"Long as they don't start tussling." Giving a nod to her friend, "And you pick up the extras, I'm merely feeling out the body itself." Scrunching up her nose those as Hunter took to barking orders once more at every one, barking twice when some didn't jump fast enough. "As far as letting guns get past his defenses...better get some fire proof metals or some acid to eat through his scales. I could always rot that sort of thing away I suppose...but that means helping more than is needed at the moment and he may have his own surprises. I would advise to merely not poke the sleeping dragon with a sharp stick right now....and if you lay a hand on her, I'll make sure you lose it. Why should she be subjected to work where she's treated like dirt anyway? Blame your own crew for the lack of effort on the part of others." Oh blunt.
"Oh right, I'm selfish. Well, that mystery is solved." Still carefully guiding her ship though she was watching the dragons for the moment, from the natural formed ones over to the little white and then even to Des over on the Chimera. "If things go bad Thobias, there's nothing we can do but pray." Shaking her head before looking over at the sharp whistle and the point and then back to Thobias. "Seems Hunter wants an audience with our little star friend, would you care to give her the message dear?"

Shyrae frowned at Hunter's snapping and shook her head, "I'm not needed down there, Hunter. My duties for the day are done. You will have your meals, piping hot and on time." Glancing out at the dragon again, she nodded. "Yes, he's got some defensive things that we'll need to watch out for and we aren't fully sure what else is on his body. I don't sense too many spells but there are spells to take care of that as well."
"I know and that's what worries me. Never held much store by praying anyway. Always figured what was going to happen was going to happen and a few whispered words wouldn't do much to stop it." He glanced over at the whistle and then dropped a kiss on Gem's cheek. "Of course I would." Thus over to Eilynne and he bowed his head. "Milady, the other captain appears to want your presence before him. If you would like to oblige, feel free. If not, that is your choice."
Eilynne turned and nodded to Thobias. "Thank you." Hunter could wait for a little bit longer. Dismissing Thobias after correctly assuming that his message had been fully delivered, she turned her attention back to the dragon in the air. Things were interesting now. Taking another moment, the air around her shimmered and she changed to a bird then took flight over to the Chimera and stood before Hunter. "Choose your words with care, Captain."

Giving more or less vague directions was another not so good sign and he hesitated, actions obviously dictating that he was still in doubt. "Not odd." Suspicious, but he wasn't about to betray all thoughts to this stranger. "To live solely for survival is something uncivilized beasts resort to. You don't seem like one who would prefer that kind of lifestyle." Another reason to be suspicious. He hadn't even mentioned Ilindal and yet, the black did so. Which meant he knew of it and purposefully avoided it, since Kaz had never seen him and his mother had never mentioned this "brother" of hers either... The physical similarities were striking but he could sense that there was a story behind it all. Would he betray his loyalties to curiosity? Not yet. "Relation purely by blood, I assume. She never spoke of you and neither does my father."
Leaving it at that, at least for now, he turned his attention back to Sky, nudging her gently with his snout. "Climb up, onto me." Waiting until she did so and then he gave the black dragon a pointed look before spreading wings and heading back to the Claw, dropping Sky onto the deck and transforming back to his neutral form. He could feel a certain ebbing soreness in his wings now... had he lost track of time? But making his way up to Gem, he gave her a nod and gestured to the black. "He isn't wild and has some information he wanted to relay. There is an oasis nearby to the west and he suggests we head there until the rain stops and the sand dries up again, offering to lead us there too. I thought I should consult you, and Hunter." There was a purely objective message, she could form her own conclusions and decisions based on it.

"Living soley for survival? Is that what you would call my life style? You think like any young dragon...it's not about survival...it about living in one form as opposed to the other. Though I do enjoy my much more...compact...form when it is needed indeed. "Me and your father...well, there's story to that and as to why your mother didn't mention me. I'd be glad to tell you, if you'd like." But merely watching as the suspicious young one took his little charge with him and headed back...he'd merely just keep walking. Fish had to be reeled in after all.
Oh good they were coming back...though she couldn't help the almost dirty look she gave the little dragon who was beside her for a moment before the blue practically pranced off after Kaznec. Her eyes went back out to the black, watching a moment more as she hopped up onto the railing and crouched there, hands and tail holding securly so she didn't fall, flexing her wings slightly.
"Well...at least don't have to worry about him eating us...then again Des isn't exactly wild and she eats people." Shaking her head at that one before a sigh. Little frown though, "How come good sounding things always come on black wings that can be both good and bad? We're not making much headway and the longer we go in this the sooner we're going to get caught up to." Tilting her head, some water running off the brim of her hat. "What do you think Fire? You're a dragon after all..."
And she waited patiently for him to come back down to deck level so she could nuzzle on him again. if anything she behaved well for two people, Shyrae and Kaznec...others seemed to be playtoys of a sort and the white one gave her funny looks.

