 Part I – The Sentinel
Player: giftwrapped Name: Verdigris Nicknames: Gris, pronounced “Gree” Species: Sentinel of Noctua Age: Adult Hatch Date: 21 June Type: Wildtype Task: Skydancer Personality: Gris is remarkably calm and collected, graceful and quiet and polite, generally good-natured and extremely pleasant. He is the sort you wouldn’t mind spending any amount of time with. Easy to get along with and very good in company, he spends most of his time in quiet conversation and very little actually performing. He prefers to keep the performing to a minimum, so his passion continues to be fun and not a job. Along with Skydancing, he also excels in telling stories and riddles, particularly riddles, and likes watching flight classes.
He likes younglings, and occasionally he’ll request to teach a class or two of older fledglings, just to get a feel for how the newest generation is shaping up.
A romantic like most bards, Gris is unashamed of his preferences for males, and while he’s generally a bit of a flirt, he’s extremely sensitive as well. Type preferences don’t matter as much to him, since his preferred pairings won’t produce aberrant offspring, but he is not as young and progressive as many of his contemporaries. He prefers that mated pairs stay within types and always seems surprised when he comes across healthy aberrants.
Stern and violent when he’s angered, don’t be fooled by his apparent complacency. Gris is a fierce fighter, and the size of his territory isn’t just some fluke. Anyone finding themselves up against this particular lad is likely to be surprised by his ferocity.
History: Skydancing is in Verdigris’ blood. Though it skipped his parents’ generation (his mother was an artisan, his father a solemn, thoughtful teacher) it ran strong in the blood on his mother’s side, to the days before the Great Clan Wars. His father’s side ran more to scholars and the more thoughtful breed of storytelling bard, but nonetheless, Verdigris never wanted for a rich oral history.
Taught to fly by a Skydancer and brought up on rhymes and riddles, Gris was an artist from his hatching. It was no surprise to anyone that when it came time for him to graduate, the talented youngling would take his place in Noctua’s community of bards. The only one it truly surprised was Gris himself, who almost regretted his decision not to expand into some other field. Nonetheless, he threw himself into his task with the same conscientious thoughtfulness that he treated everything and everyone. He became a gifted storyteller, but his mind was often as naught elsewhere. He wanted to do something different.
It wasn’t long before the young bard found himself on the branches of his grandfather’s tree, requesting lessons in the artistic aspects of flight. The elderly Sentinel was happy to comply, though his wings were not what they had once been. Indeed, Verdigris learned as much theory as practice from the old Sentinel and kept up his lessons until his grandsire died, upon which he took on his role in practice, though not yet in formal recognition. It would be almost a year before he was appointed to the role of Skydancer.
Once he earned the position, though, he kept it. And he will keep it until such a time as he has trained another in his art. Perhaps he will die, or perhaps he will instead retire and take his place as a teacher.
Territory: One of reasonable size a bit outside the Deep Woods, where he can have a few large trees and also several apple trees. Nests in an elderly oak on the farthest-out edge. Mate: None Companions: None Certificate:
 --- Part I – The Sentinel
Player: Dark Fire Angel Name: Chuchip Nicknames: Chip, Chipchip Species: Sentinel of Noctua Age: Adult Hatch Date: 30/09/200? Type: Shadow Task: Skydancer Personality: If there's someone that fits the description of 'bird brained', it's Chuchip. With the attention span of a flea and the ability to somehow jump from thing to thing without giving much of a care of the whirlwind of flurry he leaves in his wake, it's probably a miracle this male can get much of anything done. Despite this, he does try hard! Or at least, he's convinced he tries hard. Not only this, but if asked, Chuchip will argue that he's particularly perfect at everything he does, thank you very much, and no amount of failure seems to convince him of the opposite. Cheerful and naive, he's happy to make friends with almost anyone (so long they will acknowledge just how superiorly pretty he is! Then again, as far as he's aware, even those whom won't admit to him being prettier, know he is - they're just ashamed to admit to it openly, obviously). Despite his many faults, Chip is persistent and horribly bullheaded when he feels he wants something, and will stop at nothing to help a friend in need. While his 'intelligence' is questionable, his grace and elegance while flying can not be argued. They say music can sooth a monster's soul; Chuchip will argue that a 'dance' in flight might just charm said monster even more. Overconfident and a bit of a drama queen at times. History: Born the only child in his clutch to a pair of hunters. His parents were soon surprised to notice their son held little interest for the task and instead preferred to spend his time singing. Later, when his wings permitted him to, he added the aspect of dance to his songs. He graduated and became a bard, only to become enchanted by the idea of Skydancing. Having a new goal in life, the cheerfully confident male pursued it with the tenacity of a hunter and after apprenticing to an older Skydancer, soon took the Task into his own wings. Despite the fact he obviously has talent, he's still young and his confidence sometimes gets in the way of his future. He still has much to learn, as far as life goes. Territory: He holds a mediocre territory a small way away from Deep Woods. All in all, it doesn't seem to hold much interest to others, however, despite its size and location, Chip delights himself in the fact many of the bushes and a couple of the trees there are particularly colorful come spring. He's long since decided it more than makes up for its few faults in beauty. Mate: None Companions: 2 Parus Certificate:

