Dylan turned just as Lunaire appeared and gave her a grin. "Yep. I was wondering where you were. Wanna go watch the circus?" he asked with a smile, holding out his arm to the butterfly girl. Cameron blushed and chuckled softly, a smile crossing his features. He squeezed Dannie's hand gently before leading th beautiful blonde away to the circus tent.

Lunaire smiled at Dylan and giggled as she took his arm. "Well of course! I haven't missed a single performance and I know Peter is going to be there. Little Annie is going to be so happy though she's a little pissed off at Katia. Then again, when isn't she." she babbled before biting her lip to make herself stop. "Sorry. I guess I'm just excited! Now hold on tight ok." she said as she made them both disappear.

A beautiful blonde elf lay on her buckskin mustang, her elegant quiver and bow hanging by her side. Her weapons were made of elegant ivory, shimmering in the light. She smiled, pearly white teeth glinting in the sunlight. A strand of light blonde hair fell across her amethyst eyes, blocking her partial vision. Quick as w ink it was tucked behind her ear, her violet eyes darting, watching the commotion. Yes, she was one of the "freaks". She could talk to animals and shape shift. Yet she didn't use her abilities for evil, she strived for good. The elf lay her head on her horse's black mane, swinging her arm up and down his dazzling buckskin coat. A dark goldenrod, with some light patches here and there, the horse was truly gorgeous. Ash. He was called Ash, named after his dark ebony mane and points.
Skye was the elf's name. Her full name; Skye Raine Starr. She was called that in honor of her elven descent, named after the sacred elven artifacts. She smiled, murmuring softly to her horse. "Ash, what would I be without you? It's been so strange after he died. . . Oh, he was the sweetest ever. And everyone seemed so appalled that I loved a dragon. What's so bad aout that?" Skye asked her horse, who gave her a look of compassion. She smiled, her amethyst eyes losing their hard anf focused look as she remembered her dragon.
He had rescued her from a witch, who had planned to stake her out and burn her as a sacrifice. The dragon was drawn to her strength and defiance through it all, not to mention beauty. He plucked her from the ground and flapped away, Skye kicking and screaming in protest the whole way. He took her to a secluded waterfall, and immediately changed into human form. Not wearing any clothes, as well. Skye, modest as she was, looked away as he explained to her why he had rescued her. When he admitted he was taken by her, she whipped out her bow and held it out, cautioning him to stay away. Skye smiled at the memory. Such a rocky start to such a truly beautiful relationship.
But soon Skye found her falling for the dragon youth as well. His dazzling silver eyes and long golden hair was truly awe inspiring. As much as she tried to hide it, he always knew. She admitted it to him soon after, and they stayed together in a cave near the waterfall. Skye smiled, stroking Ash's neck as she was lost in memory. But then the dreadful knight came. He claimed he was on a mission to slay the dragon, but Skye wanted no part of it. The knight fought her dragon, who had pushed her away to keep her safe. It all happened so fast; the knight went in for the killing blow and lodged it into the dragon's throat. Skye had snuck around and shot the knight in the back with a perfectly aimed arrow, but he had lost too much blood. Her dragon lover bestowed upon her his shape shifting abilities, along with granting her the gift of talking to animls.
Skye fell into a depression. She shuddered at the memory, and Ash felt it. Her horse nudged her, blinking his large brown eyes. Skye remembered how Ash had become her only friend, and the villagers ra her out of every town, claiming she was a "witch". But she still had Ash; a durable and caring best friend. She smiled, recalling why they had come to this particular carnival. She and Ash had argued over it, but Skye had won. She insisted they would fit in, but Ash feared for her safety. Her horse was determined to protect her, and Skye loved him for it.
Skye looked up, sitting up on her mustang's back. She watched the daily commotion, watching the couples of trapped humans and other creatures running amiss in the grounds. She felt the familiar tug on her heart; a tug of companionship only another human like person could bring. She wanted to be loved again, and loved by one she could speak with, be held with, and she could love herself. She shook her head, knowing no one could possibly want a freak who talked to animals and whose first love was a dragon.
But still, she longed for companionship. She longed for love. T a l e as old as t i m e, S o n g as old as r h y m e, B e a u t y and the b e a s t.

Madame Arabella appeared in front of Skye and she gave her a calm smile. "That's where your wrong dear. You're not a freak. None of us are. And love is such a mysterious thing. You have to have just a little bit of faith." she said as she smiled at the mustang. Though Arabella appeared young and childish, there was still a sense of wisdom from her. She knew what she was talking about and she always spoke the truth. Plus, she loved to make sure people were happy.

