Xypher is clearly exhausted after Winter has him fish up all those tuna earlier in the day, and is unable to retrieve anything extra in the evening.

WHAT THE JACK?

As the students are poking and prodding at the...slowly bloating corpse of the squid... something twitches. It's easy to ignore, but... then it begins to twitch more... and more... and

...

The squid eyes that have been repeatedly prodded for ink snap open and glare daggers at the students. It lunges forward grabbing ahold of Tset and Israfel before anyone can do anything.

It's clearly back with a vengeance, and looking to drown some students and sink the ship, as it's legs come crashing over, smashing and leaving dents all around. Professor Winter appears and starts putting something together with Xypher to stave off the zombie-squid... but looks there's a need to retrieve some fellow shipmates and see about getting rid of the damn thing once and for all!

SORRY CLOAK looks like that's all the ink you're getting!

Cloak was carefully counting the few vials the students had brought back to her over and over, cradling them as if they were the most precious things in the world. She mumbled a thank you to each student that handed her another one, though she paid them little attention once they'd gone to gather some more.

Maybe students were more useful than she thought!

As the squid suddenly reanimated itself and swept up more victims, Cloak only seemed partially surprised. Had she accidentally enraged sea monsters like this before? Possibly. All that anyone knew for sure is that she was quickly turning on the students again, shielding the vials of ink as she slipped away back under deck.

Winter would save them, she was sure of it.

((Thanks for helping Cloak with her uh.. research, guys! Awards are as follows:

Just as Aksaja was getting ready to poke at the squid again, it started . . . twitching. Oh Jack. That couldn't be a good sign. "Uh, guys, we might want to. Get away from this thing . . . " he murmured, backing up quickly. Unfortunately, it seemed that Israfel and one of the ghouls weren't fast enough to get away. Oh JACK. OhJack. Now it was apparently a zombie giant squid?!?!

"THIS IS WHY WE DON'T LIVE NEAR THE OCEAN, JACKDAMMIT!!" the lightning dragon yelled, backing up even faster and dodging tentacles as they flailed about. He was almost to the door that would allow him to get below deck and away from the damn thing, when he remembered what he'd told Israfel earlier. About saving him. He'd actually said he would save the Siren if he fell into the water, but . . . being eaten (or whatever) by a giant sea monster was probably worse.

Ah hell. That meant he should try to save him right? s**t.

Taking a deep breath, Aksaja charged toward the front of the ship and launched himself into the air - thankfully having gotten a chance to rest before the damn thing decided to come back to life. "Israfel!" he yelled, stretching toward the other. But he missed. Jackdammit.

It happened before he knew it. The thing came back, that thing being zombie squid. Sreaming Israfel felt all those fears of death by boat returning. The waters were curse, the teachers were evil, and sirens had no place on boats. Flailing about, The siren was trying to wiggle free, but no, he was bound and being flung about like a rag doll.

He could somewhat make out the faces of the other students, if just a bit.

"OHJACCCCCCCKKKKK-"

He was yelling a lot more then that but it was mostly garbled by fear and bird like cries.

He was sure the seagulls were laughing at him.

She knew something like this would happen! Danger seemed to an ever constant factor in their lives. It could easily have been her that was snapped up in the giant tentacles but she had managed to avoid it. Others were not as lucky. She genuinely liked Tset so this pissed her off mightily and she had just made a potential new friend in Israfel. This wasn't fair at all!

She jumped up at Tset and managed to grab her legs, dangling for a few seconds before losing her grip. She had been so close! "Just hang on," she yelled, though it was obvious that the two students weren't going anywhere or had a choice in the matter. What should she do?

Refusing to give up, the young hunger jumped back up to tear at the tentacle she had been working on. They sure didn't cover this in any of her classes! Why was it up to the students to defeat this thing anyway? Couldn't the Professor or ToTer do something? Of course, if it were ever that simple, half the trouble that happened during the course of this school year wouldn't have happened. Perhaps these were challenges, though she didn't see what she could learn from defeating a giant squid except how to defeat a giant squid.

This time, she missed the tentacle completely. The squid was on to her now and just as she was about to reach it for another slash with her claws, the tentacle flailed into the air. The students looked like ragdolls in its grasp and Rain dropped back to the deck with a gentle thud. She would wait until another student distracted it before trying again.

Sin came back on deck only to find that the giant squid was somehow alive again, ugh undead was it any wonder they were disliked? Didn't it just figure that the second she had washed up and changed something like this would happen? She frowned and looked up another two students were in the squids grasp!

