Ezekiel gave her an awkard look when she said she was Adriel's mom, but started to laugh at the antics of the ghost pokemon. "Oh, that's good.....I was fearing he met you in some bizarre way...." He had met his half-brother for the first time face to face...just as the man was running after a love-struck rapidash who had burnt most of his clothes off.

"Oh, so you are renting? Well...if they are out of Tauros, you can always take a back seat on Cooper, he is big enough to carry us both."

---
Somewhere in the forest, Darkest hour was sipping on a fruity alcoholic holiday drink with a little umbrella just as he saw a Deoxys go by ridding a tauros. "................" He looked at his drink, wondering if someone had slipped something in it.

Ridley grinned back, shaking his head, remembering the attitude of Liam's Tauros, and stepped back as the huge Pokemon materialized, amused by his flippancy. "Nice to see you too, Nitro," he murmured, glancing at Liam as he patted the Tauros, and joined Liam on Nitro's back, shrugging as he settled his hands on Liam's waist, fighting not to show his eagerness.

"Suit yourself. I hope you don't catch a cold," he said, his voice a little bit lower, his mouth next to the healer's ear. "Just head down this street and take a right, I'm a few blocks down on one of the side streets to the left. All my stuff is together, just need to put it on Soulcrusher and go," he pointed.

Jay smiled and took her extended, gloved hand and shook it in greeting. "It's nice to meet you, Miri." He said with a grin. Tsuno seemed almost frustrated that two humans where calmly introducing themselves while in his presence. Jay only smiled as he caught this feeling, this was good.
"Yeah, though it makes me wonder what the pokemon think when they see large groups of people." He said with a chuckle, imagining pokemon getting all excited over a swarm of humans.
Fubuki's waving caught Jay's attention and he turned his attention the the delibird next to Miri waved. "Why hello there Fubuki, it's a pleasure to meet you too." He said crouching down to Fubuki's level with a pleased grin.

User Image Anise grinned. "Yes, it's very useful information to know. It's a little easier to teach when we can see the plants out in the wild, so perhaps I can show you some on the way. But I can still show you a bit here. Like this, for example." She dug around in her bag, which had a number of small compartments inside and out for the various plants, herbs and medicines she kept on hand.

The pulled out a bit of paper-thin bark and said, "This is birch bark, which has the same chemical in it as aspirin, so it's useful as a painkiller. It tends to flake off from the tree in curls like this, so it's rather distinctive and easy to recognize. The bark itself can be boiled in tea or porridge, or even eaten raw. A tea made from the young leaves or inner bark of this tree can also also be used to help you fall asleep."

"Well, it's a good thing you're keeping me warm then, huh?" He replied, glancing over his shoulder at him, amused, "Your body is so hot, I don't even feel cold anymore."

The tauros snorted, starting off down the road at the sound of Ridley's instructions, ears swiveling back to listen. Despite how uninterested he seemed, the pokemon moved pretty fast down the street, much faster than they could have traveled by themselves, the sound of his hoofs sloshing in the puddles echoing in the near-empty road. Every once in a while an ear twitched, waiting for further instructions and where to stop, eyes straight ahead.

While Jay spoke to her starter pokemon, the ranger's eyes moved over and fell upon the Tauros. He didn't look pleased about being ignored, or happy to see humans in general. "You might be careful with this one," she commented, taking care to note on the bull pokemon's nature. "Despite the fact that he's a rental, he seems to be a bit fiesty. He has a bit of a temper." And with that, Miri took a few steps back and moved toward the entrance of the stables. She wanted to see how the weather was holding up, and was pleased when she saw that it had went back to a drizzle.

Fubuki grinned when Jay addressed him, his wings fluttering happily. When his trainer wandered off, he gave the blonde haired guy one last look and a wave of his wing before dashing off. The two would still be in the stables if he wanted to chat, but for now they would give Jay time to get introduced to his rental pokemon.

User ImageLisa returned to the sheltered area by Bill's house carrying a hefty looking pair of saddle bags. She had mercifully been inside the store while the downpour happened, so she was relatively dry. Bandit had reawakened and was scurrying behind Lisa, avoiding the muddy puddles but jumping into the clean ones. He was singing a merry little tune about thunder and lightning as he went (in Poke-ese, of course).

Lisa finally got to the place she'd tied up her ponyta, who was thankful it was in the sheltered area when the downpour happened. Lisa attached the saddle bags to the saddle, then remounted the horse pokemon. Bandit managed to deftly leap onto one of the hanging bags and crawl onto Lisa's left shoulder, playing look out.

Robin nodded attentively as Anise told him about birch bark, absently fighting with his hair for a few more moments before finally giving up, leaving the stray hairs to hang in midair an inch from their fellows.

"Are most plants edible," he asked his impromptu teacher, "or are there a lot that should be steered clear of, poisonous ones and so forth?"

Ridley blinked at Liam's remark, his hands sliding forward to rest on his belly, pulling him back against him slightly, watching the road and grinning against his ear. "You body-heat thief. You're gonna make me cold." He lifted his head as Nitro came towards his street. "Take a left here, guy. That's it. This is mine right here," Ridley let go of Liam, slipping off of the Tauros's back before he even stopped, heading up the front steps of the small row house, unlocking the front door.

"You can come in if you want, I'll just be a second," Ridley told Liam, pausing for a moment before heading indoors and going up a narrow flight of stairs to one of the back bedrooms and getting all of the stuff he'd pieced together for the trip, and Soulcrusher's pokeball.

"Yeah, well, you've got plenty to spare! You and those muscles of yours, making me feel like such a weakling."

