You both have a point. Showy, effective, stop showing off, something like that." She waved a hand helplessly. "Are you two hungry? I've eaten already and the stew is good," the woman continued, gesturing to her bowl as proof.
