Alex walked through the crowd not really paying attention to where he was going. His thoughts were focused on Victor. The teen wasn’t sure what to do about the vampire. As his thoughts ran by, his reached up to touch his neck, faintly feeling Victor’s fangs against his skin. He quickly put his hand down, pushing the memory away. Fate chose that moment to have him run into someone. Alex blushed faintly. “Sorry about that..” He said backing up to see that it was Darren. “It’s ok, just watch where you are going Alex.” The goth nodded his head. “Yea I will. Catch ya in gym.” He said walking by Darren. He didn’t want to talk to the soccer star first thing in the morning. “Are you ok Alex?” Concern was evident in the boy’s tone, which surprised Alex. “Yea, I’m fine.” Darren seemed to be disappointed by the answer and gave a nod walking off to his class.
‘Why is Darren acting concerned for me? Does he really care or is he playing with me? He never talked to me this much before..Maybe he really is nice. Victor doesn’t want me near him.’ The thought stopped Alex in his tracks. ‘No..I don’t care what Victor thinks. I can do what I want.’ He gave a small huff and continued walking down the hall. Truthfully he wasn’t sure what to do with Mr. Popular. He thought about just talking with the other boy and seeing how it went. “That might be a good idea..” He mumbled to himself.
Victor’s class was first on the schedule, so Alex walked into the classroom keeping his eyes set in a neutral gaze. He didn’t smile at Victor or wave to him like he normally would. He walked to his seat, which was still in the back of the classroom. He noticed that there was another student in the class, which was unusual. Not one other student came early to art class except Alex. The photographer didn’t recognize the student either. Once he was seated he started looking through the pictures he took just that morning. The sunrise pictures were so beautiful that Alex wanted to try to paint the picture. He couldn’t do it in class, since the class was going to be about finishing their rock sculptures.

Dominick continued to stare into Victor's back. His dark eyes finally moved over to Alex as he sat down next to him. He didn't say anything, he just went back to staring at Victor. There wasn't anything to read in his eyes. They were blank as he stared. Finally Victor turned around and met the teen's gaze. He sighed as he moved to his desk and dug out a piece of stone for the new student and the carving tools. As he neared him, Dominick's eyes widened. Victor set the stuff on the desk in front of him. "Alex, would you please explain to Dominick here what we're doing with the stone?" He asked and quickly turned around and walked away. He didn't want to be around either of the two teens that sat next to each other. He had hurt one and the other knew what he was with just one look. Victor took roll then went around the class to help the students out. He was trying his hardest not to go over to the two. He really didn't want this today or any day. Things liked to pile up on him. "They're all over the place." Dominick mumbled as he glared at Victor.

Alex studied his picture as the class filed into their seats. To go back to the sunrise instead of being in the darkness, is what the teen wished. He thought of that to be a title for the picture. Hearing Victor’s voice pained the boy slightly. “Sure thing Mr. Chase.” He replied in a soft voice. The photographer set aside his camera and other belongings before getting up to get his set of supplies.
When Alex returned with two masks and his tools he raised an eyebrow at Dominick’s sentence. “What are all over the place?” He asked curiously handing the student a mask. “By the way my name is Alex as Mr. Chase said, and you are Dominick correct? Are you new to the school?” Alex asked the innocent questions as he put his own mask on.
“We are taking these carving tools and carving a symbol or a small picture into the rock. Choose whatever you want to do, just be careful when using the tools. We’ve already had a student cut herself, since she was being careless. It was a mess..” He trailed off his thoughts as he went to his own carving. He noticed that Victor wasn’t making his full rounds around the classroom. It seemed he was staying away from the two in the back. Alex didn’t care, he focused on his rock.

Dominick nodded. "You mean you don't know?" He asked Alex. He slipped his own mask on and glanced back at the teacher. "She did? What... what did the teacher do? Did he..." Dominick stopped there. "Listen," Dominick began, whispering. His voice was already muffled by the mask. "your teacher, he's not human. He's a vampire." He mumbled to him, his eyes shooting over at Victor. Victor just stared at the two in the back. He could easily hear what they were saying. He knew that Dominick knew about him with just a look. He wasn't surprised. The kid looked worn out, like he had been moving from place to place. Not only that but the kid had a few visible vampire bite marks on his neck. Dominick looked over his stone and then at the tools. Carefully, he picked one up and began on the rock. His eyes moved from it to the teacher.

Alex just gave a shrug as he worked on his rock. He paused when Dominick whispered. It was hard to concentrate with sharp tools when one has to strain his ears to listen. Vampire. The word made him almost drop his tools in surprise. “A vampire? You’ve gotta be kidding me…They aren’t real Dominick..” He whispered back getting back to work on his rock.
How did Dominick know about vampires and more importantly about Mr. Chase? Alex glanced over to the boy. He did notice some markings around his neck, but didn’t want to believe they were vampire marks. He was just trying to delude himself into thinking that Dominick had an overactive imagination. Deep down he knew that Dominick knew the truth, but he still didn’t know how.
He watched Dominick start his stone. “You really should keep your eyes focused on your rock and tools. Not the teacher. That is a good way to get cut.” Alex said.