Part II – Companions
Name Quid Species: Parus Age: Adult Speech Ability: 3 Intelligence: 3 Skill: While he is prone to getting confused with orders, he more than makes up for it with his wonderful song; technically, that's all he does. Quid puts the so called 'music in the air' when Chip performs.
Name: Quo Species: Parus Age: Adult Speech Ability: 1 Intelligence: 5 Skill: While Quo is not nearly as eloquent as Quid when it comes to talking, she's more efficient at following orders. Her flight patterns match Chip's when performing

Part I – The Sentinel
Player: Annchen Name: Honeysuckle Nicknames: Species: Sentinel of Noctua Age: Adult Hatch Date: April 13 Type: Deep Woods Task: Featherstyler Personality: Honeysuckle is ambitious and very serious about her task. Damage her precious feathers and she will hunt you down and maul you beyond recognition. She is stubborn to a fault but mostly channels this into a quiet determination that tends to take her where she wants to, or at least take her to interesting places. She gets very frustrated when things are not going her way.
She believes that it's important to work towards a goal and tends to expect others to be as focused as she is. She tries to be patient with her own chicks, but she slips up sometimes.
History: After a season serving as Watcher Honeysuckle decided on a career as Artisan. With her determination it didn’t take long for her to find a seasoned old featherstylist to apprentice for and she always tried to do more than what was asked from her. She had to work hard before she could finally take on the task of featherstyler, but have since settled in her role, and is now confident in her own ability.
When she started to get a reputation as an Artisan Honeysuckle decided she wanted a suitable mate and started looking. Nasty rumours told that she chose Sanguine because she liked the status of having a hunter as a mate, and not because she liked him. The rumours have quieted down somewhat during the seasons they've been together.
Sanguine and Honeysuckle have raised one chick together before their present clutch. Sorrel was always a bit of a mommy’s girl, but hasn’t shown any interest in following her wing beats and become an artisan.
Her proudest day (yes, prouder than the day her first chick hatched) was when the old featherstyler gave her the pair of ancient scissors she is rarely seen without. She would like to be able to pass it on to her chick or grandchick one day.
Territory: The territory she shares with her mate is located in the south east Deep Woods. The territory is not very big, and the large tree that is their home is quite unremarkable. What makes it an attractive territory is the small stream and the abundance of berry bushes and berry trees. Mate: Sanguine Companions: Certificate:

