There was nothing Raziel could do to help the others as the cloaked figure from the riddle appeared again. He was already over the chasm and there was no way he was taking the chance of jumping back over, only to have to leap once again to safety. No jacking way.

As the cloaked figure moved slowly, as though it were about to fall over, Raziel could only watch in horror as the cloak began to slip. Obviously if these things were wearing cloaks, there must be a reason to hide themselves. Raziel reasoned that they must be supremely ugly and use their hideous features as a last defense from attackers. But when the cloak did finally fall, Raziel jerked his hands to cover his face and squinted his eyes to avoid what he expected to be a hideously deformed body. Instead there was a ghoul, she looked like she couldn't be much older than any of the students there, and Raziel's mouth gaped a little, wondering how she managed to get onto the island, and why she was here in the first place.

However, for all his questions, all Raziel could manage to get out was a, "Whuuuuut....?" with a profoundly dumb look on his face.

Rosc had done his best to protect himself from the debris, but he couldn't dodge them all. The heavy force had cracked against his back, sent him back to his knees, but didn't keep him down. He was back on his feet and running after Sin and the crazy reaper. He didn't want to follow, because that meant he was giving some sort of trust to her, but what other choice did he have?

He had to get out of there, and this seemed like the only way. Besides, he wasn't about to let Sin out of his sight if he could help it. He'd lost her once already, he knew it would shake her too strongly to lose track of one of her friends.
It would shake him too much to lose track of her in this place.

Just as he stepped onto the path the reaper had made, he felt it crumble beneath him. His wings spread, but it did nothing to help him as he fell, his damaged wing completely useless when it came to flight.

"SIN!"

And then there was nothing, no even a white feather in the darkness.

Jack. Holly had waited too long to try and get across and had been hit with a little debris. It seemed a few already made it across, some had hesitated like she, and well some feel to what was probably their deaths. Seriously what was up with this trip??

Holly tried to make it across the bridge. And somehow missed it. Great. All she remembered was miss-stepping and falling.

Falling.

Ah, there! West bent over to retrieve his bat, his fingers just beginning to curl around it when something screeched. Ow.

"Jackdammit!" the boil yelled, straightening once more. That weird cloaked ghoul was back and she was suddenly not so cloaked anymore. Ahem. It seemed she was still crazy though. "What's wrong wit'you," he muttered under his breath. She wanted them to die? Well too Jackin' bad! He watched as Famine made her way unsteadily across some sort of invisible bridge. Okay, he could do that. He continued to watch as the succubus followed suit followed by the incubus and, well s**t, that wasn't good. The ground crumbled out from under Rosc and then Holly...

...

Holly was fine. She had to be.

West was sorely tempted to drop to his hands and knees and feel his way across after watching his friend disappear into that chasm, but he decided that would be pretty lame of him after all he had been through already. West chose a path that seemed to mirror the one Famine had taken and strode across the invisible bridge, head held high. He sighed with relief when he reached the other side. If anyone called him on the sigh, they would get a bat to the kneecaps.

He glared at Famine and the students who had made it this far, then looked back over the rift at Savior. If the Marrowstripe made it across, the first thing he was going to do was tell her to eat this horned b***h.

It was hard for Savior to stay focused with the ringing in her ears, her body aching but not quite at the level where she could no longer move. She instead was at a point where her instincts were starting to take over her basic functions rather than letting her mind think - a common response that all Marrowstripe had during times of crisis. It was much easier to go into a blind rage and attack things then think about the possible outcome though Savior found it difficult to even attack anything. If she hadn't been hit in her head this would have been so much easier but she had and so it wasn't.

She watched a few students shamble after a strange figure who smelled downright horrible and Savior wondered if that was the correct thing to do. An attempt to stall and think was given, allowing the Marrowstripe a period of time to grab some of the pieces of scattered paper, but Savior wasn't sure what to do with them so she stuffed them into her bag. She was half-tempted to stay where she was until she saw West go across and thus her mind was made up, prompting her to quickly scuttle over and get across a path she couldn't even see. It was funny that there was an actual bridge there anyway, chances are Savior would have eventually jumped to the other side without knowing, and as her feet came again onto solid ground she turned just in time to finish watching Holly plummet away.

