Armus giggled. "Well, I guess that settles that," she laughed, hugging Rhea tightly. "Family it is."

Aras was about to say something when she heard a shuffling sound coming from one side, and she looked around to see Kanis through the trees, dragging the water bottle that was very nearly as big as her.

"I'll help you!" she cried, grinning and running off towards her sister.

"Oh, sure," Corrah agreed sarcastically, "since you listen to your father so well. Now you listen to me. We made an agreement, you and I, that I would be your trainer and that as such my word is law. And I'm setting this down: you will listen when your mother teaches you or your siblings. I don't care if you make it look like you're not listening, I don't care if you have your fingers in your ears - but you listen, and you listen good. From the way you're talking, it sounds like she knows a lot about plants - and plants aren't just food and seasoning, they're herbs that can heal or poison. Now if you want to ignore everything she tries to tell you that's your own foolishness, but your sisters and your brother will listen and they will learn and they will have more knowledge than you."

He clicked his teeth together, his lips parting in a sinister grin. "Of course, that would be your own fault. Oh, you want so badly to be smarter than them, to be faster, stronger ... but everything you do shows that you're too proud to measure up to them. Your own pride will break you, boy! Your own pride will ensure that they remain smarter than you! That they will be able to survive and even flourish where you flounder and die."

He squatted in front of Ruran where he lay on the ground and poked the boy's chest hard with his index finger.

"You think I'm doing this out of some respect to your mother," he growled. "Again you are wrong, you foolish, proud boy. It's for your own sake that you should listen to her. No one else's."

Rhea nuzzled against Armus' chin loving the warm feeling of being wanted or loved.

He turned to look at his pack sisters wagging his tail and barking enthusiastic. He tried to encourage them to bring the water then as if just remember or feeling the belt on him he lowered his head to start chewing on the belt trying to get the clothes off.

Ruran wanted to slam and attack the man's fingers. He wanted to beat him. He didn't care about his mother, "I will not let them beat me! They may be smarter but I will for sure not let them beat me physically! I can swear it!" He winced at the poke.

"I would sooner have her die....but becuase you are my master I will listen to her words I might not take them but I will listen..."

Kanis smiled and laughs, "Thank you Aras! What are we having for breakfast sister Armus?"

Armus snuggled Rhea close, and when he bent over to bite at the belt she tapped him smartly on the nose.

"No," she said firmly. "You have no idea how hard it is to get leather good enough for a belt out here."

Aras lifted the back end of the water bottle to help Kanis carry it, her teal eyes shining brightly as they headed back to Armus and Rhea.

Armus smiled at Kanis, putting her finger between Rhea's teeth so that he couldn't chew the belts.

"Bread with meat if you want," she replied cheerfully. "It's one of my favourites ... and a good thing too considering how much we eat it." She laughed.

Corrah snickered. "All the strength in the world means nothing if you haven't got the brains to back it up," he told the boy. "Now be smart. Use your ears instead of your mouth."

He straightened once more and pointed back in the direction they'd come from. "Now get back there and sort the dry wood from the wet wood. Once you're finished I'll show you how to make a fire and I don't want to see any smoke coming out of it."

Rhea growled softly and looked shocked at the tap to his noise. He wriggled and chewed on Armus' finger looking much like a teething puppy.

"Arrass" he mumbled around his 'mother's' finger. He giggled and nuzzled against Armus' chest.

Kani nods, "That sounds good...I don't think we have any cheese....do we or some lettuce?" She smiled watching the wolf puppy in their sister's hands. "Are you having fun Rhea?" She was going to be friendly to there new training partner and it is even easier now that he was clothed.

Ruran wanted to glare but he got up and dusted himself off before walking back to the water fall. He was really starting to hate this. How dare him. He would teach Corrah a lesson.

Aras giggled as she followed behind Kanis, looking up at Rhea.

"He says my name a lot," she noted brightly. "But he sounds kind of growly when he says it ... is that because he's kind of wolfy?"

Armus grinned. "Quite possibly," she agreed, curling her finger to minimize the damage she was receiving from the boy. She turned her attention to Kanis. "No cheese though we may find some wild lettuce or something if we look around. Doubtful, but possible. On the other hand-"

Literally.

"-I think Rhea needs food right away," she sweated a bit, "so maybe we'd better just have meat sandwiches? Next time you girls are out here I'll look for other things to eat. I wasn't expecting to need more meals than usual this time around."

