Peter didn't know what to say. Well, now I know not to compliment her unless it's on the Quidditch field. His eyes were wide as he looked at Beck, her face looked as if it was going to be in a permanent scowl.
"Well Beck, your in the Great hall, it's full of people, and if you duck down real short, your dorm mates might not be able to see you as you make a grand escape.." Sounding a tad bit of a evil villian, Peter couldn't help but smile, her comment going in one ear and out the other, barely registering in his preoccupied mind.
He was about to say another thing, probably some sort of plan for a grand prank, when Zenobia came barrelling through the great hall. His eyes were wide, really wide, almost as if he had just seen a ghost with a clown suit on.

"Z-Ze....Wow.." Without saying another word, Peter began to shake rather violently, his arms wrapped around his stomach. He could have bet that the other two Gryffindors would have taken a few moments before realizing that he was laughing, and attempting to hide it. After another moment, he could not contain it, and began to laugh hysterically. Ze's compliment towards both him and Beck, Beck being severely irritated, and Ze trying to find an excuse for being late. It was all to funny, in his mind, to contain.
They must think I am severely insane, but it is to funny! I doubt they realize, but they look so different with dresses! I should be stunned, they are beautiful, but I would never have pictured Ze in a dress! Beck, I wanted to picture her in a dress, but I never thought that Ze would be caught dead in a dress. However, her hair is rather nice...Anyways, it is very entertaining..

"I-I....I'm so sorry.." Laughing through his short sentence, Peter took a few deep breaths, and wiped a small tear that had formed in his eye fro laughing so incredibly hard. "I shouldn't laugh, you both look gorgeous, but the situation. It has to be funny, you can't ignore it...You both need to lighten up. Imagine how I feel? I got this suit at the end of summer, and it already doesn't fit me correctly, you guys are just worried about looking odd, I can't raise my arms above my shoulders without tearing this damn jacket." Since school had started, Peter had grown yet another inch and a half, and a bit of muscle after the long hours of his own Conditioning. Each year before practice would start, Peter would go out and drill himself, running stairs and weight lifting the small amounts of weights he could. That didn't help his cloth problems.
"Don't worry ladies, you may be out of your element, but if you act like your not, you wont be."

Glancing up quickly as an all too familiar voice called her name, a wonderful feeling of relief flooded through Beck. Thank Merlin! Ze'd made it. Every situation, no matter how bad, was always more tolerable with the other girl there. Opening her mouth to chastise her best friend for being horribly late, Beck glanced up and caught sight of the dark haired girl and couldn't stop the snort of laughter from escaping her. It was an involuntary reaction at this point. Taking in Ze's scraped hands, brusing elbow, and touseled dress. the redhead raised an eyebrow. "Somehow, I think we're expected to leave brawling on the Quidditch field, Ze. It doesn't exactly seem an appropriate activity when in formal attire." She smirked, which might have seemed an odd reaction to someone else at finding their best friend slightly worse for the wear, but Beck knew that if Zenobia had managed to run all the way here and the first thing out of her mouth had been the start of an explanation, there was nothing to worry about. She was fine. "And thank you to you, as well. Apparently, I don't look so bad." She smiled slightly, fingering the fabric of the dress at her knees.

As she heard Peter's laughter, Beck couldn't help but laugh herself, elbowing the taller boy lightly in the side for good measure. "No laughing. I wouldn't even know how to begin to make it seem like I'm not out of my element. And Merlin, Peter, do you ever stop growing?" She grinned upon hearing his comment, knowing full well she didn't have much room to talk. "You know you could fix the jacket with magic. Apparently it works rather well." The tall redhead gestured to the floor length dress she wore. "Would you believe this thing barely came past my knees before they fixed it?"

Zenobia Haveness

Lip curling distastefully, as if Peter were a tampered with bludger having a particularly mean streak, Zenobia scoffed. It was her wish to have a beater’s bat in her clenched fist, with which she would use to pummel Lauritz with. She crossed her bare arms firmly across her chest and spit out, “For your information Petie, I am not wearing a dress.” And then Ze proceeded to point at the clear separation of skirt and shirt. Sure it was more dressie than she could stomach. But much, much better than a full length, fomfy dress. No way in Hade’s Hell would this witch be caught in something so extravagant that to move would be like swimming through layers of scratchy material. To grate her nerves even futher, the stupid way that the stupid boy before her was stupidly sputtering made Ze just want to… want to…

WHACK. A snort of laugh escaped Ze. 'Ah, I feel much better.' Now only one of Zenobia’s heels remained in her hand, while the other one clattered satisfyingly on the floor after having knicked her target. It wasn’t like she needed them anyways, her toes felt much less squished when freed from the pointed shoes. Hopefully Peter wasn’t too hurt.