The healer watched as Ridley slid off the back of the pokemon, already dashing up the steps, and he sat up a bit, making no move to dismount. He got the distinct feeling the rocket didn't want him coming, whether for good reason or not, and he didn't feel like messing things up for a two-minute trip. "That's fine, I'll stay here with Nitro -- I'd hate to return him only to release him again a few minutes later," He replied easily, waving a hand as Ridley disappeared. The pokemon snorted again, watching the black-haired boy leave and blinking slowly, turning his attention back down the street towards the pokemon center, stomach rumbling loudly. Liam rolled his eyes, snickering a bit and reaching back into his pouch to grab an apple, sticking it in the tauros' mouth. "You pig. I swear you just ate this morning."

Ridley returned outside momentarily, locking the door to his house and releasing Soulcrusher from his pokeball and grabbing his halter, stroking his big head. He slung the packs over the Tauros's muscular frame and mounted him, nodding at Liam and smirking as he noticed that Nitro was munching, making Soulcrusher jealous.

"Thanks for waiting, Liam. The ranch is just out this way, it's a really nice ride," the Rocket smiled, urging his spotted Pokemon forward, his hands loose on the shaggy fur on Tauros's back, controlling Soulcrusher with his seat. He had obviously spent time bonding with and learning about the Pokemon, and they had reached a quiet understanding. The bull started forward and grunted, swinging its double-barbed tails, glancing over at Nitro.

((@Whoever feels like making conversation in Bill's House.))

User ImageKary was still in the stables with Boss the Tauros when the downpour came round. She went over her supplies once more during the heavy rain, and Boss only paid her mind when he smelled the treat bag that had been removed from her backpack. Kary didn't want to waste them, but she also was a softie and wanted the rental Pokemon to like her, so she gave him one of the little pellets that were the treats. Satisfied, Boss went back to pretending like she wasn't even there.

When the rain let up, the smell of food wafted through the damp air. Perpetually hungry, the chubby trainer pondered going into rancher's house. He'd come around earlier and told her that she could come inside and get something to eat if it was too cold out, but she declined in favor of calming her nerves via compulsive check. But, now that that had been taken care of (for what she told herself was the last time), Kary was tempted to go get some of that food he mentioned.

"You wouldn't mind if I left for a little bit, would ya, Boss?" She asked, looking at the Tauros. He just stared at her. "Guess not... If I left my stuff here, would you guard it?" Kary wasn't expecting a response, but she actually got one this time. Boss trotted casually from where he was to lie down next to, practically on top of, her impossibly stuffed backpack protectively.

"Wow," She mumbled, then the chubby trainer beamed at him, "Thanks! I'll be back in a bit~!" With that, she headed out of the stables and wandered over to the house, hoping the invitation was still open even though the rain had let up.

Once inside, Kary made her way to the finger food and picked at it politely, looking to maybe make some light conversation with the other guests in the house.

User ImageQuick as it came, the rain had let up, and Corn had slipped out of the stables again into the open air. Weird weather, but nothing she wasn't used to, coming from an area with frequent and occasionally nonsensical weather changes.

For all the rain and damp, the ground's still surprisingly solid. Corn decides it might be a good time to practice riding the Onix, and lets him out to do so. After a little difficulty she climbs up and sits in the carefully padded sadle, and asks "Would you mind going around the field a few times...?" The Onix, surprisingly docile and cooperative, obliges and takes her around as she gets tries several ways to sit (lean back, hold on for dear life), change direction and speed (asking seems to work fine), and other sundry details of riding.

Jay, still crouched, looked up at Miri as she spoke words of caution. With a simple nod Jay replied. "I know, I'm used to dealing with feisty and stubborn pokemon." He stood once again and looked to Tsuno with a soft smile. You could say he has a way with pokemon. Being able to understand the feelings of a pokemon he had a knack for calming, taming, and making pokemon happy, even if it took time. Jay had plenty of experience back home. Though he had never owned a pokemon his parents had some and Jay had always been around pokemon. After all, it's hard to not be around pokemon when your home is a combo between a daycare and a shelter.
Jay gave Fubuki a wave in return and turned back to Tsuno. Even though he was making progress, he wasn't sure how long he had to get Tsuno to let him ride on his back.
Deciding to take the risk Jay nimbly climbed over the stall gate. This seemed to be the line that Jay was not to cross as Tsuno reared, flailing his front hooves. Jay didn't react, other than moving to the side an instant before he was kicked in the head. Jay spoke soft words to Tsuno as he turned his great head towards Jay, nostrils flaring. Jay was still calm, despite having just escaped a blow to the head that would have hospitalized him. Continuing his soft words Jay took a step towards Tsuno, who reared again at the approach.

Nitro gave Soulcrusher a longer glance than he did Ridley, munching his apple contentedly, much more eager to do what his trainer wished now that he had a nice treaty snack. He was familiar with the other tauros, having been together with him in the wagon train, and therefore didn't mind following nor walking next to Soulcrusher, keeping pace with him.

Liam grinned, quirking an eyebrow at Ridley. "Where was I gonna go? I don't know where this place is," he replied, laughing a little, this time with a bit less deprecating humor. "I think it'd be a lot nicer if it wasn't raining," he added after taking a long look at the packs the rocket had brought, wondering but not asking what was in them. Instead, he straightened again, tucking his legs up to hook his feet over Nitro's back, more comfortable than letting his legs dangle. A trick he'd learned, while growing up in tiny Cherrygrove. There was only a few things to do in his home-town, very few, in fact -- care for the trainers who came through, and ride.

Reaching up to grab Ridley's hat, he extended his arm, offering it back. "I think this is yours."
