The girl shifted on her feet. "Good. I was worried when you didn't come back." Green eyes stared at Awen, filled with worry. "I didn't know what they would do to you or-" She stopped herself, the fear she had accumulated for the staff finally showing itself. "But your okay! That's good... at least your okay." Amaya head-bobbed in affirmation with herself, not even realizing she had done so afterwards.

Awen noted the interesting quirk of head bobbing Amaya had picked up but just ignored it as any growing quirk happening now. "Actually they were super nice to me. First Aubrey saved me, and gave me that new bed... then Sabin was chatting with me over the intercom and I'm getting bathing suits and maybe an xbox 360 soon." She was smiling obviously things weren't that bad at all for the almost-escapee.

"That's good then." Amaya forced a smile for her friend, once again envious. She avoided the staff as much as possible, that way she wouldn't get on their bad side. Staying happy was hard enough without having some madman after you to make your life a living hell. Though they probably didn't reward subjects just for 'good behavior'.

The lizard wanted to invite her friend inside, but knew that was a stupid thing to do... and she was too scared to go outside. "I'm glad your okay. I got scared when you didn't come back for a few days." It seemed that when she said she didn't go out, she really meant it. Even her scales weren't looking as healthy.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 16, 2006 9:30 pm

Awen noddded at her comments. "Yeah I'm really sorry. I've been trying to avoid people the passed few days, I don't want them to worry all that much because of the IV..." She shrugged a little bit.

After taking a closer look at Amaya the manta frowned a little bit. "Hun... I hate to say it but I think you need some real sun....heal lamps are good and all but..you're not looking so good." Good meaning healthy not...not good.

"That's okay." The girl said, though frowned and looked away when her health and scale colour was mentioned. She began to fidget with her claws again.

"I don't-" Her voice seemed to skip, as if it was hard to say it. "I don't like going outside anymore." Her green eyes didn't make contact with Awen's.

Awen put her hand under the girl's chin and made her look up. "Amaya... I know that you're really self conscious right now. I know you don't want people to see you... but everyone is transforming into something. Everyone is going to end up like you sooner or later. Joli has scales too, right? And I mean... it could always be worse. You could be turning into something that doesn't breathe air. I'm fine now...but when I transform again...who knows when I'll loose this whole lung breathing thing. Then I won't be able to really see anyone and I'll be the one envying you."

She slipped her hand to Amaya's shoulder. "You have friends Amaya, who care about you not what you look like. Please remember that."

Amaya looked up at Awen, though only because she was forced and didn't want to jerk away rudely. Her frown deepened and she looked to the side. She was being such an a*****e... Awen was right. Soon the girl wouldn't be able to even breathe air and she was worried about loosing her hair and face?

She let her gaze drop once the manta moved her hand to her shoulder. "I know... I'm being stupid and selfish..." She trailed off, looking like she was about to cry but no tears shed. "I'm just... scared."
PostPosted: Thu Mar 16, 2006 9:55 pm

Awen nodded and drew her friend into a hug. She shouldn't have said things like that. Awen was the one being an a**, making Amaya feel bad after already feeling crummy. She gave the lizard girl a little squeeze.

"No...no....I'm just saying sweetie it can always be worse. Everyone is changing... so no one will ever look down on you because of things. I know you're scared... but we're all here for you. Shutting yourself in doesn't help." Pausing a moment she sighed. "I'm sorry..."

The reptile hesitated for a moment, wondering if she would hurt Awen if she hugged her. Though slowly she returned the embrace very gently. "Don't be sorry." She said with a shake of her head.

"I know where all changing and that it could be worse... but that's just it." Amaya gently released the hug. "I'm scared it's going to get worse and deep down, I know it will. I've been trying my hardest to see the bright side of things ever since I came here... for seven months. But I don't know if I can keep it up anymore."

Awen sighed a little bit and nodded. "I understand Amaya... I'm scared too." She gave the girl a squeeze. "That's why we have to be here for one another. You have to let people help. We're all afraid..."

