Devvyl trotted back through the forest toward the borders of his packlands. He'd been gone for only a few weeks but it'd seemed like forever... the visit had been worth it though. He'd met a few new wolves, picked up a recruit... life was good.

He looked back down at the tiny pup trotting beside him and grinned. They'd been walking for only a few hours today, having covered most of the long journey the day before. Tired yet? he asked, good-naturedly. We're almost there.

Devvyl tilted his head in thought. He'd brought down a fawn for themselves yesterday morning, so he was still appeased, but she was a growing pup and needed more food.

If Selia hasn't already gotten something, I'll get us some food, he promised. It won't be long now though.

And as he said so, the large boulder came into view, the same one that the alpha male had met Feanaro next to the last time he had seen the masked wolf. It signaled the border of his territory, and without warning he dropped his haunches to the ground and let out a howl.

(( 4laugh YAY! DAIM! *attacks* heart ))



Elphie locked eyes with Neka and gave a tired, happy smile. She scooted her body about an inch forward so she could feel his gentle breath on her muzzle. The shewolf stayed that way for a while bathed in the deepening sunset with her mate, until her hooded cat-green eyes finally closed, succumbing to slumber. She couldn't remember anything after that, except an eventual fulfilling warmth -- perhaps she had snuggled into Neka in the night.

Elphaba lay half awake in the morning sun, her eyes still closed, her mind numbed as it hung on persistantly to the last shreds of slumber. The female was soothed by Neka's presence. Dimly, she was aware of the male's steady breaths and the welcome pressure of his side. So nice.. to just lay here.. forever..

A crisp howl cut through the air. Elphaba's ears shot up, and she jolted with a start from her quasi-sleeping state. Huh? Her eyes darted to the landscape over the cliff's terrace, confused. It took Elphie a second to latch onto the voice. Devvyl! The thought filled her with excitement and anxiety. Her friend had returned! ...How would the alpha deal with Neka?

As a second, smaller sound filled the air Elphie gave a growl of confusion. What was that? A pup. It had to be a pup. Devvyl had brought a newcomer. Elphie shook her head with a tiny hint of a smile. Dev always seemed to have a way with the little ones.

The brown wolf turned to her mate to see how he fared.

Soul picked at her fur quietly to herself. It had been a while since she talked to Elphie. A mere few days? But she felt it had been a long while. Her ears flicked back as she continued to cleanse her fur.

Soon though, a familiar howl rang out in the pack grounds and the rest of the woods. It took her a few moments to gather up her mind on who it was. "Devvyl" She stood slowly, easing her way up, and then looked around for Isaac or Aoiko. They both were no where to be found. With a low snort of sadness, she turned to the forest and inhaled. Possibly his scent had drifted close enough for her to smell. Nope. With a swish of her tassel, she stood, haunches lifted off the ground just barely, awaiting the alpha's return.

"Tha' alpha then," he commented idly to himself, not one to easily forget such important details...especially not now in a place he was unfamiliar with. "Eh suppose we should go n' see 'im then...give 'im proper welcome back and a' that."

Slowly he stood, stretching his back carefully in preparation of a potentially long run, his tail fanning out behind him in the light breeze.

"Yeh," he said briefly, admiring her form as the sun danced off her sleek fur. Damn...he was a lucky wolf! "Ready when yeh are."
