The entire exchange between Sarah and the professor went completely over Damon's head. The mentions of a new recruit, some person named Cerebro, mutant activity... it was something that he couldn't pull altogether at the moment. Maybe he would ask the Professor if he could explain it.

As Sarah left the room, Damon shifted uncomfortably. The room was empty, save for the professor and himself, and he had only met the professor once. That brief moment was when he had "recruited" him, for lack of a better word. He was still rather confused as to why he had been found at all.

Blade laughed nervously.
"Well . . . you see . . . I've got an overactive imagination sometimes . . ." The runaway woman stopped her nervous laughter and looked at the girl that stopped her and explained things. "Mutant? So . . . it's not just me?" It was strange for Blade. She had always thought that she was alone and would be alone because of her . . . ability. And now she found someone who could do strange things too. Hope swelled up in her chest.

Sara grinned at her in understanding. "I know what ya'll mean." She said laughing. "I've had a time or two where my imagination got the better of me." She shook her head. "Nope, Tis me to and I recken about ninety-nine point nine percent of the rest of the buildin." She said as. "Me? I'm really strong." She said seeing as the fact that there were mutants here seemed to make her feel better. "My names Sara, nice to meet ya'll."

Blade smiled at her and held out her hand.
"My name's Blade. It really is!" She exclaimed cheerfully. "My dad always said that it was important to have a good, strong name. So, he said that I was going to be Blade." She shoved away the feelings of worry when she mentioned her father. It had been two years since she ranaway, afraid of hurting her family. But that was for another time. Now, she had to concentrate on the present.

"It's a pleasure to see you again, Mrs. Fuhren," said the Professor, nodding at Sara's retreating figure and turning his attention back to Damon. Noting that the boy stood silently, eyes focused on the floor, practically hugging the wall near the door frame, Xavier sighed softly, knowing that getting this boy to talk and feel comfortable around all of them would be a quite a task.

Not impossible, of course, just difficult.

The sigh, no matter how small, was not lost on Damon. He nodded quickly, wishing to oblige the professor, in the case that he had somehow offended him with his silence. With a few steps, he shuffled closer to the professor's desk, somewhat intimidated by the scholarly image that the man exhuded. The room emanated the presence of knowledge, something that Damon's comprehension only traced the surface of. How was someone like Damon to know that he stood in the same room as the world's most proficient telepath?

Wooden furniture, combined with natural hues, added to the room's preserved nature. It was the same as finding oneself in an older university, with large novels and tomes of various material clogging the shelves, and decor that would fit a museum. Comfortable, but meant to be respected.

"I suppose that you are anxious as to why I sought you out and brought you to live and train here, with the X-Men." started the Professor, motioning for Damon to take a seat in the high backed chair opposite him if he so pleased. Completely ignoring the fact that he was telepath, Damon's dispostion spoke a lot, even though the boy himself said very little. He was shy, but also more then that, he was curious.

"You, like most other here, at the X-Mansion, have reached a crucial point in your lives. What with obvious mutant abilities manifesting randomly and perhaps unwanted...I believe that you'd benefit from living and training to overcome your fears and boundaries alongside those with similar backgrounds."

At the professor's motioning, Damon made his way to the large chair, accepting the courtesy somewhat reluctantly. He sunk into the soft material, the chair being quite comfortable, but still Damon was tense. He listened in as the professor began to speak again, but spoke out almost immediately as he finished.

"But...!"

He stopped abruptly, his interuption having been louder than he had intended. He attempted to gain some composure before continuing, his tone darkening.

"My... abilities... they destroyed... no... obliterated a large portion of my school. A lot of people were hurt because of... me."

This was the first chance Damon had received to vent, all the tension and anxiety welling up within him. It threatened to overflow and he didn't know what was keeping him from just breaking down right there. He held fast though, allowing the words to come one at a time and stem the building emotions.

"Who could benefit from anything like that?"

High on the Brotherhood living room ceiling couched the infamous Toad. His green hand was scratching his hairless chain as he stared complexly at a large, hardened pile of slime. He was, for whatever reason, trying to attach his stolen Dance Dance Revolution game to the ceiling. He had however only manged to create a pile of slime that resembled something out of a cave with a power cord hanging from it. The problem was he had used his harder, tougher slime to hold everything with and now he wasn't even sure if he could start over. Sighing he scratched his head and found an odd twig there, which he removed and was about to eat when an idea hit him.

Quickly he scampered over to the pile and smirked before he poked the hardened mass with his little twig. A snap was heard and frowning Toad saw that his twig had broken. Disappointed he popped the thing into his mouth and chewed. And that's when he heard Val and Lance near the door.