Amaya headbobbed again in agreement, but this time she caught herself and her eyes widdened. She had almost done it in the jungle once, but caught herself before... and did she do it without realizing it a couple of minutes ago?

Oh god... ohgodohgodohgod.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 16, 2006 10:33 pm

Awen almost laughed at the girl's expresion but caught herself. She pat Amaya's shoulder. "Hey it's okay hun. Just acept it... it'll make everything easier." She paused and shook her head a bit. "But I'll stop bugging ya, just you know saying I'm okay." she nodded a little bit and gave a wave before turning nad heading along the line of duplex's back towards her own. "Everything will be okay."

Meeting With Chubbs

Amaya Vaughan
New RP

Awen was right... people weren't gonna pick on her for looking the way she did... she hoped.

After the manta had left Amaya had paced her room for a bit. She had run out of food and cleaned the mess she made with it up. Now the hard part: going to the cafeteria.

It took a lot of courage but eventually she made her way to the cafeteria. It didn't help that almost all her body was showing. Stupid tail, hands and feet didn't allow her to wear much anymore. Making sure her hat was on right she peeked into the double doors to see if anyone was inside.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs walked his way to the cafeteria, he had some giant major munchies, he was awfully hungry for some reason. it was like he was trying to play catch up for the months in the wild, it wasn't uncommon for him to eat four or five meals a day.

Dressed in a pair of shorts to his shins, a green T-shirt with the words " I went to Warp Factor 10 and all I got was this lousy T-shirt" written on it and his cap, Chubbs smelt a familiar smell in the air. Seeing the cafeteria door in sight, he saw what he thought was Amaya and grinned. He was happy to see her safe, and he quickly ran up to give her a huge hug from behind.

" Heeeeeey!"

Amaya Vaughan
"YAH!"

The iguana jumped and spun around, her eyes wide. Her tail lashed around behind her and hit the cafeteria doors... harder then she would have expected. The one she hit swung open, almost hitting the wall. She looked back at it with a wince, wondering if the new limb was pure muscle or what.

Her gaze remained on the ground, though slowly she turned to Chubbs. Well... at least she knew him. He would be nice. "Hi... Chubbs." Her voice was very shy and nervous, nothing like the girl he had known before. Amaya didn't look anything like the girl he knew before either. The only identiable features were her green eyes and the pendent around her neck.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs did blink at first, the Amaya he knew before had changed. The poor girl must be practially upset bout her looks. Much as he wanted to cry, and completely lose it, he kept his smile and choked down anything that'd upset her.

" Dang you girl, don't run off on me again, I went looking for you for aaaages"

He gave her a kiss on her forehead and a tight hug, and put her down on her feet.

" Man I sound so daddy right now, heh, sorry I scared ya"

Chubbs tried not to stare too much, but he knew his heart wasn't beating for at least a minute.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya was assalted with affection before she could reply to what he had said to her. Once she was set down she smiled up at him, though it was still pretty timid. "It's okay... and I'm sorry I ran off. I got really hot with a fever so I went out into the rain to cool down. Then I started changing, paniced and ran." She looked back up at him, a sorry expression on her face.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs listen and then made a sad face, it looked almost cute. He awww'd and petted her shoulder and then gave her a little one armed hug.

" Sorry to here that hun, just was worried bout ya since ya were freezing. Gotta look after my lil sister don't I?"

He grinned and pushed open the door again and motioned to the room inside. His belly made an audible rumble and he blushed lightly.

" Er, let's grab a bit a tucker hey?"

Amaya Vaughan
The girl smiled again, her tail having settled down after the first good thwap at the door. "Alright." She followed Chubbs into the cafeteria and looked around quickly to make sure no one else was inside. Then she walked towards the food. "How have you been?"

Chubbs MacKraken
chubbs walked right towards the food counter and grabbed a tray. He tried to slow himself down to not embaress himself in front of Amaya. Looking things over, he continued to talk while he decided.

" To be really honest... kinda not well... I been..."

He sighed and looked at his tray, wondering how honest he would be. He had to think of Amaya first though, and to be brutally honest might upset her, he didn't want that.