And Savior bent over the corner as if she were going to go in after her, the Marrowstripe's lean body dangling over the edge as her hands swiped at the darkness. She didn't understand her sudden need to get to Holly but there was something nagging her (aside from the headache) that the ghost needed saved. . . .

Bul was about to keep moving until a sudden ruckus occurred behind him. All he could do was turn and look to see what had happened and noticed the cloak had revealed themselves. Were they... helping the students? "Huh?" he asked then ran to the edge of the chasm to watch.

"Guys come on you can do it" he roared angrily. He already lost one friend there was no way he was going to let another fall down into the abyss.

Sin went over.. but Holly and Rosc went. "s**t.. s**t!" he growled furiously. "Way to make a s**t a** bridge!" barked the half beast. He extended his hand to those who were still making it across, including West. He too watched anxiously for the Marrowstripe to cross, seemingly hoping she would make it so they could make better light of their situation earlier.. but..

Bul did happen to see the black papers that the Marrowstripe grabbed for and watched some of the others flutter about but could not reach them from where he stood. Instead of grabbing for the paper though, he went to where Savior was hanging and also extended a hand to her, though if West made it first would simply do what he could to keep her from stumbling back into the pit.

"Savior." West's voice was nearly as commanding as it had been when he was trying to get the ghoul to stop eating Bul, but this time he bent over (ow, head injury) and grabbed at her upper arm for a moment as well, hoping that some combination of the two would stop her from potentially ending her life. Why was it that whenever he dealt with the ghoul he felt like his father? Or at least what he assumed his father felt like. Or any father. Maybe.

"Y'can't getter down there," he added, hoping whatever Marrowstripe beacon he had on him was stronger than the one Holly had. "Gettover'ere." It was time to eat Famine. Oh, who was he kidding. There was no way he could convince her to eat Famine. West rolled his eyes.

(( HP: 18 - 8 = 10 ))

Dazed, Aurian lay on the ground where she'd fallen as the centralised earthquake had struck. Falling debris rained down. Aurian's first attempt at getting back to her feet had failed when something struck her from above. By the time she shook it off, a strange woman had appeared. She seemed to be ushering more students across the chasm.

At first Aurian thought they were being herded to their death, but as she saw ghouls walking across the air, she realised there must be a bridge of some sort. Of course it couldn't actually be visible to make this easy on them, oh no. The island wasn't that nice.

Aurian had a moment's thought to wonder if this new woman was the daughter of Famine that the riddle had spoken of. She was easily distracted, though, first by grabbing at several of the black pieces of paper that the Famine-lady was shedding like feathers, and then it was her turn to cross the chasm.

It was a terrible balancing act. With the metal pipe tucked back in her bag (along with the black paper pieces), Aurian raised her arms out at her side and took a first, faltering step out into midair.

"Don't look down, don't look down," she muttered to herself, repeating it over and over again. Red eyes remained fixed on the other side, refusing to see anything but Aurian's goal, as though that would ensure her success. Perhaps it helped. Slowly but surely, Aurian crossed the chasm. She wasn't immune to the cries of students who fell, flinching as if struck at every one. One of the voices sounded like Damien - Aurian's vision blurred and she prayed to Jack that she was mistaken.

Finally reached the other side, Aurian collapsed. She'd never been so glad to have ground below her again, not even after the shipwreck. After a few moments of shaky breathing and tremors wracking her body, Aurian wiped at her eyes and tried to pull herself together. She looked around, hoping to see that all her friends had made it.

Hobbling over to West and Saviour, Aurian gave them relieved smiles. They weren't as bright as her usual ones, and the reason was soon apparent. "I thought I heard Damien fall... Did our other companions also...?" she trailed off, unable to ask who had made it and who had not.

Death wasn't permanent in Halloween Town, Aurian knew. But this wasn't Halloween Town, and the island had been anything but kind to them so far. Jack willing, the fallen students would re-form. Aurian had never had friends before this trip - she didn't want to lose them so easily.

All of the rumbling eventually shook Tomoko awake, the girl groaning a bit as she shifted, putting one hand on the back of her head...before realizing everything was still shaking. There was a moment in which she stared at her friends (They hadn't abandoned her ;A; <3<3<3! ), making a questioning expression, before the rambling of a nearby figure caused her to look at said being questioningly.