Boy's clothing, yes, but Skye rarely wore proper girl's clothing. She tucked a lock of golden blonde hair behind her ear that had fallen out of her ponytail. She ran her fingers through Ash's mane, than through her own ponytail. Her amethyst eyes gleamed as she smiled brightly at the younger child. "Dearest Ara. Where do you get your wisdom? It seems not so long ago my only friend was Ash here." Pausing, she smiled affectionately at her horse. She then looked back at Ara, a smile still on her face. "Alright Madame Arabella, I can see you know what you're doing," Skye said with a glint in her eye as she leap back atop Ash.
"Want to take a ride?" Skye asked, holding her hand out. She need not any reins, since Ash and her were able to communicate on an easy basis. Chris glanced over his shoulder at the sound of a horse. His parents had raised him on a ranch when eh was little before moving him to the city. He had grown close to an old horse named Pepper and still had pictures of the old black pony. "Hey, who's that?" he asked, pointing to the elf and buskin horse.

Madame Arabella grinned at Skye and chuckled. "When you've lived for centuries, you learn a few things. Besides, it's not like my wisdom truly makes sense most of the time." she said as she twirled a strand of her black hair, that shined like a raven's feather. Her crystal ball on her necklace shined dimly as she stared at the horse. "You know, I think I will. I trust Ash won't hurt me. Though I must admit, I'm more of a bird person." she said as she gracefully mounted behind Skye.

She was truly beautiful, but she was too modest to admit to it. Many men of all races have tried to win her affection, but she had fallen hard for the dragon youth, who was the best spouse anyone could ask for. The elf was no less than twenty two years old, and she was married at the age of fourteen. She no longer wore the amethyst ring, given to match her eyes, but she kept it on a silver chain around her neck. No one had asked about it; and she only gave a vague answer when they did for fear of being an outcast again.
She twisted her neck around so she could look at Arabella, and smiled, shaking her head. "Not a chance. He was the one that was there for me after- Never mind. Anyway, yes indeed. Birds are very gracious. If you have a moment in your spare time, drop by to see me and I'll give you a ride," Skye chuckled, with a wink of her violet eyes. She murmured something in elvish to Ash, and he strolled forward elegantly, but Skye muttered something again that made him halt. Her ears twitched at the sound of a voice- a man's voice, none she recognized. Since she was an elf, all her senses were sharpened. Her aim, her heaing, her sight, her scent, her touch. Everything was sharpened and she had a direct connecion with nature.
She turned, searching for the voice. She located the speaker and peered at him, her amethyst eyes analyzing the man. She turned behind her with an inquisitive look, and then nudged Ash over to the man. She looked down, then smiled. "I am Skye. I am of Elvish descent; this os my horse, Ash of the Fallen Flame, or Ash for short. And you are?" Skye asked politely, feeling her ears grow warm. She pushed it down, not wanting to appear a fool. She smiled brightly, and Ash pricked his ears, his neck arched elegantly. He nickered softly, then snorted. Skye smiled as she understood what he said. "My, my. This one's been around horses, I can tell," her mustang had said. She patted Ash, murmuring in Elvish to her horse. Ash could understand any language, but she only spoke in Elvish tongue when she didn't know whether people who exile her- or even worse- if they knew she could talk to animals. Dannie looked at Chris and then looked up at the elf riding a horse. She looked at the horse with curiousity and she smiled happily. She then looked up at the gorgeous elf girl who owned Ash but then quickly looked away. "We'll meet you at the circus tent." she said to Chris as she let go of his hand and Cameron's. She then walked off as she kept her pace steady. Madame Arabella smiled and giggled at Skye when she cut off mid sentence. "You don't have to hide that from me. I already know. But I won't force you to talk about it." she whispered to her before looking at Chris. She knew all about the humans and she gave a small wave to him. She watched as Dannie walked off and she couldn't help but grin.

Chris glanced up as the girl and her horse came over to them. He smiled at her, noticing she was an elf. Not that it mattered to him. He nodded as she introduced herself and used his free hand to stroke Ash slowly. "It's nice to meet you Skye, you too Ash. I'm Chris by the way," he said and looked at Ash. He was an impressive horse, not like the one Chris had rode when he was young. Pepper had been a stocky, chubby mountain pony but Chris had loved him anyways. Ash was different then pepper, much more elegant and muscular. Chris glanced up toward Skye and smiled brightly. "Ash is a beautiful horse," he said and waved to the woman behind Skye. Chris's gaze darted to Dannie as she walked away. Had he done soemthing to upset her? He glanced at Skye and said, "I'll be right back." He quickly raced after Dannie and stopped in front of her. What had he done to make her upset? e had been trying to be friendly like he always was. "Dannie, what's wrong? Did I do soemthing wrong?" he asked, concern in his blue eyes.