" Just a bit down lately... that's all"

Chubbs looked over the food and took up two lamb chops, three sausages, some mash and some sweet and sour pork. Grabbing a coke he headed for a table to sit.

Amaya Vaughan
"I know the feeling." Amaya frowned and grabbed a small egg salad, an apple, and a bottled water. She followed him silently and when they got to the table she set all her things down carefully. As she went to pull her chair out she paused and then turned it completely around, remembering she couldn't sit normally anymore due to her tail.

Once her tail was comfortable enough hanging off the end of the chair, she awkwardly grabbed her fork with two fingers. "Did something happen?" She questioned, green eyes looking up at Chubbs.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs at himself down and hooked into his meal. He was very hungry and his mouth could support the big bites that he was shoveling in. After swallowing a mouthfull, he pondered everything that made him feel how he was.

" I ... I don't like feeling so helpless, I mean, people I care about are being hurt, in more ways then one, and all I can do is sit back and watch. I feel kinda broken"

That was about the best way he could describe it. He chewed on a chop and popped open his can of coke, having a sip.

Amaya Vaughan
"Yeah... I know that feeling too." The lizard said after taking a bite from her salad. The frown was still there, her eyes going back to her salad as she stabbed it. "The only thing that I know we can do is simply avoid the staff, ignore them as much as we can." Then she paused and let out a sigh. "Though I guess that doesn't help when one of the staff sets out to permanently scar you. Did that one guy do something to Joliette again?" Her voice was sad and defeated, almost sure that was the case.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs shook his head, leaned over lightly and petted her back softly. It was the only comforting gesture he could think of. He guessed she was talking about Sabin, Joliette must have spoken about him to Amaya.

" Poor Awen , me and Joli.. well we found her on the beach... like... she had been drowning or something. We ran over to like help her.. I wasn't sure what was wrong. Well... this woman in a jeep turns up... and was a complete b*tch!... she like told us to go away and threatened to down me and I was scared... cuz the thing was, I nearlly attacked her."

Chubbs took another big drink and forked up som pork to munch on.

Amaya Vaughan
"Your the ones who found Awen?" Amaya asked, perking up... though it didn't last long. At mention of the woman and Chubbs almost hurting her, she frowned deeply. Though this time, it looked more like anger. "That was probably Aubrey." She nearly hissed. "After the duplexes opened up she came in with gifts from where she had been with Moreau. She kept saying how she had no idea that we had been locked out the entire time and when I got mad she looked like she was going to put me to sleep right then and there! Like I wasn't even allowed to get angry!" She took a breath, her arms starting to shake.

"Did you know that the whole thing had been an experiment? They kept us outside for two months for something like THAT! And and they put me by those two dead bodies on purpose! And I bet they put that poor little mouse-bird thing so I would find it too!" Her breathing was getting a little more labored, eyes looking wet like she was going to cry. "I didn't even do anything to them!"

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs stopped eating, and he put his fork down. The whole thing was some bullsh*t expiriment? He had his doubts but there it was, all clear to him. Chubbs put his hands over his face, and started to take deep breaths. He was trying to calm down, but it was like trying to hold back a eild beast with a rope that would be easier to let go and feel better. Chubbs was completely pissed, what the did was wrong, and to top it, the b*tch was on holiday? Chubbs was struggling, and he balled his fists up and his breaths came quicker.

" Just.... just gimme a minute... it's been really hard to hold back lately"

Amaya Vaughan
The girl blinked, surprised. The tears that had threatened to come vanished, replaced with... fear? S-Sorry Chubbs... I didn't mean to get you angry. Was what she wanted to say, but nothing came out. Green eyes simply stared, her body tense.

Amaya Vaughan
"O-Okay..." Amaya stuttered, flinching slightly when he patted her hand. What had just happened scared her... what were they doing to him? Her tail gave a nervous shudder, though she tried to think of something to switch the subject to while poking at her salad.

Nothing came to mind, leaving an awkward silence.

