Gypsum, who had remained quiet while trying to figure out what exactly to do with a highly combustible spirit in a jar, debated whether or not to finally speak up.
"They're completely right," he deadpanned, staring at the bag lying innocently (and vibrating ever so slightly) in his lap. "Fathers... Fathers don't know s**t." Gyp dug his nails into the ground. "They don't know s**t, and they don't give it. As far as they're concerned, you do what they say, and that is how the world goes."

Angela's lips curved into a dry smile. The situation was suddenly far more amusing to her than it had been. "Is there anyone here who has a father who is not a selfish git, a useless prat or an all around evil individual? Please raise your hand now."
"I do!" Des said, raising his hand.
Angela reached into her back and threw a water bottle straight at his face. "Shut it, Pointy."
She glanced at Gyp, feeling a bit sorry for him. She got up and went to sit beside, lightly bumping him with her shoulder. "Cheer up," she told him. "Just think. You're a strange world with a bunch of weirdos you don't know and a murderous fluff trapped in your satchel after having been attacked by weird shadow dogs. At this point, the situation can only get better, right?"

Gyp shrugged as he stood and looked at the jumbled group.
"Or.... you've horribly jinxed us all," he replied with a slight smirk; he hadn't meant to make it so much more serious all of a sudden. "Oh and she--" he held the bag up "--or she--" he pointed at the other Fluff "--don't have one, according to her...ah... previous self; I kind of raised her, anyway. So that's a count of three?"

"My fathers are gits but my mother was a really wonderful person," Angela said. "I suppose she makes up for their failings somewhat."
"Both of my parents are fabulous people," Des asserted. "Haven't seen them in years but they're still fabulous poeple."

"I do not have one, either," Toshi decided to add in and point out.
When Zen started talking to him, he, unconciously, took a few steps back from him, eyeing him warily. He frowned as everyone started talking about their fathers and soon ended up hiding behind Toshi again. "If you say so. . . ."

"Four, then. My mother... yes, she was definitely a good person, compared to an angel, by most anyone. Arranged marriage though, it killed her. She was possibly the only one I knew to be that good, except for..." He paused, and glanced again at the bag, and the other Fluff. "...Well, they're both dead anyway. Kaa-san died of some sort of cancerous disease 'round when I was five. Never was sure what it was. Ran away pretty soon after, became an entertainer and eventually...ah... found the Fluffs. Back when they were one person, anyway."

"Of course not," Des said. "But there's a huge multiverse out there to see. I'll go see them eventually. They'll still be there but until then I'm going travel and learn new songs, see new things."

Seeing that Inutai had retreated behind him once again, Toshi could only sigh. "It seems to me Inutai does not trust many of you, if any. Perhaps, even. . . scared. If you will, please try to be careful of what you say or do around him."

Zen hissed cynically in reply to Des. "Of course you are... you are young..."
He regretted it instantly, and sat silently. Ah to be young and hopeful again.
The red head still loved adventure and exploring, but he knew better than to assume anything would still be around for long.

"People or Fluffs, however you'd like to say it. Nimue takes on the corporeal body by night, Sin takes it by day. It switches every once in a while, to their subconscious fancy, it seems. And they used to be one person... she was killed. Murdered, in fact. And her spirit apparently split into the Fluffs from it. And--" he added, "there's no body involved, just the Fluffs. She had a pet...bird thing... and that was probably the mature form of one of those--" he made a offhand wave from the bag to the fluff, again, "--and her body is still where I had to leave it, I believe. Magic-s**t, don't you love it?" Gyp frowned as he returned to staring blankly at the bag.
"And yeah, it gets even more complicated too. After all this time, I still haven't figured out how or why it happened, or even how it works...This two-Fluff thing, for one, has only happened a couple of times, with different results each time, so I'm rather worried. And, as we ar--were constantly on the run from the authorities, we don't have much time to figure it out."

"You're on the run as well?" she asked with a rueful smile. "It seems like the only things we all have in common are lousy fathers and being on the run." She flicked her eyes at Toshi.
"You know," she said, "If you continue to shelter the boy, he's never going to learn what people are really like. It's better for him to be frightened of us now and gradually learn we're not bad people than for us to tip toe around trying not to frighten him for as long as we might. Eventually he's going to have to accept that people are unpredictable and sometimes scary."
She turned back to Gyp. "Sounds like a rather burdensome responsibility for you to carry alone--carrying for those two..."

Des laughed heartily. "Well I suppose there are beings out there that would consider me young. But I've been traveling for nearly two thousand years. I'm not that young."

It always hurt for people to be afraid of him, but Zen knew it was for the better that way.
"You are too." Zen smiled, at Des and then looked at Gyp with pity. "Would you like some help?"

"She's right, you know," He addressed the man. "Sheltered only made me feel stupid on the streets. It completely screwed me over too."
"And yes, I am, and it's been difficult... She was my little sister." He paused. "Not literally, or else that would be slightly awkward with my br--Kurokai being with her. But yes, she's my sister, and I can't just give up on her like that...There has to be a way to bring her aback, or at the very least, bring her to peace.
"And difficult it may be, but at least I've kept Sin from killing any.. err, many more people. She goes after humans, you know, or even those who she sees abusing others. It's all rather weird how her thought pattern goes when she chooses.. victims... and very, very difficult to stop her. But I shouldn't complain." Gyp hesitated again.
"It's not as if I'm only on the run for her crimes, after all."
