"Thank you," Emelyn said, recognizing by the sound in Aubrey's tired voice that the conversation was summarily over. "...But if it's all the same- I'd prefer to leave on my own. I don't intend to go back to the village." She stood, wincing as she did. "...But I'm sure you knew that."

Aubrey nodded. "I have to walk you out myself regardless," she said quietly.

"Understood." Emelyn picked up the neatly folded pile of clothes- fully intending to walk out as-is, with the bundle under her arm. "Lead the way."

Aubrey led Em out in silence, leaving her on her own devices once she was out of the gate.

"The stitches are biodegradable," she said before she left, "So you won't have to come back to get them removed."

With a small wave and a sad smile she watched her walk off before heading back into the labs.

New Moreau/Aubrey RP - Carefully inserted into the timeline.

It had been several days since Moreau had even seen Aubrey. Either he's been avioding her, or she had been avoiding him... but whoever's fault it was, when Aubrey finally stumbled into Moreau's office she looked.. bad. Her hair was more frizzy than normal, there were circles under her eyes, and the silk scarf that she used to hide her bandages and bruise was long since forgotten and discarded. She carried a large stack of files. "Oh... you are here, Nick." She looked a bit surprised to see him.

"Yes Aubrey," Moreau bit his lip a bit. "You look... well."

Moreau was currently pouring over some of the more troublesome serums he was working to develop a couple of insect serums that they were starting with, so far a mantis and a bumblebee. Developing a way for the genetic code was more difficult with the creature being so... alien. He closed the files he was going over.

"Did you need me for something?" he asked, looking concerned.

"Well in case you haven't noticed," she said somewhat bitterly, "things aren't going very well." She dumped the files on his desk. "And you have your communicator set so even I get redirected... to DUVERT of all people." She did not look very happy.

"I'm sorry Aubrey, there is a lot to do after we were gone for so long. Do you know that some of the serums were put on hiatus completely." Moreau looked flabergasted. "Apparently without me or you they were unable to overcome certain... genetic difficulties."

"Well..." Aubrey plopped heavily into a chair and propped up her feet on his desk. "I took care of Billy. And then had to deal with trying to control Colche. Then I released Mr. Reedy, who then went and tried to EAT Ms. White. And to top it all off, Ms. Swanson is... I don't know. Failing."

"I know about Ms. Swanson... I'd seen her biometrics." Moreau sighed.

Moreau tapped the desk lightly with the back of his pen as he looked back down at his files for a moment. "How did you handle Billy and Colche." I'm suprised you ever let that psycho out of the cage."

Aubrey got a sadistic grin. "Oh, I took a little momento from him to make sure he'll never forget." She reached in her labcaot pocket and pulled out a small specimen jaw and slid it across the desk to Moreau.

Moreau paled, it took a lot to make him pale. Moreau knew of course what that item was, exactly. "You took his testicale?" the rest of the conversation forgotten.

Moreau wasn't sure if he'd gone too far with this. He wasn't sure if he should be... proud of scared.

She shrugged. "He's a healthy young man, drugs nonwithstanding. It won't effect his personality of hormones levels. Its a powerful message."

"I... guess that is true." Moreau was still a little bothered by it. He thought for a moment then he smiled at her. "I'm sure he got the message atleast."

"Well done Aubrey." he said with a satisfied smirk.

"I have no idea where to start with Ms. Swanson," she sighed. "And Mr. Reedy...is worrying me."

Moreau sighed. "I can take a look at her, see if we can get her to stabalize."

Moreau walked back to one his cabnets and pulled out a file. "In the... simulations we did have a .02% error ratio. It seemed worth the risk, stastically of course."

Of course, Moreau hadn't let this research out of his own personal records. Even Aubrey didn't know.

"Of course... we knew this would happen eventually.. just... " she sighed, "what do we do? I was hoping to have a fix for it by now.. but the animals tests have been...dismal, at best. And I really don't want to lose her. Poor Ambrose.." Aubrey's brow creased and she sighed, obviously upset abuot the 'happy couple

Moreau stood up... "We'll see what we can do. I'll get on it personally and get a team of our best technicians assigned under me."

"We'll try to see if we can develop something to stabalize her." he said, he didn't sound sympathetic, he was more worried about loosing a valuable piece of research, besides it he could overcome this in her case perhaps he'd be able to do so in future cases.

Of course, Moreau wasn't sure if there was anything he could do for the poor girl.

"Ms. White had to have stitches thanks to Mr. Reedy," she scowled, "And Ambrose is a basketcase." She rubbed her temples.

"Mr. Maurlias," Moreau paused to remind Aubrey that the islanders were last names to him, not first names, those were too personal. The only islander he refered to by her first name was Lauren. "Will have to deal, let him know we are doing everything in our power and will get our finest minds working on it."

"As far as Ms. Reedy, if he continues to be a disruption measures will have to be taken." Moreau sighed. "I hope he has been keeping himself in check since."

Moreau nudged Aubrey a bit. "You know, it's unfortunete that an innocent Ms. Swason had to suffer such a fate while Mr. Reedy's injection, while delayed, was a complete success."

"I guess life just isn't fair." he said as he put up a file.

