The same reason I'm rarely on, marching band. Since we're undefeated so far we have a lot of pressure on us to keep winning.

I hate it when schools think winning is so important.

So do I. It's money collected, from set of student, to pay for their senior prom and graduation. I thought all schools did that.

Oh goodness, no, Vincent. They shouldn't keep your diploma from you. That would be unjustified. If you don't go to Prom or go to the Graduation ceremony, you should have no reason to pay those dues. However, if you go to either one of those, it might behoove you to pitch in. My school never had those dues though. It sounds somewhat strange, actually. I think it might be a good idea to look into WHY you have to pay, given that it should be paid for via the funds the school receives from the government, (federal AND state). Who has asked you to pay?

How much are they asking you to pay? They really should never ask you to pay in the first place. I would have a talk with the principal and then the entire school district.

Any where from $45 to $20 depending on what year your on.
They can do whatever they want, I find both the prom and graduation ceremony a waste of time.

*sneaks in* ninja
At my school, we have to pay dues for prom as juniors and seniors as the freshman and sophomores can't go to prom.
My school also lost the Homecoming game. The school is over obsessed about sports. rolleyes