Corrah watched Ruran head back and followed after him slowly. The boy was a menace to himself ... and if he didn't learn to control his temper, he was never going to better himself. He would have to discuss with others ways to train that out of the boy. Training Armus had had its difficulties, but she had never been so obstinate as this boy was already proving to be. She had been stubborn and rebellious, but nowhere near as angry or as hateful.

Rhea wagged his tail and nibbled a bit harder on the fingers then pulled his lips free and gigled, "wwoooofff" He was trying to say wolf. He wanted to learn to speak with his new family.

He tilted his head and moved to plop out of Armus' arms and walk over to sit infront of Kanis "Rhhea" he said and tilted his head.

Kanis started to laughed, "Looks like your going to have your hands full sister Armus." She watched the wolf then sighed. Didn't they already go threw this. "Kanis." she watched as Rhea struggled to try and get the K in her name down. "Meat sandwiches are just find Armus." She nods, "And we have lots of water now."

Ruran sat at the piles and he did a good job he only used the dry twigs and sticks and he piled the wet ones over by a tree almost like her was making a compost pile. Then he looked around and seeing that Corrah was still not around he started to gather some rocks to form a circle around the twigs to make sure the fire did not spread.

Aras giggled. "He's learning everyone's name!" she beamed. "So smart of him! I bet he's real smart, right Armus?"

Armus laughed and squatted down again, watching Rhea closely. "He does seem so," she agreed. "Now come on all of you, let's eat."

She reached into her pack and pulled out the promised food. "Rhea!" she called, holding out a piece of meat to entice him closer.

Corrah took his time following Ruran, and by the time he arrived there was a stone circle around the pile of sticks and twigs. He nodded thoughtfully.

"Not bad," he said softly. "Not bad at all, for a first time."

He sat next to the fire pit and crossed his legs comfortably.

"Now," he murmured, reaching into the circle and picking up the wood, "there is a certain way to make your fire ... you want to make a sort of tent with your wood ... like this ..."

And he made the sticks lean against each other in an upside-down V shape.

"This allowed for air to flow, and you will get more light and heat with less wood, which means that your supply will last much longer and be much more profitable for you."

He looked over at Ruran, then knocked the sticks down again. "Now you do it."

Kanis laughed and shook her head leaning to her sister, "He can't do the K's" she laughed softly and sighed, "Well he is trying to learn...I am sure we can help out our little friend Aras."

Rhea grumbled trying to get the K...why was it so hard "RRRRniss, Garrrnisss." He whimpered a bit and then hearing his name his eyes lit up and he turned. Seeing the meat in his pack mother's hands he crouched down his but going up in the air and his tail swaying.

Slowly he moved towards it as if he was stalking it. He sniffed the air then rushed at the strip of meat.

Ruran nods, "Yes...air flow." he sighed as the tent of wood was knocked down but he started to rebuild it without a word. He could tell that Corrah was starting to get tired of him. He would have to suck it up and work on finding what would hurt Corrah.

After all the best way to show your master how you learn was to beat him. Oh he would find out to beat Corrah down.

Aras giggled. "Yes, we can help him! He can say my name and he says mother because that's what he calls Armus, I just know we can help him to say your name too!"

Armus laughed as Rhea charged for the meat, tossing it up into the air to see if he could catch it - and whether he would use his hands or his mouth to do so. She was having entirely too much fun with him, but she knew that once Corrah found out about him, he was going to work him hard, and she wanted Rhea to know that he could always come to her, that she would always treat him well.

Corrah watched Ruran silently from the confines of his cowl. The boy had a very rebellious attitude, not only towards him but towards life it seemed, and he could see in the boy's eyes that he was plotting something, and he knew that it would not be something good.

Well, he would keep alert, and try to deal with it when the time came.

Kanis nods, "Oh he calls her mother? Thats a bit odd...I don't think Armus is old enough to be his mother." She laughed though and smiles, "Then that would mean we are his aunts!"

[coor=#003300]Rhea was a bit shocked that the meat was tossed up into the air but he recovered quickly shifting his body to turn in mid run he jumped up and caught the meat in his mouth as he rolled head over heals onto the ground and lay on his back smiling with the meat hanging from his teeth to chest.

Giggling he rolled to his feet and padded over towards his mother and sisters. He had caught the meat but he should share it with the females...after all they were older and...well more dominate in the pack it seems.

Rhea plopped the meat on the dirt in front of Aras and Kanis and backed up to steps to sit and wag his tail.

Ruran finished working the small tent of leaves and then nods, "Finished. Did I do it right sir?" His tone was even as if he didn't care if he had to hadn't and clearly he would redo it if he must.

