*You sound like Savith.* Her mind a bit annoyed as well as males were such babies. *He didn't want me to touch him either but in time was more relaxed and got used to it.* She placed a finger on the base of his tail and ran it slowly and softly up his hip. She didn't press her touch was hardly there. Still in his condition he might freak so she watched his face closely. She knew he was in no condition to swat at her so she did what she wanted unless he showed it hurt him.

Crosscurrents where hidden ebbs beneath moving water. Dangerous if they took one by surprise. He knew this. It was part honor, part tongue-in-cheek for the tribe to give him it as a name.
Since he didn't want to hurt Dancer (impulse control, impulse control..) there were only two options: surrender or swim away.

Jade eyes shifted their glare away. Facing away from Dancer as if settled to ignore her. Being compared to Savith, who had to be the idiotic bird-bonder, destroying the flicker of good humor he would have otherwise have quickly recovered. Twitching as the finger ghosted over him with an intimacy he felt no desire for right now.

Only the slightly increase of blinking hinted at tears - one even an observant Wavedancer might have missed.

**You don't learn very well** he Sent even as he rolled off and away from her. Grabbing his weapon, abandoning his net-bag. So angry that the pain only fueled his speed as he twisted quick as an eel to shoot at a wide angle Dancer couldn't reach him from. Before she had managed to move much he had grabbed the floating basket (a risk he took as he was already gaining speed enough to pull out of her hands if needed) and dashed further into the Vast Deep.

A few of the berries escaped to fall out, as perhaps a few other things, but Crosscurrent hardly cared. He just needed a safer place to recover. Somewhere deeper as it would be days of paying for this move.

 ooc: back in a bit.

Oh her heart sunk. Watching him dart off nearly killed her. Ah but that was her luck wasn't it? Good thing you cannot see tears in the water as she sent a heavy send of sadness, *I'm sorry. I... I'm a fool... Forgive me for your pain.* And out of the water she pulled herself. Leaving everything she brought that couldn't go in the water on the shore.

Crosscurrent would cry in anger, to her, to himself, to the Glider who had a large hand in this, off and on for the rest of the day. Sending a strong (almost desperate) call of friendship out into the Vast Deep. Nothing echoed back. It's silence making a hollow in his heart.
He had mostly recovered. But since he had raced far he must have re-pulled the injury. It blazed like a jellyfish sting! Angry, in pain, he had crashed beneath a small coral branch to rest. There was no need to look at his lower back/hip. The bruise was larger.

It was not merely those elves with animal blood who could snarl. Crosscurrent wept, cursed and devoured the scatterings of berries that remained.

ooc: will be editing for the result. Feel free to jump ahead a day or two if Dancer wishes.

She would come back every day and just sit on the beach. Not sending not moving for a while. If she got up she walked the shallows with a heavy heart. For two nights passing she has done this at various times of the day just hoping for him to return and she didn't intend to rush him this time. He would come back if he wanted to and not because she wanted him to. And so she sat on the third eve as it started getting dark and waited.

Thankfully he suffered no further danger for his stupid stunt. Slowly the anger and isolation-depression faded as he settled to make do again. The creatures of the coral provided both food and distraction. He had Sent strongly each night: as if to Myuadi or his brother, or to coax a passing pod of dolphins...
It was more then relief when he finally 'felt' another answer him. None of them were familiar by name, but their playful curiousity was as welcome as his brother's smile.

The first gray bottle-nose to touch him was a gift of the High Ones. It wasn't long before the strange Pod had befriended him. He clung to one of the larger ones, an older male with a few pale pucker marks on his snout. Between them and his weapon he had more then enough to eat.

The water basket was ruined, but he was reminded of his net-bag. And the original owner he'd taken the basket from.

A sigh of regret. By the third day he was well enough for light movement. Swimming would have tiring at the pace he needed, but the dolphins didn't mind him snaring a ride with a hand on their back-fins. It was keeping them here, where not much of their prefered food was but migrating, that taxed him most. Crosscurrent needed them too much to do otherwise.

