I'll admit it. Recently, I've been here about 10 hours a day. xD
I think my mind subconsciously wants to make up for that month or so I wasn't here... and I want to get some more gold, as always. >>

I keep saying 'I don't think I'll be around much next term, school is getting a lot more serious.'
But then I don't come online less, because you have to relax *sometime*... and Gaia > TV.
We're enjoying your presence. heart
Everyone on PA is always so well off. whee

mrgreen
We're only well-off because we either spend lots of time on Gaia or have been in the system for over a year. I think a year is around the average account age here (of active members).

I'm here as a means to procrastination (it's a cool project, but I have to read about 30pgs of help files to understand how the program works gonk ), and I need to relax after last semester. >>
And I don't have a TV now.

I should be more serious because I'm being paid to work, but I can't do that; it's impossible for me to be serious when I need it. whee

Yeah, I got all my good donation items when they were about 40k. whee
I think I should start some homework but it's the last week of term and it's so hard to be bothered.
I think being not-serious when things should be serious is like a kind of defense system. Taking things seriously is scary. 3nodding

(30) Nevermind that evil plot thing. I'll just get him to think of something. 3nodding

I used to take things seriously in high school, but then I realized that it doesn't really matter in the larger scope of things. As long as I can get a bachelor's with a decent enough GPA to get into grad school, I'll be set for life. Good pay and easy jobs galore...

I don't think I'm sleeping tonight; it's too late now. xp

I think I paid about the same or less in some cases... The only ones that I want now are worth 150k +, and I doubt I'll get that much without vending. I'm not willing to do that right now. >>

Yeah, I'm resigned to the 12k a month for the donation items, maybe invest in an extra one if I think it has much potential. Mind you, I say that... I only actually have an extra Coco and Chyaku Norisu Scarf. xp The rest is used for commons! biggrin
I can't be bothered questing.
I know I probably take school too seriously. But you really do need to get a high score in VCE or it can be hard to get into the course you want. Not that I plan on medicine... but there's an off off chance I could want law or pharmacy.
Aww, what time is it there? sad

2:20AM now. xp

In high school, it's important to be OCD about grades so you can get into the college system where you want doing what you want. Once you're in college, you need to keep a 3.0 ... and grad courses are usually given Pass/Fail.

I have a bunch of extras of everything, but that's because I donate $20 a month (usually). And since I really haven't liked any of the items recently, I haven't opened the letters. I'm trying to save up for something, but I don't know what it is. If I ever sell all my TY letters, I might have enough to get a D-Tail, but then I won't have the collection any more. ;-;

Oooooh, that's lucky. I have to wait for about a week or two every month for the prices to drop, and try and tell when it's the lowest. It's hard to be patient. xp

Oh that's right, you guys have generalised undergraduate courses.
At the moment, you get into a law or medicine course, and that's it. You're doing law or medicine. Obviously you can change courses and things, but I think you need a 75% to change. And there's entry for older students and things... but yeahhhh.

Melbourne University is changing to having a generalised undergraduate course in a couple of years though.

I should pay attention to that and do some vending, but I'm not that diligent.

We have generalized degrees for only the 'easy' stuff, with a liberal arts degree for people who can't figure out what they want.

Pre-Med, -Law, and other programs (like engineering) only have a little bit of the generalization in the beginning... We have to fulfill a state-mandated General Education requirement before we can graduate, but that's only around 30 credits of 125 (for my degree). It's not much, considering that I had 20 taken care of before I even made it to college. >>

I keep on saying 'From what I know in books...'
That's about my only source of knowledge on the workings of America, and I've found that most of the time I'm pretty off, or half correct. ^.^
We don't really have that whole 'credit' thing going on before you hit Uni.
You can do one Uni subject in year 12... but that's about it, it doesn't really give you any advantage.

You can do an Arts course here too, it has heaps of choice within... languages, sociology, criminology and media and stuff like that, so it serves pretty much the same purpose. There's a general Science course too.
I'd quite like to do a double degree with Arts... but who knows, I might end up doing a straight Arts for a year. :S

I took enough English credits in high school through the local junior college to take a language minor, were it of any use to me. xp ...And I took my history requirement out of the way as well.

Every class is a certain number of credit-hours long (which represents how much class time per week and some weird ratio of how much you're supposed to be studying for it; I've always been fuzzy on that since I hate studying so much >>), with 3 and 4 credits being major classes.

That's kinda like our college separations within universities. Each unversity has departments called 'College of ___',
with ___ = Arts and Sciences (general track), and the other rigorous departments like Business, Pre-Med, -Law, Engineering, and the like.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 13, 2006 12:49 am

Oh, so that's why you call it College and not University. whee
Since my high school is called a Secondary College, it'd just be weird.
And every time I say 'high school' I'm hoping people realise I mean year 12, because that's what we have grouped for years 7 - 12... none of this 'middle school' business. ^.^
People have explained it to me before... but it kinda flew in one ear and out the other. xd

Brevity = stays in memory. 3nodding

Yeah... I don't really like the 'middle school' classification either, but it separates out the just-getting-hormones hooligans from the pure elementary-schoolers and the slightly-more-mature high school kids. It's good in its own way, I guess. *shrug*

I don't have much interesting to say in response to that.
But I'm inching closer to 200 posts. ninja

And if you don't respond, I have to think of filler stuff.

Oh; my gigantic external hard drive is shiny.