"Your insubordination threatening my authority is why they don't treat you with any respect. they see no reason to. and I'll do what I want on my damned ship. you do as you are instructed, by the sands...you elves I swear."
before turning his attention to the star child.
"these two sense the ability to manipulate earth on this black son of a b***h. dragons aren't normally the type to manipulate earth. especially when they already use shadow and flame, which they also sense innately."
before looking out at the moving beast.
"I don't trust him any farther than I'd be able to throw him. we've been out here too long without seeing anything, then he just shows up and is not wild, but civil. it stinks of planning and treachery. this manipulate earth thing makes me think he's got something we want."

"Living is about survival." And when one existed out in the sandseas like these with little to no interaction with others, it was right to assume that he had no other goals. Unless he was lying to him about something... The dynamics of his family paled in comparison to the mission now though and he merely pushed that to the back of his mind, watching the captain reason things out for herself. Some might think it odd that he started responding to the name 'Fire' but as long as he knew it denoted him, that was fine. Besides, it was descriptive too. Part of his identity that he'd come to realize, just like Sky had come to learn that both his natural and neutral form were just him, Kaznec. He lifted a hand up to rest on her neck as she nuzzled at him, if only for acknowledgment purposes, and focused on Gem once again. Personal issues should be part of his opinions now. "His reasoning makes sense. Instead of blindly plowing forwards, we could take the time to rest and recuperate in a safe location until the seas are more manageable. But that is your decision, judge your ship and your crew. I feel that he's withholding information from me but this is your choice."

"We're not threatening your authroity...ever think there are more useful things for us to do? You have two elves that are intimately versed in various magics and what not. Stuffing them down in hulls and what not isn't putting them to their full potential." Shaking her head. "If he has something we want...then we'll take it. Simple as that."
"All dragons hold knowledge from others. I'm sure you haven't told me everything about you and Ice hasn't to me or you everything, little Blue here has things she knows but doesn't tell, and I'm sure Des has her own secrets. No one is ever completely honest with anyone, dear Commander." Something that Guardians seemed to forget...not that she ported in Ilindal much. "Well...if Fang thinks that we've kept moving because we don't know where this oasis is...then he may pass us up and we won't be the hunted anymore for a while...." Nabbing a cabin boy, "Send a message to Hunter. I advise a port."
Mmm pets. She bumped at him lightly, looking for more affections before a purr and the like, not caring for the situation at hand. Just wanted the affections from him.

Shyrae watched Sky and wondered for a moment if perhaps she was getting a little too comfortable with Kaznec. Turning her attention back to Hunter, she shook her head. "I didn't realize I was to stay down below if I had finished all of my tasks. If I have nothing else to do why am I not free to roam and take part in the joys of the sandsea?"
Eilynne studied him for a moment and then held up her hands. "You wouldn't be able to throw the dragonlord at all, Captain. Speak no folly to me. You are well aware of the situation at hand, what then do you request of me?"

glancing at Shyrae...before turning his attention to the star pest.
"your power. these ships, and these young dragons we got are not going to be able to handle that dragon. and I want what he has if it's something of use. not to mention, he'd make great ship parts."
a slight smirk, looking at the dragon.
"He's hiding something, and he's not out here for a pleasure cruise, my gut tells me so. A thief and a villian knows another. and I'd bet my ship he's got something up his sleeve for us that is not going to be pleasent for us."

"But morals dictate that one be completely honest with someone if the information one knows directly pertains to the situation at hand. If not, then there's reason to be suspicious." Not that he found her words offensive. Thus merely gazing back at her with that calm neutral expression of his before he nodded, respecting her decision. "Hopefully you're right. I still advise we proceed with caution though. Advice from a stranger always demands a second read." His eyes moved back out to the black form still trudging forwards though maintaining a decent distance from them. He did want to learn more about his connection to his parents but at the same time, something told him he wouldn't like the story... This was 'instinct', wasn't it? Lost in thought at the moment, he continued to give Sky his physical attention at least, patting her lightly along her neck and over her cheek as well.

Shy's eyes narrowed at that and she chewed on her lower lip a moment. She wasn't well versed in the ways of the dragon but she knew how animals typically showed affection and while dragons weren't animals they were in that sense. Humans and elves were really no different since the laws of attraction and affection were the same across the board. And Sky and Kaznec were becoming way too comfortable with each other which worried her. She wanted to talk to Jae but didn't want to annoy Hunter anymore than he already was.
Eilynne merely blew out a breath and continued to stare at Hunter. Obviously he was wasting her time. "Have, Captain. Got is what a child just learning to speak would say. You are no child and neither am I. Now, I'll ask you once more. What is it you request of me? If nothing, then kindly do not summon me to waste my time with the obvious."