She went for the rope again, after all it had worked last time...sortof. Her ankle was still a tad sore though. Sadly the rope was in knots and tangles still from the last rescue attempt. She quickly yanked it up and started trying to untangle the mess.

Rain refused to give up. She had no idea what the squid intended to do with Tset and Israfel and didn't want to wait to find out. Another student had come to join them, a demoness named Sin. With any luck, they would be able to take advantage of the squid soon. It had to be weak from the earlier beating and all the ink that had been withdrawn.

She managed to slice at the tentacle again with her claws but the foul beast didn't even seem to notice. She wasn't good in these kind of situations. She started to feel something akin to.. panic? It was strange to the undead for she usually didn't feel much at all. She was genuinely concerned for the safety of her friends.

Heh, it looked as if almost the same crew was out here trying to take down the squid again. And they'd been SO good at it last time. He just hoped this time would go as well.

"Hey guys!" he yelled, making another dive at the squid, trying to grab onto either of the two captives. "CALAMARRIIII!!" That particular word must have made the squid mad, though, because it flailed a needle-jabbed tentacle at him, forcing him to break off the rescue-run. Damn.

Alcyone was just as surprised as everybody else when the squid came back to life. "Candlejack! What in the world. How could this thing still be alive?" Looking around the deck, Alcie needed to find something to try to get the squid to release the Israfel and Tset. Damn, there didn't seem to be anything that would work. Maybe punching it would do something. She couldn't just stand around here and watch! Running up to the squid, Alcie yelled out to it, "Hey, LET THEM GO!" Why couldn't this thing just leave them alone and die?

Alcie repeatedly punched the tentacle that had a hold of Israfel and to her surprise, the tentacle seemed to release the poor Siren. "Wow. I can't believe that worked." Then she realized that there was nothing around to catch Israfel. Uh oh. The water demon held out her arms wondering if she would be able to catch him or if he was just going to slam into the deck of the ship. This trip wasn't turning out to be so kind to the monster.

It looked as if Israfel was in the process of being helped. This seemed the best time to make another attack at the tentacle holding Tset. Once again Rain jumped up and slashed at the tentacle thrashing about but this time she managed to hold on with one hand, using her claws to latch on for as long as possible. Using her free hand, she scratched and clawed at the tentacle, tearing at the fleshy substance until the small cut started to grow. While she knew she would be unable to cut the tentacle in half, she knew she could at least weaken it until it dropped her friend. When she was sure she had successfully weakened the tentacle, she dropped down to the deck below and ran over to where Tset was still being held into the air.

She tried to stay as under her as possible while calling out, "Don't worry, I'll catch you!" Of course, that was easier said than done. She wasn't sure if she really could but she was willing to try.

As predicted, the tentacle released Tset and as promised, Rain caught her. It wouldn't win any awards and her knees buckled under the weight, despite Tset being smaller than her. It had been quite a drop and her knees had popped in a grotesque way but for the most part, the two ghouls were relatively okay. At least Tset looked okay. The squid hadn't squeezed her and made her eyes pop out or anything and that was always a plus, right?

She rolled Tset off her gently so that she could check over her legs. She had to straighten one out but it wasn't in horrible shape. It had certainly seen better days but that being said, it had also seen worse days, such as when she had smashed it against a tree during the Christmas Town fiasco. What mattered was that she could still fight.

Rain crawled over to some ink that had spilled from the wounded zombie squid and ran her finger through it before drawing a straight black line under one eye and then the other. It would stain and take days to come off but she didn't care. This was a time of war.

---
Just as she finished, a tentacle hit her, rolling her backwards until she was smacked against the wall. "And I said to my mom, yes, I will have a glass of brain-aid," she mumbled incoherently, clearly disoriented from the blindsided attack.

(Squid hits Rain for 2 damage.

Rain slowly pulled herself up against the wall. She was still really dizzy but she couldn't sit back and do nothing. She took a tentative step forward, towards the squid. She really wanted to help defeat it but the earlier hit still had her in a mess. The first step went pretty well but when she brought her other foot forward, she stumped and faceplanted against the deck. The squid had managed to hurt her without even touching her that time, for she was still reeling from the first attack.

She would some more time to get herself together. At least she had managed to rescue Tset. It might be up to the others to defeat the squid. She would try again though.. when she felt a little better.

(Squid hits Rain for 1 damage.
Rain's HP: 29 [30-1]
Squid's HP: 300)