Armus giggled. "Well even if I'm not old enough, I'd like to pretend at least that I'm his mother. I want to take care of him like that. But he wouldn't understand the concept of an aunt: wolves don't have that. There's the pack mother ... which I suppose is me ... and then the alpha male, which, when we meet up with Corrah again, would be him ... and the rest ... are just family."

Aras smiled at Rhea, but her gaze was thoughtful instead of amused as she thought about Armus's words. She picked up the meat that Rhea had dropped in front of her, then looked at Rhea, wondering if it had been a gift of if he had simply wanted to share. She took a nibble off the meat and then held it out to Rhea again, wondering if that was what she was supposed to do.

Instead of answering, Corrah produced a piece of flint from inside his robes as well as a knife.

"Let's find out," he said in the same even tone as Ruran, kneeling forward to start the fire.

It took a few minutes and some careful work, but soon the twigs that Ruran had collected caught flame and began to burn.

Rhea smiled warmly as Aras took the meat and took a bit off it then he moved back to his mother to get more meat to give to his other sister. He would help take care of them. "Gorrrahhhhrrr" he said as he moved to sit in front of his mother his tail wagging.

Kanis nods, "Oh I see...so then you would also be the alpha female or is Aras it because he let her eat first?" She watched the wolf boy move around and was a bit shocked that her sister ate the meat that had been dropped on the ground.

"Well its good to be a family more so if we are training that way we can see that we can trust each other even if Corrah will work us hard." She smiled brightly.

Ruran sat back to allow Corrah to work. He hoped he had done well for himself more that for his master. He was still going to work hard to find what it was that would get under this dark man. He knew if he was calm he could figure it out.

Armus grinned at Rhea and reached out to ruffle his hair. He was so much like a puppy it was adorable - and yet she knew that she would have to train him like a person, and not an animal.

"I don't know," she admitted to Kanis. "It could simply be a matter of he wants to share his food with all of his pack ... like Corrah, I would be the alpha of the family, I just don't know if Rhea would know that much yet ..."

She laughed. "But you're right, it's good to have more people to trust and depend on when things get rough."

Aras was watching Rhea's tail and giggling. It was as green as his hair, and it was so cute! She wanted to pounce on it!

Slowly, quietly, she began to circle around the wolf boy until she was behind him, and then she crawled forward silently until she was right behind him.

"Gotcha!" she squealed, pouncing suddenly and reaching for his tail.

As the fire began to burn, a thin tendril of smoke drifted out from it. The pale wisp faded into the sky just below the treeline, and Corrah stared at it, his expression thoughtful.

To tell the truth, it wasn't bad - for the first time. He glanced down at Ruran, his cold blue eyes emotionless.

"It could have been better," he said finally, "but for your first attempt that was not bad. Eventually you will be able to recognize the proper wood to use without having to test its core, but for now this was not terrible."

He turned to look back at the fire. "And now we wait."
PostPosted: Fri Jul 11, 2008 12:51 pm

Kanis nods, "Yes you are for sure the alpha female Armus...but does he have to drop the meat in the ground. I know we should eat what we have and not wit it but still...he should learn to use his hands right?"

She watched her sister sneaking up on the puppy. Oh my this could get interesting. She looked a bit shocked at her sister's action. It seemed she was really enjoying the pup.

Rhea smiled warmly at the loving ruffle. He was really enjoying his pack mother and his new sisters. He was so focused on his mother that he did not notice Aras' movements.

He blinked hearing Aras shout and turned just in time to see her hands grab hold of his tail. He yipped happily and tried to pull his tail free and tackle his sister.

Ruran saw the smoke and sighed, "There is always room to improve I guess...but one tendril of smoke really is not that bad!" He said proudly. He bet his sisters would not have done so well.

Armus laughed at Kanis. She couldn't help it, the girl was just too cute!

"Food off the ground isn't going to hurt you," she grinned. "If you don't like the dirt you can either clean it off or ... well, whatever. Honestly, though, there's nothing wrong with it."

Aras was jerked forward by Rhea yanking his tail away from her, and she fell against him as he tried to tackle her. The end result was that she was on the bottom but she was on her stomach, lying sprawled out on the ground with Rhea on top of her.

But she was laughing.

"I almost had you!" she squealed, looking up at Rhea over her shoulder. "I'll get you next time!"

Corrah nodded, but his eyes grew slightly colder as he looked at Ruran. "Yes ... not bad," he repeated again, more softly this time. "But not yet perfect. Hold your pride until you can do it perfectly. Until then you have nothing to be proud of."

He sighed inwardly.

"Now," he murmured, "tell me - do not show me, just tell me - how you would extinguish the fire without making more smoke."
