Jun took a deep breath as he stood before the outer walls of the Veilstone dojo. It was an impressive establishment, he had to admit; the building was quite immense and combined both modernism and traditional Japanese architecture in its design. It looked like they had remodeled or touched up the place recently, too. The Osaka family -- mostly Maylene, probably, since the old man was quite a prolific gambler, as Jun remembered it (and as you might, from the games) -- had done well these last few years, Jun thought to himself. No help to him, he added, with something that might have been a light pang of guilt settling in his stomach. That was probably hunger, though, he hadn't eaten all day. Looking up at the dojo, he was certain he saw a very familiar face in the window, thinly veiled irritation in her face, a tell-tale (and equally irritated) Ludicolo Lucario by her side. Looked like a warm homecoming already.

He pushed open the doors of the dojo warily. If he wasn't wrong, a certain pink-haired shrimp would be flying at him right now... Right... now? No, there was nothing. In fact, the dojo looked a bit... calm. There were plenty of people and Pokemon around, but less than half were actually training; the other half appeared to be relaxing. Had the Dojo instituted a rest hour? It didn't look like meditation, judging from some of the Pokemon's loopily smiling faces. Jun's arrival remained unnoticed momentarily, his stealth earlier accomplishing that much, he supposed.

"If it isn't the young mas--" a black belt trainer boomed, but was interrupted by another fella who came running out of another room. "I mean, if it isn't a complete stranger --" The other black belt trainer nudged him sharply, interrupting again. "IF IT ISN'T A CHALLENGER TO THE VEILSTONE GYM," the first black belt boomed again, without missing a beat, acting as if that was what he said all along.

Jun blinked. "Uh, no challenge. Just wanted to pop in and say hello to the fam--"

"I'm afraid you won't be able to challenge Maylene without going through me, first!" the black belt trainer continued.

Jun sighed audibly. Yeah, Maylene was mad. He wasn't sure for what this time, since they had parted on relatively good terms the last time he was home, but who knew? She was always mad at him for something. Jun ran through the possibilities in his brain, but could think of nothing new he had done to piss off his sister. All his offenses had been taken account of the last time last time, right? Offense #1: Ditching the family and dojo. Strike, because she had more or less forgiven him last time since she could see his passion was clearly in a different field which clearly could not be accomplished in a dojo. Offense #2: Giving up karate, which she had looked up to him for. Strike, because she had more or less accepted his decision to go into the beauty industry, and she could kick his a** if she reeeeally wanted to, anyways. Offense #3: Causing their father to take up gambling, which meant Maylene suddenly was the Gym Leader. Strike, because that was allllll a looooong time ago, about three years ago in fact, when his father had become depressed because Jun refused to take responsibility of the Gym, and now he was perfectly content with Maylene being the leader since she was obviously strong, and she herself finally recognized her own strength, so it was all fine. She /had to/ know that she made for a better trainer and fighter than Jun, so she was in her rightful place. I mean, the old man still gambled a bunch since it became something of a habit back then, but not to any dangerous extent, just to have fun. Oh Sister, how I have sinned, but it's all in the past! What have I done now, Jun groaned, watching the black belt fella take a stance and pull out a Pokeball.

Geez louise, Jun thought to himself. "Well, Demi, mind doing me this favor?" The Jynx, beside him, nodded. From his days of regulating Gym Battles, Jun knew Ice-types were weak against Fighting types, but she was half Psychic, too, so it oughta work out. Posh was obviously out of the question, and Olsen was a little weak around the knees, so he wouldn't use him unless absolutely necessary.

Kasiya couldn't help but grin back at the redhead, as she'd always loved his cute smile. That, and the fact that he was worried about her even though he'd been the one to face-plant the floor. "No," she said, a little surprised by the coldness of her tone. "Everything is most definitely not okay." She smoothed out the folds of her robe and looked back at him, her expression quite serious. "But thanks for asking." She sighed and stood up, collecting the dirty wash clothes and taking them over to the sink for another rinsing, even though she knew it would take a good bleaching to get them really clean again. She left them hanging over the side of the sink before she turned back to Keegan again, though this time it was her turn to smirk. "You might wanna fix your towel," she said, giggling. "I can see your butt."