Quote:
Chubbs sighed, and slowly opened his eyes and saw Amaya. with that, he moved his chair over towards her, and wrapped his arms around her, giving her a hug. He wanted to show he was still around, that he could be here for her, most of all he wanted to calm her down so she wasn't so afraid.

" I'm fine... honest... just had too much to handle as of late"

Quote:
The iguana returned the hug with little hesitation. She nodded, the hat she was wearing shifting slightly on her scaley head. "Yeah..." How could she blame him? Right now she doubted anyone was having a very pleasent time on the island...

Quote:
Chubbs leaned down so she could see his face, and he smiled at her. He was trying his best given the circumstances to forget the things that were trying him so much lately. He needed a smiley face to help him right now.

Quote:
Amaya smiled back, though it was still tinged with a small hint of fear. Why couldn't she get over it? Chubbs hadn't even done anything... Come to think of it, why was she so jumpy? Then again, it was probably because she was always scared... Always scared that she was going to run into someone new and have to explain her apperance. And if that happened, then they would take it bad. Like Chana. A shudder went down her spine at the thought, but then something else occured to her. Something that was a good, neutral topic. "Oh... I still have your hoodie. I need to give it back to you before you go back to your duplex." She was unable to wear it anymore.

Quote:
Chubbs raised a brow, grinned and then chuckled for a bit. He shoook his head lightly and smiled, shifting his food towards him.

" Sorry hun, I damn forgot ya still had it... ya don't have to give it back ya know, I'd rather ya were warm"

He picked up a sausage and bit it in half hungrily. He knew he could eat alot but this was a bit piggy for his taste. But every mouthful felt good when it hit his stomach. He wiped his mouth on a paper napkin and picked up his knife and fork and started back into his meal, speaking before he did.

" Ya know that damn Lauren has my shorts too, at this rate i'll be running about naked"

He joked.

Quote:
"Yeah, but I can't wear it anymore. It'd just collect dust if I were to keep it." The girl said, finishing her salad and taking a sip of water afterwards. It was very hard for her to wear anything with sleeves now... even t-shirts were rather hard to put on. She chose not to comment about Lauren, still rather cross with her and probably always would be.

Quote:
Chubbs took a last bite out of his chop while he was listening, and chewed as he looked to her hands. He didn't think about that, how hard it mus be to get dressed in the morning. He swallowed and sipped at his coke and stroked her back again. It was kind of a reflex to him now, to comfort someone when he thought the right words wouldn't do.

" Alright, i'll grab it back"

Quote:
Even though her top the long spikes down her spine could be felt, having grown a lot longer from her last change. They weren't hard or sharp, but were sort of flexible. Thankfully, they didn't hurt anymore. Standing, she carefully grabbed her emtpy salad bowl and half-empty bottle of water. "We can run by there when your done."

Quote:
Chubbs stood up, and grabbed his coke. He walked towards the food counter and grabbed an apple, another coke and a piece of honey bun for the road. He smiled and opened the door for Amaya,

" Goin my way?"

Quote:
Amaya smiled and walked out of the door once she put her bowl away. Her pace was kind of a slow swagger from side to side, kind of like an alligator on two legs. Her tail moved back and forth behind her, the initial cause for her change in movement. As she made her way towards her duplex, she wanted to make small talk but couldn't think of anything... so she stayed quiet.

Quote:
Chubbs put his hands in his pockets, walking along beside Amaya and listening to the quiet. He hated quiet, it was awkward and no fun in it. As the drew closer to her home, he smirked and turned to her.

" Oh that's it! no more quiet!"

And with that her scooped her up in his arms quickly and raspberried at her stomach, rubbing his face.

Quote:
"Hu-AH!" The lizard screeched as she was hoisted into Chubbs' arms. She flailed and laughed, for once forgetting about the awkward feeling of being outside and feeling so exposed and different. Her tail wiggled behind her, hands on his shoulders as she laughed and tried to push him away. "Ah! Ahstoppit!" Even though she didn't want it to stop, it was a reflex to cry such.

