first of all, i LOVE heart the idea of a "ferry" that takes you around the world, that gives you a lot of options and encompasses almost all of the ideas. now, pixel i meant that a tournament could BE the theme, and the winner of the tournament at the ball would take home some kind of trophy. i apoligize for the confusion with my last post. gaian's in wonderland could be pretty great if we went with it my idea, how about we do something like "proffesor layton and the curious village" (the game for the nintendo DS) where we move the plot forward by solving puzzles and riddles. however, on the around the world idea we could easily incorporate some riddles and puzzles into numerous places so....... eh

Err..I cant remember who mentioned it (too much words in one day @_@) but I actually do feel a little neglected with all the american stuffs lol...I'm not American...I'm from a country that's a culture pot, so I mix with 4-5 different races everday; but I attend an American school and visit US every year lol but even so, I'm more of a culturally rounded person....Around The World might allow us to use different cultures into the ball; also possibly allow people to learn a bit more of other cultures (other than Japanese and American lol)
whoosh, at the rate this thread is going, we'd have to read so many posts everyday XD
Well, as to what I think of all the possible problems of running, perhaps we should solve that when we know what we're doing? right now we're running around like headless chickens picking a theme,a nd picking the theme will bring up more system and organization problems so we have multiple stuffs going on. I think we should slow down and pick at this one by one...@_@ ...That's how I feel anyway...haha <_<;

in a 'round the world theme, (with each room a destination), ther could be seperate events and whatnot for each room...
and im thinking we should keep the original ones. if we change it, the destinations will be "common" places people already know about, and i think we all agree learning about different cultures is half the fun here biggrin

I liked Val's spots because they had themes for each location, Not just the location itself. Also, we might not want to go TOO out there with the countries if we do this. People might be more likely to participate if they at least knew a little about the place they'd be partying.

Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if I had to perish twice,
Valiae says...>> I agree with Angel, but that's probably just because it was my idea in the first place XD Also, I've seen a lot of people agree that they like the Gaians in Wonderland theme, but no elaborations on it. I'll be sure to post some more when I get a chance (even though I'm not really that up to date with the story. ~The Rabbit Hole ~Un-birthday Tea Party ~The Queen of Hearts/Red Queen's Castle/Garden (I'm pretty sure that everything with her happened outside, but we could stretch it to be a castle instead) ~Magical Forest
Other than that, I'm not too sure of the events in the book. Crush and comment? I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice. ~Robert Frost

If we do do the around the world in 80 days we will need to make sure the people who research the rooms do "proper" research as well and use "credible sites". This would be a good way to keep people around and from going inactive, because they would actuially need to put some effort into the planning of each room. If we don't know alot about one place, it would be best to do the proper research on the culture and festivities, so we don't get them wrong or end up offending people.

Yeah, we would have to be incredibly accurate. We really don't want to offend anyone...

That is why we can do the 7 continenets: North America South America Australia Europe Asia Antarctica Africa
You could also add the following: -Central America (the land link between North america and south america) -India (sub-continent) Also you could do the artic.

I wonder, do we HAVE people from all the different continents? Because, if we did, it would be fun to have (most, as I have a sneaking suspicion that there more people here from only a few continents) people work on the thread that pertains to their own continent, as it would come out a lot more accurate.
If we didn't, I'd have to go with Psycho Sabs, we really would need to be incredibly accurate. Or at least accurate enough that we don't cross some line we didn't know existed and make fools of ourselves. I don't think anyone really wants to offend people.
So, I'm kind of confused now... I've heard people saying we start off in one place and open up threads (continents) a day at a time, and I've heard people say that we're gonna open them all at the same time and then move the "airship" from continent to continent as the days progress... I'd like a little clarity here if someone could oblige me! razz
Also, on the Gaians in Wonderland idea, to expand on Val's ideas, we could have a Party with the Walrus and the Carpenter( beach party!), and at The Caterpillar's Mushroom (maybe).

@Kala: There's not a whole lot to clarify, just a ton of ideas being thrown out there and elaborated on. XD
I don't think we have people from all the continents, but I'm sure with enough research we could pull it off.
I also don't think that we should limit it to just the continents. There are so many ways that Europe or Asia could go..

Pros and cons/my opinions for the two big ideas that I'm seeing! ^__^
For the big around the world in 80 days/celebration idea, we really have work hard at it and make sure everything is reasonably smooth and such. I think it'll be really impressive if we manage to get that going. However, as said before, there will need to be a lot of research to make sure our information is accurate and people CANNOT be inactive if we are to succeed. I myself just hope that we don't get too carried away in trying to go too big in incorporating all those ideas. That's probably one of the main difficulties, but we have lots of creativity available. If we make sure we really stay focused and concentrate on it, then I say go for it.
I'm really fond of the Gaians in Wonderland, too. Although it's on a bit of a smaller scale and I'm not sure if it will make as big of a splash versus the other theme, it could be just as enjoyable. I think it's a lot more simple and would be slightly easier to plan out, but people could probably slack off and be inactive due to that. Also, we may won't have as much creative room to expand and add to it since there is already a set story/setting/etc.
Yeah, I think the first idea is shaky but it would awesome, and the second one is simpler but maybe not as big as some might like.

Crystal brings up a good point. Last ball we had serious issues with inactivity. How will we fix that?