It seemed that Nancy and her Geodude were both more interested in the fire than Ace's movements and neither of them witnessed his daring, almost successful escape. They seemed way more interested in each other than the battle, and Jake had the feeling that it would cost them the win. "Bidoof, watch out!" he called as the Gible sent the sand at the Plump Mouse Pokemon. Since the information of her Simple ability was fresh in his mind, he really didn't want her to have her accuracy lowered so sharply. "Dodge it!" he called. Bidoof, still in ball-form decided the best course of action would be to roll out of the way of the oncoming sand, which she did. She didn't like the look of that ugly little shark thingy so she wanted to keep out of its way!

"Missiles of love, that's soooo romantic!" Nancy cried, pointing at the Monferno again. "We'll do just that. Geodude, use your Rock Throw of Love!" For the first time since it was sent out, the Geodude gave an exasperated sigh and rolled its eyes, but it obeyed. Its trainer was a total flake but it still cared about her. Once again the Rock Pokemon ripped several good-sized rocks out of the ground and hurled them at Ace, not even caring if they hit or not.

"R-right," Amy said quickly, taking a few more quick bites of her salad. She absolutely hated wasting food, so the girl managed to finish the rest of her leafy greens in record time. She downed the tea, which was lukewarm now, and smiled brightly at Mag and Juliet.

"It was lovely meeting you both!" Amy said, after putting her dishes in the sink as well. A sudden idea struck her, and the girl found herself talking without even thinking about the words. "I wish you the best of luck in your careers, and I'd like to ask you a favor... if you happen to run into a Professor William Maple, I need you to call me." She was scribbling her number furiously on a napkin, her hand shaking when she realized that this could help her find her father. "I-it would mean the world to me..."

The girl left the napkin on the table, shouldered her bag, and left the cafe. The sun was surprisingly bright, a sudden contrast to such dark secrets she had learned. And as Amy Maple continued through Cerulean City, intent upon training some more, she began to hope that things would be all right soon enough.

"There're people battling in there." This was Jett's greeting to his second visit to the Rustboro Gym. The boy stared at the man, suddenly feeling fatigued by a lot of things, and took a breath.

"I'd rather just watch the battles, thanks," he murmured tiredly, strolling into the gym anyways. Both Leon and Crush happened to be there, so he could certainly have time to prepare some new strategies.

He sat on the sidelines of the gym, half-lidded eyes flickering between battles as he tried to determine the outcome of either match.

For a moment or so, Keegan just stared at Kasiya, a bit shocked by her answer. After all, she'd always been Queen of the 'No-Really-I'm-Fine' spiel. He handed her the cloth he'd cleaned the floor with, staring at the now-white tile as though he expected the blood stain to suddenly reappear. Kasiya's next comment was more surprising than her last and he tried not to blush furiously (and failing miserably) as he hiked the towel back up around his waist, not sure if he was more surprised by the fact that she'd said such a thing, or the fact that she'd looked in the first place.

He was able to stand up now as well, as the pounding in his head had subsided. His bangs would also do wonders to cover the injury on his forehead, and he cautiously approached the mirror once more to study it. It was a narrow, semi-diagonal cut that looked worse than it actually felt, and with a chuckle he realized it was more or less in the same place where the scars on Mike's forehead were. "Heh, we're like twins now," he laughed to himself, pushing his hair back down so that it covered the wound completely. "So what now?" he asked, looking at Kasiya's reflection in the glass. "Heading to bed soon? We've got one helluva busy day ahead of us tomorrow."

Mahnaz was sitting in the main center of the PokeCenter, waiting for her two Pokemon. She overheard some people talking about their fight with the Gym here and lost miserably. She sighed as she thought about how she had to get through Cerluean to get to Pewter. Mount Moon...not her favorite way to go, but it was the only way she knew to get there.

"Growlithe," Maipe ran out with a smile on his puppy face. His tail was wagging as he saw his master. "Growl!"

"Poli," Nyoro said scared. She didn't like people, let alone the lady with the pink hair. She hid behind Mahnaz's leg and started shaking.

"Nyoro, return," she said, the red light showing on the Pokeball. "Well, I guess we go to Cerulean now and find a way to Pewter." She sighed as she stood up, her bag on her shoulder.

"Growlithe!" Maipe responded happily. He was beginning to like traveling, especially with Mahnaz. The two walked out, hopped on the bike, and headed north to Cerulean.