Wait. Where were they going...and....hey wait.... Tomoko looked to Seiji and Junko, looking away as a few students seemed to follow after the figure on their invisible bridge, before furrowing her brows together and looking to Jove, ears drooping. Clearly it was time for silent communication. Either way, she had to take a moment to get her footing properly before she made an effort to stumble after the group.

"i-I don't know what's happening...but I have a feeling this is safer than staying put, right?" she whispered, hoping that she wasn't alone in her (very shakey) walking towards the gap in the floor, taking a deep breath, not quite sure what she was doing, but making a point to stay close on the heels of whomever was in front of her to make sure she crossed the empty space (HYPERVENTILATION!!!! ) without suffering too badly for it.

Though once on the other side, she made sure to HYPERVENTILATE HERSELF INTO A FIT.

Uh oh. Uh oh. That's all that seemed to be running through Alcie's head as she stared at the ever growing chasm. This was pretty much as bad as it was going to get or she could hardly imagine how it could be worse.

She watched as Rosc walk across the seemingly impossible bridge and she gasped out loud when she saw Rosc fall into the depths below. Cursing audibly, the water demon knew that she couldn't stay here. She was going to die anyway so might as well just take a step of faith. She remembered to grab the little black pieces of paper also before she stepped out on the invisible bridge.

She almost wanted to look away but Alcie kept her eyes glued to the other side. If she looked at the floor, she didn't think that she would be able to make it across. She kept inching across the rift but then changed her mind and ran into a full sprint. There was no way she was going to stay on here longer than she needed to.

"Dear Jack." Somehow she managed to get to the other side and she gave a huge sigh of relief. Then she realized that Sin had made it but Rosc didn't. There were quite a few students that hadn't made it across the rift. Alcie had no idea what to say to Sin or if anything she said would be able to comfort her. "I'm so sorry Sin! I don't know what happened to Rosc or the other students but I think they'll be okay." Frowning, Alcie didn't know how to hide the concern and fear in her voice.

Sin was urging so eagerly for Rosc and Alcie, she wanted them both over so they could all get through the portal. Safe. Together. She even almost managed a half smile at the thought after all now they were being led across what could go wrong? Except that it was a batty reaper leading them across talking about death.

Sin relaxed when she saw Rosc set foot down her lips lifted in an encouraging smile and then everything seemed to freeze. For a second Sin couldn't even register the change on Rosc's face and then everything moved slowly as if through a foggy glaze. She felt her body pitch forward, her knees scraping the ground as she slid towards the chasm and flung her arm out. A heel snapped, it wasn't important though, nor the painful stinging from her legs. The smile was relaced by a sudden look of terror as she realized Rosc was falling...falling. Her fingers barely grazed his, no, no wyh weren't their hands clasped? Fallen...Rosc was gone and she was left laying on the ground stretched beside the chasm her hand held out her face shocked.

"ROSCIEL!" She felt time suddenly speed forward again, moving as it always had, but altered painfully. "NO! ROSC!" She forced herself onto her hands and knees feeling along the ledge of the chasm crawling for a moment before she stood. She stared down into the darkness with her mouth agape in complete shock.

Then she heard Alcyone and slowly managed to tear her gaze away from the darkness. Her eyes filled with tears, but she couldn't hold these back. Her mask slipped away and drop after drop fell taking traces of mascara and Sin's composure with them. She slowly lifted her hands and then clasped them together with a sob. "Oh...oh Jack...I...I should have...held...held his hand..." She looked at Alcie for a moment and then quickly hugged her friend and started to sob on her shoulder. She couldn't help it, and she didn't care who saw, this horrible place was stealing lives. She was so glad Alcyone had made it across, but even her best friend couldn't replace what she had lost when she saw Rosc fall...to his death

Whatever other hysterics that had overwhelmed the handful of remaining students was drowned out by an audible electric zap. As the survivors wobbled hesitantly across the chasm, they might have noticed upon reaching the other side, the strange glowing blue 'portal' buzzing and hissing angrily.

'Famine' hissed as the contraption snapped back angrily at her again. Upon closer inspection, it looked like she was randomly pressing a series of keys on the side of the contraction. Well, more like smashing against them: and doing a horrible job of it too.