Taking the seat beside Beckett and placing the single shoe upon the table, Ze dropped her head onto the table with a moan. ‘I’d much rather be flying around the Hogwart’s grounds. Especially because everyone is here and I’d actually have a moment’s privacy.’ The only reason her arrival was decided upon was because Beckett was just too nice to their dorm mates and gave in to attending the dance. And what kind of friend would it make Zazzer if she left her friend to suffer this torture alone? Granted, if Ze had been around when their housemates were buggering Beck, she could have kept Be from falling into their grasp. The fact was she wasn’t there; she was getting herself out of a tight bind. But when she finally turned up in the Gryffindor Tower to find it nearly void of all giggling girls and a certain red head, Ze could only guess what had happened. Then rushed to shower and tackled her messy trunk in search of something semi suitable.

And now, here she was.
“I hope you love me unconditionally for this.” The fork left on her table was what she used to point at Beck with before twirling it between her fingers. Then she gave the other witch a smile for her comment of Quidditch brawling, 'Oh how fun, can't wait till the season starts!'

Seeing the flash of irritation in Ze's eyes, Beck quickly leaned away from Peter just as Zenobia's shoe sailed by. Glancing at the floor where the offensive item lay, Beck made a face. 'Why would anyone want to wear those?' she wondered, picturing herself in heels. She couldn't help a half snort half, half laugh at the mental image. As if she didn't already tower over most people. 'Which is probably why they gave me these,' she added silently, sliding one foot forward to glance at the silver ballet flat.

All talk (or thoughts, rather) of shoes was soon forgotten as Ze plopped down beside Beck and laid her head on the table, muttering something about unconditional love. Twisting sideways to face the table, Beck leaned over and mirrored Zenobia, dropping her head on the table. "You know I love you unconditionally. But I love you even more because you're here being miserable because I'm here being miserable and now we can be miserably together. They always say misery loves company, after all," she said matter-of-factly, grinning widely at the other girl.

As he remembered, finally, to stop laughing and finally compliment Zenobia, Peter was struck in the side of his face with one single high heeled shoe. The simple contact of the shoe to his face was such a surprise that he had been caught completely off guard, and had fallen off his chair and onto the floor. It took him a few minutes to realize what had just happened, and he let out a rather small but irritated laugh. “I deserved that. Though I must say, I really wished you had worn flats. I think you might have liked those more than the heels.”

He stayed on the ground, far, far too afraid of getting hit again to sit up on the chair. However, he was tall enough to be at about Beckett’s waist level from the ground, his head at least. There was two marks on his face, one from the bottom of the shoe, and one from the heel of the shoe, both rather red marks on his face, yet the only reason it hurt as bad as it did was because he wasn’t paying very much attention. Using one hand to prop himself up, Peter rubbed his face with the other hand, very glad that this head wound did not leave him unconscious. “I must apologize, Ze, that skirt-shirt combination is very flattering. And I just hope that you don’t decide to use your other heel as a projectile.”

Damian, you were smart, you got out while you still could. Pretending to pout, Peter crossed his arms like a little boy who had just got denied a cookie. After a moment, the words that Beckett had said before he got his head smashed by a rater fashionable shoe, Peter looked up at Beckett, an attempt at a smile adorned his face. However, even with a smile, the red marks on his face made it even easier for just about anyone to smile back. “Beck, your right, I should get this magically altered, however, you know my wand skills. I would probably end up setting my clothes on fire, so I would rather not mess with them myself.” Rather gracefully, at first, Peter removed his jacket, and set it on the chair that he formerly sat in, his white shirt was only slightly wrinkled, but it actually fit compared to the jacket that he just removed.