The two lovers seemed to be really more interested in each other then the battle. Robin was thinking the same thing that Jaeshan was, they probably would win if it continued this way. What had been fun before was quickly not being to fun, she liked it when the battle was exciting and both sides were interested. Huffing slightly Robin decided that it was time for her and Ace to end this, at least on her side. "Ace use your Mach Punch again! Ignore the rocks for now."

Ignore the rocks? Easy for her to say since she didn't have them thrown at her! Still the Geodude kinda looked like it wanted to be put out of its misery with the way it was halfhazardly throwing the rocks. Dashing forward doing his best to avoid getting hit in the face with the larger rocks but ignoring the smaller ones Ace raised his fist once more to strike the Geodude.

"Oh darling I love you so much!" Milton cried as the two of them gazed into each others eyes once more. On the battlefield the Gible wondered if it could die of embarrassment. Looking back at her trainer the dragon type pokemon decided that she was done listening to her trainers annoying babble. Not waiting for a command the Gible decided to take things into her own tiny hands. Opening her mouth again the Gible fired another Dragon Rage at the dumb looking Bidoof.

Sam definitely recognized Fury Attack, and she knew if she wasn't careful, Miles could take serious damage.

"Miles, jump out of the way! Try hiding behind the rocks!" Miles complied, though he was just a tad slow. One of the jabs dealt a glancing blow, but after that he slipped away and hid behind one of the rocks that had landed not too far away. The rest of the Beedrill's jabs fell uselessly on the rock. Miles waited for his next command, but Sam was thinking about what she could do. She knew she had to think outside the box with this battle, like Kya had done when she and Sam were battling on the ferry. Sam was struck by an idea, one that might be crazy enought to work. She knew the Beedrill was resitant against Fighting, but...Sam shrugged. She couldn't keep using Rock Tomb after all.

"Miles, Low Kick the rock! Aim it up and out!" Sam's plan was for the rock to be launched with alot of power because of it's weight, and it was a rock. Plus, Miles had much more experience using Low Kick. She just hoped that Bugsy would be too bewildered to counter, though she couldn't rely on that. The young Gym Leader had to be a great Trainer to be in position of such authority at a young age. Miles backed up a few feet, then slid in low on the rock, his leg outstretched and glowing.

"Maaaannnn....KEY!" he cried out as his leg connected with the boulder and sent it flying towards the Beedrill.

Kasiya giggled again at Keegan's embarrassment, adjusting her robe as a precaution. He'd always been the teeniest bit modest around her, which she thought was both endearing, and a little strange for him, seeing as he rarely cared what anyone thought of him, regardless of the circumstances. She peered over his shoulder as he checked his cut in the mirror, relieved to see that indeed had looked worse than it actually was. She hadn't paid enough attention to Mike to realize they now shared a similar marking, otherwise she might have said something. She took a step back and shook her head. "No, I don't think I could sleep even if I wanted to," she admitted. "I was thinking that I would go get dressed, then take a walk," she said, already heading towards the door, as she was suddenly quite aware of the fact that she was still in the boys' showers. Not that there was anyone in there but the two of them, but it still felt quite strange. "I bet you won't be sleeping much either, so you could come with me, if you want to," she added, offering a small smile.

Nancy was too busy enjoying the company of Milton to notice that her Geodude had practically given up. It felt kind of unfair to it that its trainer wasn't completely focused on the battle, so why should it bother trying? The Rock Pokemon simply closed its eyes and braced itself for the oncoming Mach Punch. Ace's fist smashed directly between its eyes once again, and while normally it probably would have been able to withstand it, the Monferno had lucked out with a critical hit. The Geodude groaned weakly and gave Ace a thumbs up before collapsing on the ground, unable to battle.

"That's one down," Jake mumbled, looking from the fainted Geodude to the lovestruck couple, then to Bidoof. She uncurled herself and smirked at the Gible, very much pleased with herself thus far. Of course, she hadn't even so much as touched it yet, but that was besides the point. Then, the jerk of a Pokemon decided to take the battle into her own hands and suddenly a burst of bluish flames were headed right for the poor Bidoof. "Quick Attack, get out of there!" Jake shouted, but Bidoof was quite tired of playing the dodging game. She gave a cry and rushed headlong into the Dragon Rage, the white light that trailed behind her quickly disappearing into the flames just after she did. It burned painfully but she wasn't going to quit so quickly. Loosing an enraged snarl, Bidoof launched herself at the Gible with all her might, hoping to knock the little land shark for a loop.

