Fractured Moonlight Captain

Ears twitched at that noise that everyone seemed to make when they came up to her and weren't brave enough to reach out and tap her on the shoulder. Thusly she turned her body somewhat to the direction of the sound and the voice that followed. "I just got up here...I may be elven but you're at folly if you think I can process things that fast...do I look like I can just look out there and see everything that is going on. I just now know it's a dragon, though I can tell you that it is an old dragon." She hated it when humans were ignorant. But she walked across the deck and over to the railing. Ugh, everything was wet.
"Oh good, you're both up now. I take it you're feeling better Ice, or I think he wouldn't of let you up here at all. Care to give your opinions on this beastie?" Who was huge and not moving from his spot that he had picked. Hm...could they even get around him. Damn slush...thusly throwing her strength into the helm, trying to force as sharp a turn as she could get.
"A black. Haven't seen one of those in a while. Well...not a solid black." After all, Kaz had some black to him, namely his wing membranes and horn/blades coloring, seeing as his mother had been a solid black dragon. Not that she was one to be talking...how many solid white's had she seen? She wasn't sure she'd ever seen one exactly as pure white as her...they usually tinged a slight other color. But standing there next to Kaz, she watched as well. "It's just standing there...I don't think we're gonna get around it without it scooting along...too big." She knew a few of the elder Guardians were that big, as well as Lycear was that big. Peak of their growth height. "Though I suppose the stoic is good...maybe it's too cold from the rain or it's not actually wild..."
Nope, he wasn't going to go anywhere. Partly he was curious to see what they would try to do, and then on the flip side, he knew that some of them would indeed notice the posture and what not of a civil dragon; that would be the not attacking and ripping apart part, as well as the fact that he at least folded his wings in and curled his bladed tail some, eyes still watching with that knowling knowledgeble gaze. Hm, nope, those weren't moving fast enough to clear him if he stayed put. Salt was too thick at the moment. A noise of breath though, steam rising from his nostrils as his recently hot fire hot breath met with the cooler air.
She was bored....mostly because Caden had seemed to grow tired of telling her words, but her vocabulary as well as her understanding had jumped a considerable amount as a new concept was cemented into her head. But her attention too turned to the large black shape out in front. Another! She had come to note that the big dragons...were ones that could teach her things. None of the others were around or paying attention to her right now...and with the curiousness and eagerness of any one with a child like mind, it was a simple jump from the deck, flare of wings and a glide out over the slushy salt.

Oh for the love of the sands. the damn beast had to move, didn't it. and then there went the pet project.
"Damn it! someone get that black skin elf up here to coral her damned pet before that goliath out there decides we're an meal and she's an appetizer!"
grabbing the helmsman and throwing him on the wheel.
"Adjust as you can, and make sure we aren't risking a collision with the Claw."
before going in his cabin, and coming back out with a flintlock rifle, and taking a position on the bow of his ship, mister richards moving beside him.
"Are you sure that's a good idea?"
"Just going to get a shot over his snout. I'm hoping he'll at least get the point we want him to move and just take a step or two back."
Desdemona was looking out, and then down. that man was a fool as much as he was brave or brilliant in different areas. a glance over at the other dragon types, that were seemingly content to watch. after all, black boy was a very large dragon. probably didn't want to tangle with him.
"captain, I don't think we can get around him without shoving our mast into his nose. are you really sure firing a bullet at him is a good plan?"
though sky blue was on her way out to play with him. dear lord. now she understood why captains hated people on ships that weren't crew or at least sand savvy.

Silently, he agreed with Jae. Fully black dragons weren't necessarily "rare" but they did seem to be rather uncommon, especially back home. Especially after... "It's probably analyzing us as we do the same to it." It, being most likely a male, judging by its size and other draconically distinguishing features such as spikes. "Best approach with caution for now. Try not to do anything to make it feel threatened." Which didn't work out so well as Sky seemed to decide that a familiar shape dictated friendliness... He glanced around, Shyrae wasn't around. Wild or not, they still knew nothing about the black dragon and this just wasn't safe.
"Tell Captain Hunt not to do anything rash, like last time." Taking to the air, despite wind and rain, he transformed to natural form and left behind a fading red mist as he moved out to cut in front of Sky. They were still rather far from the black, a good thing but he might have still taken advancement as a threat. "Sky, stop. Now is not the time to play." Tone firm and tail set, he hovered in the air in front of her, determined not to let her move forward anymore.

