Yes, that is good by me. Also, this is a perfect example of what I am looking for. Imagination to give off-beat animals a chance, while letting imagination go free!

This is just a somewhat... off-beat question, but if the animal is say, an 8 foot long tiger, how does that midpoint size work?

and are the animal traits the character keeps up to be determined by the rper? I mean, the midpoint characters could range from a fuzzy werewolf type thing, to a human with little pointy wolf ears.

In the case of animals that walk lengthwise, as in the case with a tiger, the length is taken for height. Assuming the 6 foot human, a tiger that is eight feet from muzzle to hindquarters (not including tail) shifter would become a seven foot midpoint, though just as comfortable on all fours as on two feet.

I'm also thinking of making a punk porcupine. His hair would stiffen and spread down his back.

If the human form has hair shaved, the porcupine will have shorter hair in those places. If the quills are affected, so be it. If he sports a mohawk in human form, he will have a stripe of longer quills down his back, and shorter ones over the rest of his animal form.

Storyline is complete and getting reviewed by a second pair of eyes now. Given her approval, I will send out invites to those interested in the storyline . . . and I beg that others be told of the guild. I really want this thing to thrive.

Anybody know a good group of Thearians to invite? sweatdrop

I really don't want to go into the sea of asshats that is Barton for recruits.

I have a question.

Should chiton's animal forms be kept relatively small, or can they be more on the massive side?
PostPosted: Tue Feb 16, 2010 8:05 am

As the most a person can change is 50% change, a six foot man would turn into a three-foot wasp. The rule applies to all animals. Take the normal size for the animal, and the size of your human form, and you can go as far as half the size of man into the animal form.

Meaning you will have 3 foot long bugs, and 9 foot tall elephants.

I'm sorry, I didn't phrase my question correctly. sweatdrop
I guess I'll be more specific to make things clear.

I'm making a profile for the chiton empress, who is (of course) a bee. Since she's sort of the 'queen bee' I think it would be fitting to make her animal form larger than her regular form. So my question is, is that possible, or must the animal form for chitons must be smaller than their human form?

Edit: Are shifters lifespan the same as humans? If so, do they develop at the same pace?
PostPosted: Tue Feb 16, 2010 8:42 pm

Shifters are typically carried to term and born human. That remains the case until age six, where shifting abilities begin to manifest. See the early pages of this thread for more details on that. As for lifespan, Shifters have very similar lifespans to humans, averaging around 75 or so.

As per your question, no. Royalty does not affect the shifting process. Your queen bee would be about three feet long in animal form, about 4.5 feet in midpoint. While dramatics would say yes, that would be fitting, such does not keep with the ideology of the Shifters. Espically when the Empress can be overthrown. Usurping the Royalty does not make the change process different. Sorry. sweatdrop

The midpoint is just that- halfway between animal and humanoid. Not just a pair of fuzzy ears. Think the hulking werewolf as a base. He didn't stop with tail and ears, now did he? wink

Using your komodo dragon as an example, Legs and arms would shorten and thicken, but remain homonid. Skin would toughen and become rough, teeth pointy and space out, eyes become beady, and a thick tail about two feet in length would extend. Due to the similarity in height/length in human/dragon forms, not much would change in overall size.