Keegan stepped away from the mirror as well, having decided he'd seen enough of them for the next while. He looked over at Kasiya, nodding in agreement. It seemed she was starting to know him pretty well. "Well, seeing as Cinnabar was a nice place during the day, I wonder what the nightlife's like," he replied with a nod. It sounded like a pretty good idea to him, though even if it didn't, and he had planned on going to bed, he never would have let Kasiya go wandering off on her own. Under normal circumstances he wouldn't have minded if she went alone, but seeing as how the stress of everything was starting to get to her, he wasn't going to give her the chance to make any stupid or rash decisions. "We'll get dressed and meet out in the lobby in five?" he suggested, following her as they exited the showers.
=====
Bugsy couldn't help but grin when he heard Sam's command. It was tactics and strategies like those that had helped him to earn his position as Gym Leader. "Hang in there, Beedrill! Smash that rock to smithereens with a Brick Break!" shouted the young Leader. Beedrill gave a nod, holding his stingers up in front of him in an x-shape as he watched the Mankey prepare its attack. As the rock was launched, Beedrill's stingers were already starting to glow, and he lifted them both high over his head, bringing them down together with a tremendous impact that shattered the oncoming boulder into dozens and dozens of small, sharp shards that were then rained back down towards Miles. The impact of smashing said boulder had knocked the bee Pokemon back a bit, his chest heaving from the effort. He was a hurting unit, what with being slammed around by all these rocks and all, but he wasn't giving in yet.
=====
Miharu raised an eyebrow when she heard Sam's next command, visualizing it in her mind's eye. In theory it could work quite well if it were to hit, but she didn't think that tricks like that could fool the young, yet wise Bugsy. That, of course, was the case as suddenly the boulder was broken onto many tiny pieces that were sent scattering everywhere, a few even landing on the floor at Miharu's feet. Wow, the green-haired girl thought, looking back towards Sam and Miles. She fully believed that her new friend could pull this off.

Rajasi thought for a moment, then decided upon his pokemon. With a simple toss he revealed his ever trusty, Cacnea. A good choice against rock type enemies like Solrock and Lunatone. Claire had also picked a good Pokemon, as Yokai’s ghost type moves would be super effective (although he would be susceptible to Psychic type moves due to his dual poison typing).

“For our first performance, we’ll go with the Flame of Sleep!” Jon announced with a wink to his partner, Mina. The girl winked right back and then pointed dramatically.

“You heard the man Lunatone, let’s do it!” The Meteorite Pokemon made no visible acknowledgement of the orders, but it soon began to make a low hum while it’s single red eye began to glow. Meanwhile the other Meteorite Pokemon, Solrock, began it’s part of the combo move and spun in place gathering a small vortex of flames. Both then lined up, Lunatone first, launching its hypnotic waves that were then encircled by the eerily glowing Fire Spin.

“That’s actually a pretty cool combination.” Claire muttered. “Sink into the ground Yokai, then hit ‘em with a Luck when they’re off guard.” The ghost grinned and faded from sight just as the flames/psychic energy reached it’s position. The attack, diffusing harmlessly into the air. Rajasi’s Cacnea, on the other hand, could not just disappear, and was therefore subjected to a rather harsh flame although the Hypnosis seemed to be ineffective at this stage.

“Grab back some of your health with Leech Seed on the Solrock!” Rajasi commanded. It was by far the bigger threat with Fire Spin (which had now taken a mind of it’s own and was encircling the Cactus Pokemon in a small ball much like a moth would a glowing candle). Cacnea nodded and then launched several deadly seeds from within it’s barbed arms as the flames moved out of the line of fire, scoring a direct hit.

Meanwhile, Yokai had moved himself into position behind the Solrock, and suddenly appeared, large tongue lolling right up the Meteorite Pokemon’s rough backside. It tasted like a vitamin supplement the ghost had managed to snag once in the Sprout Tower. Too bad it wasn’t a particularly pleasant flavor. The leech seed vines were however somewhat tasty although the ghost didn't really want to snack on his team mates recovery move.