"I think ramming ships into it, would be considered a threat...I think it's playing chicken with us." But a blink as there went the little sky blue...oh lord, this probably just got very bad. And there went Kaz... "Wait! Don't you thi-....male dragons..." Shaking her head and tucking her hair out of her face. "I think another male dragon in natural would just seem a threat as well." Huffing lightly she walked over to the deck railing, leaning against it on her hands...she should probably be ready too just in case. They couldn't take a dragon like that, maybe not even with Des, but it would be worth the effort to break to make quick distraction for an escape.
Air breaks...or more like collision with Kaz...which knocked her for a literal loop, but didn't budge him at all and she shook her head, trying to regain herself a moment. Blinking at him, "No?" Oh but why not? No one else was playing with her...she'd tired Caden out or something. Thusly landing on the sand and still watching as if he was supposed to give more information to that. However her head neck stretched to try adn look around him, impossible as that really was, as that new voice cut through the elements clear enough in draconic hearing for them. See, there was no problem...she thought. "Still no?"
Well it seemed they were going to try and do their best to avoid him...or at least one. The other seemed to be getting trigger happy. Was that a bullet that just zinged between his horns? Not nice. And a little Rider dragon, well when did they get one of those or more importantly why? Well, the Riders would deal with that when they came into play. But look at this...yes that was definitely Laricalu's son. One may think dragons were hard to tell apart...but when you were blood relatives, it wasn't. Amusing how he stopped hte little dragon. He gave a chuckle. "Son of Laricalu...you've grown quite big since last I've seen you." Not that Kaznec would ever remember him. "No worries about the little dragon. I would hardly say I'm wild..." There confirmation to put them into false security. Turning himself toward the whole group and easily padding through the slosh, tucking his wings in tight to his body to give ships room."Though I would say you and your...traveling party...are quite in an unsafe place. Rider came that direction."
Why was she up here again? She knew two things....it was alive and it was huge. Well make that more than two...it was also very old yet very strong and healty, as well as magic warded to the teeth. Joy...just what they needed. "I wouldn't tangle with that Captain...honestly, you don't want to at all."
"Well...that's one good thing I think...at least we won't be smashing into him now...if we're careful. Take in my sails some more boys, need a little more time to redirect more, then I want full on my mark..." Couldn't stop completely or they'd be stuck in this slosh. A smile, see she knew getting the dragons invovled was a good thing...or so far was a good thing.

Oh good lord.
"Hunter are you trying to piss off the big black dragon?!"
that of course was yelled down from the crow's nest, along with a boot being thrown, which barely missed the intended target because he moved a little.
Hunter looked at the boot, and then back up, before turning his attention to Sav.
"what do you sense that would make you say that, other than it's a dragon?"
hey, a bullet can kill a dragon easy enough. if you had a steady hand, perfect aim, and were willing to nearly get eaten in the process...and they didn't use thier breath weapon.

A blink at the elf as she again just went on bluntly like she always did then left him there, he didn't even know why he tired at all with her. Sighing lightly he shook his head and looked back out toward the black dragon. Just why did it decide to appear now? A blink though as he noticed a bit of blue which bothered him because no one, including Sky, knew just what this dragon could do, or really why he/she was here. A look to the captain and he made his way over. "I'd listen to her Hunter, this is one beast that a bullet would do squat to it. I think the last thing you want to do is piss it off." A pause as he looked toward the beast as the bullet went off then back at the man. "Do you want to jeopardize everything cause you are worried about that dragon? You'll do more harm if you pull the trigger again so just wait."

