someone pm the rules to me! xp
That is STILL against the law.
Stop asking for rules. neutral

jeez dont get so testy

Your best bet would be to just buy the rulesbook. Any further asking for rules will result serious repercussions.

As for the chart that Mykal was referring to, it can be found here.

While it may be public domain, we can't risk having that b***h whine about it again. Before you know it, it's illegal to link to a site.

I started out with orks and I love them. Sure I did some stupid things in a couple of skirmishes with my brother, but I showed him the meaning of kharma when I took out his Crisis Suit with my BS2 Dreadnaught and its double rokkit launcher. Fear the 8 strength of the highly inaccurate ork rokkit!

i find mariens are my easiest opponents for my nids nothing but a vehicle can stand up 90 attacks twisted even if they are only at str3 adn fexes are awsome 10 str 6 shots from 1 model with 8 of which are re-roll wound and hit twisted twisted rending claws are fun too

I still say Space Marines preform best for new gamers, but if you want to learn use the Imperials/Tau depending on what kind of style of play your looking for..... I learnt with Eldar.....so I had to learn fast.

I think too many people just stick with the space marines, GW should try to make more of those scenarios like Maccarage except with other races.

well i play warhammer Dark elves but my cousin plays 40K and he's space marines. Is Chaos a good starting army?

The natural progression would be Dark Eldar, but Chaos is a nice forgiving army for most players. biggrin

At the same time Ive seen new players intimidated by the sheer amount of possibilties upgrades and choices available to them. Also theyre a bit more complicated. I recomend new players do marines. I started with Eldar, so Ill assume theyre not that bad to start with as Im still here, and tau seem like an appropriate choice as well.

While your point about Chaos is true, I don't ever recommend marines for new players, since once there's an investment, you're not likely to switch, and if there's one thing the hobby could use, it's less marine players.

In fact, I don't think I'd ever suggest an army based on its ease of use. He needs to pick something that's going to work with his style and his aesthetic, or he'll never get into it.

That said, my key advice for beginning Chaos players? Don't bother with gifts or wargear. You'll have a stronger army for it.

I find that the tau arent hard to get used to, although I certainly havent had much experience. I find that their armory items and hard wired add-ons are easy to peice together and the mechanics are easy, shoot, shoot some more, move backwards and keep shooting.

I find many people choose marines because of the look, because of the possibilities of how you can take them look and fluff wise. I think ease of use should be considered, but personal style and look should be the major factors i agree.

Thats how I started, I liked the evil aspect and that they were mutated incarnations of chaotic abilities...

Space marines are always a good choice because of their almost unkillablility and strenght, but any good 'nid or chaos player can run laps around the armored warriors. but if you still want to play as these defenders of humanity but use somthing "special" pick up one of the varient space marine codex's (blood angels, dark angels, space wolfs, or black templars).

another good army to start is chaos, but be carfull on which chapter you choose, because if you start iorn warriors you cant reap the full benafit of deamons, or if you do khorne, lucius is a big no no, but they probably have the biggest variation for one army, (iorn warriors a pure gunns, wile world eaters are pure assault.)

and finaly theres necrons, they're space marines that never die. after killing a necron it can just stand right back up onto its feet, its not a pretty sight for your enamy when those 40 warriors that just got poped by all 3 of their vindicators, and 2 tactical squads stand up like nothing happend. they also have the monolith, lets keep it simple, troops teleport to it, and it shoots every squad within 12" with D6 shots, its also immune to armor destroying weppons. i hate necrons...

lol exaggeration. Ask a Necron player the bad things about playing Necrons.
I bet it's not a short list.
