Why is this SoA joining the pride/how long have they been in the pride?: Ayida always wandered from place to place, trying to find a place to belong but not quite finding what she was looking for. Enjoying the spiritism of the voodoo pride, she chose to stay there and do her best at the task she has been given, being a light for her fellow gatherers when they need it.

Personality: Fon Youn lives for pleasure and love, and no matter how many times he is scolded, threatened, bribed, or otherwise induced to be productive and useful, he will quickly lose interest in those tasks which are not fun and exciting. He enjoys the reverence he is sometimes afforded and will happily take advantage of it to get out of trouble and to impress ladies. Fon Youn is a party boy, and could very easily be the sort to sneak into a medsen fey's stores for some fun substances to share around to make his gatherings of friends really pop. If he gets caught or in trouble, he will squirm and cajole and generally do anything he can to get out of being punished. As for the Loa, he truly believes in them, but he has never been possessed by one, to his knowledge. He is convinced that it's because his own personality is too powerful and thus they just need to summon more awesome Loa for it to work with him.

What's their story?: Born into the pride to a young mother who really had no business being pregnant, Fon Youn was named by someone else who hoped he would grow up to display hidden depths of character that his flighty mother never did. So far he has been quite the disappointment in that respect.

Personality: L’envoi is a chilling lion with a cool personality; cool not in the ‘cold’ sense, but in that ‘awesome’ feel. He gets along with just about everyone and any specie. For him, it is all about friends rather than enemies. L’envoi is always ready for a good time.
He enjoys his work of gathering food and animals for the pride. An apt learner makes him the ideal student. L’envoi has, he found out, a knack for herding live animals to the pride. His hunting skills aren’t that bad either. Learning the plants has taken him slightly longer. He likes to be sent out for items; meat, live animals, or plants he does his job cheerfully and willingly.

Why is this SoA joining the pride/how long have they been in the pride?: ("Newer members" doesn't have to mean just-off-the-boat new--these SoA could have joined a while back; they just weren't born-in. However long ago they joined is up to you. It really depends on how much of a history they have.)
L’envoi ran across the Pepo'porojo, quite by accident, when he was a juvenile, almost young adult. At first he was intrigued by the beliefs of the lions. He stayed to learn more. Picking to become a gatherer he felt as the safest route. Anyone could hunt right? Initially he was surprised to learn that gatherers did more than just hunt. They brought back live sacrifices.
Much to his delight, L’envoi found himself fitting right in and learning the ways of the pride. They have become very thoroughly a part of him. He feels very comfortable in the pride now. heart heart The raffled lions are already going to receive items correct? Will those be pmed to us too?

I have a question about the Kongo Loa:
When you say the Kongo Loa are summoned for punishment, do you mean that the pride may summon a Kongo Loa to punish someone who did something wrong? Or is it a more personal thing, like could a Caplata summon a Kongo Loa to extract revenge on an ex-lover?

Please forgive my lack of info on the various types of Loa--there was very limited information I could find when I looked them up when this thread first opened. XD I've slowly begun gathering more info and pasting into notepad as I go, so hopefully those will be bulked up soon. Anyways, for your question, basically it's "acceptable" to summon a Kongo Loa for what we could call legal punishment, in the very rare case (we hope, lol) that one of the pride members commits a serious, serious crime, in which case the pride may see fit to physically punish that individual. And I know one of the "rules" of the pride says no killing others, so I'm still debating this, since there is no 100% guarantee that the Kongo Loa wouldn't just kill the individual it was called on to punish (they're pretty violent, apparently). And if that were the case, that would mean that there would be some rule exceptions based on the crime the individual commits--I'm still looking into it. Let me know if you (or anyone reading this) have any opinions on this. THAT BEING SAID, since that's all still a bit shaky, we know that the Bokor and Caplata aren't the most morally up-right characters in the pride, so it may very well be that a particularly daring "dark" priest/ess would summon a Kongo Loa in secret via a Poupe that was ready and willing to break a rule or two. They'd have to be willing to suffer the consequences, however, because if the Loa ends up killing the one it was sent to punish, someone would have to explain the mutilated corpse. It would be a really big deal. lol

Another question: If a Poupe possessed by a Kongo Loa did get out of control, how would you stop it? Would the Poupe have to be killed or just restrained until the spirit left?

The priest/ess can draw a Loa out just like they can put it in. The process can be more difficult depending on the type of Loa, though. Like if you get a really crazy, stubborn psychopath Ghede Loa, he might not want to leave so easily so it would take more work (I'm still doing ritual research atm). The Loa may also choose to leave on its own, however. Also, a Poupe may never be killed for any Loa-related reason. That's why things could get kind of crazy if a Poupe gets possessed by a seriously hardcore Kongo Loa, since it could wreak a ton of havoc before the priests/esses could draw it out.
I really want to type up a lot more detailed information about the summoning process. XD Including maybe even RP examples of the process, as well as typed examples of maybe the various "personality types" of the Loa so that there's a lot more information for people to work with in their RPs. I think what's gonna happen is that this thread will either be bulked up with more info before it gets official, or it'll get bulked up after. Either way, I'm planning on a lot more "stuff" being in this pride.

YourxStarlessxEyes If you're interested, I think it would be great to RP Ghislaine with him. She's a shrinekeep so he could come bother her and flirt with her, and she'd get annoyed and try to brush him off. I'm assuming he wouldn't want to take no for an answer? I feel like it would be hilarious (at least for me). xD

Personality: As a young cub she was boisterous and unruly, though a loving and caring daughter. Adolescence saw her as a rogue, a female determined to prove herself against any and all males in the pride, a risk taker and a dare devil. After her accident she became almost silent, meek and painfully withdrawn. Everything frightened her and she held great fear of being touched. Now however, she is slowly recovering some of her natural good humour and playfulness, though will ever remain a calmer, more composed and experienced lioness.

What's their story?: She was born to a well established bloodline, he parents ha both been Gatherers as had her grandparents and great grandparents. Being the only daughter born to her elderly parents, she felt a deep sense of responsibility to continue the family tradition. Her parents died when she was an adolescent, her mother passing away in her sleep from old age, her father followed his mate only a week later, dying from a broken heart. At this point the young Sanuye threw herself into her training, taking on bigger and bigger prey, seeking out bigger and bigger risks in an attempt to distract herself from her own grief. Many of the pride considered her broken from the deaths, others who knew her less thought she simply didn't care about her parents and was acting up now she wasn't controlled by them. However, her reaction had dire consequences on her life, more than just petty rumours that questioned her loyalty.. during one such hunt she came across a buffalo and decided to herd it rather than kill it. A decision that was to prove disastrous as the beast, enraged by er constant hassling, turned on her and attacked. By the time she managed to escape, she was badly wounded, and only just made her escape. She was found by one of the other gatherers and brought him slung across his back. It took months for her wounds to heal and several more before she came out of her den. By then, she had matured into the full body of a lioness but there was one difference about her that nature had never intended. She was completely blind. She was far quieter during those months that she had to re-learn her world with her paws, ears and nose, rather than relying on the use of her eyes. Jumpy and prone to fleeing when she felt someone get too close. But gradually, as the seasons turned, she slowly began to recover little bits of her self. Her sense of humour returned, thou muted now, and her fear of touch eased as she began to understand her new environment. A year after the accident, now a full grown lioness, she has taken back her old job as a Gatherer, though she sticks closer to home now, and only hunts and 'gathers' smaller prey, she has become adapt at collecting the harder-to-find roots and tubers and is often the one the priesthood go to when they want something from the ground.