"I HATE passwords!" This was pretty obvious in itself: it wasn't too sure at this rate if the portal was supposed to open or explode on itself from Famine's rabid key pounding. "Ugh, they told me this was the password, those liars!" She suddenly stopped. "Oh! My cloak - my cloak!" The deranged 'helper' paused for a second, an extremely confused expression plastered on her face. Comprehension did not seem to dawn for her yet that she was not wearing said cloak, as she kept shuffling for non-existent pockets, swishing back and forth. "Where are they! I need them, the black papers, the papers, the pieces. Oh, they're going to be so mad."

When Colette heard her name in Raziel's familiar voice, she instantly looked in the direction it came from. He was coming after her -- attempting to cross the chasm. The Reaper held her breath as he leaped. Several other students had fallen. What if he fell too? She wouldn't be able to forgive herself. The terrible, stomach sickening moment passed once he was out of the air and actually landed. She couldn't believe it. Colette couldn't help but rave in her mind at what had happened. "Oh, Jack. Thank you. Thank you!" She really didn't know what she would do if he fell; it would have been all her fault.

Once she heard the unbearable screeching, Colette knew who was near. Her hands naturally flew to her ears to try and mute it, but it was always futile. Though as always, it subsided just in time. That she was thankful for, but she knew it meant the figure had simply arrived and was occupied. Colette listened to her talk about something. Having to help? Her eyes followed the ghoul's finger to the portal -- she called it their exit.

Running to Raziel, Colette sighed with relief. "Thank Jack you're okay!" She covered her face with her hands and outlined the edge, trying to take in everything that was going on with a half-assed massage. Colette couldn't help but notice his expression though, and followed his eyes to give Famine a good look. "Well, she did say she was a daughter." She didn't know if he was baffled by her age, gender, or just looks. Some boils did stare when they liked someone, oddly enough, and she didn't really know Raziel's preferences.

"I guess that glowing thing is the exit," Colette said as she pointed at the glowing portal and looked at Raziel. She didn't know if they should go yet or what, and she actually said it to get him to stop looking at Famine. It was awkward, despite little that was known about the ghoul. Like why she attacked them earlier!

She turned from Raziel to look at the portal she was pointing at, only to see Famine hitting something on it. What was doing?! Colette looked with a horrified face at what was happening. Their so-called exit, making all kinds of zapping noises and in the state of what appeared to be broken!

If she needed papers to get it working, Colette was more than obliged. She wanted to leave. They had been seemingly and utterly useless to her anyway. Fumbling in her bag, Colette took out her only black piece of paper. It had a number two on it. She was pretty sure she picked up more when she lost her bag, but she must have misplaced them.

"Let's try and help her," she said to Raziel. They just had to, she did not want to stay here. Colette hustled her way to Famine and motioned for Raziel to follow.

"I only have this," Colette said to the ghoul while holding out the piece of paper with a number two on it.

(( I don't know if we were supposed to get anything back when we lost our bag and found it again, but I never did. I'm only saying it in case it's relevant to having black papers, since because I got nothing I'm having Colette ICly gain nothing. ))

"Damien fell, yeah," West confirmed. "An' th'ghoul witthe dolls an'Holly an'..." He gestured at Sin and her crying but didn't comment further.

In response to Famine's outburst, West turned away from Savior and Aurian for a second to tear open his bag and pull out two rumpled sheets of paper. "Here! Y'want paper?" he said, throwing the sheets at the strange ghoul. "An'thissun too!" It wasn't like West had discerned what was on them yet or would any time soon. He hoped the crazy hag choked on them.

Oh man, that lady was scarrryyyy! Tomoko whimpered, seeming to droop, looking behind her to see if Seiji, Junko, and Jove had crossed over the chasm yet, before shying towards....towards... ouuu...... She looked around with a sort of desperate look on her fact, seeking out someone to hide beh-

AHA!

It may have been the mostly single-handed task of shark-beating-up that sent Tomoko shying awkwardly towards West, seeming quite hopeful he wouldn't go into some sort of destructive rage at her gravitating. That would have probably spooked her right into the chasm. And that would have just been absolutely no good whatsoever.

However, when it came to map pieces, Tomoko frowned a bit. She didn't have any pieces of paper. However, it seemed West (There was a momentary sparkle-moment in the kitsune's mind) was well prepared with pieces of paper. So maybe they were OK. Tomoko certainly didn't want to just..keel over or get crushed by rocks or something.

There was a lot of possibility for badness to happen.