"No, no. I don't need any pills. I'm fine, it's just a headache," Mitsu replied to the pink haired girl. Sasha, however, did have a valid point. If her headache didn't subside soon, she'd be next to useless tomorrow. And, well, that was something she couldn't have happen. "I will be fine by tomorrow," Mitsu said, placing extra stress and emphasis on the word "will." She was determined, hadn't she given her word to Mike already? She couldn't let him down, not again.

Soon after she'd made up her mind the huge, orange dragon swooped on down and landed right next to the colorful haired girls. A small grin spread itself across her face as she recognized the Pokemon. It was Nitro, sweet, old Nitro. Mitsu looked over to Sasha, feeling a bit rude to leave the girl to walk to the Big Riddle Inn alone, though she was glad to escape her current situation. Sasha was being nice and all, though it still felt a little uncomfortable and awkward. "Um, I have a feeling Mike wants to talk," Mitsu spoke slowly, "I'll see you later Sasha. Thank you."

The girl bowed her head before climbing into Nitro's back. It'd been a long time since she flew on the Charizard's back. Wrapping her arms around the Fire Pokemon, she laid her head down. He was comfortably warm. "Hi, Nitro," she smiled lightly, closing her eyes, feeling just a bit better as he took flight.

----------==========----------

"Ignore the Quick Attack and launch another Magical Leaf!" Gardenia commanded. The rain would end soon. The rainfall was starting to weakening though it wasn't very obvious to those who weren't tuned to nature like Gardenia and her Roserade was. They'd have a few turns left, at best, of the lovely rain. By now Gardenia was soaked, her hair clinging to the sides of her face, but she couldn't be happier with how the battle was going.

Roserade nodded, taking the attack head on. But she brushed it off, she'd taken much worse hits than a Quick Attack from a Starvaria. Once again, she ignored the multiple clones that Noa had created, launching her attack to concentrate on the real target. If continued to hit the real target rather than wasting energy hitting it's double then she'd be able to take down that pesky bird a lot faster!

"Nice job Roserade!" Gardenia cooed, hands clasped together as her signature Pokemon gathered many leaves, giving them a shimmery, rainbow coat before hurdling them toward their intended target. It was impossible to miss. Gardenia's eyes were large as she ogled at her Pokemon, thinking that it was so magnificent to see such a wonderful Grass Pokemon covered in delicate drops of dew from the rain.

----------==========----------

Tangela was swiftly headbutted by some creature that was trying his best to escape. The tunnel was fairly dark, the light filtering through the hole she'd jumped in was dim at best. The sandstorm above was blocking most of the lights in the building. Needless to say, the darkness was the perfect cover for a hit and run. Though Jello wasn't going to stand for it. Even if she couldn't really see her opponent, she could hear his big footsteps, stomping along, as he made his way through the tunnel. The sounds quickly drawing farther and farther away.

Not wanting to let her target escape Jello threw forth many vines, down the tunnel where the noise was escaping. With any luck she'd put a smack down on that Cranidos!

Mia smiled, not knowing what was going beneath the unseen surface. Either way, she assumed Jello could handle the situation easily enough. And if Jello was having too much trouble, well, that's where Rhyme would come in. "Go Jello, go!" Mia cheered, despite not knowing what was even happening. She was a cheerful girl, always looking to the positive.

Sam raised an eyebrow. Brick Break? That sure wasn't standard on a Beedrill. Sam tilted her head to the left as the boulder shards rained down. Some bit at Miles' skin, but the pain was manageable. Sam knew that the Low Kick move would most likely only work once, so she began to think of another strategy, another out-of-left-field move. She had to think fast though, lest the Beedrill get in another move. Sam judged the stamina Miles had left, and decided he was still good for a few more attacks. She racked her brain for Miles' moves that would still harm the Beedrill beyond Rock Tomb. Her face brightened as she thought of another move she had used during a battle with Kya. 'Glad I battled her...perfect practice for this...'

"Miles, Seismic Toss!" Miles leaped into the air, directly below the Beedrill, intending to push it higher and higher, and then bring it down to the ground with an impressive amount of force.

It was do or die. Akane was trying desperately to think of a move that Twinkers could use to counter the fast flying Zubat.

Counter it ...

That was it! "Twinkers! Hold on, just a little more, okay?"