Toad stood on the ceiling and walked, upside down, over to the scene to watch. Pretending for a moment he was Spiderman Toad slid down a stream of slime, still upside down, until his was eye level with Lance and Val. "Where ya going?" he asked, bearing his yellow teeth as gravity forced him to smile.

"Great." Conner replied sarcastically. "And here was me thinking I would be moving into a place of quiet reflection and training. It's Grung Thep all over again." He added, remembering his short stay in the Thailand capital. He shifted in his seat and shuffled his knees to turn the car around a gentle bend. A still distinct cloud billowed out and up some way ahead of him, telling him he was headed in roughly the right direction. The view reminded him of a certain mutant he had met in an alleyway some time before and of his plan that he was formulating. I'm going to need money He thought lots of it, which means some major trips to the bars of this town. But that won't mean diddly if I don't know where the guy is living.
"I don't suppose you know where the Brotherhood live, do you?" He asked Victoria. He straightened the car up and dropped his knees from beneath the steering wheel, resting his right hand on it to keep it steady.

Victoria smiled and laughed aloud when Conner mentioned that before now he assumed Bayville would be a quiet and well-behaved town. She had assumed that when she moved here of course, and from the sounds of it, nearly every other new recruit did, only to be completely floored by how things really were when living with the X-Men. Letting all that drama leave her mind for the time being, Victoria rested her right elbow on the edge of the door, and let it hover easily in the wind as they neared Bayville's shopping district.

"Yeah. Of course I know where they live," Victoria answered with a shrug. Pausing for a second, she dipped her hand down and let it flop against the side of the car as she snapped her head to the left to look at Conner.

"Why?" she asked, trying not to smile only to have it backfire big time. "What do you have planned?"

====

"Out," snapped Lance, as Toad decided to make himself known by hovering down from the ceiling, as usual.

Shifting his eye contact from the blond to the Frog-Boy, lance noticed almost immediately that Toad was currently suspended in mid-air, thanks to a string of slime. Nodding his head slowly in a sort of 'whatever you say' sort of fashion, the dark haired teen had to wonder how long that stuff would be able to support his weight...

Sara accepted her hand and shook it firmly. "Pleasure." She said smiling. "Blade? That's an interestin name." She agreed noticing the slight odd look that flickered across her features before being replaced by that cheerful look. "So why don't we head on inside?" She suggested.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Lizz yawned and decided that she had been baking outside in the sun long enough. "You know...I have no idea why I'm bothering to work on a tan." She said mildly looking at her green toned skin. "You can't really tell the difference...." She said sitting up.

Blade looked at her, slightly surprised.
"Really?" She couldn't remember the last time someone was this nice to her. Then again, it might be because of the fact she had kept to herself for the most part over the past two years. She had done so because she was different. Genetically gifted . . . or mutant. A smile reached Blade's mouth again. "That would be nice."

Conner kept his face impassive...for all of four seconds.

"Oh, nothing much." He replied dismissivly. The traffic up ahead started to lighten up so he put both hands back on to the steering wheel and assumed the 'attentive driver' position. "I was thinking of paying them a visit. Y'know, see the sights, the people." He didn't know if he should tell Victoria what he had planned, he didn't know if she would really have approved considering it's technical illegality.Screw it. "I'm thinking of paying a visit to the psycho who burnt my arm this morning, get myself some complicated and hopefully life changing payback." He told her. "I just have to get the materials together and scout out the place." He kicked the vehicle up a gear as the road completely cleared ahead.

Staring curiously back at Conner, Victoria raised an eyebrow and waited for him to tell her what he 'really' had planned for the Brotherhood. The bit about seeing the sights, and the people, was a flat out lie, and she knew it. She was also certain that he knew, she knew it was a lie, and that it would only be a matter of time before he told the truth. Her smiling fading only slightly, she continued to stare silently back until Conner finally snapped and gave an honest explanation.

"Ah," said Victoria, blinking again, and turning to look vaguely at the road ahead of them. "Revenge, I see. Tried that once..." pausing for only a millisecond, she carefully left off the bit about how everything went to hell when she tried to get her revenge on Toad some time ago. "...but sign me up for whatever you have planned. Sounds like fun, plus you're bound to need a second set of hands to pull this off."

Letting the tips of his fingers rest against each other, he listened silently as Damon spoke for the first time since he had met him. He spoke of when his powers first emerged, which caused a significant amount of damage to the school he attended at the time. They had seemingly entered the venting and admission stage of their little meeting, which was a big step forward for someone like Damon.

"Although what happened at your school was unfortunate," said the Professor reassuringly. "You should not let it consume you. Your powers are a gift Damon, and learning how to control and use those powers for good is gift we all can benefit from."