Quote:
Chubbs chuckled and did it a few more times, rubbing his face vigorously into her stomach, loving the laughter pouring out of her. It is what he needed to here, something to cheer him up and he finally placed her back on her feet at her duplex with a big cheeky smile.

Quote:
Amaya laughed, standing on the flats of her feet as she was put down. It looked strange, to go down from one height to another so quickly. The five inches that standing on her toes gained her was gone until she stood back up on them to walk into her duplex. Laughing a little more, she opened her door awkwardly and shuffled around before coming back out and handing him his clean hoodie. "Thanks for letting me borrow this... and everything." She added, grinning. That laugh had been good for her too. Very good.

Quote:
Chubbs took the hoodie back in his hand and smiled at her and ruffled the top of he head gently but like a brother.

" Hey, what are big brothers for hey?"

He grinned and gave her a big hug, hoping she felt alot better than she had been, He knew he had.

Quote:
The reptile returned the hug tightly before letting go. "I'll see ya Chubbs. Tell Joli I said hi." She smiled. "And come around if you ever wanna talk."

Quote:
Chubbs nodded and got out of the door way and gave her a wink.

" You too okay? If ya need a good laugh you come see me okay?"

He smiled and waved as he tossed the hoodie over his shoulder and made his way towards his own duplex.

Basking
(Amaya encounters Joliette on the cliffs)

Quote:
Joliette walked along the path leading up to the cliffs, she'd not been there for a while, and now she had her camera back, in fact... last she had been there was the day of the explosion. She pauses and turns remembering the blast, remembering taking a photo of it... She shakes her head her tongue flickering and she continued on her way. She was in black Gi bottoms, which were proving far more comfortable then anything else she owned and a white cotton t-shirt which was feeling the warmth of the sun. Over her shoulder her very battered up camera bag which had her equipment in it. It took her a while but eventually she rounded the bend at the top of the cliffs.

Quote:
Even though the fear Amaya felt had overided her instincts for some time, eventually her iguana side got the better of her. She was starting to feel ill and anemic, a large portion of her screaming for the wonderful sun outside... so reluctantly she had obeyed. Picking a spot that was rather scarce of islander activity, she set for the cliffs and eventually got there. She lay down on one of the nice warm rocks to bask in the wonderful noon sunlight. It was a wonderful feeling... like sleeping an illness away even though she was perfectly awake. Despite her change, she wasn't able to wear much anymore. The less she wore, the better her scales felt. So all that was on her was a black tank top and a pair of black shorts. Her body lay slightly curled and facing the other rocks, her long tail trailing behind her and taking residence over a couple of rocks behind her. Her green eyes were closed and she seemed oblivious to everything around her.

Quote:
This scene that Joliette came across when she reached the top and came to a stop made her pause and blink. It took a further moment before she put two and two together "Amaya?" she asks, her voice holds an edge of curiosity. Wow, what a difference in the girl... She shifted from one foot to the other, Amaya was the only other lizard, even if a different one, that Joliette know of on the isle, and save for Cass, the only other reptile.

Quote:
The iguana's eyes snapped open and her head spun around to stare in surprise at Joliette. Her tail gave a quick SMACK of the rocks beneath them out of pure surprise, causing her to wince and look away sadly. "Hey... Joliette." She was amazed that the woman even recognized her... the only things the same were her eyes. Though then again, she was one of the few other reptiles on the island so she was probably a given. Slowly she sat up, shifting awkwardly as her tail found a comfortable position behind her.

Quote:
"Wow... uhm recent?" Joliette didn't quite know what to say, she felt sorry for the girl. Her tongue flicked as she walks closer pulling her gaze off her to not stare

Quote:
"N-Not... really. Happened the day before the duplexes opened." Amaya managed to say, running one of her large palms down her head. The spines bent underneath the weight, like some strange mohawk. The very feeling of it made her shiver, her large pink tongue flickering as well.