"Not even attacking now?" sneered the angry youth. "Just shows me how outclassed you know you are ... Zubat! Aerial Ace! Finish that thing off!" the Bat Pokemon's trainer smiled smugly, arms folded across his chest. It was obvious that the trainer thought the next attack would finish things - he didn't even look closely as the Zubat launched it's attack.

"Twinkers! Copycat now!" shouted Akane just as the Zubat was starting to move. The Clefairy promptly obeyed the order and started its own attack. With an uncharacteristic burst of agility, Twinkers jumped and collided with the Zubat in mid-air. The attacks all but canceled each other out, leaving Twinkers to leap back in front of Akane and the Zubat to flutter back to an even keel. It was a close call, but Akane would bet that Twinkers came out on top of that exchange.

Seeing that the Geodude went down, and seemed a little happy to be put out of its misery. "Woooooow! Your sooooo cool and strong Ace!" Robin cheered jumping up and clapping. Ace meanwhile was a bit embarrassed at his trainers energetic congratulations for him. Looking back at his trainer he gave her a small smile before motioning over to where Bidoof was busy taking on the Gible. Should he help those two or just stay out of it? Robin was wondering that herself and motioned for Ace to head back towards her and the still sulking Black*Star. "Well hang back for now, just ask if you want Ace to step in though ok?" Robin grinned at Jaeshan and gave him a thumbs up. "Ok, guys lets cheer Bidoof on all right?" Robin grinned down at her team who just shook there head and refused to do something so embarrassing.

The Gible was indeed shocked when the Bidoof actually attacked her back. So shocked in fact that the small dragon type pokemon fell over a few times. Gritting her sharp teeth the Gible glared at the Bidoof as she picked herself up. Oh that was it! She was gunna destroy that brown puffball. Growling the tiny Gible charged forward in another Tackle attack.

~~~~~~~
Dashing into the tunnels the Cranidos did its best to escape the vines chasing after it and the pain of the hits. Finally it reached a weaker point in the tunnel wall and focusing its power it smashed through the wall and appeared back on the surface. Unfortunately the attacks on it were to much, well he probably could have lasted through a normal one but with so many Growths on it there was no way he could have lasted. Staggering slightly on the surface for a few moments the Cranidos gave a sorry look at his trainer before falling down. The moment the ancient pokemon fell the Sandstorm subsided and the battle was declared over.
Sighing Roark pushed the goggles back onto his helmet and shook his head feeling bad for putting his pokemon through that. "Well, looks like I lost." 'That wasn't to much of a surprise though.' Still Roark wasn't to upset with it as he headed over to Mia and handed over a small bag with the badge pinned on it. "Here is your winning money and the TM for this gym is inside as well." Roark paused and wondered if he should say something. He decided against it though and figured the girl would get a rude awakening if she tried that with another gym leader, especially a certain fighting one. "Good luck with your adventure, oh and tell your dad hi for me when you see him again. I had fun when I challenged him for his badge a few years ago."
The brown haired boy was stunned by the turn of events. His mouth hung open as he took it all in. His Zubat was a little wobbly in the air (even though it was always a bit wobbly as it flew) and scratched up to boot, but that annoyingly cute pink Pokemon was still standing strong even if a little dirty and scratched up too. What did he have to do to beat that thing?
Akane, however, thought that the Zubat would win at any moment. Twinkers was fighting the good fight, but up against two opponents she didn't stand much of a chance. It was going to take luck for her to win this fight.
"Zubat! Bite!"
"Twinkers, lets try another Metronome!"
The commands shouted out in unison, the combatants leaped into action. The Zubat flew around it's trainer spiraling upwards to gain height for a full-on charging bite attack, determined to take out that pink Fairy Pokemon that annoyed her master so. Meanwhile, Twinkers started to rock its fingers back and forward to another unheard beat all while focusing on her high flying opponent. Twinkers' fingers shone with a white light. The Zubat reached the top of its climb and began to descend, wings behind open mouth in front. The Clefairy's fingers stopped with its left hand pointing towards it's right, the light on that finger intensified then shifted color to an almost black shade of purple. The Zubat was almost upon Twinkers, mouth looming large, when the Fairy Pokemon made an overarm scratching movement with its dark hand. A large shadowy claw extended from that dark energy and connected solidly with the Zubat, forcing it into the ground just before Twinkers.
Everyone was silent for a few seconds. The Bat Pokemon twitched but didn't make a move to get up. Then the crowd cheered for the unlikely victory.