Shyrae was fighting with the cook. She knew there was something going on up on the deck and she wanted to get up there badly but he was whining about his stew or something and blocking her way. Get out of my way or your a** is going to end up back in the middle of the sand." He was too big for her to barrel through and she was quickly losing patience. She could see that her threat had finally made some kind of impact as he slowly moved his rather hefty bulk out of her way. She scurried up on deck and slammed to a stop. That was a rather big dragon. Glancing around, she shook her head. "Okay..." Thus latch to Savvy. "There's another dragon...."
Mister Robins hadn't moved from his spot by his Captain's side. He'd taken care of the tasks she assigned and was merely watching the bulky thing as it seemed to be in conversation with Kaz. "Bring in the sails just a bit." Glancing at her and shaking his head. "So...is this bad?"

Even if he had heard Jae's warning, it wouldn't have made a difference. They had to account for all risks, especially ones that couldn't exactly take care of themselves. Watching the little blue dragon settle onto the wet sands, he followed but still kept between her and the black. "No. It's dangerous." And if it was possible, his blood ran even colder at the sound of that name. He hadn't heard it in centuries... Why now? From a stranger? Keeping his stand, he cocked his head to look around at the black. Big.. and yet, he was still considerably smaller than the black dragon now making his way towards them. "No, Sky. Stay with me." Golden eyes back to steadily watching the black. "Who are you?"

Seemed everyone was in agreement on the Chimera...don't shoot at the dragon. Her attention turned briefly to Shyrae as she was latched to. "That's what I'm being told...I just know what it feels like not what it looks like. But I trust you...so now that I am believing that it is a dragon..." Her eyes turned to hunter even if she wasn't looking at him. "He's old, and powerful, and warded. A bullet would do little against that hide, and he could kill you before you had a chance. I sense shadow and flame as well..." Inclination of her head to Shyrae. "You feel it as well, yes?" Funny...this was familiar.
She nodded. "Yes I would say this is bad. We either crash upon him or he turns on us...seems docile enough. And if looks like he's at least giving us some room. Hopefully...I hate these blasted salts...why did you let me come out here?" Because that was how it went...someone had to be blamed for not stopping her. At least he had learned to take it in good nature. A look down to her deck. "Ice! Are we seeing good things or bad things?"
"Um...I think good things. If he was going to attack Kaz, he would of already rather than get that close and be passive. He's bigger than Kaz, so it's just a natural pecking order of things." In fact he was about the size of Lycear...which meant that was a very long lived dragon thus far. Not too many of those around these days.
Dangerous? That wasn't a new word to her, but she didn't understand why another dragon would be dangerous. They tussled around all the time with each other and they'd never hurt each other...size issues seemed to be a lost concept to her. But she behaved, staying with Kaz rather than going anywhere closer. "Stay close." After all...she could stand under Kaz with no issue of being a hinderance and that's what she did.
He stopped that respectable distance away that was common to their kind whom didn't know each other. It was being in attack range without being aggressive, and his attack range was much bigger then Kaznec's. So by that standard...he had silently put forth that he wasn't an intended threat. Even if he wanted to be to this boy of a dragon still, him and his father. "Saewelquin." Turning equally gold eyes to each ship. "You might want to tell them to put on some speed before they get bogged. I don't like much pulling ships out of slush. There's an oasis nearby, would be better to send them there till things dry." Yes being evasive to a point, but for plan reasons.

The name didn't ring any mental bells and that unsettled him even more. The black had mentioned his mother... mentioned seeing him or even knowing him as a dragonling... There was also far too many physical similarities between them for comfort. But he wasn't about to speculate, much less let his guard down in exchange for a name that told him nothing. Thankfully Sky was obedient and he kept a careful eye on her, even as his own golden eyes matched the other pair. "The captains know their ships and how to manage them in such weather conditions, they won't ask for your help." Rather, as Hunt had already demonstrated, they would resort to other methods. "In which direction is this oasis?" Might be a good idea to scout ahead, in case this was misleading information for whatever reason. Knowing him or his mother did not make Saewelquin family or even friend. "Obviously you aren't wild, thus begs the question, what are you doing out here?" Sitting, watching, waiting...? Yes, very unsettled by all this.

