When the monk walked downstairs she sat up, pulled off her shoes and let them slip on the floor. She remained sitting there, one knee drawn up and her foot planted on the mattress, hugging herself, one hand covering her face.
Lucind heard him coming back and turned her head to the side, then upwards - just where she assumed he must be standing. It seemed to be nothing wrong with her amber eyes, still her look went slightly past his face.
The Half-Siren heared him extending an arm therefore she did the same and hesitantly ran her fingers down his arm when she'd found it until she reached the mug and took it into her hands.
"Thank you." She smiled a little helplessly.

"..." Something was wrong. Horribly so.
He knew enough that she should have been able to take the mug out of his hands without having to feel around for him, even in the dim lighting. Especially since he was not use to the touch of others, shying away as her fingers bumped down over the spines on his forearms and took the cup out of his hands.
He didnt say anything, but backed away and sat down, watching her, quiet, brooding.

Resting the mug on the blanket over her thigh she hold on to it. When she spoke her voice sounded quiet but a faint quiver in it revealed how hard she tried to stay calm. Hetel had predicted this was most likely to happen but now that it had become true she didn't like it at all, despite her excellent hearing.
"It'll be all right. My soul just requires enough strength to repair my mental structures...uhm I guess it will only last a few days..."

He reached out and took the mug in his fingers, gently taking it out of the woman's hands as he put it on the counter by her bed.
"Get some sleep." he said quietly.
What was this odd thing he fealt? Something that tugged at the back of his mind which made him stay by her side and take care of her.
Though Kraun did not know this himself, it was the feeling of guilt. A feeling that was foreign to him. A feeling which by all means, shouldn't exist.
But how could that be? This thing to feel, when he had never before? The answer would be from the short lived ritual hours earlier. Not being properly completed, it left sort of an imprint on his mind from Lucind. And with it, a strange phenomenon which left him confused and disoriented.

She nodded and only a few seconds after lying down again sleep had embraced her.
The next time she awoke in the late morning it was even less pleasant. The process of re-organizing her psionic areas and fixing all shields also caused some disturbances for her system wanted to get out all remnants of the ritual's impressions. That is, Lucind had a weird nightmare which mixed different scenes which changed so fast it made her feel sick even in her dream.
Her sleeping frame tensed and curled up. Cold sweat glistened on her forehead. She awoke with a sudden jolt and her eyes flung open. Shivering and panting softly Lucind waited for her heartbeat to slow down.

Throughout the night, the monk sat by Lucind's bedside. In the morning, during her nightmares, he had gone and got a damp warm cloth, gently wiping away her sweat as she slept, until all of a sudden, she jolted and her eyes opened. At that moment, he took his hand and cloth away from her forehead.
"..." Kraun didnt have anything to say. He gently went back to wiping away her cold sweat, brushing her hair away from her face as he did so. It was interesting how one who could bring so much destruction was also one who was immensly gentle.

She didn't spoke for a while and just concentrated on the soft, relaxing touch of the cloth on her forehead. It called back old memories, because with a gesture like this she always associated her mother's care she'd shown whenever the Half-Siren had been sick.
What she really hated about falling ill or feeling physically weak was that tears came easily to her then and even now she felt it dwelling up, therefore the woman closed her eyes and waited for them to stop burning.
Fortunately it was Sunday, so no business for today, none of the employees would come - she wouldn't have to come up with an explanation for now, a story about what had happened to her.
"Is there something left of the tea?"

By now, whatever was left in the mug on the counter would be cold. "I'll go make some more." the monk said as he got up and left the room for the kitchen, taking with him the old cup of tea. Once again, he made a cup of herbal tea from the plants he had collected in the forest, taking it upstairs to Lucind.
And as before, he absorbed some of the heat out of the boiling water so that it was cool enough to drink, but still hot enough to be pleasant. He did not just hold it out for her, but gently put it in his hands when he returned.

She felt the fresh tea running down her gullet and into her stomach. It was warming and made her notice she was indeed a bit hungry. Lucind also wanted to get out of these clothes before the next wave of sleepiness hit her.
"Ah by the way, how do you feel? Hope I didn't mess up your mind or something..."

"..." he actually didnt know how he was feeling, so he simply remained quiet.
"Are you hungry?" Kraun asked, knowing that most people, eat something in the morning.

Getting no answer maybe wasn't a good sign. Lucind decided to pay close attention to his words and acting to see, no, hear if he was really okay.
"Yes, I'd really like to have something. I want to take a shower first, though. And then I guess I'll need a helping hand with preparing something to eat."
She, too, felt guilty for this situation, that she was now reliant on his support. It had been her decision to do the ritual and to bear the consequences. Therefore, the woman wanted to to give her best to cope with her temporary blindness so that she was no burden for anyone.

The monk reached out and took the woman by her hands and helped her up. When that was done, he quietly went down the stairs, pausing a moment and asking her what she'd like to eat before leaving the woman to her own devices as he went into the kitchen and began to cook breakfast.

She thanked him softly when he helped her and answered him that she was fine with some toast, an egg, a bit orange juice and more tea. Again, his behaviour was blatantly contrary to the description Hetel had given.
When she started to carefully pick out fresh clothes Lucind wondered why the Siren hadn't said anything like warning her to be extremely cautious now concerning the monk. Not that Lucind would've cared about it. Maybe there was a truth in the stories Hetel had told but the Half-Siren found no reason to be scared of Kraun. Instead, during the short time span they had spent together she got the impression she could trust him. Even her psionic planes seemed to progress with filtering the monk's aura so that the cold effect had already been slightly reduced.
The shower was refreshing and she felt definitely better afterwards...until she hit her foot on the doorframe when she wanted to leave the bathroom. Swearing aloud she limped to her bed on which she'd placed the new clothes and got dressed.
Finally, she tied her hair, too lazy to blow dry it now, and walked down the spiral staircase and one might've missed she couldn't see. When she arrived in the office, though, her steps became visibly unsure.

During the time Lucind was taking a shower, Kraun would be cooking breakfast. It was not something overly complex and as such, took only minutes to prepare. When she came down from the stairs, the toast would ding out of the toaster, exactly on time.
Leaving the prepared breakfast on a tray, he moved over to her location to help her find a seat before he would go back and fetch her breakfast. He set it down in front of her and waited to see if she had any difficulties eating it.

It worked very well after she asked Kraun to crack(?) the egg for her. She used a tea spoon to put a bit of the egg on the toast and bit off. With this plus juice and tea in her stomach Lucind felt less sick. But standing up and the little walking she had done already started to exhaust her.
When she was full she turned her head in his direction. "I'd like to go outside for a few minutes, just to breath fresh air...maybe up on the roof..." Lucind wasn't excatly keen to be seen by others now.
