[@#%!! i just realised that i need to up my sword skill to 10 by the next RP day rofl so that Kane can get his dao on time >.> Only 9 successes!]
"Hmm..." Kane said good naturedly, thinking on the side. Truth be told he didn't have any idea where Shinichi would be at that given moment. "Actually..." Actually, he didn't know,
"Kane!"
Kane's head whipped across to the only source of the voice it could be, the large, hulking, scary as hell blacksmith of Shimagakure. Mr. Hamma. He was a good man, though, everyone in Shima knew that, and what was this about a good bokken lesson? Kane was interested, and it showed. Turning back to Manuke, he gestured at Hamma and said, "Well, he should know more about it than me. Sorry, I've been kind of out of the loop for the past few days... I think he's going to have a class," Kane continued, his expression inviting Manuke to join in. "Come on, it'll be fun."
As he spoke to Manuke Kane noticed a kid follow Hamma out of the corner of his eye. Hamma's student, probably. Wait. Wow. It was the kid he'd just saved. Kumiko's medical skills were just amazing since Kane was sure that it had barely been less than an hour since he saved him. As he approached Hamma Kane grinned, both at the prospect of finally getting to stretch his muscles and at Ryouta. "Hi dude," he said easily. "Good to see you up so quickly. I never caught your name. I'm Yamanaka Kane." He inclined his head in greeting.

Ryouta looked at the other kid. Where could the other boy that people kept mentioning washed up on shore about an hour earlier than him be? This couldn't be him. "Umm...Hello there! My name is Yamashiro Ryouta, nice to meet you Kane..." he said starring at his feet. "I guess I am going to train with you..." Ryouta stood there and waited for an attack, just in case, Akira had taught him to be ready at all times and to trust no one, no matter how friendly they seemed. And since they were about to train, this was even more of a chance than any to show everyone what he could do. Akira had taught him some basic things that should surely help with training.

Hamma laughed as the boys talked about god knew what. Slinging the bag onto the ground he pulled out staffs for everyone but Kane. "Take ye a staff lads, your first lesson on the island be a rare treat indeed. I be teaching you boys how to handle a weapon with some style. As for you Kane, if you ever want to leave up to your Da's legacy ye best be learning how to fight with a sword like a propa shinobi." looking around at these young snappers Hamma rubbed his beard he was going to have to demonstrate how to use these things. "Find a staff a foot taller then ya and a partner about ye height. We will be practicing attacks and parries as I like to be callin em. When one person strikes the other be needed to block. Switch off every time. Be sure to pay attention now lads this sticks be hurtin and I would rather not be the one draggin ya to the clinic. I will be chiming in every so often to give ye lads some pointers here and there so be listening to what these old bones got to say. Its been awhile since I was a shinobi but I know a few things about weapons." Taking a staff for himself he looked at Kane. "Show me watch ya got boy'oh."

Kane cracked a grin. "Yes..." he acknowledged. "I don't know if I'll go directly against you though. Nice to meet you, Ryouta-san. Don't be so tight!" Kane tried to reassure him. "You won't take the stance properly if you do."
Then he turned to Hamma, and listened carefully. Like almost any other adult in Shimagakure Kane respected him immensely, especially because his mother also held a good impression of him as well. It was her wish that he learn daojutsu and he would try the best he could, and Hamma was the best person to teach him. But when Hamma took the staff for himself Kane was taken aback. "Fight you?!" he said, his tone incredulous at first and then trying to cover it up because it was well, rude. "I mean um... okay," Kane said determinedly. He knew that Hamma was gonna go easy, and he hated it, but at the same time knew that it was necessary as he wouldn't be able to hit even his staff otherwise. Actually, if Hamma was full power Kane's sword would probably shatter and who knows what would happen to him. Taking his one-handed stance (similar to a fencing stance) gleaned from a couple of books and previous lessons from Hamma he thrust his blade forward before swishing it a bit in an effort to break through the defence he knew was coming.