"Yes they are." He glanced over at Victor. His dark eyes slowly moved from the teacher to Alex. Thanks to the other teen, Dominick dug his tool into the rock and purposely moved it off to the side quickly, cutting the soft flesh of his hand. Just as the blood began to ooze out, Victor went rigid and looked over at the two in the back. Meeting eyes with Dominick, he looked to his hand and caught the sight of blood. Mouth running dry, mind clouding, Victor was trying to keep himself from going over and licking up what had spilled. The teen smiled as he saw the teacher's reaction. "Look at him. He can't keep his eyes off the blood." Dominick raised his hand. "Mr. Chase, I cut my hand." Getting to his feet, he showed the teacher the cut. "Alex, please help Dominick with his cut." Victor turned his back to the two quickly after and shut his eyes tight. He couldn't concentrate on anything. The smell and the sight of the blood filled his head.

Alex’s eyes widened as he saw Dominick cut himself. He put down his tools, but didn’t move to help the boy. What was he planning to do? It was such a foolish act to cut himself. Then again he was proving a point. Alex noticed that Victor’s body froze and he knew that the vampire’s eyes were on Dominick’s blood.
“Why are you doing this Dominick?” He asked right before Dominick announced he cut his hand. The teen frowned watching the two stare at one another. If Dominick tries to excite Victor more it won’t turn out good. Who is this kid?
“Sure thing Mr. Chase.” Alex responded grabbing Dominick’s hand and guides him to the sink. He turned the water on to be lukewarm. He added soap to make sure it didn’t get infected. “Here are some bandages to use once you are finished.” The photographer took some paper towels to their table to clean the tool of the boy’s blood as well.
The bell rang a few minutes later, so Alex went about cleaning their table of the tools and rocks. He waited for Dominick to come collect his things. “Did you need help finding your other classes?”

"To prove my point." Dominick narrowed his eyes at Victor as Alex led him over to the sink. He washed the cut, the tool, had gone pretty deep into his hand. He meant to draw a little, not go that deep. But his point was made. Victor glanced at the table with the drops of blood and watched as Alex cleaned it up. He was thankful for him. "Sure." Dominick picked up his things with his other hand. He slung his backpack over one shoulder and glanced at Alex's neck. Again, his eyes narrowed. Once they were outside the class, Dominick touched Alex's neck, just where the scars from Victor's bite was. "Liar. You knew what I was talking about. So who did this?" He poked Alex's scar again. The teen didn't move from where he stood.

“To go that far to prove a point doesn’t seem worth it. You cut yourself.” Alex frowned watching Dominick. He really didn’t like him. The kid was bad news to the photographer. He glanced at Victor before leaving the classroom. There wasn’t enough courage in himself to talk to the vampire. He might talk to Victor later or run away again.
Alex froze feeling Dominick’s fingers on his neck. He shifted his body away from the touch and turned to look at the teen. He knew that the other found the scars, but there was also a hickey there. “What do you mean? It’s a hickey.” He pushed away Dominick’s hand looking irritated, since he was poked for a second time. The photographer couldn’t sell out Victor even if he was mad at him. Dominick had knowledge of vampires and of Mr. Chase. He didn’t know what this boy was up to or who he is.
“Let’s get to class before the bell rings. This way.” Alex tried to walk around Dominick.

"It's not just that." Dominick didn't move even as Alex urged him on to their next class. He reached out and grabbed Alex's arm, keeping him from moving. "you can't say that the scar there is just a hickey. I know a scar from a vampire bite anywhere." Dominick pulled down the sleeve of one arm and showed Alex all the bite scars on his arm. "I've been bitten a lot more than just this. My whole body is covered in them. That man in there, though I don't know how he can be out during the day, is a vampire. A blood sucking fiend!" Dominick let Alex's arm go and pulled down his sleeve. "I'm not crazy. I've moved so much because of them." He walked a head, leaving Alex behind him.

Alex paused a bit annoyed that Dominick wouldn’t let the issue go. He tried to walk on down the hallway, but couldn’t move thanks to the hand holding him. “What do you mean it’s a scar?” He asked meekly. He tried to make it seem like it was still just a hickey. Dominick proved to him that it wasn’t. He looked at the scars amazed and horrified. How could that happen to a boy? Why were there so many?
He was shocked by the news of the numerous amounts of scars on Dominick’s body. The questions popped into his head again and almost slipped out of his mouth. Then Alex started to get angry when he was calling Victor a blood sucking fiend. ‘He’s not that bad of a guy…’ Subconsciously Alex reached up to touch the scar on his neck. Twice the vampire had bitten him without permission. ‘I really don’t understand him.’
“I don’t believe you’re crazy…” He said softly as he walked beside him. “Why did you have to move around so much?” Alex still didn’t like Dominick all that much, but he was someone he could talk to.

"Because of all the attacks. I've hadn't had a steady home in about four years." Dominick made sure his sleeves were down to his wrists. "Every time I was bitten, it was at night." He was confused as to why Victor was out and about during the day even though his suspicion was true. "I've heard of talk about things to let vampires wander around during the day. Is it true?" He asked Alex, not sure if he even knew what was going on with vampires. "So what leech gave you those marks?" Dominick didn't believe the whole act Alex was putting up.