Dannie looked at Chris and she shook her head as she smiled at him. "No, you didn't do anything. I just don't want to miss a single minute of the circus. You know how impatient I can be." she said with a giggle as she gave his hand a gentle squeeze to reassure him. "Now hurry up or you just might miss something spectacular!" she said as she winked and ran off to the circus.

"Wonderful to meet you too, Chris. And thank you. I'm sure Ash thanks you as well," Skye replied, and in agreement, Ash rubbed his forehead on Chris's shoulder. Skye smiled, but told Ash to keep his manners. In Elvish of course. But she couldn't help but notice the way the girl- Dannie as she heard- looked away almost as soon as she saw her. Skye's eyebrows furrowed, then turned to look at Arabella, a questioning expression in her purple eyes. She hadn't had much experience with humans, but she could tell they were delicate creatures. They had soft feelings, very delicate. She made note of that, then sputtered out her question. "Did I do something to make that girl run away? She looked at me kind of funny," Skye asked innocently, truly being clueless.
Yet Skye pondered why Arabella knew so much about her. Ah, yes. She was a psychic, and thye knew everything, right? Perhaps that would be why. Ash stamped his hoof, becoming impatient. Skye didn't mean to eavesdrop, but with her keen hearing, she could hear eyery word if the humans' conversation. She turned fully around to look at Arabella, and she was actually sitting backwards. Ash snorted, becoming impatient, and let her know obviously that he was uncomfortable. "Ash, just calm down! I'll be done in a minute," Skye snapped, but Ash heaved a large sigh. She poked him in the side lightly, but he jumped slightly. He reached around to n** her foot, but she was already there. She grabbed a fistful of forelock, holding his head. He shook his head, losing the impatient glare in his brown eyes. To show he wasn't mad, he butted her affectinately in the leg. She stroked him, then turned back to Arabella.
"So, can anyone perform in the circus? Can we show off our abilities? I guess you already know I'm a shape shifter and can talk to animals, huh?" Skye asked curiously, tipping her head to one side. Madame Arabella jumped down from Ash as she looked at Skye. "Don't worry about the girl. She'll be fine. Though she doesn't look good in that shade of green." she said as she laughed and shook her head. She always had her own little inside jokes and didn't mind if no one else understood what she meant. She then nodded at her other questiong. "Anyone can perform as long as Sebastian knows. I would perform myself, but I don't really like showing off my gift. I like to keep it to myself." she said as she twirled the little crystal ball with her nimble fingers.

Her amethyst eyes glowed, and she lightly fingered her ivory bow that hung behind her back. The carefully crafted ivory was elegantly carved, with a string made of spider silk. Stretchy, but won't break. She had a quiver of matching arrows hanging near her hip, but there were only two. She nodded at Arabella, and then looked at Ash. "Ash and I used to run together, when I was in equine form. He would show me places where myself in my elven form couldn't see or find. And sometimes I'd be an eagle, soaring high above the trees while Ash ran below me. Oh, those were the days. But then he came very close to being captured. I was asleep, and he was asleep next to me. He awoke to the sound of rustlers whooping and hollering. I wouldn't wake up, and he was on his own. They had a rope around him when I woke up. I honestly didn't care what they thought; I shifted into a cougar's form. I attacked the riders, trying not to hurt the horses they rode. One I had to kill, for he held Ash. The others were so frightened, they just ran off. I resumed my normal form, but it was a narrow escape for me and Ash. People in my village starting accusing me of witchcraft, and I was run out, in danger. Ash and I fled all over, but here was the only place I found that was safe."
A mixture of sadness, relief, and warmth washed over the elf. She had loved doing that. Suddenly, her eyes fluttered open. "I know! I can re-enact that same scene, for an act! You know those fun house boys, Ashton, Cameron, Dylan and. . . Oh, I can't remember the last one's name! Shoot. Anyway, what if they were to be the rustlers, and Ash and I re-enacted the scene?" Skye asked hopefully, still feeling horrible about forgetting one of the boys' names. T a l e as old as t i m e, S o n g as old as r h y m e, B e a u t y and the b e a s t.