"No kidding," she sighed. "You know... it IS very romantic. Ambrose and Angelina... they seem relatively content with just the fact that they were together." She shifted and rested her head on her elbows. "I hope she makes it. That would be... hard if we lost her."

"And a loss of a fortune in genetic research." Moreau sounded a bit disgusted at this waste.

Moreau patted Aubrey's shoulder. "Still, between us, we might be able to save her"

He kissed her lightly. "We are the two most brilliant minds on the island."

She gave a smile, "Yes. Thank you, Nick. I hope so."

"You go assemble those scientists, I want the best of our best." Moreau gathered up some basic paperwork.

"I'll get to work." he walked out of the Office.

If Aubrey was attracted to brilliance and arrogance, Moreau was certainly the right man.

Aubrey watched him go. She considered curling up on the couch and falling asleep. But she gave up and pulled out her communicator to start collecting the team.

New RP

Once again, when Billy would awake he's be in a hospital like white room deep in the labs. This lower tenticale's stub would be wraped in medical tape, and he'd be attatched to a saline drip IV. A tray next to his bed would have the familiar sandwich and glass of water.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 27, 2006 8:39 pm

Billy awoke with worse than a hangover. As the room came into focus and he was able to register the clean white ceiling above him, his whole body tensed. A searing pain shot up from his stomach and he immediatly reached a numb hand down to investigate his lap, relieved to find everything important that was left still intact. His hand brushed by the twitching nub of the tentacle he had cut off and he winced in pain. s**t. s**t s**t s**t what had he been thinking?? The events slowly came back to his muddled, pain-wracked mind and he shuddered. He had gotten too drunk, that's what had happened. He hadn't been thinking.

He leaned back again, clenching his eyes shut to the bright lights above. Damn it. Damn it damn it damn it. He hated this. He hated this. It was insane. People turning into animals... he remembered the blood that had come from him... if it could be called that. He wondered if that's what pumped through all of him, now. Inhuman juice. Next time, he should have cut his throat.

A bit after he awoke, the door swung open and a familiar face strode in, clipboard in hand. "Well, Mr. Woodrow," Aubrey said in a neutral voice. "I'm getting quite the collection." Thie slightly hint of a smile was on her lips before vanishing. "Seriously though, self multalation.. that came as a surprise to me..."
PostPosted: Mon Mar 27, 2006 9:26 pm

Billy flinched slightly at the sound of the all-too-familiar voice. It was a few minutes befor he spoke, his voice low and pained through his hangover and the pain from his amputated tentacle. "I was drunk," He grunted simply.

Aubrey frowned slightly. "You like poisens, don't you?"

She came over slowly, trying to look non-threatening. "It was difficult to treat," she said. "Stitches wouldn't hold. We didn't want to rish cauterizing on the sensitive tissue... we eventually found a mix of 'liquid skin' - you know, the liquid bandage film, and steptic powder that seemed to work. But I would be very. very careful the next few days with that." Aubrey looked down at him. "Maybe we can make you a little sling." Surprisingly there was no sense of bitterness in her voice this time around. She almost sounded..motherly.

Still, he glowered, lips pursed in subdued hatred. He was not happy to see Aubrey again, nor was he happy to be in the hospital. But he had brought it upon himself this time. "Who woul' y'li' me t'hurt next, then? I already go' th'punishment out o' th'way, eh? Although it seems I still don' need t'do anythin' t'get somethin' removed, eh?"

Aubrey pursed her liips. "You're punishment was taken out for crimes committed," she said. "As far as I'm concerned you keep in your pants, at least around the nonconsenting, and we don't have to bring up that grissly matter ever again."

She checked his charts and fluids in the IV. "And the reason you got your tentacle removed, Mr. Woodrow, is because you removed it yourself. One can argue that crime would be simple stupidity. Or drunkenness. Either way, you'll learn eventually that you can control how easy or difficult of a time we make your lives here to be."

She sighed. "Regardless, the good news is... this tentacle just might grow back."

His face bagan to tremble as she talked. Crimes comitted. Crimes committed! Easy for her to simply say it! Did she ever *look* at the tape properly? She was a doctor! Antony had believed him, and Antony had hated him to begin with! "Feckin' stupid gel..." He snarled befor the second part of her statement clicked in his mind, ".... Grow... back?"

"I'd watch your mouth if I were you," she said, her brow falling to an even line on her forehead. "You saw the tape."

She scribbled something on her keyboard. "Maybe. Octopi can regenerate limbs. You're not... exactly a full blooded octopus... but we're hopeful! Its why I didn't cauterize the stub."
PostPosted: Tue Mar 28, 2006 1:25 am

"Aye, I saw th'tape. An' I still say th'same thing, y'bloody moronic b***h. Y'jes' want a bloody skapegoat, on account o' being lazy," Had Billy been brave enough, he would have said this, but instead he mearly grunted, face trembling as he took in the rest of the information, "Learn a lo' from this experiment, eh? Good fer mankind an' all tha' crap?"

"Yup!" she said, dotting an 'i' on they clipboard in an exagerrated enthusiastic way, knowing it would probably annoy him. "Its all quite facinating." She smiled a 'friendly' smile, but the glint her eyes spoke volumes.