Time to build up the trust. "To the west...I can lead you there." Knowing though he would have to be careful and give the wary dragon what he wanted in knowledge. Wary as his father and thus the flaw. How Lari ever fell for that one was beyond him. But family meant nothing at this point...Lycear had shown him that. "You find it odd that I'm not in Ilindal? I suppose I'm a loner of sorts. Or rather like the open, perfor this form mostly. I know these parts well, good hunting grounds." Tilting his head lightly. "I suppose you're distubred that I know your name and your mother as well, yes? Come, we'll lead your friends on and I'll explain things to you. We'll start simple...your mother was my sister." Turning now...and knowing he would follow and in turn his travel companions. Had to get them where he wanted them and lull them till it was time.

Hunter handed over his rifle, and watched the dragon and red interact. that dragon just screamed don't trust me to him. this kind of conicidence was not the kind that happened out of the blue. not out here.
"Mister Richards."
"Aye, captain."
"Keep course, unless we hear otherwise. everyone is to be armed, and ready. this doesn't feel right. We have been out here and not seen a thing for days, and all of the sudden an old black dragon just shows up and starts acting nice and civil. it screams treachery to me."
"You know, not all dragons that don't spend most time in 'personable' form are wild. he could just like it out here without the constrictions."
"Shut it Des. back to work."
Oh her jaw set at that one, and looked fully ready to throw her other boot at him, but held herself in check. after all she'd been his caged bird a long time, and she knew he was just being Hunter.
"b*****d."
She'd been good. maybe she could get him to relax in her own way.
He looked at the black dragon, before glancing at the elves.
"Shyrae, back to work...help the galley. however, you notice anything either of you, let me know right away. Savryn, if you can, see if you can manage somethign to let our guns get past these defenses you sense. I want to be able to bring him down if we have to."

"Big black dragon and Sky wants to play with him but it looks like Kaznec has it all under control. They keep talking to each other..." Shaking her head and keeping her eyes trained on the light blue sitting on the sands. She nodded briefly to Savryn for Hunter's benefit. "I do. Shadow and flame and manipulation of earth as well but I think that could be coming from something on him rather than him directly." She ignored Hunter completely since there was no way in hell she was leaving while Sky sat out there and anything could happen. It was foolish of him to ask anyway.
"Because you wanted to find pretty things and you like making you happy." He frowned at the interaction and shook his head giving another order to his men. "Enemies are often your best friends up until something goes wrong. We need to keep an eye on them though I'm not quite sure how to help them if this black ends up doing something. "Keep your guards up men and get that ship where I told you to!"
Eilynne was watching it all from her own place on the ship, testing various things in the air and making note of other things as well. She wasn't allowed to interfere and would have to let things happen as they were supposed to. When the Goddess called, she would answer but not before.

Hunter gritted his teeth lightly when his orders were ignored.
"get your black a** down below and get back to your duties on this ship or so help me I will have you tied to the mast and whipped. Kanzec has your blue pet well under control, the services you were summoned up here for are no longer needed. so get back to work."
a glance at the Claw...before letting out a whistle to get Gem's attention, an d pointing to the star pest. obviously he wanted it over on his ship for one reason or another.

A small nod to Shyrae when she appeared though he raised an eyebrow when he heard that they felt something? "What do you feel?" He couldn't feel it, what was going on? Though he listened and blinked a little bit. "That's it? Hmmm, this dragon is pretty big, I say he has been around for at least gods know how long, maybe as long as Kaz's father? I have not see one like that ever." A light shrug as he looked out again before turning to Hunter and glaring at him. "You will do no such thing, I'll make sure of it Hunter." Hey no one needed to be whipped and besides Sky was Shyrae's responsibility, she belonged up here looking after the blue dragon. "Is there any way we can hear what is being said?" He didn't have ears like an elf nor a dragon, just wanted to make sure they could find out what this dragon was here for.