She sighed softly as she stood. Moving to the water she went in up to her waist. Fingers lightly glided across the serface of the water. Her midnight hair now wet over her rump clung in places and drifted about in others. Soon she would leave if he didn't show. He would have to want to be here. She hoped he still did.

One of the females (he hadn't named them) was willing to tow him toward land again. Her emotional happiness healing his own mood. His back protested the wave jumping she did for a short time, but he had felt no real reason to ask her to stop until the pain deeped a little.
"Brat," he nearly yelled in laughter when she stayed Above for a breath. The rest of the pod nearby creating currents as they dove close by. A few more reserved dolphins suggesting a better comfort in deeper waters, but Crosscurrent coaxed them onward.

Still, only three younger ones came with him as she coasted into the shallower 'shore' area. One found his net-bag to tease him with. Not seeing anything but his new friends even as he knew they'd be moving on. The older ones had 'spoken' of what they had seen/felt earlier. Tonight he would have much to think on when they left.

She saw the unfamiler fish swim into the shallows and watched them closely. She wasn't sure if they would eat her or ignore her. She had frozen in place as she waited and watched. It made her smile a little to hear the sound they made. It was like they were laughing. They had to be kindly she thought. Nothing so happy could be harmful. In the shadows of dusk she missed Crosscurrents return. To transfixed by the large fish.

It was with great reluctance the he let go of her fin. But they had somewhat promised to return here again. Soon. This was close to where their migration ended anyway. So it was a little easier to drift a little away until he saw the submerged bottom close enough for what he needed. The net-bag twisted to act as a sling for his weapon.
He was almost healed. Time to know how badly. The dolphins squicked their joy, not in any hurry to leave, but wanting to hunt. Crosscurrent enjoyed the background noise as he steeled himself and shifted his tail into legs..

..and with a whimper crashed into kneeling slump. The waves pushing into his back wasn't helping.

She still was watching the fish jump and play. She was almost tempted to move closer to them. And with that she took a few more steps into the water. Now up to her chest. Here she looked like a child following a spell maker. Her smile was wider and she almost forgot about how sad she was.

Crosscurrent had to take a breather. Then, with a grimace, got to his feet and onto the sandy beach. Intent on getting to the lean-to he'd created days ago. It had a slight depression and he intended to merely remove the branches holding the 'cover' up to give him a little protection.
The slow part was bending down. But he made it down, feet digging into the sand where he lay. The edge of cover settled on his head so that it gently angled downwards behind him while letting him see the world clearly.

In moment he had fallen asleep with a half-smile to the sounds of playful dolphins.

And when he woke he would find Dancer sleeping near him. Not near enough to bump him in the slightest but near enough to clutch some of his hair in her hand. It looked as if she needed it to stay alive for even in sleep she would not turn it lose. On the other side of him was a basket of berries, flowers, mushrooms and a coconut shell filled with something slugish that smelled wonderfuly sweet.

			            Okay. He couldn't resist.
With Dancer gripping his hair (thankfully a lower part of the long strands) there was no way to gently wake her...okay, there was, but she needed to be taught a little lesson or she'd be edgy around him. He was well aware of how over-sensitive youths who felt guilty acted if they weren't punished.

It hurt, but he slowly scooped her up. Even if she stirred it was a quick set of strides (gently, don't rock) to the water.

At waist height he dropped her in. Prepared for her abrupt surfacing by sitting down.

Indeed it was abrupt, frantic with wild eyes. Her mind secreamed for a moment. *HELP ME!* Then she realized where she was and who was with her. Dunk or not she smiled. *Ok I deserved that I guess.* It was the shy nudge of we're ok right? in the send. *Did you try any of the things I brought you? How are you feeling? I'm sorry I touched you. I shouldn't have.* And there is the endless amount of questions he has come to know her for.