“You know, I really want to go practice quidditch. I haven’t been on my broom in a while, and you can only practice off a broom so much. Would either of you two ladies like to join me, of course, after we remove these dress clothes and get into something more..Comfortable.” Letting out a small, ‘oof’, Peter got to his feet, and grabbed his jacket, but not putting it on. Peter took a step towards the door of the great hall before turning his head to look at Ze and Beck. “That is, unless you would rather stay here in dress clothes and funny goo in your hair. I haven’t played Quidditch in the dark in a long time.”

Damian, why on earth did you have to desert the dance? Leaving me all alone, and worse, with two ornery girls! There is no way I am ever going to forgive you for this. However…He was with Anna, and if he doesn’t get some serious snogging in with her, I could never forgive him. I cannot think to interrupt Nicodemus and his beloved Eloise. El, she is so odd. I’ve see her stretch, and it is creepy! El can fit her entire body through a wire-less tennis racket! I swear both of them would make a fortune in the circus. Shaking his head, his hair falling into his face, Peter returned back to reality, hoping that they would answer him without some sort of physical pain.

Sezer raised his eyebrows, challenging her. Almost as if to say 'Are you nutters?' But, of course, being the mannerful sack of books and knowledge that he was, he said no such thing. Instead he merely shook his head almost imperceptibly. He then shrugged, smirking. "I must concede, there are worse duties one could be stuck with. That he does. There's no telling what kind of trouble he might get into. And with Miss Sophennett now in the picture... Only Merlin knows." He really was getting better at this whole 'lightening up' thing, wasn't he? Teasing Joel left and right, even Vlaityn, a few times.

Then the poor and entranced bespectacled individual noticed his girlfriend's grin. And, well, right then he was very cliche. Because, you see, he was very tempted to herald to her that nothing, no precious gem or otherwise, could match the beauty of her smile. However, since Sezer had a good deal of self-control, he managed not to. Instead, he merely shot one of his own back at her, hoping beyond hope, at least in his little logical mind, that it somehow kept that smile on her face. It died down after a while, to smaller, more content smile. "Gryffindors," he muttered, clucking his tongue to himself, "never punctual."

Sezer had a grudge against Gryffindors, though no one typically knew why.

Vlaityn was highly amused, as usual, by Sezer's slight annoyance at the Gryffs. He had never loved them, to put it lightly. Which was all the more amusing. Sezer and his little ticks. They were glorious, were they not?

"It's called being fashionably late, darling." She teasingly reprimanded him. "Not everyone squeezes every gram of possibility out of the night as we did."

Although her tone was light, Vlaityn gave Sezer's arm a slight squeeze, knowing he was slightly annoyed. Only slightly. But still, Vlaityn liked her best when he was absolutely content.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 15, 2009 12:51 pm

Sezer smiled down at her, deciding shortly that he liked the feel of her on his arm. It was almost as if he were showing her off. Almost as if to say 'Yes, yes, glare all you want. I've no idea how I got this pretty little witch, either, but as long as she's here, she's mine. And don't I think I won't hex you just because I'm polite. I will.' Or some such nonsense.

"I suppose you're right." He conceded, fondly gazing at her. He found it curious, quite curious indeed, to note that just with a few reassuring words from her and one look at her could all his annoyances melt away like butter on warm toast. She had a spell cast over him, there was no doubt about it. Or, rather, there was even less doubt than there was previously, if there had even been any before now.

"Vlaityn, I must inquire, have you performed some sort of ancient spell I do not know of?"

'Leave it to Sezer to try and make feeling logical.'

Vlaityn rolled her eyes slightly at Sezer's question, not surprised in the least. It was down-right Sezer-ish. To a tee. "I'm afraid not. Whatever you're trying to blame on me is all your own doing." Vlaityn smirked in amusement.

"Trust, if there was such a spell, I would have used it a long time ago." A joke that sounded more like a confession. Vlaityn felt her face turn slightly red. So maybe she had liked Sezer more than she would have felt comfortable admitting. But such was life.

"Besides, I could fairly ask the same of you."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 15, 2009 1:08 pm

Sezer gazed curiously at her, watching at the cornucopia of emotions played across her face. "Truly?" He questioned her, still not having given up to, as she put it, 'try and make feeling logical'. He was Sezer. It was what he did. He needed a T-shirt that said 'I'm Sezer - It's what I do.' It would speak the truth, it would. As he was not milk and it just wouldn't make sense any other way.