Quote:
"So you changed out there too, I'm glad that's over" she sighs still avoiding staring, it was intriguing as much as she didn't want to admit it. She finds a place to sit in the sunshine and does so pushing her bag to one side away from the edge of the cliff

Quote:
"Yeah..." The girl said simply, for once not elaborating or talking or saying how frightened she was... something was different about her that wasn't just her appearance. She was a lot more quieter, shy, and... scared. Though could one really blame her?

Quote:
Joliette was silent for a time and looked out over the water before returning her gaze to Amaya "I haven't seen you lately, staying secluded?" she asks quietly, she remembered Awen mentioning running into the lizard girl during the lockout but beyond that had known nothing about how she had been

Quote:
Amaya nodded with a sad frown, curling her legs to her chest and hugging them. "Haven't had... the best interactions lately. Don't wanna run into new people." She said quickly, her tail sliding through the rocks behind her.

Quote:
"Yeah Moreau seem to keep bringing more, I've run into two or three new people myself" she sighs "Perhaps their ... interactions, will be better when they realize what is going to happen... I just hope he doesn't bring any more like that gormless plonker billy"

Quote:
"Billy?" The lizard looked over at her, blinking the green eyes that so matched her scales.

Quote:
"Irish bloke who I think was high, broke my camera lens, and hurt Colche. If he brings any more here like that guy" she shudders at the thought "Least there's others here to protect, like Ambrose and David"

Quote:
"What?!" Amaya snapped, eyes going wide. "How did he hurt Colche?!" She could have swore her heart just skipped a beat.

Quote:
"I'm not entirely sure, she says he's a bad man and that he hurt her, I woke up with her beside me between David and myself, she had bruises all over her abdomen and torso... And she was scared, I could sense that about her." Joliette tried to explain what she knew

Quote:
The girl just... stared, her mouth agape. After a couple of minutes she found her voice. "Is she alright? Does anyone know what he did to her?" Oh god did he... did he her?! If he did then... she would kill him. Oh how she would kill that b*****d.

Quote:
"She seems ok, scared, quiet, and healing from her bruises, but she was asleep last I saw her. I'm not sure if he did... She just called him a bad man, I don't think I've ever heard her call anyone here a bad man before... " Joliette wasn't really surprised at Amaya's reaction she knew the girl was a friend of the cheetah girl

Quote:
Bad man? The time when Amaya had coaxed Colche to sleep from her nightmares immediately came to mind. The bad men she had mentioned. Even though she didn't know exactly what had happened to the poor girl and could only imagine it, imagining such a thing was enough to know what the poor girl had gone through. "Oh my god..." She stood up suddenly and began to pace, her large claws clicking on the rocks beneath her feet. "Oh my god." It seemed to be the only thing she was able to say.

Quote:
"David brought her to our duplex, it seemed to calm her, even though he's a lot more... furry then he once was. I haven't seen the man since I saw him at the river a few days ago personally" she watches the iguana pace and grew silent

Quote:
"Chubbs changed?" The iguana stopped pacing and looked down at her. How much had she MISSED sitting inside her duplex all this time?! While she sulked about what she was becoming some guy she didn't even KNOW might've tried to rape Colche? And Chubbs had changed? What else had she missed?! "Is he okay?"

Quote:
"I think the rage of the beasts is something he's having a hard time controlling, but he seems ok" she rubs her bruised shoulder and upper arm before letting her hand fall

Quote:
Amaya just watched her for a moment before sighing in defeat. Her shoulders slumped and her tail stopped twitching nervously. "Is Colche still staying in your duplex?" She had to go see her. And Chubbs.

Quote:
"She was there when I left this morning, whether she's there still now or not I can't say for certain. I'm not even sure exactly when she got there" She admits

Quote:
"Okay... thanks." The girl nodded and looked around, then back to Joliette apologetically. "I'm sorry to leave you but... I gotta go find her." Hopefully the woman would understand. Colche was like a little sister to her.

Quote:
Joliette nods "All right, you take care Amaya" she understood, she knew that Amaya was closer to Colche then even she was.

Quote:
"You too." Amaya nodded to Joliette and then jogged off down the path. She had to find Colche... she had to.