“Isn’t it strange though, that you are always attacked no matter where you move.” It was a curious observation that teen made thinking over Dominick’s situation. He fiddled with a strap on his backpack as the two walked to class. He noticed that the other boy kept his sleeves down, no doubt to cover all the hideous scars from prying eyes.
“You say that the man in there, Mr. Chase is a vampire right? Well if that’s true then there has to be something in existence that allows creatures of the night to walk in the light. Like he is doing right now.” Alex explained. He would never talk about the synthetics and pills that he has seen the vampires take. Nor would be let on how much he really knew.
Alex shuddered, “Please don’t say leech. It’s a creepy visual.” He sighed a little, “Besides how would I remember? It happened awhile ago. I found the marks, but don’t remember the maker.” He said in half truth. He did pass out when Victor first bit him and he wouldn’t have remembered the event if he woke up at home instead.

Dominick snorted and fixed the strap of his messenger bag. "I don't know how he can walk around during the day. But he is a vampire. There's no doubt about it. His eyes change colors. The way he reacted to the smell of blood. His back was turned when I cut my hand! I could SMELL it!" The teen sighed and pushed past some students that walked past them. "But you can't prove that it's not a bite from one of them. Your scar looked exactly like mine. I know what bit me so that means the same thing that bit me, bit you." Dominick stopped Alex then moved some of his hair out of the way to show the scar. He pulled up the sleeve of his shirt and held up his arm, comparing the two scars. "Same marks. Very similar imprints of the teeth. You just don't want to admit it. And why you're protecting that one, I have no idea. But you can't convince me that he isn't a vampire because he is." Dominick walked into their next class room. He sat close to Alex, waiting until the bell rang to run up to him. "Let's eat lunch together." He wanted to talk to Alex about the vampires some more. Dominick practically dragged Alex outside and to a shady spot under a large tree. Sitting down, he pulled his lunch from his bag. "So why do you deny their existence? Everybody does, but that's because they've never been face to face with one before. You have.... haven't you? Seen one up close when their fangs extend, their eyes cloud over with blood lust and the feeling of the blood being sucked from your body. Horrible feeling, isn't it?" Dominick looked away from Alex for a moment. "They're all cruel creatures, vampires. They only know blood and violence. They know no mercy, love, compassion. They're all monsters." Dominick clearly had never met any of them like Alex had. He only knew of the ones that followed Victor's brother. The ones that kept to the way of the old.

Alex glanced at the boy as he started to shout in the hallway. The other students were giving Dominick and he funny looks as if to say that kid was insane. True to his word, he didn’t think Dominick was crazy, but it did seem like he had an obsession about vampires that was very unhealthy for the youth. Alex held still when Dominick stopped him to look at his neck, which felt like the fiftieth time in just the past hour. “Being in the dark about certain things isn’t so bad Dominick. Plus I’m not trying to convince you of anything.”
Class time was to get Dominick off his back for at least fifty minutes. Alex knew he couldn’t tell him anything of what he knew, but he had that conflict to want to be friends with him. This was the first boy of his age that wanted to talk to him in such a long time. ‘Victor…what am I to do?’ He sighed as the class bell rang knowing that Dominick was going to interrogate him again. Not to his surprise, the boy dragged the photographer outside to each lunch together.
The only thing for lunch that Alex grabbed that morning was a nature valley bar. He started to break it apart while still inside the wrapper so not to make a mess. “I told you Dominick that when I got these marks I don’t remember who it was. I remember pain and I blacked out.” He ate a small piece of his snack listening to the boy go on. Honestly he was feeling bad for Dominick now. This boy seemed to have gone through torture with whatever vampires plagued him.
“You know, every species has good and bad traits. Take humans for example. Not all of us are good and not all of us are evil. So why not the same for vampires? I know that seems crazy for creatures that suck are blood to be friendly, but I’m just saying there is compassion and love even if the ugliest of monsters.” Alex felt like he was pushing his limits with Dominick. He knew the boy was one sided with the whole evil vampire thing. He ate another piece of his snack.
“Have you ever…” At that moment a soccer ball smacked into the tree falling into Alex’s lap, who had shielded his head. “Sorry!!” Called a familiar voice to the goth. Darren was running to retrieve his ball. “My teammate put too much power in his kick. Didn’t hurt you or anything right?” He asked a bit apologetic. “No Darren.. just be more careful with people around.” The soccer star gave a laugh rubbing the back of his head, “Yea especially with you Alex.” He looked down at the photographer with a strange look in his eye as Alex lowered his head so his bangs covered his eyes to cover the slight blush and shock he showed. He threw the ball to Darren who was looking at Dominick with curiosity, but grinned as if hiding his thoughts. “I’m Darren by the way. You’re that new student right? Nice to meet ya.” His buddies were calling him back and he grinned again as he waved at the two running over to his group.
Alex shook his head getting his bangs out of the way. “That’s a jock for you.” He kept eating his snack.