He raised an eyebrow appreciatively, smirking, inwardly contemplating this new bit of information. Storing it away in what he liked to brag was his 'nearly infinite encyclopedia', he kept the smirk on his face.

"I doubt that." He told her matter of factly, feeling the oddest urge to swipe the bit of her hair that had come undone behind her ear, though managing to resist his impulse yet again. "I assure you, though, I have not performed such a spell. At least not one that I know of. Maybe Joel put something in our pumpkin juice." He mused aloud.

Staring at the exit with hesitant yearning to escape this godforsaken ball, Anasazi heard a voice interrupt her wishy-washy thoughts. Shock flashed upon her face for a split second as no other than Kanita Doyle approached her. Their hands linked quickly as if meeting for the first time, and Kanita's lean body swept into a flamboyant bow. The bitter, melancholy look on Anasazi's face disappeared as she tried her hardest to stifle a laugh. A smile cracked onto her face as she reluctantly let Kanita lead her onto the dance floor. It occured to her that tonight the two people she'd associated with were both Ravenclaws. At least I'm not one. My God, the pressure would be horrific.

The pretty Ravenclaw looked as if she were on the verge of laughter as well. What a sight that would be, Anasazi mused, if both girls were to spontaneously erupt in a fit of giggles. A wave of self-consciousness washed over her as she realized how conspicuous that would make her. She was visible enough as it was, standing in the company of Kanita Doyle, seventh year Ravenclaw. The sick feeling almost rose again, but Anasazi pushed it down, instead focusing on Kanita. Her deep brown hair was nothing but normal compared to Anasazi's fire-truck bright-red oddity attached to her head. She didn't even want to think about how their physiques compared.

"So, um, Kani. Why did you, er-" Take pity on me? "Decide to come over?" The beats and rhythms emanating from the front of the Hall pulsed through Anasazi as if it were her blood itself. It was rather relaxing; she tried to loosen up in the presence of Kanita, who was so spunky and bubbly. Anasazi could only dream of being like that. Her mind flitted back to Anatoliy, and she wondered whether he was in bed yet or still recovering from the shock of the lower years' activity. Maybe she should ask Kani... no. This was about her, not her brother, as much as she felt bad about it. She had to try to have fun tonight. Sending a smile Kanita's way, Anasazi hoped the night would go only uphill from there.

Sitting up and turning to face Peter so quickly she was surprised she didn't get a crick in her neck, Beckett stared wide-eyed at the tall boy, a look of desperate longing passing over her features. "Oh, I think I may just love you, Peter. That is the best suggestion I've heard all night." Looking over her shoulder at Ze, Beck grinned. "I know you just got here and all, but really...which would you rather be doing? Dancing or flying?she questioned, already knowing the answer. "Plus, you still need to tell me just what kind of scuffle you managed to get yourself into before you came down and you can do that on the way back up to the dorm."

Beck attempted to stand with the intention of following Peter out of the Great Hall, but found that she'd managed to tangle her dress around a leg of the chair. Bending over slightly, Beck untangled the offensive garment and stood back up, flipping her long hair back over her shoulder in mild irritation. See if anyone ever got her in a dress again. Facing her best friend, Beck held out a hand. "Coming?" she said with a grin, already anticipating the feel of the air on her face and the weightlessness of flight.

Apparently, Beck is incredibly upset with me for making her go to the dance. She's being rather stubborn and uncooperative at the moment. Hopefully, if I let her go do fun thing she'll start cooperating and let me write properly...

“Well, miserable I am. But in good company.” She tossed a smile at Beck, lifting her head off the table and plopping her chin in her palm, elbow rudely on the table. ‘Mum would have my hide if she saw how bad my table manners get each time I return to Hogwarts.’ The thought nearly made her giggle, which would have been even odder than seeing Ze in a skirt, but her mind was suddenly sidetracked at the sound of a solid THUMP. “Oh, ouch Peter, what happened to that Quidditch balance?” A smirk appeared on her lips but quickly disappeared. What was that she heard, were her ears playing evil, narky tricks on her mind? But no, there went Peter, galavanting out of the Great Hall and surely the darkening sky was his destination. Wriggling in her seat, Zenobia waited for Beck’s reply, for if her dear mate wished to remain in this chamber of misery, than there Ze would remain as well.