Feeling the defence give, just a little made Kane more motivated to press on. Twisting the wooden sword a little so that the sharpest (but still quite blunt, actually...) edge was going directly against the staff, Kane pushed. He wondered how strong the resistance would be, and also briefly wondered how strong Hamma was in real life. It was taking all the strength in his willowy body to just sustain the attack which was quite sad, but then again Kane didn't profess to being a bodybuilder. Kane also didn't consider strength a high priority, although he did need to train it. Just like any other aspect of his body. He'd read though that the dao required agility, deftness etc. above all and was working on those exercises that Natamo-san had taught him before the Orochi mission. Kane also realised that these internal monologues would really hamper him in battle situations in the future, and that he needed to get out of them. Maybe by noticing his surroundings more.
Keeping up the pressure, his eyes gradually took on a much more serious expression. Kane was actively concentrating on his surroundings now. He was aware of the cool air brushing his face as well as the hardness of the wood digging into his palms. He was also aware of his offensive failing and his sword being pushed back into his face.

Hamma was caught off guard by the boys fire. He charged with a passion he had not seen in a long time. Coming the way Kane did the only thing Hamma could do was to stop the blow. "Aye, lad. Ya have some balls to come full force the way ye did. I wont let you get by me like that again." It happened though the boy broke through and got the jolly old giant. "Ha Ha, way to be laddie!." Hamma yelled with a fire loving the boys skill and finesse with such little practice. The boy came again this time he tried to push through the defense but that only earned the boy a quick place on the ground. As the boy came Hamma slipped his staff into the ground and tripped Kane's advance. "Come now boy'oh, ye best be learning to study your opponent, weapon, and surroundings quicker then that now. Ye first blow be a good'in but don't let that give you a big ego. There be many more things that decide a factor in battle. Now come on boy'oh show me that fire your father be given ya."

Kaoru listened to what the large man had said, before grabbing his staff. He held it in his hands, and gently balanced it with his pointer finger. Kaoru watched his opponent in the corner of his eye, who also had his staff. He launched his in the air, caught it, and swung it overhead at Ryouta, trying to hit him from above.

Ryouta deflected Kaoru's downward slice and then sidestepped right. Close call... He thought to himself. Good thing I prepared myself. And then, in one swift motion, Ryouta swung his staff at Kaoru's feet, attempting to catch him off guard.

And posting, you guys are doing nicely but try to add more description. What your thinking the environment how you feel about the fight the touch of the staff and the strikes your body motion your strength and endurance at the time, clothing sweat weather.))

[Sorry I took so long to post, I was sick sweatdrop ]
Manuke looked at the two younger boys' training and straightened his back a bit. These guys are pretty fast...... Manuke watched their movements closely, trying to judge their skill. Sighing as his slouch returned, I'm gonna train to be like these guys. He moved his gaze over to Kane's training with curiosity. Although their sparring was more intense, it was more lighthearted and friendly. His attention returned to the two boys again with a renewed interest.

Hamma turned and looked to see the boys fighting nicely but to see another boy in the mix. "Hey Laddie, who be ya and why aint ye got a staff. Come here boy, ya was late now you got ta pay da price. Pick ya up a staff there and come ye ova here and let me see what ya got." Hamma knew now he would be taking on two but with his skill in weapons he had confidence in his ability to fight Kane and the new comer to the beach. It couldn't be to hard. Kane was a tough fighter for his wee young age but theses students started just where he did knowing nothing. It would be interesting to see how things unfold.

Kaoru slammed back into the ground from the recoil of Ryouta's block. He noticed Ryouta was quickly prepared, and was already swinging his staff. Kaoru held up his staff and held it sturdy to block the incoming attack. As Ryouta's staff neared Kaoru's, Kaoru's mind went into slow motion. This guy was pretty good, and good enough to counter Kaoru. He figured the it might be a good move to befriend this one.