Part II – Companions
Name: Feather Species: Mus Age: Adult Speech Ability: 3 Intelligence: 3 Skill: Useful whenever Honeysuckle is in need of a second set of hands.
--- Part I – The Sentinel
Player: Dark Fire Angel Name: Bushfire Nicknames: Bush Species: Sentinel of Noctua Age: Adult Hatch Date: 27/03/200? Type: Wildtype Task: Forager Personality: Proud and sure of herself, mostly due to her upbringing. Doted on by those that raised her, confident in her skills, with a tendency to overlook her own faults and mistakes in favour of her achievements. Slightly immature and selfish, thinking herself superior merely due to lineage and her 'pure' blood; despite this, Bushfire is a hard worker and does not allow others to do her work for her. Capable in that what she does know how to do, and seemingly willing to learn that what she does not. Flawed in that she does not admit to her own mistakes and takes things much too personally than she probably should; it will take time and patience to learn that perhaps, what she was taught is not always 'right', and that maybe that what she'd always thought tho be right is more than slightly 'unfair'. History: She was born and raised in one of the proudest Wildtype families and brought up to be proud about her spotless family history. Her bloodline had never been diluted by hybrid breedings. True to her upbringing she found a mate in another purebred Wildtype and they managed to take a decent territory. Earlier this year when their first clutch arrived one chick was dead in the shell and the other was... abnormal. The evidence has since been disposed of, and the pair are no longer mates for fear of hatching more freaks, but the scars still remain on some level. After the uproar she caused when she exposed her past, she slowly moving on with her life. Territory: Holds a good territory with excellent foraging grounds west of Deep Woods, and she chases off anyone who tries to settle into her home. Has recently allowed a Hunter to stay within her territory so he can help with the workload. Mate: --- Companions: A Mus and a Skurri Certificate:

Part II – Companions

Part I – The Sentinel
Player: Mogami Name: Hollysong Nicknames: Holly. He secretly dislikes being addressed as Song even though some sentinels do. Species: Sentinel of Noctua Age: Middle-aged adult Hatch Date: 04/07 Type: Chestnut Task: Storyteller
Personality: Holly is a gentleman, thoughtful and rational. He is not a witty sentinel. In fact, he is often described as having no sense of humor at all and while one can’t honestly say that assessment is entirely correct, it is not without some foundation of truth. Holly takes his task very seriously and can be very frustrated when things don’t go exactly as he plans them. He deeply understands concepts such as consanguinity, fertility and genetic potential and yet he is clueless on matters like attraction and love. He is somewhat distant even towards his family (with the possible exception of his mate, Senna) and when he is not researching or teaching the youngsters at the enclaves, he can be usually found on some secluded place, alone, lost in his own thoughts.
History: Holly followed his father’s footsteps and became a Storyteller. He started out as a bard, researching stories of the Clan (especially those relating to his type) in order to pass them on to the younger generation. Slowly his interest in the Chestnut history grew deeper and he took interest in every Chestnut’s lineage as he began to memorize the complex family tree of this type. Knowing how important it was to maintain the health and prosperity of the small Chestnut minority, he joined others in the study and understanding of the thin balance between purity and health. Pretty soon, he was offering advice on who should be mated with whom and whose youngsters should never be joined. Even though it was an interest he had to pursue at first, in his latest years it became common for other sentinels (and not just those of the Chestnut type) to be the ones to seek him out to ask for his advice.
As most Chestnuts, Holly grew up with the notion that he wouldn’t have the option to choose his mate. With the survival and strength of his type hanging in the balance, such choice has always seemed trivial to him. He was paired up with a lovely female, slightly younger than himself and even though there is obviously no passionate flame between them, they’ve developed a solid relationship based on trust, respect and companionship. There is love there, one might say, just not the type that Holly tends to associate with hopeless fools. He has fathered 6 daughters (2 separate clutches).
Territory: Three trees in the deep woods close to several young Chestnut families. Mate: Yes. Senna. Companions: A very clever Chirop with very good memorizing abilities who delivers messages for Holly. He is brightly dyed and easily recognized in the neighborhood. Certificate:

Part II - Companions
Name: Flut Species: Chirop Age: Adult Speech Ability: 5 Intelligence: 4 Skill: Not the most clever of chirops but he’s still a good messenger. He only knows a few long sentences like “You’re late for your appointment” and “Hollysong the Storyteller requests the pleasure of your company”. During a conversion between sentinels he also memorizes what they say (for a very short period of time of course) which makes him rather useful in an argument.