Hearing Beckett’s full agreement to this delicious idea, Ze’s tastebuds danced, happy that her deep craving would be satisfied. It took a split second for Zenobia to hurl herself to her feet, completely forgetting about her heels laying about the floor and table, not that she truly cared to remember
. “Might as well see how much more damage this outfit can stand.” The shorter Gryffindor didn’t care one iota what she'd be wearing as long as her broom would be in her grasp. And anyways, there were shorts hidden under her skirt. Ze was always prepared for a sudden match.

Then Ze looked back at her friend and instantly changed her mind. That outfit was far too grand on Beck to risk even the slightest tear. And though Ze did not like the idea of making the long trek back to their dormitory, while Peter enjoyed the fresh outdoor air, she sucked it up
. "Oh ignore me, lets get out of these clothes and grab our brooms." she then took hold of Beck's hand and bolted out of the Great Hall.

Fluttering onto the dance floor made Kanita glow with happiness. Though she loved Dexter, it was time to boogie with someone like, well, Anasazi. ‘Hufflepuffs are oddly interesting.’ And seeing humor tremble Ana’s lips let Kani in on the little secret that the girl had a funny bone or two. “Felt it was time to give a little spark to your fiery hair. You looked like you were about to go out.” She meant that both literally and figuratively speaking; for Ana seemed in damp spirits as well as about to leave the dance at any second. ‘Perhaps I shouldn’t say things so bluntly…’ But the thought was shrugged away. Who would Kanita Doyle be if she wasn’t her honest, curious self?

Letting the music lead her body into sways, turns and fancy step-work, Kanita suddenly twirled Ana so she could see that bright hair of hers spin out like waves of sweet cherry juice. And oh how Kani was a fan of cherry. "I wonder if you are just as sweet." Personality is important. Knowing that what she was talking about was very well lost to Anasazi, Kanita simply grinned at the girl.

Then suddenly her brain clicked. Wasn't there a certain somewhere she was headed? 'Oh! Bloody brilliant, Ana is in Hufflepuff. As is Pippa and Anne. Now I wont have to seem a bother, I'll have a proper introduction.' The grin stretched ever wider across Kani's bright face, as if she swallowed the sun and it was now just bursting from within. Now all that needed to be figured out was how to properly word the request to Ana, so not to seem rude or pushy. For that was the last thing Kani would want to accomplish, but there was just so much to do on this magical Christmas night that it felt as though time might just slip from her grasp.

Kanita's choice of words gave Anasazi little with which to form an opinion. 'Fiery,' the Ravenclaw had said. Anasazi had never taken herself as the kind of girl to be the stereotypical redhead. Conflicts avoided Anasazi like Boggarts avoided daylight; she was never one to hear, 'Watch out for that girl, you know how redheads have their tempers,' nor was she a 'carrot top.' Her hair wasn't ginger enough or orange enough- it was as if pixies had visited her one night and decided to make mischief, charming her hair to end up that semi-revolting, semi-blinding colour of cherry Kool-Aid mixed with the lead paint used on fire trucks. As soon as her hair began to grow in, Anasazi remembered, it was laughable how often her parents would express their bafflement at how bright her hair was, but her father would never express any doubt that this child was biologically theirs. It "wasn't his place," Ciar would say. And to top it all off, her personality didn't match her hair at all.

As Anasazi felt her body twirl, the yellow ruffles on her dress fanning out in a near-perfect circle, she nearly shrieked at how fast she found herself spinning. She laughed as Kanita commented on something about sweetness. "Excuse me?" Who knew that something could be so fun? Of course, only she would. Anasazi had never much been one for fun and games- she was always locked up (figuratively, of course) to take care of her… mostly willing siblings in liu of her mother's absence. At least she wouldn't have to live with the pain of death like some of the other kids at school. No, she only had to live with the pain of never knowing her mother's whereabouts. Anatoliy had told her once about a girl, in Slytherin, he had said reverently, whose father had died at the hands of the now only historical threat of the Death Eaters, when they were still struggling to stay on top.

Though she wasn't the most graceful dancer on the floor, Anasazi asked herself whether she was having fun. The answer was (now) a most resounding 'yes.'