"Morals aren't always in place out here, good Dragon. They are out weighed sometimes and you just have to rely on your quick wit to get you out of a sticky situation if one occurs." Little sandsea advice there as she changed her course slightly. "Strangers can be Godsends in disguise or looters who steal even your socks in the night...never know until you camp with them now do you?" Grinning. "No worries, I don't trust it completely..." Turning her eyes off to the side though. "Ice! Get down from there....I wouldn't want to lose you overboard in this slush should you fall...you'll blend right in and that would be the end of you."
She remained perched on the railing, trying not to watch the little dragon. Honestly she couldn't believe herself...that tiny dragon scared her like nothing else and at the same time she was jealous of her as well. It wasn't fair really, that the one little dragon should have so much power over her. Though her jealousy did surprise her...she wasn't sure why she felt that way. Or rather why she felt so intensly that way. It was just...strange. But a look back at her little nickname was called...and he tendency to be clumsy called out. Fun. Thusly she slipped down off the railing simply to appease the worries of others...and it seemed they were going to take this oasis thing.
Yay affections, thusly just continuing in her purring, her tail flicking lightly on the deck in that oh so pleased fashion. Any upset he may have caused her earlier seemed forgotten at this point in time. In fact she wasn't fored or anything anymore. This was working nicely.
Apparently Hunter wasn't going to argue with them...which either meant that they won or he just didn't care for the argument. Her attention thus turned to her friend once more. "Don't let him get to you. But what's wrong with you? You feel...apprehensive?" Body posture and what not she recognized easily in her friend that was still holding onto her.

Sandsea advice taken and duly mulled upon. He was in their world after all, and even Guardian Commanders had to adapt in order to survive. Though he didn't quite reason it out to himself that way. "If quick wit is basically the same thing as instinct, then what are the odds of it succeeding most of the time?" A genuine question before he cocked his head. "I've never camped with a stranger." And maybe that was the loophole in his logic. She did seem awfully confident anyways but he was glad that she at least agreed with him on some levels. His attention turned to Jae briefly and he wanted to talk to her, ask her about her more personal opinions on the black dragon but she didn't look too happy or well at the moment... The little blue dragon seemed to be doing alright though and he watched her for a moment, seemingly trying to argue against himself for something. "Sky, have you seen the black dragon before?" Said slowly in case she still had common tongue comprehension problems.

Hunter glared down at her.
"I thought I was pretty clear. or do your precious rules go against using your obviously extended, or perhaps greatly exaggerated, power. put the clues together. he shows up out of nowhere. he acts civil, and passes along information, looking to lead us somewhere. in the meantime, we've never seen any sign of dragon roosting anywhere near us. not even so much as a broken piece of claw. or a tremor of life."
looking down at her, hands clasping behind his back.
"so out of nowhere we have a civil, let me emphasis that, civil black dragon in the middle of a white saltbed, looking to cozy up to us. he's big, and he's old, and he has absolutely no ability to hide. so he obviously either somehow eluded the riders, or doesn't live anywhere near this place. this whole setup stinks of a trap. the only reason he hasn't outright tried to kill us is probably because we know something, or have something, that he's interested in. and I'll wager he has something we're interested in. or should I say, you're interested in."

Shy glanced over at her friend and hesitated for a moment, then patted he arm. "Slightly, yes. I'm just not sure about this whole thing at all. The dragon showing up is strange but not completely unwarranted as we could have easily wandered into his territory and the Riders might have a good reason for leaving him be. Has something to do with a contract the Laerethe signed with them or something. Lady Eilynne was talking about it at the temple."
She shifted her weight and tested the slickness of the deck, the salt in the air stinging her nose and cheeks. "I'm worried about Sky. She's become very friendly with Kaznec in a very short period of time and the other dragon, Jaebelltiah seems to be non-territorial but Desdemona never went after Kaznec. She focused more on the humans, which I don't understand but that's dragons for you. I'm worried we might have a battle between a full grown dragon and another with a childlike mind. Instincts and whatnot."
"I am well aware of the possible directions this situation could take and what his presence precludes. If you are asking if my power can be used against him, that is not my question to answer." Eilynne was getting irritated. He was insinuating all sorts of things but all of that was obvious to her. Why he was treating her like she was stupid when he was in fact the one acting stupid was beyond her. Her arms crossed and she tapped her fingers on them in irritation. "I'm going to ask you one final time Captain and then I'm going to end this conversation and find a better use for my time. You have now repeated yourself three times but have yet to tell me the reason that I am here. What do you want from me?"
